Every playoffs they because of that, even the GSW series they did not lost because of Curry they lost because Looney feasted in the boards and Wiggins kept taking the ball deep in the paint becasue nobody was there to defend or rim protect Mavs have to foul him everytime or give him the dunk.
I always notice that when ppl talk about slip from 5th to 11th seed last year after getting Ky, they dont mention that there was only a 2 game difference between the 4th and 11th seed at that point...the drop off sounds way worse than it actually was.
Considering the lack of assets this team had at the beginning of the off season, they killed it. From weak to deep. That being said, If Lively can’t play well early I see them making a trade for someone like Capela. It could happen tomorrow, but they seem content with this squad for now.
@@QGfk1ky can defend in a team context. So can luka. Throw in 2 hybrid bigs and this team is potentially a dynasty. Kyrie is a top 3 2nd option. The bagage doesn't negate him being the best guard finisher in the league
Nah, they need a decent frontcourt. What will Holmes and Powell do to Jokic, AG, Ayton, KD. AD. Wood, KAT, Gobert, JJJ and Adams of the West? Literally every other front court will feast in the Mavericks come playoffs. Last year's best player was a center how can the Mavericks guard Jokic?

@@trashcanjuice11lots of people only focus on the stars and offense so if they see the two big names they assume that's what makes a team. although I think Kyrie on court is a good fit for Luka. but they gave up their only great 3 and d wing and they have 0 rim protection. even as an offensively slanted team they don't have enough juice on that end to be like a Steve Nash suns, which is how good your offense needs to be to contend when you have bad defense. though they will get better year on year if they don't fuck up too much just bc Luka keeps getting better.
@@QGfk1we didnt have a great 3 and d wing. I liked Reggie Bullock and i absolutely adored DFS. But both were playing pretty badly all last season, especially on D which is where we needed them most.

He looked good last year, and this summer with FIBA. His defense was never in question, his shot was much improved over his last few years in Europe. He was a top 5 pick for a reason, just had injuries.

If he didnt get hurt we would of been in the playoffs although out very early unless players peaked again like the season before

DFS being the best defender is a low standard. Mavs still sucked defensively with him overall
they should play euro ball. luka pick and roll with holmes and williams. they are going to eat off him this season. both can give you 15 a night easy
