Up until about the all star break, everyone in NY was saying the Knicks blew it with Jalen and should have gone after Donovan Mitchell instead. However, I don't think Brunson would have grew into the star he is now with the Knicks had he stayed in Dallas. The problem is playing with Doncic. I don't have the stats to back it up but Doncic looks like an extremely high utilization player. Don't mean this in a bad way but it looks like he's trying to beat you by himself until he couldn't and then he'll bail the ball to a teammate with the shot clock less than 10 seconds or so. He's had enough good players or border line stars around him that he should have figured it out if he was a better all-around superstar. The difference between stars like Lebron and Curry who elevates their teams and Doncic is sort of like the difference between Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins.
You forgot to mention Jaden Hardy who has been a bright spot for the Mavs this season. Honestly I feel like the best bet for the mavericks at this point is to sign and trade Kyrie for wing and Center depth and forget the second star experiment for now until they get more salary off their books. The heliocentric offense was working great for Luka before the Kyrie trade. He was a top 3 MVP candidate before then and the team was much better.
Yeah and they still would be losing…. Ain’t another good player coming to play Luka’s type of ball 🏀. Y’all act like he gets a pass in defense….that doesn’t make sense at all. He needs to get in shape and play some dam defense like everyone else period.

Kyrie is not the problem, Coach Kidd is selling the mavs. No matter how high their FG percentage if the last of their 10 matches the mavs were out-rebounded by another team they will still lose. Benching Woods and Mcgee is a 🤡 Woods and Mcgee have the highest block and rebounds in less minutes.

Think about it for a sec: The Mavs were sitting 5th in the Western Conference at 29-26 right before the Kyrie trade but since then they find themselves out of the Play-In picture at 37-39 going 8-13 after the trade. Weird times indeed in Dallas. By the way, that's back-to-back video centered around the Mavs, Andy. Nice one, my friend.
i am fascinated with luka and trae parallel with their career. both got traded for each other. both reached conference finals. both are struggling right now.
Neither are struggling offensively both playing well. It’s a very tough League and they are young players. It took Jordan seven years to win a championship . And LeBron 9 years.
@@aarondeatherage7678 Luka is great definitely, but yeah, I was talking about team sucess in general. I would even argue that Trae has the better team than Luka.
I'm surprised they didn't push harder for Poeltl near the deadline. As a Raptors fan, he's made our defense so much better and even brings some unexpected offense with high post passing, excellent finishing around the rim and even a few simple yet effective post moves. Feels like he would've really shored up the Mavs defense and would be comfortable with the slower pace that Luka likes to play at
As a european , watching many many games of Luka, both for Slovenia and Real Madrid ... He is a GREAT player , no doubt ! Unreal skills ! Great body control, incredible soft shooter's touch. You can name more and more, i will agree . BUT, here in Europe we were always saying.. **** It will be IMPOSSIBLE for him with this defensive mindset to get an NBA ring, maybe not even an NBA Finals. And unfortunately until now , he hasnt changed ANYTHING. We called him ''lazy'' on the defensive end ,still is. He is complaining about it, he knows it, he quotes on it , but still hasn't changed a thing ++++ You got an extra succesful 2021-2022 season , with key factor J-Brun , and the role players (Bullock, Finney, Dinwiddie, Timmy Jr, Powell, Kleber) fitting perfectly in the whole equation and the style of their game , helping also Luka's ZERO mark on Defense **** And you ruin this with a trade for (almost) an IDENTICAL player ; Kyrie For me , it would be surprise to GET into the play - offs , NOT the opposite
Kidd is the biggest problem. The team tuned him out. Losing Brunson isn't why their defense fell off a cliff this season. DFS wasn't playing at the same level he was last season and Josh Green's improved play made him expendable, that's why they made the trade
I agree…he was horrible tonight…he should have challenged that block by McGee….he act like he don’t know what the hell is going on. He need to allow Kyrie to play the entire 2nd quarter with Luka on the bench period.
What's funny is that they ship off KP because he was a bad defender for the Mavs when he came back from the injury and replace him with Wood.. but KP is now a really good defender and back in shape and playing best basketball of his life. Mavs could really use him better than Kyire in their defense and offense. But, I think the ultimate problem isn't Kyrie or Wood or Kidd... it's Luka, himself. Last year he was a decent defender (slightly better than average) and the team played hard on that end of the floor but something happened to him - he isn't into these games, something is off, something is going on in his personal life. To me, it usually starts and ends with your franchise player and it's a Luka problem. Mavs better figure this out fast or Luka might demand a trade. Imagine Knicks getting Luka after getting JB? They still have 5 first round picks and a bunch of young guys and can probably make the best rebuild package out of all the teams out there (assuming Mavs want to go that route and not get stars back).
@@JustDontPlsdefinitely is considering how he’s playing and where he was picked at. Steal doesn’t mean best. It means best in relation to the position you were picked in. He was a late 30s pick and is the best second rounder of this class.
Mark cuban has the history of blowing up a contender line up like he does in dirk era, let nash goes to phoenix same as bronson goes to nyk , then trading there contender lineup like when they won a championship.
as a mavs fan that makes me cry and laugh at the same time. How stupid can you be to involve a bilionoare in the front office :D He is rich, not smart. and he doenst know anything about basketball.
Good analysis! If I were Cuban, it’s simply make no sense of resigning Kyrie when the team is underperforming so much. Yet it makes sense to resign with a view of trading him for several players after this off-season.
He traded their "contender" lineup because they weren't legitimate contenders. Kyrie is better than any player on the Maves then and now, including Luka Doncic.
I was curious about the defense because whenever people talk about Kyrie and Luka, nobody mentions their defense. Granted, for most players that seems to be the case, but I was curious about that nevertheless.
truth is, most star PGs in this league are terrible defenders. The video mentions JB becomig a star, but he is still a bad defender. Dame is bad. Curry is bad. Mitchell is bad. Harden is bad. Trae is outright terrible. Out of all-star PGs the only good defenders are maybe SGA and Jrue and they are more combo guys.
@@mrvk39 to be fair with at least curry and mitchell their effort has gone up over the previous few years and I would argue they are average defenders now, same with harden at times. Additionally those teams tend to have better bench guards which have maximum effort on D which helps, the mavs really got no one.
@@fortynights1513 yeah. I feel that some of these star PGs could be decent defenders had they wanted to, but once they are stars and doing so much on offense, there isn't pressure on them to be good defensively. Bench and rotation guys need to prove themselves to coaches or they don't play.
No, it's not. Y'all act like everyone wasn't still SCREAMING at the top of their lungs about how Luka has no help when Dodo was here. Well you don't go get help without giving up something, and now everyone "knew" this was a bad trade. It's crazy to judge things like this based off of like 15 games but unfortunately when Kyrie could possibly leave after the season, they kinda have to. THAT is the crazy part of the trade. If they can resign him and then worst case flip him later if need be, then it could still be a decent trade, but RIGHT NOW we just don't know. Really what they should have done was hang onto Brunson and then package all our 1sts after this season to finally make a massive trade. Now that's going to be harder with our 2029 pick going to the Nets unless they include Kyrie later or get a pick or two BACK for him elsewhere. It's a sticky mess all over.
Definitely. Although Luka's stats look the same, the main issues are Luka's mental troubles and losing Dorian. Luka's issues are number 1 because their slide started way before the trade, and when Kyrie plays and Luka doesn't, they win. Having Brunson would be nice, but you're definitely right about Dorian.
@@michaelhaydenbell you must be confusing NBA fans and actual MAVS fans from the DFW area lmao. People in this area were excited about the prospect of Kyrie while being pissed about DFS. He’s the best defender we’ve had probs since Tyson even though they did it different. The “help” was never geared towards guys like Him. He always gave you: versatile defense to switch multiple positions, rebounding and was a good 3 point shooter. He was really close with Luka, he respected him as one of the few true “dogs” he had on his team with his mentality. The trade from people who actually watch and are invested in the Mavs have always felt giving DFS up was way too much and would hurt later….like it is now.
Not making it to the playins while having Luka on team is an achievement in and on its own. Not many teams could do that. Lets celebrate this achievement with a moment of silence for Mavs. F.
@Jaime Aguilar that's exactly what Cuban did to Tyson Chandler back in the day. How could you let a defensive big man that complimented Dirk walk like that in pursuit of Dwight Howard who didn't like Dallas?
If you've ever watched Shark Tank, you would know what Mark Cuban said before about his business philosophy. It was something like "Everybody's got potential, but give me someone who has the results already." This translated perfectly well to him not willing to pay on potential alone and it's evident for the past couple of decades. He's ok only willing to pay on established superstars.
Everyone and their mother knew this was a bad trade!! Kyrie isn’t a defensive stopper and he he’s just one guy that isn’t guaranteed to stay after one year!! Damn that sucks that they didn’t go after Jalen and their cast!!
That’s a bit of history rewrite. 90% of the comments I saw on RUclips when this happened was how we were finally going to see Luka make his move to best player in the league now he finally had ‘help’ I saw a few comments about how the defense might struggle but even then a lot of those said it wouldn’t matter as Luka and Kyrie would just outscore the other team
I always thought that Luka Doncic needed a good big man who’s defensively sound and great offensively. Sad that he ruined his teammate relationship with Porzingus.
It’s funny how people only care about offense nowadays and forget about defense until you realize that team is not as good as you thought they were because of their bad defense especially come playoff time where defense matters the most
As a Mavs fan I can admit that my team is in a very difficult position and it's really hard to see what they can do to improve this team. They appear to be stuck at the moment because they don't have pieces or the money to make any moves. Management has also made some really bad decisions and this team is paying for it now.
@Lebron Johnson The porzingis trade was part of it, but I believe its a combination of a lot of mistakes by management. One of the big issues I can say is that during the times when Dirk was getting older and the Mavs were not developing or focusing on their future like young players. They were signing role players like Harrison Barnes, Jordan, Monta Ellis, Matthews etc to get into the playoffs only to lose in the first round. They never truly rebuild the team. It wasn't until they drafted Dennis Smith that they appeared to actually realize that they had no young draft picks. Then all of sudden they get Luka and they weren't ready for a player like that to be so good so quick. Now they are in a position where they don't have a lot of talent or chemistry on that team because they are just trying to put random players together and hope it works. A player like Luka needs players that he builds chemistry with over the years and this is why I think he will end up leaving the Mavs if they don't get their stuff together quickly. They lost Brunson because of management. This team messed up so much and it's sad as a fan.
@@lebronjohnson6735 Porzingis trade was the first mistake (don’t want to hear about the wcf or Dinwiddie that was just a flash in the pan a one year wonder) but for the long term just look @ KP now having a fantastic & healthy season in Washington he is exactly the player the Mavs need right now
Comparing Kyrie and luka to KD and Russ was bad. Those 2 went to the finals and also almost beat the 73 win warriors team… the other 2 are about to miss the play in.
I wish that they would get a proper rim protector and lob threat. On top of that, Doncic is getting gassed by the end of the third quarter. Their is only so much that one person can do. If Luka gets traded, he would fit well in Toronto.
I honestly think Luka is kinda checking out, it's disappointing, but, I kinda get it. I don't understand the Wood situation apparently Kidd seems to have something personal going on with him and just doesn't want him there. I really think Luka and Kyrie could work together great. I honestly don't think it's them. There's something going on there that just isn't right. Even carrying the team before Luka seemed to take pride in it. Now he seems miserable
@@honestcomment862Basically.. Luka came into season outta shape, still cries tooo much AND completely don't commit back in Defense and not enough ball movement. Hard for a GM to build a team around such a ball dominant player who don't play Defense
Getting rid of Brunson wasn't a bad move I don't think. He is a legit PG starter and they would have had to overpay him in relation to his role on the team. They need to load up with 3 and D players to space for Luka.
It's almost like basketball is played by 5 players at a time and games are won by rosters, not two players. Adding another option to give Luka some rest was a good idea, making that addition a ball dominant iso player while having to give up some of your most important pieces to get him was a bad one.
I personally think that if they find a couple defensive players they are easily contenders and better chemistry. Mavs need a little bit more time but Luka doesnt have that time
The Lakers would be complete idiots to let go of Dangelo Russell, Vanderbilt, Beasley, Bamba and the depth just to sign that loose canon, Kyrie. Notice how we’re performing so much better post trade deadline and the Clippers and especially the Mavs have gotten worse signing or trading for Westbrook and Kyrie.
WTF are you both talking about Kyrie is a Beast with the right players. He will make the decision where he’s going this summer….so don’t worry about Kyrie, he will be Alright. Y’all better be worried about your boy Luka looking like Elvis in his latter days.
Biggest betrayal. I felt like Dodo, Brunson and Dinwiddie got betrayed by the mavs FO. Seeing Nets winning and on the top of the playoffs brackets makes me happy. I want mavs to keep losing so Kidd and their FO realize that they made a big mistake and they completely ruined a good team
what’s crazy is for the mavs it’s championship or bust. the nets are an OK team but we all know they aren’t going nowhere. thou they are the 20’s version of the 2004 pistons. but it just won’t work in todays league.
What Dallas team are you looking at or talking about ??? I will say this again Dallas was not winning. I hate like hell that Kyrie came to Dallas period. I’m ready for the season to be over with period.
I don’t think it was a bad trade, the Mavs were already having a terrible season compared to last year and Kyrie was a low risk high reward move since he’s on an expiring contract. The biggest issue about this season is how Luka has regressed as a team player on both ends on the floor, despite putting up more impressive box score stats. He’s slower, never pushes the pace, has gotten worse in FT%, is somehow even less concerned about playing defense and tries to heroball his way to victory every single game.
Surprised Jaden Hardy didn't get mentioned. I think the goal is for him to slide into that Brunson role but the point about the frontcourt hits the hardest, I think at this point we should ride with Wood in the starting lineup because at least this spaces the floor for 5-out which is how we beat the Jazz in the playoffs. If they miss the playoffs Kyrie is gone.
Don't forget about Jaden Hardy. He's looking like a Brunson replacement. I don't think the Mavs can afford to lose Kyrie but maybe they do a sign and trade so they can keep Wood and get a defensive minded wing.
They need a defensive minded Center too. Wood has to go stop gassing him up. I do think we need defensive wings and maybe more shooting for the Heliocentric offense.
They traded finney smith w/c is their key player. He can do defensive stops and shoot 3s. And now all they have is wood and mcgee, theyre good defensive stoppers, but given this league has almost every player shooting 3s? I m doubtful for that 2 big. They need irritants(not really irritants, just enough defensive ability to fulfill the coverage they want)to bother shooters.
The second star next to Luka needs to be a great 2 way player. Someone who can be the shining star on the other side of the field to make up for Dallas's defensive woes
I have been rooting for Luka and the Mavs all season amd it is heartbreaking that they fell off the playoff picture and barely not getting in for the plaily in tournament. I hope all the stars align for Luka and for him to succeed in the future. Still hoping and will continue to root for him no matter what.
Question. Do you think it would be good if Luka took a season off for his mental health? Clear his head. Fully regain his love for the game and get his smile back.
Luka not winning until he can be a real defensive player. Even guys like Magic and Steph who were never known for defense both showed willingness to try on defense. Luka has yet to show he's even willing to try.
KP played great this year - didn't miss a ton of games, plays good defense, plays good offense. He just took a very long time bouncing back to his form. Mavs rushed that trade, though KP, apparently was dumb enough to demand trades too. He wasn't happy in Dallas.
Luka must change clubs as soon as possible. He is needlessly wasting years in an unpromising club that does not know how to use up the treasure they have.
Can you now make a video about the Cleveland Cavaliers before LeBron James arrived? They do have a quite interesting history because most of their success have centered around one man in LeBron and just overall they had minimal success without him but now this current Cavs team are about to write their own history.
Generally, Cleveland wasn’t that great, but if you look at their whole history, you’ll find one conference final team in 1975, and a solid team in the late 80’s and early 90’s that lost to the Bulls a few times, and made another conference final in 92 or 93. Other than that, not a ton of success, and the early 80’s and early 2000’s teams were very bad. The former was responsible for the Stepien rule, and without their mismanagement, James Worthy wouldn’t be a Laker (one of the few times in any sport I’ve heard of where a defending champion picked first overall) Side note: Imagine how many picks a prime superstar would fetch without the Stepien rule. He did the early Bulls and the early Mavericks, but the early Cavs would be interesting.
Big fan of your channel. I think this video is one of those retrospectively, it's easier to say that trading DFS and SD aren't the right moves. They aren't winning enough with their inconsistencies. I'm not saying that getting Kyrie is the best trade but not doing anything is the same as losing.
I knew deep down that chemistry problems will arise once Kyrie got there. It’s not rocket science when having an undersized off-guard would be a disaster.

55 million was too much for Cuban to keep Brunson. Big mistake. Dallas could have Brunson Dinwiddie Luka DFS and maybe KP. That would've been a very competitive team.
The idea that Kyrie Irving would not re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks is funny to me. The Mavs are really the only team with the cap space that would give Uncle Drew a max contract with no strings attached. Even if Mark Cuban and the front office decide they don't want to keep Kyrie, they need to sign him, in order to avoid losing him for nothing. The Los Angeles Lakers spent a large part of this season trying to trade for Irving, and may still be interested in a sign-and-trade, depending on how the rest of their season goes. 🏀📜💰
Lakers said they are no longer interested and loaded up their roster with other players. Now, they cannot do sign-and-trade but instead, need to offload a lot of contracts. Also, I think that Mavs would still attach strings to his deal. they will be fundamentally dumb not to. Kyrie's market is taking a major hit.
@@mrvk39 they said that now but depending on their play in/playoffs go it could change very fast. But even then you right kyrie's market has become abysmal, I doubt any other two teams would want him for a max.

Luka Doncic is going to go down as the modern day Allen Iverson. He's got all the talent in the world but doesn't know how to win. And every recent Mavericks trade has made them worse, getting rid of actual help for bigger name players who either don't know how to or don't care to play winning basketball. I knew that once the Mavs let Jalen Brunson walk in free agency, the franchise would be in shambles, and Luka would get none of the blame (despite deserving a lot of it). Also little correction: Dwight Powell was (and still is) the Mavs' longest tenured player.
What the mavs needed was to get some shotcreators meaning guys that can create their own shot without depending on getting the ball while open. I think they need to get 2 bigs that can finish at the rim and rebound (starter and bench). Have 2 guys that are 3&D and then Luka + anyone who can playmake and create their own shot (Kyrie?).
I like how you content creators hit Luka with kids gloves, but with other teams the titles are a bit more sinister. I guess the "fraud" title doesn't apply to him huh?
Luka just really needs to stop crying to the refs, CP3 was not even close to this bad in his prime crying years. Then again, he doesn’t really add anything to the D so maybe him not getting back doesn’t matter
Christian wood has honestly been a much better defender than the narrative about him goes and was a big part in why Dallas went on a 7 game win streak when he started. Despite the media kyrie has been good for Dallas and fans have been questioning kidds coaching since November and its a big reason why they went from solid playoff spot at 4th and now may miss the post season.
I think the Mavs need either a player like Davis or a player like Chris Middleton. They can even be lucky and take Middleton next season, if he choose to go on the free market. With Middleton they can even take a rim protector without the need for him to produce points.

@@SoloLLC and while luka gets in shape it won’t be overnight so as he develops the team will too. They’ll develop around luka with a good big and a good 2 way and the second star will come naturally and not forced
That’s honestly the best decision we can make I just hope management knows that and doesn’t try to hold on to Kyrie.
@@SoloLLC That is the problem. Before this season I thought Luka may become one of the all time greats. But watching him play with Kyrie, Luka isn't gelling around Kyrie like the greatest players are able to do with another all star. Luka's stats are undeniably great, but in today's nba you have to have another star player on your team and you have to find a way to win with them. Some guys like Harden and Westbrook just are unable to win big with another great player, they hog the ball too much. I'm getting worried that is the same story with Luka, I hope I'm wrong.
I hate to put all the blame on Luka though, since he is only 24 and Kyrie is a 31 year old with a ring under his belt who obviously knows how to win it all. He should take the reigns and find a way to win with Luka, the same way LBJ took the reigns and found a way to win with Kyrie.
Tradr Kyrie to a bad team. Probably either Detroit or Houston.
As a long time Mavs fan, this is one of the most frustrating season for us. Next to 2007.
@@Dan-xk3oqLike I been saying before, I hate when people just be acting like scoring means wins especially now...Look at how many players dropping 50 a game, so even when Dallas score alot many teams can easily drop points too
Think about it for a sec: The Mavs were sitting 5th in the Western Conference at 29-26 right before the Kyrie trade but since then they find themselves out of the Play-In picture at 37-39 going 8-13 after the trade. Weird times indeed in Dallas.

i am fascinated with luka and trae parallel with their career. both got traded for each other. both reached conference finals. both are struggling right now.
I would argue Luka is far from struggling individually. He’s having a career season, the team around him 3-15 is as bad as any team in the league.
Neither are struggling offensively both playing well. It’s a very tough League and they are young players.
It took Jordan seven years to win a championship . And LeBron 9 years.

@@ImKarl Trae hasnt played with anyone half thebplayer as Kyrie wtf
@@THEWZRD1 Kyrie is overrated as hell and anybody with half a brain could see that he was a terrible fit next to Luka.
I'm surprised they didn't push harder for Poeltl near the deadline. As a Raptors fan, he's made our defense so much better and even brings some unexpected offense with high post passing, excellent finishing around the rim and even a few simple yet effective post moves. Feels like he would've really shored up the Mavs defense and would be comfortable with the slower pace that Luka likes to play at
Masai is a terrorist that would’ve squeezed the Mavs dry
So true. Raptors got so much better wit him. Super underrated pick up
As a european , watching many many games of Luka, both for Slovenia and Real Madrid ...
He is complaining about it, he knows it, he quotes on it , but still hasn't changed a thing
++++ You got an extra succesful 2021-2022 season , with key factor J-Brun , and the role players (Bullock, Finney, Dinwiddie, Timmy Jr, Powell, Kleber) fitting perfectly in the whole equation and the style of their game , helping also Luka's ZERO mark on Defense
**** And you ruin this with a trade for (almost) an IDENTICAL player ; Kyrie
For me , it would be surprise to GET into the play - offs , NOT the opposite
Kidd is the biggest problem. The team tuned him out. Losing Brunson isn't why their defense fell off a cliff this season. DFS wasn't playing at the same level he was last season and Josh Green's improved play made him expendable, that's why they made the trade
I agree…he was horrible tonight…he should have challenged that block by McGee….he act like he don’t know what the hell is going on. He need to allow Kyrie to play the entire 2nd quarter with Luka on the bench period.
You're absolutely right those role players add up. Teams never figure that out. Seriously though this happens like once a year
What's funny is that they ship off KP because he was a bad defender for the Mavs when he came back from the injury and replace him with Wood.. but KP is now a really good defender and back in shape and playing best basketball of his life.
100% on the KP take 👍

It’s like having 2 ballhogs that barely play defense in the same backcourt was never gonna work🤷🏾♂️
I was curious about the defense because whenever people talk about Kyrie and Luka, nobody mentions their defense.
@@mrvk39 Are most good defensive point guards role players?
@@mrvk39 to be fair with at least curry and mitchell their effort has gone up over the previous few years and I would argue they are average defenders now, same with harden at times. Additionally those teams tend to have better bench guards which have maximum effort on D which helps, the mavs really got no one.
@@fortynights1513 yeah. I feel that some of these star PGs could be decent defenders had they wanted to, but once they are stars and doing so much on offense, there isn't pressure on them to be good defensively. Bench and rotation guys need to prove themselves to coaches or they don't play.
In Hindsight, losing Dodo is probably worse than losing Brunson. What Dodo brought on defense was underappreciated.

The title of this video reminds me so much of what Dirk had to face for the majority of his career as a Maverick
He also lost a #13 lol Cuban doesn't like paying players unless its a superstar or he really likes them as a friend

As a Mavs fan I can admit that my team is in a very difficult position and it's really hard to see what they can do to improve this team. They appear to be stuck at the moment because they don't have pieces or the money to make any moves. Management has also made some really bad decisions and this team is paying for it now.
Where did it all go downhill? The porzingis trade?

I wish that they would get a proper rim protector and lob threat. On top of that, Doncic is getting gassed by the end of the third quarter. Their is only so much that one person can do. If Luka gets traded, he would fit well in Toronto.

I honestly don't think it's them. There's something going on there that just isn't right. Even carrying the team before Luka seemed to take pride in it. Now he seems miserable
Think about why Dwight Powell always a starter even in last two years with Rick Carlisle.
Yeah, poor Luka getting paid tens of millions of dollars to get into shape and play basketball. If he's "checking out" he's a loser.
The key thing the Mavs are missing is a solid wing defender and a good center who can protect the rim and rebound
It's almost like basketball is played by 5 players at a time and games are won by rosters, not two players. Adding another option to give Luka some rest was a good idea, making that addition a ball dominant iso player while having to give up some of your most important pieces to get him was a bad one.

What Dallas team are you looking at or talking about ??? I will say this again Dallas was not winning. I hate like hell that Kyrie came to Dallas period. I’m ready for the season to be over with period.
The problem is the coaching staff. They don't give McGee playing time. They don't put wood in the starting five. They don't have defense at all!
Agreed on your analysis that Kyrie trade made 0 sense and they’re paying the price for it
I don’t think it was a bad trade, the Mavs were already having a terrible season compared to last year and Kyrie was a low risk high reward move since he’s on an expiring contract.

Only ppl who actually watch mavs games know about hardy
Andy doesn’t know hoops
As a nets fan, I’d argue Ben Simmons contract is worse than Davis Bertans
Don't forget about Jaden Hardy. He's looking like a Brunson replacement. I don't think the Mavs can afford to lose Kyrie but maybe they do a sign and trade so they can keep Wood and get a defensive minded wing.
They need a defensive minded Center too. Wood has to go stop gassing him up. I do think we need defensive wings and maybe more shooting for the Heliocentric offense.
Nice vid Andy, though I would say Bertans contract is second worst behind Simmons lol
Someone who can be the shining star on the other side of the field to make up for Dallas's defensive woes
luka and PG would be perfect then 😂
Hell nah PG wouldn’t dare play with Luka…not happening period
I have been rooting for Luka and the Mavs all season amd it is heartbreaking that they fell off the playoff picture and barely not getting in for the plaily in tournament. Luka not winning until he can be a real defensive player. Even guys like Magic and Steph who were never known for defense both showed willingness to try on defense. Luka has yet to show he's even willing to try.
@geordiejones5618 this is true. It's an attitude towards the game, and I think it hurts team morale.
If luka decides to leave and join a contending team, then he might have a chance to be successful. Dallas aint it, too much bad contract on that team.

KP played great this year - didn't miss a ton of games, plays good defense, plays good offense. He just took a very long time bouncing back to his form. Mavs rushed that trade, though KP, apparently was dumb enough to demand trades too. He wasn't happy in Dallas.

He’s not losing it. He’s been open about other issues in his life playing into it. All players go through what he’s going through. Do you want him to be all chirpy when it’s going this bad for the mavs.
anyone forced to play with cryrie will stop loving basketball.
@crippledepre9539 except they have a winning record when Kyrie plays, and Luka doesn't. They have an all-around losing record with every scenario where Luka plays. People should stop hating on people they don't know. Especially when it flaunts their ignorance. This has nothing to do with your personal feelings.
@lukemchale5590 all players do not have legal matters against their mothers. We don't know what's going on inside his head. But he did say he's losing love, and he said he's lost his smile. He's becoming hard to watch because he often overreacts when he doesn't get calls even though he still gets them most of the time. Clearly, his attitude is souring. Even if all players have the same issues, they don't hit the same to everyone. I just hope he can find his peace, maybe love the game he plays, and give us some good entertaining basketball again.
@@Fencellisk hopefully. But I think an important point is because he’s so good and will be known as one of the best young talents. People forget he’s still young. Still maturing and finding his place in the nba as a leader.
I wasn't following the NBA at the time but I'm kinda guessing this is what it was like during LeBron's first stint in Cleveland
Kinda except LeBron was good enough to elevate his team and played unselfishly. He's like Magic Johnson in that he makes other players better. But Luka is no LeBron. Is an iso queen.
Whatever happens, Mavs should not consider re-signing Ky to a max deal in the off-season or else they will be doomed for how long he stays with the team.
Wasn't not getting a max deal the reason he wanted out of Brooklyn?
He’s getting a MAX Deal, but he doesn’t want that with Dallas so Kyrie will have the option to go anywhere he wants to. You Dallas fans are true haters on Kyrie, but find no issue with Luka…. I wonder why????
@@SoloLLCbro calm down ahahah Kyrie is unpredicatble especially off the court that's why he doesn't deserve a max deal. But I guess for desperate teams like the Lakers, I think he's going to get the bag since Bron loves Mr. Flat Earth that much.
@@rnuke_rocket You calm your azzz down and understand what he does off the court doesn’t have a dam thing to do with playing ball as long as he’s not committing a crime. I’m sure you do things outside of your job so WTH are you talking about….he is not anyone’s property period. Grow up and talk about something that’s really matters - he will get his MAX Deal and all you haters know what you can do period.
@@SoloLLC Except the stuff he does off the court has effected his playing ball. Dude has been a locker room distraction for years, has made a habit of alienating his teammates and has made Brooklyn and Boston regret putting him on their teams because of it.
Interesting and well explained / explored
Luka Doncic is going to go down as the modern day Allen Iverson. He's got all the talent in the world but doesn't know how to win. And every recent Mavericks trade has made them worse, getting rid of actual help for bigger name players who either don't know how to or don't care to play winning basketball.
I knew that once the Mavs let Jalen Brunson walk in free agency, the franchise would be in shambles, and Luka would get none of the blame (despite deserving a lot of it).
Also little correction: Dwight Powell was (and still is) the Mavs' longest tenured player.
Props for Luka for not Pulling a Lebron YET
Why would he get props? Lebron didn’t leave Cavs till year 7. Luka is on yr 5.
Shame that you did not mention Jaden Hardy, he is good.
Jaylen Brown your next video Andy Hoops 🙏🙏🙏
I like how you content creators hit Luka with kids gloves, but with other teams the titles are a bit more sinister. I guess the "fraud" title doesn't apply to him huh?
Ok kendrick perkins
@@muhammadfarhan581 race baiting because I'm speaking facts?
@@hitmanx2175 It’s the dam truth - again Luka is giving a Pass when he is a big part of the problem. You all will see when Kyrie is gone period.
@@hitmanx2175 what facts? he is by far the best under 25 in the league but cant do it all by himself!
@@Henrique-wy6cv 😭💀
Luka just really needs to stop crying to the refs, CP3 was not even close to this bad in his prime crying years. Then again, he doesn’t really add anything to the D so maybe him not getting back doesn’t matter
Biggest problem is Luka ... Now they have Irving another no d playing asses..
No mention of Jaden Hardy. 😅
Great video. You forgot about Jaden Hardy with the young assets. He may be a future star.
I think the Mavs need either a player like Davis or a player like Chris Middleton. They can even be lucky and take Middleton next season, if he choose to go on the free market.
With Middleton they can even take a rim protector without the need for him to produce points.
Love it.
Luka's great to watch
You made back-to-back videos about the Mavs.
Funny you've mentioned Ntilikina along with Green instead of Hardy. But overall, agree to most of your points.
No love for Hardy?
there is a reason Wood went undrafted and bounced from team to team.
Good video
How do you not have 1mil subs or at least 500k
I guess similar iso wise but KD and Westbrook were an infinitely better fit than Kyrie and Luka.
So a glass cannon team traded for a mega class cannon with a diva attitude. As expected it's whiffing.
Told everyone I know, as soon as I heard. "Mavs traded for Kyrie, they won't even make the playoffs"
Kyrie is a great player, but he dosen't make anyone around him better. Also a chemistry killer..
the only thing u can blame kyrie for is his mediocre defense. this is a team game. plenty of blame to go around.

The problem is Luka is too damn good. They needed to tank another season or two and get couple young studs to build up with Luka.
