The reality for the Mavricks and Nick said it also and that is that the Mavricks had more of a team overall and they were better defensively before they aquire Kyrie and this is no shot at all to Kyrie, that is just a fact. The Mavricks were better constructed before they got Kyrie even though the Mavericks were bad in some areas statistically.
There are millions of people making under 100k under tremendous pressure to perform at work and even then have little guarantees during an economic downturn.. that’s why the NBA is out of touch and really sets a bad example because it gives the impression to teens that you can still be successful without any effort
Its not Kyrie's fault, its the organizations fault. Kyrie brought his offense regardless it wasn't enough just to be pretty. They did not replace Spencer and Finney Smith who had hustle in them. They got worse on defense in a tight race with seven teams who had very close records.
Lukas got to get in the gym seriously or he won't be what everyone thinks he is. He doesn't have to be a great defender but not many greats don't try on D like Luka does.
They messed up the moment they let Brunson walk out. Now I know people were skeptical about him and the deal required to keep him due to what the Knicks offered to him, but you can’t let a player with high value walk off for nothing especially after his coming out party IN THE PLAYOFFS. Now you’re in a situation where you lose your 2nd best player and you don’t add anything significant to the team. And in the middle of the season you trade for a guy that’s pretty much going to be Brunson for you but a little older but you’re willing to pay him more than Brunson and you’re giving up actual valuable picks, your best wing player who also happens to be the best defender on your team and a starter caliber guard. This is as bad management as you get. And you’re doing this while the team is functioning. You’re a top 4 team in the West, right there for a top 2-3 spot at the time and you give up 2 starters and multiple picks for one guy that has been labeled a ball hog and a team killer over the last half a decade. This is 90% all on the management. And the worse part for Luka is people weren’t going to remember Dinwiddie and Finney-Smith’s names after a couple years. They’ll say they gave up 2 players for Kyrie Irving and Luka with a future hall of famer couldn’t get it done. That’s going to be the argument in a couple years.
What if, just what if. Trade Luka to the Knicks for RJ Barret and picks? Brunson played well with Luka and the Mavs front office doesn't know what to do.
Irving left Nets cause they were exactly giving him a 1+1 because they did not trust him. Kyrie wants a long contract, and honestly, the Mavs are desperate enough to give him 4 years of big money.
I agree with bill Simmons, if you are a all time great, should you be able to put together at least 46 wins, look at jokic last year, look at Embiid last year, was headed to 50 wins even without Ben Simmons, and if you get a little help, you should get at minimum 50 wins, for instance Joel Embiid has never had a season where we he didn’t win 50 games. With all the 76ers roster changes the one constant was #21 since 2018, this is a stain on luka resume
Luka made the WCF last year and it’s almost time he starts winning? What about the back to back MVP that can’t win in the postseason without his #2 playing like the #1

Well there is some evidence that might support that yeah? Kyrie didnt play, luka played sparingly and yet they weren't yet eliminated (in that final game). That definitely seems like "quitting/tanking".
Luka can blame Vlade Divac for taking Marvin Bagley III with pick no.2 instead of Luka. Imagine him with Fox and Sabonis at kings right now, they would be favourites to win it all lol
Nick deriding Kyrie for not participating in the so called "soap opera" might be his worst take ever. Like one of the worst takes I've ever heard
Luka is overrated. I can’t believe people actually compared him to Larry Bird.
why would you be on an interview if the outcome of the media cant moive on with all his short comings and past controversies?
Chris still cutting off even though he had Rob to interrupt lol
Kobe slander from Nick wright is crazy.
I love this for Kyrie. Nets, KD, and Harden are all in the playoffs
Luka should go to the DUBS 💯💯💯💯🤣😄😂👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
They got him Pozingers, that didn't work now they got Kyrie. You can't say Dallas hasn't tried to get him some talent.
Kyrie wasn't the answer tho......
This sticks with Kyrie too.
That is why he didn’t want to go do his exit interview. He knew what the questions would be. Even if they would’ve been softballs.
The best success of Kyrie Irving's career is cuz of LeBron James.....
We need to stop acting like the Mavs were in 4th place with a 5 game lead from 10th spot. Everyone in the west was 1-3 games from being in 3rd place or out of the playoffs when the kyrie trade occurred. Utah was in the playoffs, and Phonix was in 6th place. 😆
Kyrie for Gobert. This would give the Mavs a "punchers chance" 🤣🤣
Luka isn't leaving Dallas.
He will take the bag in the hopes of a Dirk Nowitzki type of career.
lol
Tell him to use his left hand. He won't be happy anymore in Dallas
nick really subtley trying to rewrite kobe's history, he's only good on the offensive end?
Any team that tanks is the same
I’m kinda with wildes on this one. The mavs quit and you want me (Kyrie) to go up there and explain it?
I don’t know why people want to get paid 50M a year and can’t do the basics of their job requirements.
There are millions of people making under 100k under tremendous pressure to perform at work and even then have little guarantees during an economic downturn.. that’s why the NBA is out of touch and really sets a bad example because it gives the impression to teens that you can still be successful without any effort
The Mavs tanked to get Luka. So maybe they're about to hit big again?
I love how Nick cites the Bill Simmons podcast every day it comes out, because I also listen to it that morning.
Lol.. according to Nick.. the reason ppl watch the league is for interviews.. thas y ppl watch Kyrie. Otherwise.. bad business 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Its not Kyrie's fault, its the organizations fault. Kyrie brought his offense regardless it wasn't enough just to be pretty. They did not replace Spencer and Finney Smith who had hustle in them. They got worse on defense in a tight race with seven teams who had very close records.
I thought the kyrie trade was always about cap space....
Lakers not getting Kyrie saved them.
Lukas got to get in the gym seriously or he won't be what everyone thinks he is. He doesn't have to be a great defender but not many greats don't try on D like Luka does.
Nick can see clearly when it comes to Duncan and Kobe but he can’t see clearly between Jordan and Lebron… 🤣🤣🤣
lol the mental gymnastics for luka lol
Dame and Doncic both begin with D. Just saying; maybe both should leave.
so it's next year mavericks now? 😁
Luka made the WCF last year and it’s almost time he starts winning? What about the back to back MVP that can’t win in the postseason without his #2 playing like the #1
