  • I've installed a shiny new set of H & R Coilovers on my BMW E46 325Ci and now it's time to make some adjustments and dial in the ride height. The great thing about installing Coilovers as opposed to a standard spring and strut is that you can get a ride height to suit the type of driving you are going to be doing with your E46.

Man! An e46 m3 is one of my dream cars! I’m planning to get a 330ci to learn on, play with, and also save for an m3. I’m glad I found your channel as your quality and information is the best for the e46. Keep the videos coming!

AH LIFE. That and work always getting in the way of fun lol. Enjoying your vids. Can't wait til your shooting footage from the driver's seat. I am a bit jealous though of your supercharger. I think in my case I would opt for the M before I did that, but I am very interested in your results. Take care friend (ta-ta)

You can actually use the factory jack to install the rear springs!

Really informative video good sir! Thank you for the upload!
I just did the job and there are 2 comments I’d like to make:
-what I did is that I used the oem emergency “lifter” from the trunk to push the rear coils way open. Such as putting the feet of it next to the coil on the top of it on the strut tower.
    - the rear adjustment is quite weird. Like why doesn’t it have another nut to tighten the other nut. I know it doesn’t supposed to spin thus adjust the hight but still.

I’m confused, did you tighten the collar upwards to lower the tide height? Isn’t it the other way around? (Lower the collar to lower the rise height)

Im about to readjust mine as I got a different profile tire and its rubbing on my rear quarter for my wagon. Advice, you do not need to deal with the linkage. Just use a metal bar and force the arm down to remove and reinstall the spring.

Thank you for coming back with Season Three, I am looking forward to your developments. You have been inspirational to me with your series and I am copying your build with slight variations. Regarding coil overs, I am mostly city driving with one or two country trips a year, I am wondering would the coil-overs be to harsh for me? But I also want to be able to set the height to my liking. Please post a link to the source of your coil overs shocks and bits, yours Aye john.m

I FINED IT AMAZING WHY EVERY BODY BATTLES WITH FITTING THE SPRING IN ITS SO SIMPLE DISCONECT THE DROP LINK AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WILL DROP AND SPRING WILL JUST FALL OUT AND THE NEW SPRING THATS SHORTER WILL GO STRAIGHT IN WITH ONE HAND AND THE OTHER HAND JACK THE CONTROL ARM BACK UP AND ONE CAN BREAK THE DROP LINK WITH FORCING IT IS ONLY THIN ALUMIMUM WALL

Good to see another video from you! I am torn between coilovers vs aftermarket springs & shocks. How comfortable would you say your coilovers are, could you recommend them for daily use on poor roads?

Sorry, i’m a little bit confused.
Just to clarify, for the front suspension, to increase the ride height, do you move the locking rings towards the bottom of the strut or to to the top?
    Thank you

I’m not sure what pair of coil overs to go for on my 2003 325i sedan. Are these are good kit?

Yes the names H & R and Koni - both known brands for suspension components. Budget will play a big part in choosing your new coil overs. Avoid the cheaper E-bay offers and stick to quality known brands but expect to pay upwards of $1,000 for a setup that want disappoint.
