Yes, not being able to leave a bar at certain times is strange. It also is not true. It’s ridiculous. Beer is not that expensive. You have a sister in Australia. I wonder how many times she has been confronted by any of these “deadly” creatures.

You don't have to worry about the wildlife. If you are just observant in where you go that looks like something might be there you'll be fine. Creatures don't want to harm you unless they feel threatened which really cover any country. You leave them alone they'll leave you alone.
The way the lock out laws work ,after 1.30 you can leave the bar but no other venue will let you in . So the places can stay open for longer but wont let you in after 1.30. Its a controversial law that a lot of people dont like but the idea of it is to stop drunken people walking around the city getting into trouble. My city of Ballarat in Victoria was the place it was first trialed. Almost immediately the emergency departments in the hospitals halved their patients. The people who like to party hate it , the doctors love it. Oh and you can talk football if you like because its practically our religion and while people are passionate about it its all in good fun.
Na, he means you cant walk out the door and expect to get back in or into another venue. You can leave, anytime, it just means its the end of your night.
$9 for a beer is a bit expensive , that guy must of drank at the touristy type places , I've never paid more than $7 but I mainly drink in country towns
Please don’t listen to people who are not Aussies telling you about our country, not allowed out of pubs, really! Yes ok we lock people away in hotels, oh yeah don’t forget about drop koalas, Just take note of signs don’t go swimming in crock infested waters, If there’s any danger anywhere there will be warning signs. If you want to see what happens when fools ignore signs watch a show called Bondi Rescue
The lock out laws ain't in effect no more in Sydney. Past year or so now they have gone after it was introduced back 2014 with some people around that time being king hit from drunks which lead to their death or seriously injured. They have been dropped now as it has sort of killed the the night life in Sydney due to the lock out laws. Businesses closed and less people went to Sydney because of this. Don't have to worry now about leaving or coming from established premises now.
