I got to admit, yo7 became one of my top 5 you tube crochet artists!!! You’re so amazing!!! THANK YOU for going at a steady and slow pace so we can follow along. You rock lady!!!
If you haven't crocheted with a hook before this is may seem confusing but it's really not. I have crocheted for years so this is pretty easy and much faster and much prettier. Thank you!
Wow finally, I have watched a brazzilion of these tutorials and this is the FIRST one that makes any sense to me, and I am left handed. So thank you for teaching us this!!!!!
You are a life saver. I think this is the best RUclips tutorial I ever watched. Thank you so much... Lol Its getting close to the holiday, and I have a boatload of ideas and extra yarn. Happy stitching....
hi Maggie, I wish you would of used a different color other than black to teach us how to crochet with our fingers it was very hard to see your work. I couldn't see, everything was all mixed together (I mean the piece you were working on here looks like all 1 piece because of the black) if you understand what I'm trying to say. I watched your last video on how to arm knit and that was great!! perfect tutorial. I do have 1 question, with arm knitting I used the giant bulky triple and double bails of yarn the ratio is 90% acrylic 10% wool. it felt like cotton and pulled apart like cotton. omg it sheds like crazy!! it gets all over everything. How or is there a way that I can stop this shedding or at least tone the shedding down a bit. thank you jen
HI Maggie - i JUST LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! - I've knitted and crocheted for the last 62 years and never heard of 'arm' knitting or crocheting - If my mom were still alive today, she would flip over this - I was taught k & c by her when I was 5 years old - Please don't take this as a criticism, but I had to turn my 'bright' up a lot higher when you work with a dark color so I could see the stitches - I don't know if anybody else had that issue but all was fine after I did that - You're great at doing these tutorials - Just the right speed and you know when to speed things up - Bless you, darlin' - I subscribed & 'liked' & going to bring all my girlfriends over to see your videos - Thanks so much for all the time you put into doing this just for us - Cute doggies, too - monica >^..^
You are the only one I have seen, so far, that use multiple skeins to create a super bulky strand. That is fantastic because I already have tons of bulky yarn and now have a project for them.
This is honestly one of the best ideas I’ve seen! She did such an amazing tutorial and did a great job of being nice and slow. She also did such a great job explaining. I’m going to try using 15 balls of rover yarn that’s like one inch think. Let me know if you think that’s enough for an adult size blanket?...
Beautifully Wonderful Tutorial! So Clearly Taught, So Simple! Even With The Dark Color Yarn You Used! Best Hand Crochet Teaching For Me! Well Done! Thank You Ever So Much! ~Oakland California Bay Area!
i crochet and knit and this is a knitting stitch but great work. i make these blankets around the holidays because they’re a great gift. i use the yarn bee yarn bc it’s sooo soft.
My grandma God rest her soul always knited or crocheted everything. She tried to teach me . I have juvenile RA and it hurts my hands holding the needles. I am going to try this. Thank you so much.
I have chronic pain in my hands and shoulder blades. I'm pretty sure I got it from crocheting too much and not using better posture. I stopped crocheting for quite some time, but no matter what I do the pain doesn't stop. I have started to crochet again though. I really love crocheting, so I try to take breaks and stretch often. My tendons get really tight and sore, so it's necessary. I also wear compression gloves often and I use plastic hooks. I prefer them over the metal. The plastic for me are way easier to use.
Simply Maggie I was working your arm knit and it came out too holey for me. was going to take it out and do this instead. Do u think 14 skeins of that yarn would do for this blanket?
I love learning how to do different things then just loom knitting which is what I was taught. I listen to your videos but Lost my vision around five years ago and find it very difficult to try to follow you sometimes. This however you did teach me to Armitt and greatly enjoyed that just have problems finding yarn especially online. Any pointers you can give me for learning to crochet without being able to see your videos would be greatly appreciated! Thanks advance
I typically don't comment, but... I'm gonna disagree with most everybody. The black allowed the work to stand alone without the distraction of following this color or that, especially against the whi6e backdrop. The way you separated the stitches, making them look kinda like a "Zorro Mask" allowed me to (FINALLY) get a clear picture of where I need to pull the yarn through for the double loop thingy. If you couldn't tell I'm a complete novice at this blanket making business! Lol. Thanks for the tutorial, I look forward to watching more.
Great video, and I'm gonna use this tutorial to make my first man-made blanket. But I have a question... if I want to change colour or I simply need to add some yarn, how do I do that? I am a very beginner, so those things are also new for me. Thank you 😘
I did a chain of 40 and so far through 15 skeins. Long but not wide. I am thinking to unravel and do a chain of 50 and make throw blanket size. Maybe my fingers are just too big
Started this with a size 5 yarn today. Having some trouble with finding all my loops when I get near the end. 2 hours and I have about 5 rows, I think. Looks great so far though! One hour has to be for experts! It is getting easier to find loops as I do more rows. Hoping to have a lap blanket done for Christmas.
I love the fact you can use your actual hand because I love to crochet but I ra and using the needles I can't crochet for that long at all . Can I ask you what is the name of the yarn that is huge and people are using there entire hand to crochet with it ? And thanks so much for sharing I am a new subscriber so I have to go watch all your other videos lol
Hi Maggie I also support Jennifer C's comment , Lighter shades are easier to follow for beginners like me . oh sorry , I am Meera Nagavalli from Kerala , S India.......but I am a grt fan of ur tutorials.......lv & tk care...Bye
*question* Do you skip the 1st 2 stitiches when working off the initial chain? Then just skip the 1st (working stitch) when crocheting from row to row (not the chain)
Great tutorial, never done this before and its coming out great! Question, as I'm ready to finish, 3 of the sides look the same with the single chain but the "working side" still looks different. How do i finish off this side so all 4 sides match?
I would love to make this blanket just like yours. The serenity active yarn is no longer available. Would you be able to suggest another yarn that would give the same look and results. Thank you so much. Love your videos and creations.
If you make a chain of 30, you should actually have 29 stitches in your work after row one. You've 'lost' the first chain as your step up to the next row.
She did not actually start with the second chain from her loop , if you watch it you will see she said second chain but did the stitch in the back of the first chain stitch.
Hi, maybe you have found your answer already but I want to answer people with the same question. So, when you run out of a skein simply attach your new yarn by tyeing it into a knot with the old yarn you have just ran out of. Hope this helps others.
Is there a similar yarn that would work other than the Deborah Orville one? I live in Canada and none of my local stores have it. Maybe an option at michaels?
This took 12 and she made a foot at the beginning using just under the first three. I would say 15 to be safe. You can always add a border of a different color to increase the size if it ends up a bit small.
unfortunately my website network is under maintenance at the moment😞 I'm not sure when it will be back up. I haven't finished the blanket quite yet, but I plan on having the measurements and yardage of yarn on my website tomorrow! So far I'm on row 21 and have used 6 skeins.
This was so confusing I am a beginner and thought I would try this I was with her until she was going to the second row I re did this 3 times and could never do it the right way could you do another video and try to be less confusing I never made it to the second row
Thank you!
I teach people with fingers first so they can easily see the mechanics of the looping.
Wow finally, I have watched a brazzilion of these tutorials and this is the FIRST one that makes any sense to me, and I am left handed. So thank you for teaching us this!!!!!
Your way of working row 2 and so on is much easier than I’ve seen in other vids. Thanks
You are a life saver. I think this is the best RUclips tutorial I ever watched. Thank you so much... Lol Its getting close to the holiday, and I have a boatload of ideas and extra yarn. Happy stitching....

Poppy L I do agree. I was about to make a suggestion for Maggie to use bright color of yarns in future too, dark color is very hard to see.

I really appreciate how you don't show just one or two stitches and then fast forward the rest of the video. I can't wait to try this. Thank you!
You are the only one I have seen, so far, that use multiple skeins to create a super bulky strand. That is fantastic because I already have tons of bulky yarn and now have a project for them.
This was so useful I made my first crochet item ever 💕✨

very pretty. so easy. so many color options. wow. perfect gift. what a lovely wedding gift this would be!
This was so much fun! Thank you for excellent instructions. 🙂 ❤️
i crochet and knit and this is a knitting stitch but great work. i make these blankets around the holidays because they’re a great gift. i use the yarn bee yarn bc it’s sooo soft.
I have crocheted for 56 years and it certainly is a crochet stitch.
Love this so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing
You’re the first tutorial that I actually understood thank you
My grandma God rest her soul always knited or crocheted everything. She tried to teach me . I have juvenile RA and it hurts my hands holding the needles. I am going to try this. Thank you so much.
Jessica Klawon I don’t know if it helps because I️ don’t have the condition but maybe try an ergonomic crochet hook?

bought my yarn today, gonna spend my Saturday making a blanket
Great tutorial I will try this in yellow for a throw for my accent chair. Thanks so much!💗
I already have that exact yarn in my collection!! I sell what I knit-I have over 40 balls of yarn currently! this is beautiful :)
The yarn is so easy to work with! Thank you! I look forward to sending this blanket off to whoever purchases it.
Simply Maggie I was working your arm knit and it came out too holey for me. was going to take it out and do this instead. Do u think 14 skeins of that yarn would do for this blanket?
where do you sell them ?
This was no doubt, the best tutorial I have seen!

Faith Newton Hi there! A couple of questions: Have you ever crocheted before? Do you know how to make a slip knot?
hitsuzen11 I can do a slip knot but do not know how to crochet
I typically don't comment, but... I'm gonna disagree with most everybody. The black allowed the work to stand alone without the distraction of following this color or that, especially against the whi6e backdrop. love the instruction. i already crochet, but i want to try this. love the color of the yarn!
awesome! I've been trying t learn how to crochet. I find it easier than knitting.
Great tutorial. I will be trying this. Please use a more eye friendly colour in future.
I love your teaching. Thank you 😊
I love it ! How many skeins did you use?
Great video, and I'm gonna use this tutorial to make my first man-made blanket. But I have a question... if I want to change colour or I simply need to add some yarn, how do I do that? I am a very beginner, so those things are also new for me.

I knit but for some reason crocheting seemed harder. Thanks so much for this. Making a blanket this weekend.
Knitting is easier for me. I have trouble keeping the proper tension with crochet.
so cool I saved it. I'm a noob but this looks not as hard as some stuff I seen
Hi Maggie, I know this is an old vid, but can u please re-due this vid in a different color?
You just choose a different color
I would like to see it in another colour too. It's hard to see exactly what's going on with the yarn being so dark
Approximately how many yards of yarn do you need to complete this project?
I love the fact you can use your actual hand because I love to crochet but I ra and using the needles I can't crochet for that long at all . Can I ask you what is the name of the yarn that is huge and people are using there entire hand to crochet with it ? You're very welcome. Have fun!
Nice video. Thank you for posting.
She has beautiful yarn
Hi Maggie I also support Jennifer C's comment , Lighter shades are easier to follow for beginners like me . oh sorry , I am Meera Nagavalli from Kerala , S India.......but I am a grt fan of ur tutorials.......lv & tk care...Bye
So beautiful! I can't wait to make one! How many skeins of yarn did you use in total? So I know how much to buy!
That's what I want to know.
I made one and used 8
does she even talk about the size brand and details of the yarn, not that we can see what she's doing with it.
*question*
Do you skip the 1st 2 stitiches when working off the initial chain? Then just skip the 1st (working stitch) when crocheting from row to row (not the chain)
Can you do this with one strand rather than 3?
great fun . wow no hooks used. fun fun
Best tutorial!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Nicely done.
Great tutorial, never done this before and its coming out great! Question, as I'm ready to finish, 3 of the sides look the same with the single chain but the "working side" still looks different. How do i finish off this side so all 4 sides match?
Love this video, so helpful! (: Maggie, how would I add new yarn to the blanket? Thanks!
Great tutorial!
I would love to make this blanket just like yours. The serenity active yarn is no longer available. Would you be able to suggest another yarn that would give the same look and results. Thank you so much. Love your videos and creations.
You make it look so easy
I made and gave this Blanket, my friend loves it
Karen Patterson how many skeins did you use in the end? Ty
hello fantastic video, I wanted to ask you how many balls did you use and how many grams was a ball?
How many skeins did you use and what was the finished size?
How much yarn balls do i need for this? I am a beginner and i want to know how you arrange the yarn ball in three strands
If i wanted to use this method to make a baby blanket, how many stitches should I cast??
This was super helpful! Thank you :)
Can Merino wool be used in this project? If so how many skeins or how many 1lbs.
you are awesome!! such an inspiration
Thank you so much!
You are so talented! Ur gunna be a great mom! 6
Ddnt mean to add the 6 ^o^ ;-)
Why do you turn your work (approximately 10 minutes in)? Is it essential?
Hi Maggie and viewers, I've never crocheted before. Will this been too heavy for a baby blanket. If so what weight yarn should I pick? Thank you
Try starting with one strand of super bulky, non shedding yarn
@@SimplyMaggieblog thank you so much x
Thank you for sharing.
beautiful! cant wait to start my knitting super, excited also do you know how yo knitt baby stuff?
I knit some baby items. you can see them on my instagram @simplymaggieblog
Simply Maggie
does it have to be chunky yarn? TY :)
very nice
how much yarn is needed and what is the final size of the blanket?
How do you make your tassels?
I would like to add this fixes the problem I've been having
Best ever congrats
Would chunky chenille yarn work to?
How much yarn would I have to use to make a blanket with yarn?
If you make a chain of 30, you should actually have 29 stitches in your work after row one. You've 'lost' the first chain as your step up to the next row.
I was thinking the same thing! lol. But it somehow worked out. Unless she added a stitch that we didn't hear about.
Also, maybe she counted the slip knot as one and when she had that on her finger, she then said to chain 30. ;)
She did not actually start with the second chain from her loop , if you watch it you will see she said second chain but did the stitch in the back of the first chain stitch.
She did add an extra stitch when going up a row.
Good point/advice
Hi! Just wanted to know how to continue the stitch when a skein has run out and I'm starting a new skein? Thanks.
Maybe an option at michaels?
any super bulky yarn
Simply Maggie what's the name of the book you have this in? Would love to know.
How do you add the next three skenes of yarn when you are close to the end of the first three?
I attach the new strands to the old strands with a triple knot and trim the excess to the shape of the knot.
How many skeins of yarn did you use?
Great tutorial; Bad choice of color. Hard to see on black yarn.
How do you put three strings to make one string?
You just hold three strands and use them as if they were one
You can also use this brilliant method, Navajo three strand, which only uses one ball at a time! ruclips.net/video/-Vj0gVpFCGc/видео.html
I am a newbie. How do you add more skeins when you run out of the first 3?
I tie a really tight triple knot and trim the excess to the shape of the knot.
can you so this with any sort of wool
Where can I buy this yarn 🧶 in Spain?
how many skeins needed for this blanket?
How much did this cost to make?
How many skeins would you use for a full adult sized blanket?
She used about 3 skeins per foot of blanket, so however many feet long you want it (6?) times 3 (18) to get your total.
Okay so what happens when you run out of yarn? How do you continue?
I Still Really Dont Get How To Finger Croshe Or How To Spell It Ethier And My Sister Is Really Good At It
is it stiff? when your turning your work the blanket looks stiff and not very cozy how did it turn out?
Not when the blanket is finished. See more photos on my instagram account. They are super squishy blankets.
pretty
Do you or can you show in left handed versio
if I wanted to use a hook, what size would you recommend
Feonalilly I believe a size X would work
So this is roughly 4' X 3' How many skeins would I need for say 5'x4'?
This took 12 and she made a foot at the beginning using just under the first three. I would say 15 to be safe.
You can always add a border of a different color to increase the size if it ends up a bit small.
does this yarn shed?
Hi! I saw that you said you make a triple knot and shape it to start the next skeins, but I have no clue what that means! Could you elaborate a bit?
Rachele R I think by triple knot she just meant she took all the ends and tied them together 3 times to add new skeins
You shouldn't have used black... I can't see anything that your doing
How warm are blankets like this?
VERY warm. It's so much yarn so it's quite heavy
My phone for some reason won't connect to your blog. How many things of yarn did you use and how many links long was it?
unfortunately my website network is under maintenance at the moment😞 I'm not sure when it will be back up. I haven't finished the blanket quite yet, but I plan on having the measurements and yardage of yarn on my website tomorrow! So far I'm on row 21 and have used 6 skeins.
OK. :) Thank you so much for the quick reply.
You're welcome

Me watching this: *gasp* IM the crochet hook
This was so confusing I am a beginner and thought I would try this I was with her until she was going to the second row I re did this 3 times and could never do it the right way could you do another video and try to be less confusing I never made it to the second row
