Thank you so much for simplifying the arm knitting process and for sharing your skills in this video. Viewers will have a fun project and cute snuggle blanket thanks to your help.
I want to recommend a review of what a "square knot" actually is. Although you called it a "square knot" in this video, the knot you demonstrated in this video is most commonly known as a "granny knot." Because of its spiraling nature, a granny knot has much less holding strength than an actual square knot does.
For a knot to truly be a square knot, the crossing and tucking under of tail ends has to be from opposite sides of the knot each time. (First cross the RIGHT tail end behind and tuck it through, next cross LEFT tail end behind and tuck it through, and repeat as often as desired... right then left.) The granny knot you demonstrated crosses behind and tucks under from only the right hand all three times.
I mean no sassy malice. I just know how disappointing it is to have a project unravel because the granny knot slipped out--as it is well known to do--and don't want your viewers to experience that same disappointment.

Thank you for this video. This is the yarn I read that you suggested as your favorite. My daughter wants me to make a blanket that's big enough for she and her husband to snuggle under. I've never arm knitted before so I I don't know how much yarn I would need and how to figure out a decent size. Do you have any suggestions for me? So do you have any tips on how I can figure out how much yarn I would need or measurements? If there's a pattern somewhere that would be great? I know this is essentially pretty straightforward and fortunately this is what my daughter would like.

I really struggled to tighten all my stitches, and had to have a loose stitch to make sure i didn't loose feeling in my arms (happened a few times and had to drop it and restart), I really tried but might have to big arms for this, to get a close knit similar to your result.
I have got some more wool to try again, but was thinking about knitting using your arm technique but using PVC Pipes of about 2"s'
Have you done this before or could give me any advice?

I couldn't keep it as tight as I wanted and I was really giving my wrists a run for their money, trying to keep my stitches small.

I’m 13 almost 14 and found this very hard at first. I re started 3 times before I got the hang of it. Some people asked if you want to stop how do you? I found if you put all the lops on a poll or a different color string and be very careful with the transition between your arm and other string you should be good. And then when you want to start you put the lops on the string or poll back on your arm.
