Just wanted to say all the effort you put into these videos is excellent. Superb resource. Just changed my flywheel clutch and bearing as the bearing was making noises last few weeks. Used this video. The '12 V60 1.6D redesign is slightly different. Have to drop the subframe to get the gearbox out. The wishbone setup is slightly different than here. bit of a pain and the ground strap mount can cease as it shares a stud with another bolt. So ended up cutting it snip snip and redoing the terminal on the cable. I think the gearbox may be heavier too as it seems to have more bulk visually. Couldn't man handle it had to drop with motorcycle jack. The video was a gold mine. Thanks for the efforts.

Hi that bolt at 10:56 is a pain in the... some of the psa 1.6 hdi engines have rounded bolts with torx or can't be removed until you loosen the gearbox. You did a nice job here Kevin. Keep up the good work!! Greetz from the Netherlands

How many clutch do you typically change in a day it took me 5 hours to do my c30 including a full service while I was there I was bloody knackered after it to do it day in day out regardless of the weather you sir are a machine not an easy job while on the floor

Hi Kevin when you fitted the clutch plate i know there's a certain way they go gearbox side etc, checked my clutch plate and the gearbox side is the flat end on my Sachs and your plate is opposite?. I have a real heavy clutch pedal and 1st gear is a nightmare even after bleeding several times.. thanks in advance

It’s just great doing a clutch on the floor ain’t it ..how did you get on with the A4.., was the the in-line gearbox ..,, .., not too much of a fan of them😆😁..,, Honestly I highly rate the Milwaukee.., I wouldn’t leave home without it .., Which dealership are you in .., I went through two main dealers and leaned a lot on the courses ....
I started doing weekends servicing .,, then moved onto timing belts only .., built a website and specialised in clutches and am always booked up 3-4 weeks in advance ... I’ve got enough work to for the both of us two weeks upfront ... where about’s are you ..

I’m about 30 mins from Milton Keynes .., I was at land rover stratstone Newport Parnell .. I took advantages of their advanced engine and transmission courses at their academy in Warwickshire .. I went up to level 3.. Very grateful for that. My advice is too always go on courses. . Good learning .. But being self employed is on a next level .. the network is better now. Financially outweighs being employed. which it boils down to when we surpass the age of 30..,

Not a coincidence. That’s where it needs to be. As it’s a reference for the crank sensor. Otherwise if not aligned vehicle will have a permanent misfire

30:15 By the life of this poor old me. I'll never understand why people don't change the crank seal. When it's right there and than. It's cheap, simple and quite easy. The idea of doing it all again one fine day. Because it start leaking... It would take an extra 5 minutes top! ;-) I've seen too many going back because of that. Than have to deal with a clutch drenched in oil! What a pain in the "back part". LOL 😂😂 Either case thumbs up for the well done video! Really tight spot.
I will change the dmf of my v60 on saturday. The seal just gets pulled out with a screwdriver or something? And pushed in by hand? Or is there something important to know?

DJR .., in the case of rear main seal if its leaking I will always clean and silicone gasket it back up.., works just as good as the real thing ... I never machine any parts. Always replace., i have very up to date software that is linked to DVLA/Euro Car Parts and Autodata.., so I always know everything about my repair/parts before I actually tackle it ..,

It doesn’t disintegrate over time .,, and will stop any oxidisation from the bolts into the threads ... that white powdery stuff that seizes bolts ... and on the spline will stop the dry rust.,, which a lot of the time binds the clutch plate and causes premature clutch wear ...

For this particular vehicle the customer does towing. So I combined the best parts for that purpose.,, it came to a bit more in cost but for a daily car I would have used a LUK kit.

Hey Stephen .., I Use LUK. SACHS and Valeo as they are the original fitted for most European cars. Exedy and Aisin for Far East cars as they are the original for that market. With this one that’s what the manufacturer recommended and that what was in the car .. I always tend to replace like for likes .. for keep in mind the 4007.., hope you’re keeping well and thanks for the support ...
Hi mate. Why have you fit DMF Luk with Sachs clutch kit? I heard something as Luk Dmf must be fitted only with Luk clutch kit and and the Dmf must be fitted/setted with a special tool and Sachs dmf can be fitted with different flywheel brand .
Yes, gsf agree with what I said but only on some Vag cars. Where are you based mate? As mine just been changed and the Dmf is noisy ( full cluch including master Luk )... trying to understand whats wrong.

This particular model. Very highly rated. It’s the same engine/gearbox in all the Ford 1.6 in the Mini Cooper and all the French cars … it’s been in use for over 15 years with minimal change those engines /gearbox.
That is the one .., with the famous turbo 😁😆.., after you replace the turbo you realise all the metal filings has damaged the big big end bearings and oil pump .., 😁😁..,
@@WMCS i remember reading about a taxi firm somewhere that had 12 Picassos which had the first version of the 1.6 hdi. ( so we're talking 2006/7) and seven cars were off the road with wrecked cranks after turbo failures.
It think it’s been rectified on the newer ones. I stripped one down and the impeller bearing was melted. It looked like it couldn’t handle the heat .., which is what turbo pretty much lives on.
Only on the double cam shaft D4164T was the issue on, the D4162T is a decent engine, single cam shaft, mine has 200K miles. Issue was also generated by a filter mesh that was on the oil banjo bolt which was getting clogged and starving the turbo from any cooling, therefore the fails. I know it`s a old video but in case you see the comment, Kevin, do you work with parts provided by the client?

ok it's clear, in the volvo v40 d2 the cranck sensor is on the side of the timing belt pulley. could it be a reference for balancing?

Do you ever come across leaking rear main seals, flywheels that require machining or other issues that might prevent you from carrying out a repair?

Go for LUK as a safe bet for clutch. But use a Sachs for DMF as they are more durable in my opinion.

It think it’s been rectified on the newer ones. I stripped one down and the impeller bearing was melted. It looked like it couldn’t handle the heat .., which is what turbo pretty much lives on.
Only on the double cam shaft D4164T was the issue on, the D4162T is a decent engine, single cam shaft, mine has 200K miles. Issue was also generated by a filter mesh that was on the oil banjo bolt which was getting clogged and starving the turbo from any cooling, therefore the fails. I know it`s a old video but in case you see the comment, Kevin, do you work with parts provided by the client?
