Hi Denny, I enjoy the Bullet truck adventures (I have a LN65 ex. comp truck very similar to yours with these same shackles, but I only run 35’s) You are missing the point/advantage the swivel/hinged shackles give. In droop (extension) the eye-to-eye distance of the 2 types of shackles look very similar. But it is in compression (up travel) where the swivel/hinged type gives the advantage. Your existing straight shackle looks about 250-300mm eye to eye, but the swivel shackle when compressed (or at rest) is about 110mm eye to eye so you should pick up 100-150mm more of up travel. But because your wheels are hitting your tray on up travel you don’t get the advantage. How about putting some smaller dia. tyres on for a test and then maybe modify your tray for clearance. Anyway I always enjoy your videos.
Love the R&D episodes like this, And I love the commitment to staying leafs on Bullet. Keep the great content coming, Denny! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers heaps, leaf springs rule!!!!!!

Thanks heaps for commenting and yes great tip, next video on Sunday will be the actual driving on them test..
Not surprised the travel was the same lol. It’s a solid axle and your tyre was completely hard up against your tray.
Thanks for taking time to comment...
Would ya get more travel if the other tyre wasn’t touching tray?
Potentially and thanks for commenting..
did you ever consider doing some major welding to shorten the width of the rear spring mounts to allow for more flex?
Interesting, thanks for that thought..
Interesting comparison
Cheers Jim..
awesome Denny
Thanks 👍
What's this premiere just push play
Love ya mate!!!!
I agree
Drop shackles don’t unload
