As boring as X7 is, I really love its soundtrack, particularly Gungaroo's theme, Sigma's theme, and Code Crush. Also, apparently Red was a former member of Repliforce, which to my knowledge isn't mentioned in the game. The story and voice direction could've been handled a lot better in X7. These voice actors have been way better in games like Bomberman and Tekken.
thats weird that red being part of repliforce(possibly giving a hint to axel's creator) was not shown in game since outside of him not wanting sigma to hurt axel and his men when he controls them(which is the one thing alongside the ingame showing of x's potential being the one thing i liked about the story.) red just felt like a random thug(which i get is the point since the world is still recovering from the eurasia and nightmare disasters so crime gangs would take advantage of it with axel's abilities helping get an edge.) with it being confusing to me if the mavericks we fought are part of red alert or random criminals.

I like this review because it mirrors exactly how I feel about X7. It may be the worst of the X games right along side X6, but it still has it's highlights. It's slow, the voice acting is shit, and the camera angles are awful, but ultimately I say it's still worth a playthrough and if you're a die hard fan of everything Mega Man Like myself, it's fun to come back to once in a blue moon, but I also still understand why people hate it. Honestly, if it were simply sped up x2 it would be a decent title.

This game has multiple endings. Depending on who kills Sigma, you'll see Axl eager to prove himself and X whining, Zero fearing X turning evil, or... X whining and Axl eager to prove himself.

They are, however, most definitely infected with the Sigma Virus, but the extent to which varies, as some of them seem completely normal (Soldier Stonekong, Vanishing Gungaroo), while others are far, far gone (Assuming he's a member of Red Alert, Flame Hyenard is the perfect example of this).

I'm actually really excited for you to cover the Zero games for the GBA because I never played Mega Man much as a kid because I was so bad at them, but one of the Zero games I remember playing a lot and actually doing really well. Years later my Mega Man Fan friend told me this was VERY odd because the Zero games are so much harder than traditional Mega Man games, so...I dunno. Looking forward to it. Keep up the great work.

I think the real reason you couldn't immediately use Armor Parts you get in X5 and X6 is because if they did let you, you'd probably lose the armor parts you were wearing when you get a part for a different armor. For example; you got the Blade Armor Boots, and you play a level that has the Shadow Armor Helmet, so when you get it, the armor overwrites what you have equipped, so now you don't have your Blade Armor Boots until you go back to the Stage Select screen. It'd be better if you could equip parts from both armors simultaneously, but their designs wouldn't go well together. It'd look like a mess. Thankfully in X8, you can equip parts from both armor sets, since the Neutral Armor has a modular design that blends the armors together without clashing too much, at the cost of making Neutral, Icarus, Hermes, and Ultimate look the same with only a difference in colors,
X7 has always been an enigma to me. I do kinda have that "A Bad Game is worse than a Broken Game" mentality which is why I'd always say that X6 is worse than X7. But revisiting it this past week to get footage of it... phew, I think I'm starting to go back on that mind-set, and your video perfectly explains why. Everything feels slow and clunky, and when a game leaves me uncomfortable and boring before even beating the intro stage, I know that's not a good sign. Really not looking forwards to finishing this game.
If a bad game is worse than a broken game, then shouldn't that mean X6 is better? X6's design is fundamentally broken, the level design expects you to do things that are impossible for you to do at certain points, and as Johnny showed the game has serious glitches. X7 is technically sound for the most part, but an absolute chore. As a result, I also enjoy X6 more. To put it one way, X6 has more personality. It's like Sonic 06 vs Sonic Boom. Sure, 06 is a buggy, unfinished mess, but it has so much potential that can be seen underneath it, and if the game had the proper amount of time to cook then it would be fairly average, if not decent. But Sonic Boom from a game design perspective is tedious, repetitive, slow moving, and uninteresting, no amount of polish could make that game fun.
Nerdy George Washington I don’t find Rise of Lyric’s voice acting horrible (if anything, its amazing. Also, my compliments for being the start of Amy’s voice actress not sucking completely). The problem is that I can’t appreciate the great voice acting when the characters cannot stop saying the same stupid one-liners every 5 seconds. And while the presentation as a whole sucks in Rise of Lyric, especially in Co-op mode, at least the pre-rendered cutscenes have great animations, something I can’t say for X7. That’s not to derail your argument about 06 being the better title because I agree with you. I’m just saying that I don’t think you are giving RoL credit where it’s due (for whatever the credit is worth)
Ugh. Mega Man X7 was easily the worst X game for me. It and X3 were the only X games I straight up did not like when I did my X marathon earlier this year. The game is pretty dull and it was full of frustration, particularly when I went for 100% completion. Whoever decided that reploids needed to die in 1 hit is evil. It wasn't too hard except for Flame Hynard and the one stage where it's like a spiral stair or something. (NOTE: Thanks for that Bomb tip, Johnny). This is easily the X game that's the most annoying to 100%, and I don't really recommend it. I liked Axl well enough, especially when I turned on the rapid fire. Axl and X were my main team for a majority of my playtime. But, they all felt like pale imitations of what came previously. The game just isn't fun, I can't stress that enough. I hate all the bosses, with their reptitive voice clips and tedious patterns. I hate this game. It isn't quite the same hate as X3, that I hated more for the frustration factor. X7 was more hated for being boring and visually dull, though frustration is a prime factor. I can understand why people don't like X6, but I'm surprised people will say it's worse then X7. I can see it somewhat, but I disagree. I don't have much else to say about X7 other then repeatedly saying it's terrible, Johnny covered most of my problems with it. X7 was the lowpoint for my X marathon, thankfully X8 ended things on a positive note for me. Don't bother with this, unless you want to experience the entire series like I did.
Oh, I'm not saying X3 was as terrible as X7. I'm not that crazy. I was just saying it and X7 were the only X games I didn't like when I played through them.
I'm currently doing my own playthrough of X7 on the Legacy Collection. And while the game is indeed frustrating at times, I'm finding it enjoyable. I even rescued all the hostages and unlocked X halfway through the Mavricks. Granted, I did restart a couple of levels and had to use Rookie Hunter in the 1st few stages, but still felt accomplished. But yeah, the menue system is unnecessarily tedious.
Zero's voice sounds like a disappointed parent. I swear in the intro stage, listen to when he says "What's going on?" When the stage boss drops down, he sounds like he's scolding his two children for the fifth time.
One small thing you can do to speed up bosses is set the region from US to UK which for some reason gives you a 20% boost in overall damage. For some reason the US release reduces all your attacks and weapons damage by 1 which adds up on bosses, but the JP and UK version have the original damage values intact, which is great because of the Region Select feature on Legacy Collection.
And here we go, a third time. This is really interesting, I wonder what would have happened if this change was never made. A simple damage reduction/increase doesn't really do much to game design (cough Zelda Hero mode cough), but it sure would get people to shut up.

On Axls copy ability: This is never clearly stated in the game itself, you become invulnerable to all enemies of the same type you copied.
I'm actually really excited for you to cover the Zero games for the GBA because I never played Mega Man much as a kid because I was so bad at them, but one of the Zero games I remember playing a lot and actually doing really well. Years later my Mega Man Fan friend told me this was VERY odd because the Zero games are so much harder than traditional Mega Man games, so...I dunno. Looking forward to it. Keep up the great work.

JotaroPowered Johnny show he got two Neptunia games donated to him when he did his Vs Naruto clash of ninja video which was part of the 2nd donator marathon. He said he might look into the those games during a anime marathon. So really it will happen when it happens. Just don’t expect it to happen anytime remotely soon.

12:17 You know Johnny, the way that this entire sentence was phrased could possibly make it sound like you want people who aren't aware of Flame Hyenard to burn to the ground.
I think the real reason you couldn't immediately use Armor Parts you get in X5 and X6 is because if they did let you, you'd probably lose the armor parts you were wearing when you get a part for a different armor.
For example; you got the Blade Armor Boots, and you play a level that has the Shadow Armor Helmet, so when you get it, the armor overwrites what you have equipped, so now you don't have your Blade Armor Boots until you go back to the Stage Select screen. It'd be better if you could equip parts from both armors simultaneously, but their designs wouldn't go well together. It'd look like a mess.
Thankfully in X8, you can equip parts from both armor sets, since the Neutral Armor has a modular design that blends the armors together without clashing too much, at the cost of making Neutral, Icarus, Hermes, and Ultimate look the same with only a difference in colors,
Another reason was prob to cut down on the number of spites to make.

X7 has always been an enigma to me. I do kinda have that "A Bad Game is worse than a Broken Game" mentality which is why I'd always say that X6 is worse than X7. But revisiting it this past week to get footage of it... phew, I think I'm starting to go back on that mind-set, and your video perfectly explains why. Everything feels slow and clunky, and when a game leaves me uncomfortable and boring before even beating the intro stage, I know that's not a good sign.
Really not looking forwards to finishing this game.
If a bad game is worse than a broken game, then shouldn't that mean X6 is better? X6's design is fundamentally broken, the level design expects you to do things that are impossible for you to do at certain points, and as Johnny showed the game has serious glitches. X7 is technically sound for the most part, but an absolute chore. As a result, I also enjoy X6 more. To put it one way, X6 has more personality. It's like Sonic 06 vs Sonic Boom. Sure, 06 is a buggy, unfinished mess, but it has so much potential that can be seen underneath it, and if the game had the proper amount of time to cook then it would be fairly average, if not decent. But Sonic Boom from a game design perspective is tedious, repetitive, slow moving, and uninteresting, no amount of polish could make that game fun.
Nerdy George Washington I don’t find Rise of Lyric’s voice acting horrible (if anything, its amazing. Also, my compliments for being the start of Amy’s voice actress not sucking completely). The problem is that I can’t appreciate the great voice acting when the characters cannot stop saying the same stupid one-liners every 5 seconds. And while the presentation as a whole sucks in Rise of Lyric, especially in Co-op mode, at least the pre-rendered cutscenes have great animations, something I can’t say for X7.
That’s not to derail your argument about 06 being the better title because I agree with you. I’m just saying that I don’t think you are giving RoL credit where it’s due (for whatever the credit is worth)

Ugh. Mega Man X7 was easily the worst X game for me. It and X3 were the only X games I straight up did not like when I did my X marathon earlier this year. The game is pretty dull and it was full of frustration, particularly when I went for 100% completion. Whoever decided that reploids needed to die in 1 hit is evil. It wasn't too hard except for Flame Hynard and the one stage where it's like a spiral stair or something. (NOTE: Thanks for that Bomb tip, Johnny). This is easily the X game that's the most annoying to 100%, and I don't really recommend it.
I liked Axl well enough, especially when I turned on the rapid fire. Axl and X were my main team for a majority of my playtime. But, they all felt like pale imitations of what came previously. The game just isn't fun, I can't stress that enough. I hate all the bosses, with their reptitive voice clips and tedious patterns.
I hate this game. It isn't quite the same hate as X3, that I hated more for the frustration factor. X7 was more hated for being boring and visually dull, though frustration is a prime factor. I can understand why people don't like X6, but I'm surprised people will say it's worse then X7. I can see it somewhat, but I disagree.
I don't have much else to say about X7 other then repeatedly saying it's terrible, Johnny covered most of my problems with it. X7 was the lowpoint for my X marathon, thankfully X8 ended things on a positive note for me. Don't bother with this, unless you want to experience the entire series like I did.
I’d still take X3 or X6 over X7 any day. 3D just doesn’t work for some games but at least they tried.

I'm currently doing my own playthrough of X7 on the Legacy Collection. And while the game is indeed frustrating at times, I'm finding it enjoyable. I even rescued all the hostages and unlocked X halfway through the Mavricks. Granted, I did restart a couple of levels and had to use Rookie Hunter in the 1st few stages, but still felt accomplished. But yeah, the menue system is unnecessarily tedious.
It's not frustrating and in places, it's kiiiinda fun

Zero's voice sounds like a disappointed parent. I swear in the intro stage, listen to when he says "What's going on?" When the stage boss drops down, he sounds like he's scolding his two children for the fifth time.
X in this game kinda sounds 3like Rodney Copperbottom.

One small thing you can do to speed up bosses is set the region from US to UK which for some reason gives you a 20% boost in overall damage. For some reason the US release reduces all your attacks and weapons damage by 1 which adds up on bosses, but the JP and UK version have the original damage values intact, which is great because of the Region Select feature on Legacy Collection.
And here we go, a third time. This is really interesting, I wonder what would have happened if this change was never made. A simple damage reduction/increase doesn't really do much to game design (cough Zelda Hero mode cough), but it sure would get people to shut up.
