I don’t really like the style of PS2 graphics, but X7 is just so fucking gross to look at, especially the original release
basically my reaction to every n64 game back in the day. After what beauty we had on SNES turned into polygonal gray muddy mess which looks completely dead on n64. How i fucking hated that console. Everything looked like a massive step down or downright bootleg.
It looks about as good as Mighty No 9
3D PS1 games don't look like this.
What makes Flame Hyenard infamous is his catchphrase "BURN! BURN TO THE GROUND". Everytime a new line plays, it interrups the previous one. Resulting in a series of Insufferable screeching!

Looking at this gameplay made me think...what if we had a Megaman X game in the style of a hack and slash like Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising or something that sounds awesome
Megaman zero kinda did that already though. I recommend you play it though it's a beautiful story series. :)
What if Capcom made a Devil may cry game with Zero instead of Dante? That would probably be friggin awesome.

This game has multiple endings. Depending on who kills Sigma, you'll see Axl eager to prove himself and X whining, Zero fearing X turning evil, or... X whining and Axl eager to prove himself.
The saddest thing is...I’d rather play X7 than Mighty No 9....

Thinking about it, MN9 does share several flaws with X7, with the worst one being the lack of mouth movement on characters.

@@EightThreeEight MN9 is faster, if only because X7 slows you down in a myriad of ways. Loading screens, general gameplay, the bosses, etc.
As boring as X7 is, I really love its soundtrack, particularly Gungaroo's theme, Sigma's theme, and Code Crush.
Also, apparently Red was a former member of Repliforce, which to my knowledge isn't mentioned in the game. The story and voice direction could've been handled a lot better in X7. These voice actors have been way better in games like Bomberman and Tekken.

thats weird that red being part of repliforce(possibly giving a hint to axel's creator) was not shown in game since outside of him not wanting sigma to hurt axel and his men when he controls them(which is the one thing alongside the ingame showing of x's potential being the one thing i liked about the story.) red just felt like a random thug(which i get is the point since the world is still recovering from the eurasia and nightmare disasters so crime gangs would take advantage of it with axel's abilities helping get an edge.) with it being confusing to me if the mavericks we fought are part of red alert or random criminals.
And like mentioned before, Castlevania.

I do like how Johnny went in non bias and gave it a fair review and didn't rant about it the whole time. He had both positive and negative things to say about the game and gave this game the honest review it deserved. Wasn't disappointed

I'm actually really excited for you to cover the Zero games for the GBA because I never played Mega Man much as a kid because I was so bad at them, but one of the Zero games I remember playing a lot and actually doing really well. Years later my Mega Man Fan friend told me this was VERY odd because the Zero games are so much harder than traditional Mega Man games, so...I dunno. Looking forward to it. Keep up the great work.

One small thing you can do to speed up bosses is set the region from US to UK which for some reason gives you a 20% boost in overall damage. For some reason the US release reduces all your attacks and weapons damage by 1 which adds up on bosses, but the JP and UK version have the original damage values intact, which is great because of the Region Select feature on Legacy Collection.
And here we go, a third time. This is really interesting, I wonder what would have happened if this change was never made. A simple damage reduction/increase doesn't really do much to game design (cough Zelda Hero mode cough), but it sure would get people to shut up.

Ugh. Mega Man X7 was easily the worst X game for me. It and X3 were the only X games I straight up did not like when I did my X marathon earlier this year. The game is pretty dull and it was full of frustration, particularly when I went for 100% completion. Whoever decided that reploids needed to die in 1 hit is evil. It wasn't too hard except for Flame Hynard and the one stage where it's like a spiral stair or something. (NOTE: Thanks for that Bomb tip, Johnny). This is easily the X game that's the most annoying to 100%, and I don't really recommend it.
I liked Axl well enough, especially when I turned on the rapid fire. Axl and X were my main team for a majority of my playtime. But, they all felt like pale imitations of what came previously. The game just isn't fun, I can't stress that enough. I hate all the bosses, with their reptitive voice clips and tedious patterns.
I hate this game. It isn't quite the same hate as X3, that I hated more for the frustration factor. X7 was more hated for being boring and visually dull, though frustration is a prime factor. I can understand why people don't like X6, but I'm surprised people will say it's worse then X7. I can see it somewhat, but I disagree.
I don't have much else to say about X7 other then repeatedly saying it's terrible, Johnny covered most of my problems with it. X7 was the lowpoint for my X marathon, thankfully X8 ended things on a positive note for me. Don't bother with this, unless you want to experience the entire series like I did.
I’d still take X3 or X6 over X7 any day. 3D just doesn’t work for some games but at least they tried.

So, we have similar opinions then. I hated X7 and X3 as well and think X6 gets too much hate. (although, I would never say X6 is good, I enjoyed it)
I'll never understand this X3 hate. To even fathom that it is bad on the same level of X6 or X7 is outrageous.

Still don’t know why Capcom decided to split the X games into two collections. I mean it’s nice I guess to just buy X1,2,3 &4 since those are regarded as some of the best. But the other half. X5 & 8 are okay but they have major flaws, but X6 and X7, dear god those games are bad. Sorry but nobody is going to buy the second X collection with those games their.
Capcom probably figured they should do the same thing they did with the classic collections. Unfortunately, X really needs to be split in three: something for the SNES games, something for the PS1 games, and something for the PS2 games (including Command Mission).
X6 and X7 are perfectly fine games. Even X5 is worth playing.
I mean, it's either one $40 collection or two $20 collections. There is literally no difference on the consumer end.

Actually, I'm the minority out there that doesn't think X3 is that great. In fact, it's my least favorite X game. Yes. Even worst than X6 & X7.
And I also think X5 & X8 are still very good games. Despite there flaws. But still really good & I would recommend them.

My recommendation for X7: Play it with Rookie Hunter Mode on, it makes things a little faster, particularly Wind Crowrang's stage, and I believe bosses go down faster with it on. Really, with Rookie Hunter Mode on, not once did I ever notice it being slow, or particularly mind it being slow.
Rookie Hunter is helpful for X7 because it doesn't have an Easy difficulty like X8 does.

Quick note Johnny, I don't know if the game tells you this, but X8 pulls that "Play in hardest mode for the true ending" thing. So do be careful you don't miss that. You'd probably play on the hardest mode without that, but I do want to hear your thoughts on that ending.

Zero's voice sounds like a disappointed parent. I swear in the intro stage, listen to when he says "What's going on?" When the stage boss drops down, he sounds like he's scolding his two children for the fifth time.

Flame Hyenard is basically the precursor to "THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME".
The Maverick Hunters kill only as a last resort, which seems to happen a lot when X is concerned.
Keep This in mind: The guy that voiced X in this game was the same guy that voiced Grey in ZX Advent
