    Killin' it as usual man. I totally forgot they still used these shuttles, let alone bought a new ACX. I'm absolutely ecstatic you caught the entire collection process, from container exchanges to the front-load dumping and on route (which by the way, definitely makes the video that much better). I love Amrep's take on the POD system, the idea of using Dumpsters (yes, with decreased capacity) easily collected and further compacted into a larger front loader really reminds me of the Dempster trash train and the original Lodal EVO system. The Freightliner is cool but i feel like it really starts defeating the purpose of having a tiny truck through there, with the huge nose and all. I feel for the drivers preferring these routes, I'd take a more challenging and interesting route over a mundane city route any day. Mad props to the drivers, they definitely have this unique system down to a science. It's a shame these shuttles didn't gain popularity with WM until more recently, would have been cool to see more of the Burros (especially around AZ) replaced with these instead of mini RLs & Retreivers that need to travel to the transfer when there's almost always a FL in the area. I definitely see why it's necessary to require recycling to be along the nearest main road, it'd be insane to send another round of shuttles through for recycle. In Parks & Sons and RADs more rural areas, they set up community recycling depots (lines of dumpsters) which I'm more used to so it was cool seeing them actually have carts. This actually does remind of a small area outside Kearny, AZ where the roads are so tight WM won't go through the streets, they all have carts along the main road secured to a post in a dirt lot.
    Amazing video Aaron, I know first hand how extremely difficult it is to film in these very rural and tight areas. couldn't have been easy to get every part of the operation here on film.

      Thanks!! Amrep did a great job engineering the shuttle system, really sucks Orange County is the only area to have them in pretty much the entire SoCal if I'm remembering correctly. Haha completely agree with you on the Freightliner, should have gotten it on a WXLL! Really hope the whole shuttle concept gains popularity in the near future. With all the increasing traffic out here, I think pairing shuttles and Curottos would be a really efficient system. You know what, community recycling would actually be a really smart thing... I'll have to ask if they've ever considered doing that out here.
      Glad you enjoyed the video and always appreciate your comments! Big props to Moises for his amazing driving skills - his pickup truck is pretty much the same length as the shuttles so he had to maneuver that through the canyon while we were chasing these guys around!

    This system is awesome!! Im very happy you were able to document the whole thing on its route. Love seeing those fls struggle to pick those cans up. Thanks for your work.

    As always, great video WMmaster626! I'm glad you caught that Wittke MR again, those trucks are beasts and one of the best combos ever. It is amazing how it lifts those giant heavy dumpsters like it was a box of feathers. Those shuttles certainly are fun to watch and I wish there were more in existence. They certainly have good speed, especially considering the tight area. I still cannot decide where is the more challenging area between here and the Sierra Madre canyon. That whole unloading the shuttle, emptying the dumpster and reattaching the dumpster was fun to watch. I'm glad you checked another truck off your list of trucks you want to find. Keep up the good work but I'm definitely looking forward to your next video featuring a Amrep or Curotto Can on residential, they are very captivating videos!

      Thanks Kevin!! I was happy to see Boni's truck again, although was hoping it would be a different MR Wittke so I can cross another one off the list! I too was surprised at how easily it lifted the bodies, Wittkes really area terrific trucks! Hopefully some Curotto footage coming up soon :) Thanks again!

      Thanks!! Was definitely thinking about the Burros in DB, sure miss those trucks! Really hoping they get more shuttles for hard to service areas like this because they do seem like good equipment.

      Sure is! Really like this system but definitely would work better if they had Curotto Cans running in the area instead of having to wait for an FL for like 20 minutes lol. Thanks man!

    This has to be the first time in years I was really captivated by a WM video. Of course Daniel was the first to film these shuttle trucks, but it’s great to finally see the FL part of the process.

    Leave it to the master to document one of the most interesting collection operations and trucks from waste management! Such a neat method of collection and glad you could share this high quality footage with us! I mean I thought topanga was tight but after seeing these streets, I will have a totally different perspective. Neat seeing that 30 Otto get dumped at 7:18! It would seem logical for more residents to have 30 gallon containers on those super tight streets, rather than having 90 gallon lids slam into people's front doors haha. Once again great, unique footage!

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  6 лет назад

      Haha! Thanks bro! Funny you mention Topanga, Moises and I were comparing Silverado to Topanga and trying to figure out which was tighter! This area was insane lol. Yeah I was thinking the same thing, having 30s might also encourage residents to throw out less = less trips to unload. I almost got hit by some flying trash at one stop due to the 90s being so full! Thanks man!

    These trucks are really neat pretty cool that the bodies can come right off. That Mack fl looks really nice and it probably handles this route way better than one of the newer fls. That full size truck must really struggle on this route. Thanks for capturing this awesome video!

    It's great to see these shuttles finally in action. Wonder how well this system would work around here, in the dense city and suburbs. About how often do the trucks fill and have to switch out? Nice finds, and thanks for taking the time to film and share this!

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  6 лет назад

      Yeah I was glad to finally catch them! I really think it has potential to be a good system in other areas. They could do maybe 25-30 carts I'd estimate. Out here it was mostly all 96 gallon carts and many had horse manure so they got filled quick. The way they run the route in the afternoon is really good. They have the Mack staged and ready and have that driver go move carts with one of the minis so they only have to go down one side. Thanks man! Glad you liked it!

    Nice video bro! Really liked that Autocar shuttle! I think I like it more than the Freightliner too ;) Funny to see the driver start at the end of the line and backup at 6:52 and other parts as well. What was the full-size truck doing at 8:16? To be honest I didn’t even know these shuttle bodies could turn into dumpsters until I saw this! It was so fun to see that CNG Mack in action too! So ironic seeing blue smoke come out of it lol normally that happens with the LNG mack wittkes. Great video dude, looks like they got a good thing going in Silverado canyon!

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  6 лет назад

      Thank you!! Yeah it's definitely a cool truck! Haha I noticed it's very common for drivers to do that on hills. The full size trucks would go to that staging area and chat with the mini drivers for a short time before heading out. Haha those Macks do tend to smoke quite a bit! Thanks bro!

  • @Amrepdude499
    @Amrepdude499 6 лет назад

    Cool trucks indeed. I like the Freightliner the most. The arm has a certain ring to it that brings me back. The Autocar by far has the best loading of the shuttle can, that was fast! Haha the full sizes take up the whole road that's awesome. Glad to finally see these in action.

    Awesome video! I was hoping to see this in action. Me and Lucas would go to the route and wait for hours not knowing the trucks didn’t service just Silverado Canyon, they also collect in a few other areas nearby. A lot of these areas look so familiar lol. It’s a really cool system, it’s like an insta bin truck with an Amrep hopper haha. I liked the last clip where the driver waves and then speeds away haha. I like how the shuttle arms are, it’s kinda like a rail arm in a way. Wish I could film this sometime.

    Great video! I agree, these are a really neat throwback to the POD system. What's the color code, and why do recycle carts have to be serviced by full size? I wonder how much trash they can pack into those tiny bodies haha

    • @DanielWDonuts
      @DanielWDonuts 6 лет назад +2

      Brian Spencer grey is recycle, blue is trash, green well you know

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you! Sure do miss the PODs! Blue lid is trash and gray is recycle. Recycle has to be brought to the main street because the participation rate is low and there isn't enough time or equipment to service the recycling separate. Most of it gets contaminated anyway. I saw many recycle carts full of green waste and branches unfortunately. They get about 25-30 carts into these.

    Nice video Aaron. I can’t believe the drivers prefer this over Laguna haha. I like the freightliner better because f all the Pete’s and Autocars taking over irvine and the surrounding areas. And by the way is the freightliner diesel?

    Awesome post bro! I especially admired the autocar shuttle amep. Sorta looks good with a newer chassis, I think it would look dope if it had a pete 520 chassis on it. The Mack was awesome! Loved how it came in with all the dust, sand and cng smoke lol. How many shuttle loads can that wittke fit? I seems like a little. Awesome post bro!

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  6 лет назад

      Thanks!! Yeah I agree with you on it looking good on a 520! Haha! I was thinking the same with the dust and CNG smoke all flying at me at once, was funny! I believe 4-6 trips fit in one FL. Thanks again!

    Fabulous video Aaron!! I loved every minute of it! The shuttles sort of remind me of the Wittke Burros that they use to run down south. Some places it seemed like there wasn't even a road and they were driving on peoples property. Can't believe how tight the area was! Do you know how many houses they service there?

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  6 лет назад

      Thank you Zach! Yeah definitely thought of the Burros too! Haha yeah some streets were actually dirt roads with planks set down on them, it was crazy. I'd estimate maybe 300-350 homes but I will look into that for you. Appreciate the comment and glad you liked the video!
