    Great video! Hopefully Marcus doesn’t get too pissy about you trespassing on his turf! I loved that packing around the 3 min mark as well as the cycle that followed.. total pre-Recycla Sun Valley vibes and a throw back to all of the great sounding MRs that used to run in our part of SoCal. I never realized how many Wittkes Blue Barrel had... and as shitty as they look appearance wise, in retrospect I totally would have made more trips out there to film them. Never know how much you’ll miss ‘em til they’re gone :(

      Haha! Surprised I didn't need to pay a fee to enter city limits onto his turf! 757 is a beast, they said that truck is really solid and hardly has any down time. Pretty crazy how little footage there is of the LNG MR Wittkes considering they were everywhere. Definitely feel that especially this day in age :/ Thanks for checkin out the video!!

    They really pack these trucks in this yard lol. Seems really tight compared to G.I. I actually really like these Wittkes. I’ve heard they made an outstanding body, packed good and were reliable. Nice to see they still have a few. That Amrep is suuper cool too! Really unique imo. What year is that body? Also really cool to see they still have AFE’s too! I have grown to really like those lately. Interesting to see all of those cabover rolloffs, glad they still order them too. Those pictures at the end were AWESOME! So cool to what they used to run! Awesome vid, Aaron.

      Haha it's like Tetris! They've grown so much that they needed to take over a parking lot next to the yard to fit everything in. Yeah Wittkes were great, wish/hope they'll consider rebodying a few. Body on that is a 2001 or 2002 I believe. Quite a neat collection of trucks over the years! Thanks as always!

    Damn this was total Nostalgia for me. Really enjoyed the footage you got when you went out here love seeing the yard with so many Mack’s unlike today. Crazy how fast the wittkes left, wish they kept them around a little while longer. Seeing 102177 really brought me back. Really loved seeing all the Le octos and 102479 didn’t realize how much LA paint was coming off of it! Really Great Video you came up here at the right time for sure! Just sad how much we’ve lost over the past few years, really makes me scared for 2020. Awesome Video Aaron!

      Haha yeah Blue Barrel's been a fun yard over the years and certainly is still relatively entertaining at this day in age. Wish the Wittkes were kept a little longer too. Same with the Amreps, think I'd rather see those LE Amreps running around instead of AFEs. Thanks!

    CDS works or worked there? also where does burrtec work because I know they run a few trucks up that way. never knew WM bought the old LABOS Mack ASLs so that's cool

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  4 года назад

      Yeah if I recall correctly, the city was split into 3 sections in the 90s. Blue Barrel, Santa Clarita Disposal, and Atlas each had a zone. The first 2 haulers became WM and Atlas became Consolidated so that's how the 2 ended up becoming the city's resi haulers until WM won the entire city around 04. Burrtec does the unincorporated portions of the city franchised through County of LA. Haha had no idea about the Mack either, was happy to get an up close look at it to confirm before it was scrapped. Thanks for checking out the video!

    Actually really surprised Blue Barrels Macks outlived ours. Course they are in a lot better shape for sure. Shame 507 was scrapped. By the end of its time around here it really wasn’t in good shape. Great video man!

      Yeah I'm pretty surprised too since AV is like the end of the line for most trucks. Thank you!

    Just because most of the original Blue Barrel fleet is gone doesn't mean this yard isn't full of awesome surprises. This video is the prime example of that. The Mack and Wittke Starlight combination are just so perfect, like peanut butter and jelly or carrots and peas. Add to that their engine sounds and you got yourself a really good looking and sounding garbage truck. I remember when those used to run from the Sun Valley yard, always liked them because they resembled my First Gear Replica. I wonder what happened to the Ex-WMX volvo Wittke's from L.A? I asked a driver and he mentioned they were sent up north but did not specify where.

      Agree, definitely enjoyed coming up here! Those Leaches were great and a nice throwback to the old Sun Valley days for sure. Ex WMX trucks were scrapped sadly. Thanks for checking out the video!

    Wow, what a great video WMmaster626! Blue Barrel sure had, and still has, an amazing fleet. I like how they were primarily Macks and there is no shortage of good sounding Macks there. I like the one of a kind trucks they had too like the ex LA Mackrep, Mack MR Octo and the ex H&C truck. Hopefully the MR Octo is still used in Palmdale. That is neat how all the LE AFE trucks ended up there. Those pictures at the end were amazing, I'm glad there was a true Western Waste truck and that parade pic at 12:00 with the old Mack and the Santa Clarita Disposal mascot was neat to see. Thank you for posting this video.

      Thank you!! Lot of cool trucks here! Luckily the MR Octo is still running up in Palmdale. Hopefully we can find it again! Thanks for checking out the video!

    I’m finally catching up on my subscriptions haha excellent video! It’s amazing to see all the older trucks that are, or were still there. The AFEs are some of my favorites, although I think they’re all pretty impressive. All the MR Wittke/Leach FLs sound really good, what year would those be? I can’t help but mention all the cool wraps either, I think my favorite was at 5:11. The trucks at 6:30 and 10:09 were super cool too, probably my absolute favorites! Overall a very cool video, lots of very neat stuff throughout!

      Thank you! Definitely glad this yard stayed this old school for as long as it did, definitely wish I came up here sooner though with the transfers they had for a while. The Wittkes are all 2003s and 2004s I believe. Also agree with you on the wraps, they stand out a lot more from the usual Think Green. Appreciate the comment!!

    Ahh makes me wish we still had 101507 it would have added variety to the yard. With all the new trucks coming in are a lot of the old ones like the Mack FL Wittkes gone or going to be gone soon? And is 209272 original to the yard, it was strange seeing it as a low entry unit. Awesome video!

    • @WMmaster626
      @WMmaster626  4 года назад

      Yeah would've been cool to see those in Fresno! Need to ask Mr. Maxey if he's got any pics of them when they were brand new! As of now, Blue Barrel has 3 Wittkes left, the rest were forced into retirement with the CARB credit program. 209272 was originally owned by H&C Disposal out of Hawthorne, CA and when they got their contract taken away, WM purchased 4 of their FELs. Thanks as always Zach!!!
