These were a staple at my house. We were six kids and not born in luxury but thank God and my parents who never let us go hungry. I still make these. They are yummy, easy (can cook the chicken yourself or use rotisserie chicken), it feeds an army. Thanks for this awesome throwback!
Here’s a tip 😚 when I boil the chicken for my taquitos. I use the caldo of the chicken for my fideo or estrellas instead of throwing it away it gives the caldo a good flavor 😋
My mom never taught me to cook, so I’m extremely grateful to you and to your family for sharing your knowledge. Every time I watch one of your videos I feel the love you put into your food and your instruction. 💖 Thank you!! Delicious 😋
I like seeing you and your husband together in the kitchen. BTW your kitchen is very nice. I love your videos because you make my two favorites, mexican and asian food! Keep those videos coming Mama!
When you cook like this you get so many more meals than if you just had rotisserie chicken! I love these kinds of recipes because they help me feed my family well on our tight budget. ❤️
I am 74 years old and I remember my mama making sopa after school with fresh homemade tortillas. It was a good and comforting meal. I made it for my children and they loved it. I still make it for my husband and me. My children still request it when they come to visit 😊
I am not Hispanic but married a guy from Mexico. As soon as I visited his family in Mexico and tried this soup I was hooked. The melon seed pasta was what I first tried. I can't believe I went my whole life without knowing what fideo soup was until I met him. I think moños are my favorite. Its so easy to make and so good too.
The brand Knorr started selling pre-seasoned “sopita” bags to make this even quicker! Taste just the same as homemade. Found them in the Mexican aisle at Walmart. :)
these taste so authentic, I’m embarrassed how much we eat them! I add in papas for my grandson, or chicken. some aguacate and cilantro, sour cream or queso*chef’s kiss * p.s like under a dollar!
This is literally my childhood comfort food and remains one of my favorites. Sometimes I sub the chicken for aguacates, or add more veggies to the sopa.
I moved from California to Norway 38 years ago. I started missing the food right away (torskerogn og speilegg er ikke det samme). Not that my mother in law wasn't a great cook. But I used to pig out on mexican food every time we went back to the states. My wife isn't interested in food, but I've grown an interest in my old age- And tortillas, chilis and celantro have finally made it to Norway. The guy who has the freshest produce is turkish. Real pleasant guy. He even has salsa verde I remember the fridge section back home with fresh pico de gallo and the racks with warm tortillas. We're not there yet here, but I think it's coming.
Just from the thumbnail, those flautas....omg. They look amazing. Perfectly crunchy. I need to make flautas soon. I like to put little pieces of roasted poblano peppers in them. I need to try that paste trick. Sometimes mine open while frying and it makes a huge mess. Flautas is what I usually get from the Mexican restaurants, and I usually order two extra as only three just simply isn't enough.
I always bake my taquitos just like this. They turn out great. I like to mix cheese with the chicken. This combo reminds me of the Sinaloan style tacos ahogados.
I love baked taquitos! You can make a whole bunch of them and pop them into the oven for just a few minutes, grate some Monterey Jack or some Cotija and sprinkle it over the taquitos... So fantastic!
I remember one video last year and you saying you didn’t know what else to do or what to make. Girl you have got it going on, there’s no stopping you! I love the way you take your time and do it well, don’t care for people trying to rush through the recipe like Gordon Ramsey does. I don’t like his frantic pace of cooking, it’s intimidating for a lot of people wanting to learn, Bobby Fla does the same. We all know they can cook, but you do it right! After all I remember how good our house would smell, my mom cooking cooking up a storm. I miss those days but the sound of your kids in the background and your husband helping at times is wonderful. After all it’s “Cooking with a mama’s love “! Love you guys, have a merry Christmas and god bless you and your family 🥰🤙😀
I grew up eating sopitas as a child so when I had my own children I made that dish often for them. They loved it. However I never thought to pair sopa with flautas! Now I have to try this. Thanks for that idea. I really love your cooking shows. You make everything so simple and uncomplicated. Thank you! By the way, I love your book. I just bought it and look forward to start trying all your recipes.
O mama, never 🤔 thought to use cornstarch glue! Thank you 💞 also with sopitas the bomb. ps: always wondered why you toast the pasta(bloating) I just did it.Your explanation sure I lighten me.Bless you,and fam.
I love the Star sopita, my mom used to make it for us when We were a kid..☺️ I like to add cilantro while cooking & cheese when I serve, try it you’ll like it.. 😋
I love that you are teaching us some of the traditions you grew up with! Thank You for these delicious and comforting recipes. It is cool to see you and husband working together too!! 🏆👍🕺👩
My gma used to make it with tiny shells and she would make them SUPER toasty, the tomato sauce and a sprinkle of fresh sharp cheddar. So good. Miss her.
The stars reminds me of the Campbell's Chicken and Stars soup. Which I eat whenever I'm sick and want nothing else. My son loved Taquitos whenever he came home from school.
Hi A.!!! This recipe sure does look mighty tasty. Never saw them tiny stars before. I will have to give this a try. Nice seeing your handsome hubby...Great video my friend!!!

This is what I grew up on. I wish my kids loved sopa as much as I do.
Here’s a tip 😚 when I boil the chicken for my taquitos. I use the caldo of the chicken for my fideo or estrellas instead of throwing it away it gives the caldo a good flavor 😋
me tooooooo! :) sometimes I even use the bone, I'll throw it in the soup, Mexican rice, or Fideo. gives so much flavor.

Never thought of that as a combo. Looks delish. I think sopa is that one simple dish that blows away all my non Hispanic friends.

You introduced me to El Pato tomato sauce. Now most of the time when I go to Walmart I get a can. I used it in my sopa. It was delicious!
