I'm rocking the a7c ii, but when it comes to your "Categorising Sony's Cameras" part I feel like you could place the a6700 in every category of shooters. It's amazing enough for Photos, hybrid and Videos, at such an attractive price point. Seriously, I have never seen a camera that is as balanced out and more ideal than the a6700. Yes, it's an Apsc camera, but it comes so so very close to what full frame camera produces and for social media, it's more than enough. I feel like this is the greatest camera Sony has ever produced, the absolute best. It's just a perfect camera. If only it came in the a7c silver colour 😭
@@jcanracer just know that you did... There's virtually no difference besides the slight full-frame difference, which to LR and PS gods out there is not even noticeable... I love the a7c ii, don't get me wrong but it affects quality of life quite a bit in my case... I had to invest so much more that I have to restrict spendings elsewhere, some of them where it actually matters... I bought the a7c ii coz of a want, and not a need... I'd even go so far as saying the a6700 would still be too much of a camera for me... The a6700 is the pound for pound king...
I feel like this video touches on the issue of portability as your final deciding point, but then says: buy what you can afford. I bought the ZV-E1 because I carry my camera and do run and gun. I could have bought and wanted to buy the FX3, (durability, mounting points, more dials), but opted for the lighter weight and portability. I actually left canon because they just didn’t have enough high quality lenses that were light weight in their RF lineup. I think there is a consumer that wants high-end small lightweight gear without losing image quality. Maybe not enough of us….
The A9III would be the one for me in terms of video. The only reason is no rolling shutter. Shooting music videos and events there's a lot of times where that'd be the main issue I need to mitigate.
I have a A7R5 with a Tamron 20-40mm - my work is almost 100% vertical social media. The sensor and lens mean I pretty much have a 20-60 set up which so far has been all I've needed. I moved from Nikon to Sony and was retisant because I thought the colour was going to be an issue, but I've loved the image from the A7R5. The auto iso and wb work so well I rarely have manual on. Plus the AF rarely misses
I hate when I ramble that long and then have to cut so much….i just got the prompter and these style videos hoping to plan out more to cut editing and time of videos….we shall see! Great breakdown….so many to choose from! I love my a7c! Always tempted to upgrade but honestly it’s still good enough! For everything else a7siii and now ZV-E10II
Great video! I get like a 1/4 of it, but got the idea. I like this technical videos, cause we see all ur full knowledge and experience. I also like the explanatory ones, for more average joe like myself 🙏
The A7Cii is probably what i want next, however the a6700 is a solid hybrid option that has simialr features just in APSC land, whoch coming from a ZV-E10 owner isnt bad cause same lenses. Also after having been on each briefing, the ZV line should be at the start of each list, price aside. The line is meant to make creating easier so thats why its feature set and menus are the way they are! Going to proper "alpha" models is when you start to take the profession serious is what it seems with Sony!
I just scored a Sony ZV-E1 from best buy for $1190 because it was “open box” (mint condition minus a USB-C Cable) I bought the Viltrox 20mm white lens to match and for under $1400 I have a full frame vlogging camera :)
I have old Sony cameras, still awesome. A7RII, A7III, Sony RX100 V. A7RII is still so awesome. I use it for a birding and landscape photography. Paid $1199 for it. What a deal.
Excellent as usual!!! A6700... I want the smaller lens's and lighter overall weight, and from my point of view full frame is not enough better image quality for my use case... Great video!
LOL, "I recorded for 35 mins" ... yeah, sounds about like one of my talking head video recordings! As for cameras, I just bought a Canon R6 II. Love it. I was looking at the Sony A7IV, but dang, Sony won't put autogain on the mic. That's a huge thing for me - I hate having to adjust mic levels depending on which mic I'm using - I want the camera to figure it out - it makes setup way easier and faster for me. Great breakdown on the cameras, though! I definitely fall into the Hybrid category. I love taking pics, but I vlog off-bike and want better-than-action-cam level quality.
Love the breakdown unfortunately Im in stuck in the middle....I am a professional sports photographer using the A1 all the time but no flip screen crushes me for vlog style content so I also have to carry the zve1 for that. Ive owned the a7cr and loved it just wish the vid specs where a little better. Looking forward to the event in NYC in a couple weeks and hopefully putting my hands on the one body to rule my camera bag!!
10:00 Kinda surprised you put the A7C-R where you did. You're skipping the A7IV/A7C-II sensor entirely. The A7C-R also has another caveat: same low resolution EVF and rear screen as the A6700. EDIT: yes, I see you added the A7C-II to the Hybrid list, so I guess that's fine lol Anyways, continuing to be a loyal subscriber since 2019, cheers!
"Boy is it a pain in the ass!" Although I have an Fx6 and Fx30; my choice soup to nuts is my a7siii. Superb EVF, lowlight and inconspicuous is value beyond the trend of flip out screens and adding $1000's of gak to shot the Fx series... I agree with you Dave!
What??? No Alpha 1??? I love my a1 man it's the hybrid KING!!!! Also, not that it really matters but the a7SIII is now $3198, and the FX3 is $3698 now.
Thanks David... Wow! Motion Array is.. as you say .. so dope! That just blew me away... Not shopping for a new camera, but you're explanations about the differences was very helpful. Happy Halloween 👻🎃. PS was in a store and saw a "Be a good human" sticker and it wasn't yours.. it's catching on...
Im currently looking for a new camera, and your video sparked an interest in the A7 Cii. After doing a bit of research, I was wondering what your thoughts are on the screen resolution and using long zoom lenses on the camera.
I have the camera and you could do anything with it what you could do the a7iii or iv... Screen is decent enough for me that I don't complain about it ever... Get the smallrig baseplate and the grip becomes a little better if your hands are big, not entirely necessary if hands are small, but it does adds a bit to the already retro vibe... I'm rocking the sigma 50mm f2 contemporary on it, with one zoom lens on the side with a small wide angle lens in the bag... All you'll ever need...
@prof_jesus I like to have only 2 lenses, 1 for landscape/astrology and another with a good zoom up to 400mm. But I'm thinking the camera would struggle with the 400mm?
I was waiting this video a lot of months! I am Nikon user (Nikonz6ii + Z lenses) and I was thinking switching to Sony. Based on my needs and the survey I did I am between a7V and a7CR.. comparing with my existing system, I need a more compact camera (like a7CR) but I don't know if the resolution of the sony's tilt screen and viewfinder will be so much lower than z6ii.. i would appreciate your feedback based on your sony experience ;)
@DavidManningvlog The AF rarely misses. I chose it over the A7rv because I shoot with on-camera flash, and the absence of a center hump for EVF puts the flash closer to lens center, for smaller shadows.
I would look to jump into the a6700 or A7CR, depending on your budget. They're both killer cameras, but I will say that the A7CR blew me away in the couple weeks I had a loaner unit. That thing is incredible!
@ the a6700 is more in my budget. If I wanted to shoot pro portraits with it, could it handle it? And what Sony prime lens would equal my go to focal length of 85mm? I use the 56 on Fuji but does Sony even make such a thing?
@ thank you! Budget wise, I’d definitely be more in the range of the A6700. Is the EVF usable? I wear glasses and shoot a lot on sunny days so so I rarely compose on the LCD. I like a viewfinder. Is the A6700 viewfinder pretty good?
When the a1ii comes out im buying a new a1i Unless the a7siv has the new chip that will follow you like the zve1. My guess is the a1 will drop to 3500 dollars new when the a1ii comes out

Got a a7siii with a bunch of accessories and stuff for 2.4k! Excited for it to arrive

I got the a7iv and the a7c but my most used one is the a6600. I love the small amazing fast crop lenses
I'd put the a6700 in the Hybrid catagory with its 4k at 120 fps and AI subject recognition.
I believe the A6700 fits in all 3 of these categories. But specifically, I believe that there is no better hybrid APSC camera than the A6700.
Great video! I get like a 1/4 of it, but got the idea. I like this technical videos, cause we see all ur full knowledge and experience. I also like the explanatory ones, for more average joe like myself 🙏
I’m buying the Sony a6700 soon! Upgrading from a Canon eos 250D!
That’s going to be a massive jump! You’re going to love the autofocus on that thing🙌

The A7Rii was the camera that got me to switch to Sony in 2015. I still have two of them, but they've been abused and so beat up🤣
@@DavidManningvlog Yep. As long as you don't need lighting fast AF it's still my favorite camera.
Great job on the video David! Thanks for making it.

Now just need sony to make some new photo-centric lenses for the a6700!

A7C11
