A RUclips buddy of mine recommended these but ... he wears them inside out. Meaning the mic is inside his shirt and the magnet on the outside. His shirt thus acts as the wind break and it sounds great. And no giant dead cat showing!
I have the DJI Mic 1, the DJI Mic 2 that came with the Pocket 3 creator combo, and the Lark. My go-to is always the Lark. Not just the size, I prefer the sound as well.
I nabbed the DJI Mic 2 when I got my Pocket3 and really love them. No receiver needed, good quality but my shirts are taking a hit & tricky to hide, created my own necklace but still obvious. Would love an in depth audio comparison see if it’s worth ditching & adding a receiver. Great vid!
I've switched to using these as my main mic. They're great! I even go as far when I'm using my DJI Pocket 3 even though it has the wireless microphone built in, I plug this in and use it instead. The main way I use it is with the necklace attachment, but I attach the microphone to it underneath my shirt.
I bought a set in January when they came out. The sound quality is amazing.. when they work. My set lasted about 5 months before it totally crapped out. The receiver won't connect anymore. Hollylands customer service is atrocious too. I tried some other more expensive mics and quickly realized the Lark M2s are superior in about every way. So I bought a second set.
It would be so cool if the windshield was only attached to the top and when you had the smiley dace on it would look like hair on the top of the head. 😂😂😂
fantastic - this might be helpful for me indoors - noisy neighbours 18 hours a day is a thing - totally rude! another epic video my friend - the range tests always amaze me, the only people i see using mics far away from camera is like, news readers! and tv documentary people, who i have seen using various rode and similar wireless systems increasingly the past few years.
@@DavidManningvlog us normal creators should not be that far away from our gear - i am like you, i'd be too worried my camera would get pinched, i'm with you hehehe
I use this and happy with it, especially neckless magnet system. Cons, ●There is no internal recording. ●Indicator charging case only for battrey remaiming not showing trasmiter and reciver battrey. ●RECIVER FOR camera all plastic not magnetic ●build quilty is not that special. The rest is great
Lol crazy on the distance test, all I can think of is when u have ur camera safe, and put it on...like a theater play, a simposium, something like that. They do sound very good actually
Incredible size, and it does sound good for a RUclips video! How ever - would you use it in your studio instead of the mic you usually use? Also, the very low volume on the background music made me look for other tabs in my browser that I thought might be the source of the music when I was trying to listen to your audio samples in the beginning.
It would work really well in a studio setup that's echoey, but I still prefer the vibe of a shotgun boomed overhead. The main difference though is the feeling of coming close to and away from the camera. It feels more natural than what a lav sounds like. If you and I were sitting in a room together and I walked away from you, it would get quieter. Then when I came back near you, it would get loud again. You get that same feeling with a boom mic on camera, but with a lav the audio sounds exactly the same level no matter where I go. For sure a preference choice!
The boom should always be your priority mic and the main mic you use, the Lav is a backup or another option if the sound fits the situation better. Out in the field is the same thing, unless on run and gun shooting. Long story short. If you are recording with a Boom mic then 99% of the time you should be using that mic.
I’m not for sure. There have been cases I’ve tried to use similar wireless mics for say Zoom calls or Teams chats I had issues. I think a lady who does yoga online figured out a way but it did not work for me. However, buying a dongle like splitter that allows audio out to go somewhere else like a speaker would I believe
I love mine, better than my Rode and picomics. I wear them inside out and don’t need a wind muff. Also with only the magnet showing they are super tiny.
Your videos are always entertaining! Question, can you get the Lark M2 to work with the Insta360 X4? Also if so how? Congratulations on the new blades too! 😊
Very nice. I'll have to pick on up for work. I'm glad you can also get it in white. The stickers are great but it's nice for someone with light clothing. Do these pair with the receiver? Wondering if you could pair a black and white to a receiver.
I was just about to pull the trigger on the DJI Mic 2 when this video popped up. Would it work with a GoPro? Would it work inside of a motorcycle helmet do you think?
That's pretty neat but in all honesty, I rather just use a lav mic with the receiver in my pocket. Much smaller and less noticeable. But I suppose this mic would have it's advantages in specific scenarios, not quite sure what those would be, but we'll give it the benefit of the doubt 🙂 Either way, great review even with the mix up on the noise cancelation on and off which brings up a quick question about that. Are there different levels of noise cancellation or is either on or off?
I could tell the difference in noise cancellation and non noise cancellation. Would you recommend this over the DJI 1 or 2? I have the DJI Mic 1 and been impressed with it. However, can’t beat the size of that and of course…MAGNETS! Gotta love those magnets. I feel bad for anyone with a pacemaker though. I wonder if these magnet products can stick to your skin if you have any metal plates under you? Might be a dumb question but I just asked it, lol.
LOVE those magnets and these might be the most clever mounting options out there! I was watching an MKBHD car video and he's wearing his on the necklace, but under his shirt and getting some really solid audio!
Does the receiver for the Hollyland Lark work by plugging it into either the Insta360 x4 or the DJI pocket 3? The small size of the transmitter is awesome.
If you put the magnet on the outside of your shirt and the mic on the inside of your shirt will that reduce the wind noise without having to use the giant dead cat?
I want to try these mics out but the humongous deadcat is a deal breaker for me. That thing is just too big for such a tiny mic. Are you able to try and put the mic into your shirt with the magnet outside to see how that sounds? Thanks!
All those wireless mics sound bad.For me sound is important as video.I use wired lavaliere that comes with Zoom F2 and it sounds way better than any wireless. Most of the people with choose convenience rather than quality.
I love it for phone recording, and it is at a pretty decent price point. However, this is an issue with me and not the mic, but I'm also using a Sony a6000 camera, and that does not have audio, so I need a mic that connects through the hotshoe.

That sounds quality is pretty insane. It’s just what I need. Great vid.
Don't do this if you're wearing an undershirt. You'll hear a lot of scratching.
I do this, plus you can easily cover the back magnet with black stickers/ screw covers at your hardware store

Hi Dave 🙋♂, Good to see you review this, I had suggested you to compare this with DJI mic back in April, lol 😄
Intro is fire 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you brother🙌

This does solve most noisy situations pretty easily! I'm still blown away by the range tests. Who is that far from their camera?! Hahhaa

Impressed by the noise cancellation from such a small device compared to some other brands.

Cool mic, but as a hockey guy, I'd like details on the new wheels!! 😂
Wondering who’s going to use that 1,000ft range!?….. motorcycle riders 😎 🤙

I am surprised: you can split the Lark microphones to individual channels in the Blackmagic app?
That mic reminds me of the Insta360 go with the magnets
Excellent product. Tiny. Awesome
It's pretty wild what they were able to pack into a mic this small!
Im thinking about getting them, and I've been watching a lot of videos about them, but then, maybe I need to wait for #3?
I was just about to pull the trigger on the DJI Mic 2 when this video popped up. Would it work with a GoPro? Would it work inside of a motorcycle helmet do you think?
I love to know this, as well. Although, I'd be curious about using it with an Insta360.
Nevermind! I figured it out that the Bluetooth audio option was introduced with the Hero 12. I have a Hero 11… so it won’t work

Great vid mate!👌 Do you know if this will work with the insta360 X4 camera?
That range and size could have some good applications for spy work or private investigation.
What phone case is that? Looks great!
Does the receiver for the Hollyland Lark work by plugging it into either the Insta360 x4 or the DJI pocket 3?
The small size of the transmitter is awesome.
The X4 needs the audio adapter to hook in any outside mic, but yes this receiver plugs right into the audio adapter!
If you put the magnet on the outside of your shirt and the mic on the inside of your shirt will that reduce the wind noise without having to use the giant dead cat?

Was the audio during 11:38 when you say “hang on” and at 11:42 choppy because you were facing away from the camera and far away? Thanks!
Will this work with DJI Action 4?
Hi, how far(distance) can the mic detect the person speaking? if i place the mic on table?
The receiver should have a small mic built in and connect directly to Sony's digital hotshoe.
how we know the noise reduction is on and off in the mic?
There's an LED light on the mic that's green when noise reduction is ON and blue when noise reduction is OFF
Kinda curious, but would it work if you put this mic on your snap back cap 🤔 this is neat for its size!
low tones comes from your voice not the mic, if your voice is not deep, there will be less low sound regardless of mic position - fact
Please use a helmet while skating. Small rock or surface cracks could take you out quick.
