I wish Luis had wheeled the Sword of the Meek to go with Thopter Foundry just to see him “look, here’s the thing” his way into playing Tolarian Academy.
Sometimes, calling the other player an opponent doesn't make sense. They are more a witness to your dominance and then a sacrifice.
The black control experience - discard everything in opponent’s hand, then watch them top deck perfectly the rest of the game
The fact that the only real downside to discard is that they need to draw perfects and you know it when they do is what makes discard OP and terribly balanced. It's not like drawing perfects isn't an out to everything else anyway. Targeted discard literally made me quit magic because it's so miserable to play against
@@BetaJim22The downside is that hand disruption spells are terrible in a top deck war. You can empty their hand, but then the rest of your discard effects are dead draws.
Yep, and 10 years ago that was a real cost since top deck wars were common. Now it's pretty rare for players to be hellbent since every color has absurd card advantage engines. @@Heuxjbeish
That R1 G1 was nuts, he discarded 10 cards
Beat the brakes off them. 🤣
I thought this was a joke
The definition of "stop, he's already dead"
i liked the attempted out in R2 G3 where you needed your opponent's deck to have good cards, which it did, and you needed your deck to have bad cards, which it did. good tactic for playing against power
28:53 “Wow oracle of Mul Daya is busted”
Oh how the turn tables, oracle is confirmed good again
He even had warm words for inquisition, seems like we accidentally watched a LSV draft from a weird parallel universe.
Till the next draft then it's mid again.
When you get it for the low low price of BB it’s pretty great
Jesus christ, revealing Emmy off of shinobi hit is the biggest beat I've ever seen
and black lotus!
Came here for this comment. I mean, lotus emrakul is the overkill dream
JEEZ this was a pleasure to watch. Wholesome Fallen Shinobi hit 2nd Game was hilarious.
Every discard spell, eh? You passed that collective brutality though! :p
Also inquisition.
And inquisition! The title sits on a throne of lies! XD
There should be an explicit content warning for match 1 game 1, holy moly that was savage
Jesus, and then Shinobi hitting Black Lotus + Emrakul, this is an all-timer
@LSV - just wanted to say thanks for uploading daily cube draft videos. I watch them during my lunch and it's so fun to hear the background. I've been playing magic since forever and have outgrown my local community so it's great to learn new tips and tricks from someone more seasoned. I especially enjoy how you talk about tiers of cards which helps me understand your frame of reference. I'd love for you to talk about 3 additional points more often (if possible):
1. Win conditions - often times I see a deck and I think to myself "looks good but how do we win?"
2. Decking - often decking comes into play, would be curious on how that impacts your decisions
3. Additional cube archetypes - As you mentioned you are updating this cube, would love to hear you theory craft how certain cards would work. Cards that are good in specific situations, such as Ruin Crab, Quicksilver Amulet, The Great Henge etc
I love those meta-game insights on cubes. It's stuff I as a casual would never think about what my neighbors think what color I'm drafting and how that can benefit me. Insane insights.
Its important to note that it matters far more in team draft than it does in a normal pod draft and doesnt matter at all in league draft. In fact, it might even been detrimental in non-team draft because the people around you think black is open and cut you
I would love to know if the other players think the way he thinks they think.
@@persoonpersoon agreed and just to expand on why, it's because team draft is zero-sum between the two teams so making their decks worse at a cost to yourself is good as long as it hurts them more, while a normal draft you can have positive-sum interactions with your neighbors that leave you both better off relative to the rest of the table. If me and my neighbor hate draft, and across the table you and your neighbor get out of eachother's ways, you'll both beat us both in expectation
Fallen Shinobi hitting Emrakul and Black Lotus is just straight unethical.
"I LOVE inquisition-"
No you don't
Timetwister into opponent makes you discard ALL of your playable cards has to be one of the most brutal lines I've seen
Like, I've seen plenty of timetwister into opponent is a better combo deck who goes off immediately, but I've never seen a timetwister so *directly* countered before
It was even better than that because it was make opponent discard their entire hand -> opponent top decks Timetwister which was the perfect out to having discarded their entire hand -> proceed to immediately make them discard their entire hand again.
Shinobi into Emrakul, literally laughed out loud
LSV with ancestral in his deck: never gets cast.
LSV’s opponents with ancestral in thier deck: top decks at the perfect time every game.
Incredible deck! Paul’s draft was really cool too; he’s one of the most positive and tenacious and players out there!
Having not seen the games yet, I would pay so much money to see the look on opponent's face when LSV goes turn one dark ritual thoughtseize sinkhole.
After seeing it struggle so much recently, seeing Oracle pop off as a stolen card in our Dimir deck was something else. Awesome!
R1 G1 has gotta be the saddest timetwister I've ever seen. Bro really said "okay fine, discard them all again"
FALLEN SHINOBI INTO EMRAKUL *AND* BLACK LOTUS!?!?! EXCUSE ME!?!?!?!?!
"I took every discard card"
- skips Liliana
- skips Inquisition
😛 Great stuff as always!
Yeah, this really illustrates why I enjoy legacy cube more than vintage. To me, one of the big appeals of cube is that it eliminates the whole "I opened a bomb rare and now I win" aspect of drafting most formats. Putting power into the cube just adds that factor back in.
That first game was the most dominating performance I've ever seen from a deck without power that wasn't just something boring like a turn 1 channel Emrakul kill, I think.
Sweet Krishna, that first game was absolutely vicious :D
Really happy that Jesse has joined the server. She's really awesome and a fantastic player.
Jesse as in tiddypills because I will lose my mind 😊
good enough to beat lsv!
@@starmanda88 I'm not quite sure I understand your reply?
This is by far my favorite style of deck in vintage cube, so excited to see how it plays out
That first game was crazy. Just ripping his hand apart. So cool to see
Your opponents having better decks just makes your cards that play off their deck better... that's some next level drafting.
it's evening here in Switzerland. on my way home now. what a good thing to watch
« What we got what we got ? » Emrakul 😂😂😂😂
Best part of the video hahaha
The power level of these decks is absolutely hilarious
would always like to know the team result. if you can't include it in the video, perhaps include it in the description or link to somewhere that it's posted. it'd be cool if there was a page somewhere that kept track of these results publicly
As someone who was pretty surprised he didn’t take Lily over Daze. It was nice to Daze do nothing and Liliana completely trounce him in a game. Vindicated!
I think daze was the better pick for a deck that already had 30 discard cards and ways of killing creatures
Would you consider doing some kind of stipulation drafts? I know that you can't really decide ahead of time what you're gonna build, but maybe there could be a list and you could do them when the opportunity arises?
He's said before that he won't to stipulations for team drafts.
what do yall think, whats more frustrating, getting your hand ripped apart by thoughtseize and duress, or making your opponent discard and then watching them topdeck the perfect card 2 seconds later? I actually think its the latter, very few things piss me off more in magic than knowing they just topdecked the perfect play
Those first games were BRUTAL
i love it!
You are a monster. And I am here for it.
That Fallen Shinobi -> Emrakul turn got me insta like button the video :D
Hey LSV, do you think sealed fate could be a good card for the dimir control deck in cube?
Still at the tail end of draft phase. HOW DID MISTY WHEEL?!?!?
That first match was a beating!
Even when not set up for it, LSV still takes Tolarian Academy.
14:53 The title is a lie: You passed Inquisition of Kozilek. 😂
Came to make this comment haha
That game one was absolutely hilarious
I feel scammed by the title, LSV passes an Inquisition at 13:37
I think that first game was in violation of several sections of the Geneva Convention.
Shinobi-ing an emrakul is peak cube
Fascinating path and really fun deck construction!
Hitting Emrakul off fallen shinobi is such a beating, and well the first round was just a massacre 😂😂😂
I don’t think I’ve ever seen LSV pass a shelldock
hahahah omg hitting that emrekul, beautiful
Thank you for giving us the best videos always on time!
M1G1 was pure dominance.
"Took every discard spell" but passed the Collective Brutality? I want my money back
great basic land choice!
İs white plume adventurer not in your cube?
Petition to call UB control decks "Blue Black Nassifs"
i BROKE when shinobi flipped Emmy Lotus 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is my kinda deck. Truly beautiful ❤️
that fallen shinobi was so much fun
R1 wouldve felt ten times better if R2 wasn't the most annoying thing in the world lmao
This should make the 2024 best tolarian academy decks
most players: blue counter opponents are the worst
LSV: ever tried discrad? Hold my limo!
Just watched cheon's perspective on this draft, now get to see yours too.
Thanks for all the content!!!
44:05 Even without knowing mana screw was impending why not just dt for swamp here? Would still get to duress the same turn and then guarantees hymn the next turn
Would it be an interesting feature to have a draft mode with a “cough” button? Each drafter gets one cough to use when they want, and it’s up to teams to figure out how they want to use that feature. In the chat “LSV coughed on pack 1 pick 5”
shinobi into emrakul black lotus is so sweet
Some good fair magic today!
Oh yeah i forgot Shinobi into Emrakul off the top was a thing that can happen xD damn
Was sad to see that Scrubland late pack 1 go by. Seemed worth considering with the 3feri in the pile
Brutal. What a rollercoaster
i took every discard spell in the vintage cube *passes inquisition* LIES lmao ggs
You passed IoK, Brutality, and Liliana...WHAT OTHER LIES HAVE YOU TOLD US HUH!?!
34:10 TIL Concealing Curtains is an 0/4
R1 G1 all I hear in my head is STOP HE IS ALREADY DEAD!!!
that first game was the definition of oppression....
Second draft in a row where he passed flash and it would've been the nuts
What a delightful title
41:04 lmao
Love this deck
"I took every discard spell"
Doesn't take K command or Collective Brutality 😂😂😂
ragavan seems better than shinobi these days. except when we cast 0 mana emrakul
LSV certainly wouldn't disagree that ragavan is better than shinobi, I don't even think it's close... but yeah shinobi has a much higher ceiling!
I'd love to see a modern horizons 3 buffed version of oracle of mul daya
I did love the deck.
yes thief gets taken finally gotter be my fav card
Collective Brutality passed, the clickbait 😢😂
Has LSV ever passed up a Shelldock?
Hey, LSV and LSV fans. If you were b/r midrange good cards, what would you pick p2p1? Ragavan or Orcish Bowmasters? I took Ragavan, but I was not sure. Ragavan was amazing for me, though, so I wasn't unhappy.
He would snap up bowmasters in case a draw 7 rolled around.
I would guess bowmasters, as it's more flexible than ragavan in terms of what decks it can go into, where ragavan is at its best in decks that can clear the way for it and tends to skew more aggressive.
Yeah, I almost always opt for orcs here. It does so much even when it isn't being abused, and ragavan often gets bricked, even if it wins games on its own sometimes
It's orcish bowmasters 10 out of 10 times unless you already for some reason passed a wheel of fortune in pack 1 and then it's still orcish bowmasters 9 out of 10 times
orc is so much better than ragavan
Petition to remove currency converter and retrofitter foundry from vintage cube. They're so good in such an uninteresting way.
Mirage basics yesss
awrsome draft
my kinda draft!
Shalom! ❤
to be facing vs extremely lucky opponent who drafter MOX, ANCESTRAL and BLACK LOTUS. I ask how? Very tilting.
Losing to topdecks: the video
He does this to his "friends"?
False? Didn't take inquisition or lili... :)
getting shellshock from hearing LSV say "sadge" out loud, twitch zoomer culture needs to be stopped haha
