Wonder what the alloy is? (Written while the mold is being filled with sand.) Later: it’s some seriously fumy stuff, so it has *plenty* of illness-inducing zinc in it, cough!
Would it not be easier to just pour it into a pipe and cut it into lengths needed as I’m sure these all have to be machined anyway, or create an extruder
Yes making these bushings first as a pipe and then cutting it would work. But that adds cost for the band-saw and blades plus another person to do the cutting. By molding all the costs are for the people who build the sand molding and the casters. Of course these parts still need to be turned to proper outside diameter and then honed or turned for proper inside diameter. No casting can be poured exactly to needed inside/outside diameters. Extruders are very expensive equipment for that part of the world.
Из видео непонятны их цели и задачи. Из кучи разнообразных железяк, они героически отлили однотипные втулки. Очень круто, но совершенно не понятно. Нахрена им столько втулок...

Hideki is impressed with the wonderful casting technology.

This isn't "wow amazing work". This is one step above caveman work.
Then learn and upgrade. Can’t stay in those caves forever bud!

Continuous pipe extrusion requires machinery. This does not.
