I met Dan Mick and his son Richard at the Off-Road expo here in Utah a couple years ago and they were great to hang around with. Their wealth of knowledge in off roading in Moab is just mind blowing. I know they have done many, many tours there over their lifetime, but they know their stuff. I can't wait until I can meet up with them and go off roading with them . Found your channel following Mischief Maker and a few others! Good idea on the bolts from Cat. I've used them in several applications where a 1-1/16th" grade 5 will shear, and a "Fastenal" grade 8 anodized will twist, but the Cat grade 8 isn't damaged. I assume if the Cat bolts do break, it will be spectacular as metal explodes. Like the fact that you are in your small shop, not the million-dollar building with all the latest and greatest tools.

I've seen many many cherokees with rusted out floors and zero rust elsewhere. There's many leak spots on an xj where rain can get in and the factory seam sealer isn't very good. Even on a completely rust free cherokee, in fact every single cherokee I've done I have always found rust under the seam sealer. The weird thing is that it seems like the factory seam sealer holds moisture it feels wet and smells musty when you remove it with a heavy wire wheel and various other methods. Combine all the possible leaking points and failing seam sealer with the carpet insulation that never dries its a perfect recipe for rust.
I had a cherokee sit indoors for well over a year in a heated environment and many stupid hot summer days and when I pulled the carpet the insulation was absolutely soaking wet I was amazed after that much time just how drenched it was. The carpet insulation probably couldn't even hold much more water than that there was zero evaporation.
Taking the time to strip and redo the seam sealer and stitch weld the chassis and everything else takes months to get it to the point where you can actually start the build but with modern 3m 2 part seam sealer, new weatherstripping and dynamat then waterproof insulation on top of that then new carpet with the regular insulation removed makes for a wonderful driving experience. That combined with frame stiffeners a cage and everything else completely transforms the vehicles characteristics but that's a little ridiculous for most people I'm just ranting at this point haha. I really like a nice interior.

The black Caterpillar bolts you have in your hand there are the phosphate oil coated bolts they carry. They call them grade 8 in their One Safe Source Parts Book but they do state that they are designed to be stronger than grade 8. They also have a taller head on them which makes sockets grip on them so much better

So during this episode you were commenting about people that paint there frames and didnt care for it and thats ok to each to each. Then at the end of the video you were wearing green framed sun glasses & i thought is this a rub on the frame painters 🤔🤣🤣🤣. The jeeps looking great and good luck with the floor pan repairs. 👍👍

I did the WJ swap on my 2000 XJ, I went with the Barnes crossover 1 ton GM offset TRE's with no tubing, and then I went down to my local steel supplier and got 78" of 1.5 x 0.250 wall DOM when I welded my tube inserts, I had the inserts threaded all down on the TRE's. Of course, only the left hand threaded are the ones I have an issue with, but it's absolutely imposible to adjust the left hand threaded TRE'S by hand. Even my big ass 27mm spanner was barely enough to spin the drag link and tie rod and being 6'5 and 175lbs I'm a skinny dude and I can literally hang on the end of a 27mm spanner and the bars won't turn. I had to sacrifice a 12" Crescent wrench and welded a 30" piece of 5/8 bar stock steel to the handle of the Crescent wrench just to make steering adjustments. Also my D30 with WJ knuckles and crossover steering LOVES to DW if I set it toe in on 37's. I gotta run toe out if I don't wanna dance with the Reaper driving any speed over 17mph.

I disagree with your comments about overheating. 🤨 I have never had problems with Jeeps overheating and I have driven 100s of them. Make sure that you have all your shrouds and baffles in place in order to force as much frontal air flow as possible through the radiator fins. Lots of people make the mistake of putting electric fans on without having a 100% shroud.
