    How do you know the air flow is down? What if the old filter was put in wrong?
    You did it right of course but my point is that some people do get it wrong. And your new filter doesn't say "air flow" next to the arrow. But... All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow direction otherwise the blower would be full of dirt and debris that normally collects on the top of the old filter. So the ONLY time an arrow on a cabin filter should point up is when it says up next to the arrow in which case it's not indicating air flow. It simply means "this side up". You will see up indicators on Toyota, Subaru & Range Rover OEM filters and on some aftermarket filters for those same vehicles. Cabin filters made in India for those vehicles will have both air flow arrows and up arrows pointing in opposite directions of course.

      Thank you for your informative comment! I had not really consider it when installing it. I had always just made note of the arrows direction and kept it the same with the replacement filter.
