    Flying Scotsman
    Captured between 2016 and 2019 on the main line (Settle Carlisle, Shap, North Wales Coast), Crewe Heritage Centre, East Lancs Railway & North Yorkshire Moors Railway, including her initial running in trials in 2016, carrying wartime black livery.
    The famous steam locomotive became part of the National Collection in 2004, and is now preserved in BR condition with smoke deflectors and operated by Ian Riley Engineering.

    This really is a wonderful collection of shots, well done. It’s a beautiful looking locomotive and it is definitely my favourite steam engine of all time. Would love to come over to the UK one day when it is running. Merry Christmas from Tasmania.

      That he is. I watched a clip of him in Victoria Australia in 1989. He had that same headboard on but it was set higher up in front of his chimney.

    I just want to say a heartfelt thankyou to all the drivers firemen other crew members all the on board staff and the maintenance crews that work so hard to keep this ultra special locomotive on the rails.

      You are looking at 1472 N. That is Scotsman's original number. I think it lasted about a year before it was changed to 4472, he was named Flying Scotsman, and put on display at the Wembley exhibition. It was there that the story of his fame began.
