      this song also hits me on a personal level. I relate to the first verse but the second one I understand and that's why I'm still here. one of my attempts I got a call during the act and was told I was about to be a father. After that I joined the army and I continue to live mostly for others(I'm working on that). I'm sad to say I still have those thoughts and have started attempts since then but every time I think about people I might hurt in doing so. Joyner Lucas has another emotional rap video you should check out based off a true story “Ross Capicchioni.”
    There’s also an interview of Ross in a separate video “Skateboarder’s Unbelievable Survival Story | Ross Capicchioni” for additional perspective. In my opinion, the interview pairs really well after watching the song.

    Joyner is an amazing artist. Some more of his music i would definitely recommend would be "im not racist" it covers the typical stereotypes that people percieve each other, sharing their views. Also, "Ross capicchioni" it is based on a true story so i dont know how easy it would be for you to react to it but its an incredible story

    • @Rayvn7
      @Rayvn7 Год назад

      .....It literally doesn't. It literally has a black character who's personality is exactly the real personality of the real black people that caused racism against black people. And has a white character who is someone who literally doesn't even exist and who says only false "points" that zero non-racists who dislike BLM ever say because the actual problems about BLM are completely unrelated to that. People with the white character's personality do exist, but they exist in white, black, and Indian, and their target is "all homeless people" and "all teenagers who act like teenagers", with absolutely zero of it to do with anybody's race and absolutely zero has to do "stereotypical ghetto personality", although people with this personality would also complain about anyone who sells or uses drugs. The race which has the opinion of the white character most often, might be Arab; at least all Arabs I've met who don't harass me as a female, every single one of them has said the things that that white character says. Joyner Lucas should watch Tom McDonald so that he knows what the actual criticisms of BLM and ghetto people are rather then falsely pretending that it is "because they do not work in an office" or whatever.

      I can't imagine. I think that sometimes when God allows this to happen, it can give you the experience and opportunity to reach out to others that have that same struggle. Empathy is something that can't be faked. There are many out there that need your experience and proverbial shoulder to cry on. This is something that can help both people lift each out out of this pit. Here's the catch... It takes the strength of 50 men to find that courage to step up and do it. In turn, you find new strength. I know it's hard to understand, but God truly loves you. It's very hard to see it sometimes when you have this kind of profound loss. I'm so very sorry to hear about Johnny. I'm sorry seems to be too little of a respnce to offer, but I'm grappling with finding those words that will always escape me. Praying for you, my friend.

  • @poolhallshark
    @poolhallshark 2 года назад +12

    Man, that was a heavy one. And that number of suicides is sickening. I just have to wonder HOW many could have been saved if someone would just have the guts to ask "How are you?" or just to reach out an arm to let the other person know that you see him/her. You "just" have to be strong enough to tackle an honest answer. And I think THAT is what's causing the hesitation really. Or maybe even the fear of being met by anger. You just have to be mentally strong enough to actually DO it. Just remember that your action may save someone's life. That should make it all worth while. Right ? Hmm... It's a very difficult topic, without an easy or obvious answer (though it should be). I keep experiencing my mind spinning in circles, and feel that my answers come right back at me, ready to hit me in the face. As if to say "Oh yeah? It's THAT easy? I'll show you something.." That is my full circle. The SAFE circle, where I have been so many times before in my mind. I just hope I'll be strong enough to dodge that blow and break the circle when and if I'm faced with it.
    I think your reaction was absolutely great, and I'm not one second in doubt if you did the right thing posting it. It helps raise awareness, which is always a good thing.
    Take care, Chris !

    • @larryshair
      @larryshair  2 года назад +9

      Thanks man. Sometimes, people that find themselves caught in these thoughts benefit from reaching out to others that have the same issue. Helping others and being able to relate to where they are and that you can empathize let's that person know they aren't alone, and that act of reaching out can help raise them out of that same pit. So many think they are alone and that nobody could understand where they are in their lives. That's the sad part. It can take the strength of ten elephants to reach out and say that a person needs help. It's a very dark and scary place to be left with your thoughts. I almost didn't release this reaction. I really struggled with this decision. I really appreciate your confirming that it was the right thing to do. Thanks brother!

    I'm gonna tell you something relatively personal. I thought about suicide since I was 10, I'm 27 now. For a long time it was just real gentle and showed up in anger. At 18 and 19 it got really hard to put aside my hatred and anger, not only towards the world but myself. I thought about just fucking driving into a wall or blowing my fucking head off regularly. I wanted some peace. I got help though, now I talk to someone frequently and take medication. It may not seem like it but those meds can save your life. I still sometimes have a flashing thought of suicide but it's rare. And it's nothing I can't get past. Sorry I got off course, sometimes it's hating yourself to the point that you no longer want to live. For me at this point the way I want to go is keeping someone else safe. I want to give my life for something good. I also look forward to joining my kin in the hall of my ancestors.

    My fiance. May 2016. Memorial Day weekend. I know that we’re supposed to “remember the ones not here”, but JFC, how do you tell the world that the person you loved more than you love yourself... decided that ending his pain was more important than his soon-to-be-wife? Than his two kids (not mine, previous relationship)? How do you tell the world “oh, yeah, he existed, but now he doesn’t”, when most of the world woudln’t even be able to pick him out of a line-up? How do you go thru the rest of your life, knowing that you weren’t good enough to stop him?
    My therapist says that I shouldn’t blame myself. Most of the time, I listen to him, & I’m ok. Put on the mask, go out in public, pretend that everything is fine. Smile, smile, smile, make sure you don’t ever make anyone else feel uncomfortable. Go home, take off the mask, & grab the cat, hoping to keep the memories at bay for... just a little while. Just a little while longer. Hoping that this year... maybe this year I can get thru the end of May without wanting to curl into a ball in my closet, & try to muffle screams that threaten to rip my vocal cords to shreds... maybe this year I can finally tell the world “no, I’m not ok. I haven’t been ok for a very long time, & I can’t find my way out of the darkness in my mind.”
    Maybe this year.

      I can't even begin to imagine. There are so many out there that need help and sometimes, when you are in a position like you are and have been in, sometimes finding a person that is dealing with what you have been dealing with is sometimes very helpful. I really believe that God allows us to experience these things in life so we can relate to others that have been through what we have been through so we can truly empathize with others and lend that shoulder to cry on. Imagine you were the only person in this world that experienced this. What lonely place. But there are others that have found the strength to move on and rise above it. You can be that person to help others that are experiencing things that you have dealt with. You will soon find that 1. You're not alone. 2. You have so very much to offer to others that in turn, will help them find their path. Remember, a diamond can only be created with heat and extreme pressure. Blessings my dear friend.

      @@larryshair I’m actually working on my masters in Psych. A little of “physician, heal thyself” in that decision. I can’t save him. I can’t save the millions worldwide who are lost to their darkness. But maybe, between my schooling & my therapist, I can finally figure out how to lead others back into the light. Even if I only save one or two, that’s still one or two that can look back on the trauma & go “you tried to kill me, but i’m still here, bitch.”
      I just need to figure out how to say that to my own darkness, & mean it.
      As an aside, Icon For Hire’s song “Hollow” actually might be a good song to maybe cleanse how deep these last few of yours have been. Any of their stuff from “You Can’t Kill Us” on (so, 2016 & after) has some really good stuff in it. Their most recent album “Amorphous” is one that I have colloquially started calling “a middle finger to the demons in your head”.

    This is a hard song for me, I struggle with severe depression everyday & you are absolutely right...I have to tell myself everyday "I can get through this day, I'm not going to quit." Its not easy, it sucks and it hurts. Having the right people makes all the difference in the world. I wouldnt be alive if it wasnt for my parents, my wife and my therapist. And yet even having that support there are times were that feels like its not enough. Those times....those times are when you come face to face with your inner demons and you have to have the strength to reach out for help because if you dont they will swallow you whole. Another song that promotes suicide prevention and awareness is Logics' 1-800, beautiful song but hard to get through.

    Phenomenally powerful artist and song. Great reaction as always, I've cried many times to this song and as a man I don't mind admitting that, I've suffered major depressive disorder for over a decade, I'm getting married next week and I love this woman to death but I'm still numb it's the worst feeling in the world I could never explain it and when I try to people say they understand but they really don't. I could have a billion dollars and still feel like this, money, nothing would change it. I've tried everything but I still hold as strong as I can everyday and will continue to do so.
    You looking into my eyes telling me your experiences with this and saying "I lost, I lost, I Lost!" Really hit me hard, your words were so powerful and motivating to show how all it caused is pain and heartache and I thank you for showing that it does put so much into perspective. I know noone will understand the feeling unless they've been through it but those are words that could save a life, you're a great man and I'm sorry for your losses it does make me really think about it alot. I will never forget those words, thank you ❤
    Would love to see you react to Eminem - Beautiful.

    Two very important people in my life have taken this route or made this choice. I have still never really been able to answer the question of, “Why would they think that?” “Why would we be happy without them?” These questions circle my head many times, everyday being reminded of what I’ve lost. This song is a great representation of how it feels. Joyner has been one of my favorite artists for a long time, he writes from the heart, he says things that nobody really seems to deliver in their songs, nobody talks about this stuff like him. Summary; he’s a great artist, love his work, what he does, and “I’m Not Racist” is a great song by him. But the one thing I want to say is, don’t do it, there may not be a clear cut way to get through the darkness, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see light. Don’t do it.

    So, I have an interesting idea for you. You seem to have a strong response to emotional songs, and I love your passion when talking about the real life consequences of the hard decisions people are faced with. Remixes and samples are a huge part of Hip-Hop/Rap coulture, I'd love to see a two part reaction to J-Cole - Lost Ones ( ruclips.net/video/it-DvwBAkxw/видео.html ), followed up by A.N.Ts remix ( ruclips.net/video/Fx2u-XVHXZg/видео.html ). The original by J-Cole deals with a young couple finding out they are having a child, and whether she should have an abortion, the remix by A.N.T is the song from the perspective of a child raised by a single mom after the father leaves. They both have mildly strong language, but it is used conversationally to drive home emotional notes.

    I have a very different perspective on death, due to my own experience of leaving my body due being witness to the attempted murder of my best friends mom by some dudes who broke into his house while we were all home. I was 8 years old and I experience what it’s like to be out of body and that feeling was euphoric beyond anything the human brain can comprehend. Now I see death something fantastic and even how selfish it is to take the experience away from the deceased due to our own selfish need of not wanting to be without them. Call me crazy, but if you knew what that feeling was like, you would be happy when someone you love makes it there. Rip dad, I love you, but I don’t want you back here.
    Enjoy where you are…

    I want to thank you for releasing this reaction. I’ve battled with depression and suicidal thoughts for a very long time… after my last attempt a few years ago, I found this song and play it when ever I find myself in those situations.
    I remember waking up in the hospital and seeing the hurt and confusion on my brothers face… and the fact that he was angry, not with me, but with himself for not knowing how to help me or what to do… the second part of this song in some way helps just bring that memory back and reminds me that I have a reason to keep going. That I have people that do love me and that I can’t let down.
    Years later and this same brother is now a dad. And I can’t help but remind myself that I very nearly gave up the chance to meet my niece and love this little girl and be the best uncle I can be for her.
    Depression is very real… but so are the people that love and support us. We have reasons to take another breath. To keep fighting. To keep living.

    This is the first I have heard this artist, and I think this is the saddest and most profound music videos and songs I have seen in a very long time, maybe ever and I definitely think it's important content for people to see.
    I have suffered with my mental health for over twenty years, a number of those years self harming to cope as it felt like the only thing I could control, but hiding it from those around me. I have made two attempts on my life in the past and thankfully neither successful and from those I was able to get the help I desperately needed from loved ones and professionals. In the years since then I have lost several people close to me to suicide and the pain they left behind is indescribable and made me realise how selfish my own actions had been, gave me the strength to change the things in my life which were dragging me downwards starting with getting out of a toxic marriage, seeking counselling and medication and moved forward in life. I am now with an amazing man who knows my background (he lost his abusive father to suicide), is able to tell when I start to slip and help me through those dark times, I have more light days than dark and although self harm is a harder thing to get past, since losing loved ones to suicide it has made me see that this is not the way. My family, friends and those around me keep me here... I would never want to cause them the hurt which comes with ending ones own life.
    This video is incredibly hard hitting and heartbreaking but it is so important for people to see how these actions affect the people left behind. It is refreshing to see mental health talked about in music from the other perspective rather than the person going through it, but rather the people left behind. I'm sorry to ramble here but this one has hit me right in the feels :'(
    If anyone ever needs to talk, reach out... if you feel like you have no-one, shout louder, please never feel like this is the only way. Sending love to all affected by mental health and suicide... it's ok to not be ok, but taking your own life is not the answer.

    My interpretation is that he doesn’t see him on the floor after he falls and is reading the crumpled blank paper because those were the first suicide attempts and his friend never “saw” them or realized anything was going on with him. No one saw him when he failed with the belt and didn’t know it happened and at the desk with the gun, he says he ran out of ink, so you see the friend reading the crumpled blank paper and again not knowing what his friend is going through. He only knows after his friend’s last attempt was successful…he didn’t see the cries for help before that 🥺
