"or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives, who sit and cry at night wishing they die, until they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe, we nothing to you, but we the fucking shit in they eyes" This line gets me everytime man
@@tomes7938 I’m not, I will just never get, what’s so hard about quoting something right you heard 5 seconds ago, which you could even replay, WHILE simultaneously writing the comment. Out of my imagination, since I remember the complete lyrics to at least 150 or 200 rap songs.
@@Livingtree32 maybe English isn't his first language, misspelling is completely OK, he passed the message, everyone got that point then there's you proving you're so much better then him, that's I don't get. I'm also not native so please correct me if I did wrong, no pun intended
Eminem has a TON of language in his music, but it really does add to the flow. He has such a big, amazing catalog. Loving watching you discover him! He can get pretty graphic in some songs though, just as a heads up. White America might be a song you like.
YES! and lt's very important to listen to them in that order! From the rage he had when he was young in Cleaning Out My Closet to the more mature way of thinking as an adult in Headlights many years later.
Whether intentional or not, the way he used a classic rock sample that the older generation would all recognize in a song talking about how parents hate him and his music is pure genius. The parents hear those first few notes and are sucked in, but then get called out by the lyrics for blaming hip hop for ruining their kids (which their parents blamed rock and roll for when they were younger). This era of Eminem is unmatched by anyone since and probably never will be.
"I dont want to listen to the language, but I want to hear the message" respect man. Sometimes we need to hear the things we don't want to, to learn the things we do not know. Your humility in trying something new and enjoying it is refreshing as hell. Keep it up man!
This is not just a self reflection of Marshall it's a dedication to all kids in the same situation that come from broken home's and feel pressured to be a certain type of person based on the environment they live in. The peer pressure to be a cool kid is crippling and makes you feel as if you're not good enough to be you. This song kinda lets these troubled teens know that it's okay and that you can be great without changing who you are. I hope this came out correctly it's really hard to put sentences together sometimes. Thank you for your time and prospective.
Hey bro, you explained that REALLY WELL, no joke., VERY well said, and I appreciate you explaining that to others so they can better understand what they are hearing. #respect
''or for anyone who's ever been through sh*t in their life'' i think em tries to say its not just him but anyone who's feeling like sh*t and on the edge of giving up on life. (this is just an add for ur good explanation)
“Your Never over”, “Going through changes”, and “Not afraid” are all songs you have to listen to. They aren’t gangster rap songs, just songs about moments in his life that changed him.
Little fun fact: Stephen Tyler and Joe Perry rerecorded their parts especially for the song. Later Eminem decided to go with the original samples in this song in consultation with them.
Some important context to this song: Eminem is sort of the scapegoat for getting white/rural teenagers to listen to rap in the 90s. It's not totally fair (the proliferation of the internet; MTV moving more towards rap after the 80s; etc), but him being the first white superstar rapper kinda made him the scapegoat. So the opening lyrics he is partially describing himself, but also describing this new phenomenon in America (and how uncomfortable it made the teenagers' parents feel). It's very much what he's talking about with the "judge's daughter" lyrics, too. He talks very directly about this in a song called 'White America'.
One of his BEST! Eminem dedicated 'Sing For The Moment' to David Smith - one of his young Irish fans who died the night before from cancer - Eminem had given him tickets for the show 💔 R.I.P. Em got choked up but got massive respect from the Irish crowd. 'Oxegen Festival' 2010, in Ireland It was the first time I'd seen Em live - UNBELIEVABLE! I've seen him 3 times - Oxegen, Tenants Vital (NI) and also at Slane Castle Ireland. He is one of the best live artists I've seen - OUTSTANDING! Peace to all the 'Stans' - from Ireland 💚
It's funny whenever I think of this song the color green immediately fills my mind, no doubt because of the video, but I didn't know the story about the Irish fan, it makes sense now.
Oh Larry, one song that that you might love is "Beautiful" by eminem. i mean theres lots of very good, deep meaningful songs. even his cheeky ones have a real meaning in there. hes a wordsmith after all and one of if not the best of all time
A few points: Whatever eminem song you're searching for look for the lyric video for it. If there's censoring then you'll at least have the lyrics in front of you. Or pull up the lyrics in a separate screen to follow along with. 2. Dont be hesitant with Em's "gangster" rap songs. Just go in open minded and you may just be as pleasantly surprised as his other songs. A good song to dip the toes into is Till I Collpase. 3. Slim Shady is incredibly theraputic, nothing more satisfying sometimes than listening to angry Eminem. Some MUST listen to Slim Shady songs: Cleaning Out my Closet, The Way I Am, Love the Way You Lie, The Ringer, and Fall.
None of those are slim shady songs at all? Slim shady songs would be like brain damage, I’m back, if I get locked up tonight, what’s the difference, under the influence, as the world turns etc. Interesting interpretation, unless you had some other meaning there
I guess it's up for interpretation then, but in Fall he states he's Shady - "you want Shady, you got him." So if he's Shady in that song then he's definitely Shady in The Ringer too. And cleaning out my closet and the way i am, he also brings out that ruthless cut throat taking no prisoners mentality, which is also what I associate with the Shady persona. In love the way you lie, he also brings out that violent side of shady that is prevalent in some the songs you mentioned. I guess you could also argue that it comes from Em/Marshall, but can argue either way based on his personal experiences. Just my interpretations anyway....
I adore him. I had this same reaction. My teenagers at the time introduced me to Em and I’ve never looked back. He’s a lyrical genius. Glad you found him too!
He really paints a picture and tells a story. He's definitely gifted at his craft. Also when you're looking up the artist try to find their actual channels. It will always have 30 to 50 million views. It may help to find the explicit versions. Can't wait to see you watch "Headlights"
Before watching "Headlights", Larry should watch the prequel "Cleaning Out My Closet". Cleaning ....is the back story of Eminem's life and his relationship with his mom. Headlights is the beautiful reconciliation with his mom. I would love to see these reactions back to back.
Thank you for giving Eminem a chance, and letting us see you react. It’s so cool to see people discover the genius of his music. Better late than never :)
Thank you for getting to this song!! As a 90s kid from Detroit, I grew up on Em and while it is nearly impossible to pick one song of his as my favorite, this one would be right at the top of the list! Helped me through some hard times! I get choked up during the 3rd verse nearly every time "That's why we sing for these kids who don't have a thing Except for a dream and a fucking rap magazine Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long Idolize their favorite rappers and know all their songs Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives So they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die 'til they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe We're nothin' to you, but we're the fucking shit in they eyes That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it Squeeze it and hold it 'cause we consider these minutes golden And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone Just let our spirits live on Through the lyrics that you hear in our songs"
It’s about kids growing up in tough home situations and explaining how music can be used as an escape and people trying to shut hip-hop down not understanding how important it really is to so many people and the impact it has on them. It’s also an extremely small chance he might actually see this though because he talks about how he occasionally likes to watch reaction videos of his own songs because he likes watching people try to break it down and see what they pull from the song and what bars they catch and which ones they don’t.
Hi there, great reaction AGAIN!!! As a STAN myself....On behalf of ALL THE STANS out there.... I gladly welcome you to the STAN FAN CLUB!!! As said in the other comments there are so many great songs you could listen to..... And go for the lyrics videos as they are very rarely censored..... Going through changes. Rock bottom. White America. Mosh. Darkness. Hallie's song. Not afraid. Lose yourself. And SOOOOO many more..... Keep up the great work and I really look forward to seeing more of your reactions.
You’ll never find an uncensored version of music videos unless you specifically see the word “uncensored“ in the title of the video (but that is very unlikely to find). The OP is right that lyrics-only videos will be much more likely to have uncensored songs. Definitely stay away from “officiaI video” crap like you watched here - that’s always going to be censored because _IT WAS MADE FOR TV._ Lol. I would think that would’ve been obvious to you, but guess not. ;) Btw, the tense you were looking for was *DIVED* lol. “I dived in...” P.S. Don’t bother with “White America.” No need to listen to racist crap.
@@larryshair Also..... Was just listening to an old Eminem playlist.... Legacy and Untouchable 2 very different songs but both very good interesting listens. Keep up the good reactions
Eminem is a very talented mythodical artist his music is full of beautiful, unique, and well thought out verses. Even if you don't like the strong language it's definitely worth listening to the uncensored versions. When you search the song if you search for the explicit version you should find the uncensored versions pretty easily. i'd personally recommend the songs - The way I am, Lose yourself, not afraid!
I am SO looking forward to see more Eminem content on this channel! Not only these important songs with Real messages, but also those dark comedy/twisted stories. As long as you start each song with an open mind and know that he only proves his genius in each song you will certainly appreciate each single bar of each single song. Great reaction as always!
I would listen to this song a lot growing up. This part of the last verse always hit home to me, "for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives So they sit and they cry at night, wishin' they'd die 'Til they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe We're nothin' to you, but we're the fuckin' shit in their eyes" If you dive further into Eminem's discography, I think you should check out The Way I Am and Not Afraid. Two songs from completely different eras of his life but they both really define who he was at the time.
Totally agree, especially on the bars. I absolutely love those bars, and the 4 preceding ones as well "That's why we sing for these kids who don't have a thing Except for a dream and a fucking rap magazine Who post pin-up pictures on all they walls Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs." Those 8 bars are the reason why this song is as powerful and deep as it is. Absolutely genius.
Yes, The Way I Am is my personal favorite and I’ve heard everything 100 times. I listen to that song whenever I’m frustrated or confused with myself or how I fit into life. It just sets me right. Lol
@pascal gerhardt sure, we could add Toy Soldiers =D i suggested Rap God cuz i was thinking about the phases Eminem went through... the angry boy, the joker/disser, the GOAT, the "grown up" admitting mistakes, the "im not a quitter" ... but hey is EM, we could spend hours choosing great songs
@@The_Real_Oklinhos true but you kinda have to be a bit more hardcore fan of EM to get all the references... isnt there the line abot the kids from columbine ... you know how it goes :D
I've bingewatched all of your Eminem reactions after I had one of your videos recommended earlier today, been listening to Eminem for as far as I can remember. I love your real, emotional and honest reaction. To keep it short: I have some more songs I'm almost sure you would appreciate and enjoy. - 8 Mile road (pretty unknown song, but one of my favorites. He talks about his life and what was going on behind the scenes) - Beautifull - The way I am - Careful what you wish for - like toy soldier (about beef that went to far in rap) - Lose yourself (one of his best, if not best songs in general in my Opinion) there are plenty more, these are just the first few that came to mind when I thought about "deeper" songs And if you're interested in Eminems raw skill in terms of writing and rapping, also just a few that come to my Mind right away: - Rap God (Self explenatory I think, he used to hold the record for the fastest rap in a song with this) - Godzilla (He beat his own record with this song) - Without me (just one of the all time classics) - Business (one of my personal favorites in terms of his flow) Regardless of if you react to any of these songs, looking forward to more videos of you and watching you react to other artists after I'm done with Eminem too. Much love from Germany, keep it up :)
I fully understand you about the use of language ... and I was in a dilemma whether to introduce my teenage children to Eminem. But I realized that otherwise I would deny them one of the greatest artists in the world. (I think compared to Em, everyone else sounds like Salieri) I introduced them to his music gradually and explained that he was also a chronicler. He has mentioned all the important things and people. Not for the curses, but for the offensive language he once used - it was a reflection of society. Twenty-five years ago, many people used that slang. As for the dark side - he has songs from all genres (crime, action, drama, romantic, family, and even porn). P.S. I have never written so long comment on RUclips, but your enthusiasm is contagious and inspiring. PS 2 - I will give a chance to the Christian Rock:)
As long as someone is mature enough to understand just because Em talks like he does, doesn't mean you have too. His passion, and messages deserve to be listened too.
What a guy. Goes through and likes almost every comment. I just found your channel today and have been binge watching all day. May have cried a few times along with you.
I will recommend you "legacy". the language there is harsher, but for me whenever I'm mad or really depressed it weirdly releases a lot of stress and that's priceless. I love your reaction on his songs because you really get him and listen to his lyrics. you seem like such a nice guy and open minded, and it's so cool that you explore different music.! btw.. I grow up in an abusive home and had a drug addiction. em's music literally saved my life in the most darkest times, and when I think of breaking down and use I think about him still been clean and sober. he's a hero to me
@@larryshair thank you so much 😊 and also you are my first RUclips subscription! here is a link to "legacy" with lyrics- ruclips.net/video/7csKaIhn8NY/видео.html
@@larryshair Hey there Larry! Keep em coming! Wanted to suggest a little Indian band named Bloodywood. I do so considering your interest in songs with deep meanings and not for what's offered in the visuals per se. Do check out these songs when you have the time. They are subtitled too (The songs are usually a combination of Hindi and English). These 3 songs in particular is bound to pull some strings. I assure you that you won't regret it. Eminem definitely saved me from suicide. And I feel like I can say that without feeling ashamed of the depression I go through, that's what's best about him.. He inspires hope.. eternal.
I love how you have given rap a chance, Eminem and NF is a great start. Even the “gangster” rappers also have very deep and meaningful songs, plus the ability to mix words, have them rhyme, and tell a coherent story is fascinating. I highly recommend watching the uncensored version when you have time because there are some of the best parts that got cut out and are worth going back to listen to. As you mention hearing it as the artist intended is important in some cases because those strong word can actually help describe. “We’re nothing to you, but we’re the f’n sh.. in their eyes” that line alone and the line about is he’s a “criminal how the f could he raise a little girl” they are much more impactful with the swearing in my opinion, it’s showing raw emotion. I admit there is a lot of filler swearing in music and rap, but I think there are points where it enhances the music, and Eminem is one of the best (or the best) at that
Great reaction Larry, and I’m sure it was frustrating because there are a lot of key moments that are censored in this song. I’m sure others will now post links along with their comments to future Eminem reactions for you! I would suggest “Not Afraid” or “Beautiful” as your next one!
Okay, so I don’t think Eminem was ever really trying to attract the middle aged, middle management, white guy demographic but here we are lining up and that speaks loudly to the power and universal nature of the messages that he so masterfully crafts. That being said, going back to his early days in the group D12, Slim Shady and Eminem are 2 separate-ish personalities and if you venture into the Slim Shady side of things, you’ll find the very disturbing Mr Hyde of his music. The “family man” is MOST DEFINITELY not there. And without trying to discourage you, I will say more likely than not, you won’t be prepared for what you’ll hear. Deep down, though, the message is still there but you have to step really far back to see it. You see, when kids grow up in a violent, abusive, crime and drug infused environment, bad things can happen to their very impressionable minds; bad, permanent, scary things. Once you see the 2 sides of the world he struggles to survive in, his song with Rihanna Monster makes a lot more sense.
Right now I'm going through some really hard thing at least for me struggling to finish school and find the school fee and feeling like I'm drawing for a future but finding back Eminem... With this and loose yourself ... His song will never get old
I was at that concert in Detroit, it was AMAZING. I just found the entire concert on RUclips a couple weeks ago and it was like I was in my seat again.
I was born in '77, so there's no way I'd not heard Dream On prior to this track. However, this is what really put it on the map for me. I fell in love with this track and, in turn, fell in love with Dream On.
It's so cool to see these songs that meant so much to me as a kid, experienced for the first time by a good dude who appreciates good music. So grateful to have found this channel.
i really enjoy your reaction to the eminems songs. And I'm glad you like the songs so much. can't wait for you to respond to more of eminem's songs. Greetings from a stan from Austria
Wow Chris! You actually got through 1.1K comments. Truly unreal! So good to see your sparkling spirit return. Keep smiling and winking but PACE yourself. That's the caregiver in me now. Blessings and hugs. Patti
Stumbled on your channel watching other RUclipsr Em reactions. Love your reactions and looking forward to seeing more. Also, This is how I look at some of his more “scandalous” or extreme content…he IS an artist. Just like anyone else who say, writes a script for a gruesome horror movie…people don’t give them crap or try to sensor that. This is no different. He’s fought through demons (like many of us). And he says out loud what many won’t. Em’s music (along with some others) has for sure saved me thru some hard times. (P.S they didn’t just censor cuss words on this one, they cut out the word gun multiple times which definitely took away some meaning.)
I love love LOVE your reaction videos, seriously. As someone who grew up as a young child, watching and listening to Eminem, it makes me happy to see people of all ages explore and express their appreciation for him. May I suggest you also listen and react to Rock Bottom. It’s one of my absolute favorite songs, that draws deep reflection on the lives of the disenfranchised and exploited. Especially being that this song was written before (but was produced after) he was introduced to Dr. Dre… it brings attention to his material conditions at the time. The struggle and pain that millions of people can relate to. I love listening to his older music, and Rock Bottom was wayyyy ahead of it’s time. ❤️
Much respect! Been watching your Eminem reactions for a while now and I love the way u are opening yourself up to something outside of your comfort zone and watching you realize what most of us already know, which is, em is a genius. Absolutely love it!
I Appreciate you and your ability to experience different types of music without being pre-programmed to automatically dislike and judge them. Keep it real my fellow youtube human being.
I’m so happy for Em and him getting chosen for hall of fame. He looks so much healthier now than he ever has. He’s got his music, people that support him, his restaurant, I hope he keeps doing him.
I consider Eminem a "poet". He expresses himself through poetic lyrics, words, feelings and emotions. His "Cleaning out my closet" being about his mother is the first song I ever heard, because I immediately related to it about my own mother. I felt like he was talking about her, the words fit my feelings about my mother perfectly. Once I heard that first song, I went directly into all of his songs, once I bought one album I just kept going. I also think how so many have put down and trashed Courtney Love, yet if you actually listen to some of her songs, you may change your mind. Those preconceived perceptions are what stops people from giving some musical artist a chance. Her album "Live through this" many are stunned and realize she is very deep and express's herself incredibly well as a woman. That album got me through my divorce, her lyrics "Go ahead take everything I want you to go ahead take everything take everything take everything"! I played some of her songs for my therapist during that time (many years ago) of my divorce and she was very impressed with "getting out that anger and expressing it out". She told me she went and bought "Live through this" and then proceeded to use the songs in her "women's group" and getting in touch with their anger and expressing it! A young woman had "loaned" Courtney Love's "Live through this" and said "listen to this I think it will help you get through this perios in your life". She was absolutely correct!
I get goosebumps from Em's songs in the first place and on top of that I get goosebumps from your commentary! Definitely a goosebumps festival going on here You could ask your son to send you links to uncensored versions:) so you don't spoil the fun but also use the right ones
as a poc a lot of us love em cuz he rocked with our culture and has always been in support because those were his friends growing up, thats not to say that he didnt get hate from both minorities and white people alike. Its just recognizing talent as it is. he was up lifted by a black producer and then turned around and helped a lot of other people make careers in rap and hip hop, and he'll always be one of my favorite artists.
Omgosh you are such a pleasure! I'm 60 years old; I raised 3 girls on my own (their dad died when they were 2, 4 & 6). When they were 14, 16, 18; they listened to Eminem, and I chose to listen too because I wanted to be aware of what they were listening to. I got chills with every song. I'm with you on the language (I once banished a young man from coming over for his f-bombs; he was so respectful after I let him come back weeks later). My girls were all 3 gorgeous and very popular so he hated being banished lol, but I was pretty strict on that. Anyway... Love your reactions to the best rapper ever. I also love your reactions to Pentatonix! You are so insightful and real. Thank you!
Well Larryshair, on this one especially, it's CLEAR that you are starting to "get it". And honestly, it's refreshing to see and I know it's refreshing to you as well. Because now you are peeling back the layers and actually starting to see that Em is not the bad guy. Rap music isn't the bad guy. Music, race, words, appearances, opinions etc aren't bad. Any individual is capable of being bad, but he isn't one of them lol. It is awesome to see you start to get a BRAND NEW view and I'm so glad I'm able to watch you, as you see that his stories being told by whatever lyrics, are a real part of why he is different than most any other rapper. Sure, there are several that grew up as Stan's and may copy that style, which is GREAT btw, but the original is the one you just reacted to. He has been judged HIS ENTIRE LIFE, FOR THINGS HE HAD NO CONTROL OVER, broke, broken home, different schools every couple of months, etc etc etc. Which ironically is what happens to a large part of our population, due to the color of their skin, religion, etc etc. Hell, he has always been judged because he is a white guy doing rap. EXACTLY like when Tiger Woods took over the (predominantly white persons) golf world and became the GOAT. Anyways, for others, don't judge. Reserve judgement on anybody based on what that INDIVIDUAL does, not necessarily says, or looks like, or where they were born. I'm white. I was homeless for a year and let me tell you that I know a lot about being judged and mistreated simply because I was broke, and had no home. I bothered nobody. But I had the law running me away from stores as I was simply walking through them to try to warm up. And after makjng me leave, several times they would liiterally assaut me afterward because they KNEW nobody would listen to the homeless guy. PLEASE RESERVE JUDGEMENT everybody, please. I used to be able to walk through those stores, them being so kind, and it was warm. But once you don't drive up in a car, and you aren't buying, it all changes. So, I know something about it as well. Praise the Lord that He saved me. But as I went through that, I swore to myself that one day I would get that exact same job and I would show THEM and every other one who wore a badge, how TO TREAT PEOPLE, AND NOT JUDGE THEM for ANY REASON. And, a year later, I started working on that, building myself back up. A total of 6 yrs later, I landed that job after relentless work getting there, and I did make that my career goal, and absolutely followed through with it, each and every day.. I recently left that career, after giving ALL I had to offer. I'm satisfied with it, their judgement fueled my EVERYDAY drive to get a job, then cheap apartment, then 2nd and 3rd jobs at once, and their ignorance and hate drove me to get there. It reminds me a lot of Em's life story, just mine being on a MUCH smaller scale of course lol. I've spoken to countless groups, big and small, often in Churches, witnessing to all who wanted to hear about my story and how judging others happens, and how to realize that most of them are doing it. And it always gives the kids hope too, and that's always AMAZING and makes my whole struggle WORTH IT. Sorry for not taking my ADD meds (apparently LOL jk jk), but yeah, WE AS A PEOPLE CAN SPREAD THESE MESSAGES to others to help stop some of the division we currently face. I hope anybody who reads this WILL figure out how they can, on any level. Thank you LarrysHair, for having an open enough mind to allow in things that previously you assumed were bad. Because now you are TRULY seeing why so many people loved his songs and messages all this time. MUCH RESPECT TO YOU Larry, Eminem, every fan who sees this and MOST of all, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 🙏🙏

I subscribed to you 2 months ago and i have to say to see all those rollercoaster of emotions you’ve had reacting to Eminem warms my heart and i really enjoy your eminem reactions so much. I grew up with Eminem and im from a broken home where i had narcissists as parents and a lot of trauma and drugs involved. Eminem helped me through all of those times and still does. He will never know the true impact and healing he have given to this world. Keep these reactions coming king! 🤍 Edit: i really want you to react to the funny songs of Eminem aswell! Like «the real slim shady» or «without me» I think you would have a really good laugh and understand Em’s twisted humour 😂
Not even a big rap fan but know a good amount, no other artist wears their heart on their sleeve in their music like Eminem, not a single one It’s truly incredible
Your reviews are so real coming from another generation it's refreshing to see the appreciation for a new artist essentially making a new song from a classic done right
He’s a lyrical genius! I can’t say it enough! He can rap and flow to anything at any speed or any cadence. And his story telling and word play is second to NONE
Sometimes we just need something to grab onto, some spark, hope, and he offers that. I can’t explain what his music did for me, when I first heard it in 99. A danish girl, far removed from his world. But he got me, his music and his voice was what I needed. His strength, his spite, his anger, he expressed what I couldn’t, and soppy story yes, but he was my crutch and my voice for years. And not to mention his skills. His self reflection and his growth over the years. My love is still there after all these years:)
Absolute lyrical genius. You should try listening to " till I collapse " my personal favorite Eminem song, also " beautiful ". Another deep and meaningful song.
I highly recommend taking a listen to “Beautiful” by Eminem, but NOT the official music video, for it cuts the last verse from the song. It gives an even deeper look into how Marshall felt both as a child searching for attention and his thoughts while he was the most famous he ever was in his career. Another Eminem song I think you’d enjoy is “Hailie’s Song,” a song named after his daughter about his life as a father and how Hailie influenced his life, but only listen to this one if your okay with some vulgar language that some would call excessive. Thank you for sharing your reactions, I look forward to seeing you continue your journey of widening your horizons.
When you learn from his songs about the things he went through as a child into early adulthood his talent and success is even more impressive. He’s the biggest selling artist worldwide post 1983, he’s about to perform at the Super Bowl, and was just nominated for the Rock N Roll HOF in first ballot eligibility. All of that from a guy who grew up without a father, raised by an addict mother with Munchausen Syndrome, physically bullied for years by his peers, raised in extreme poverty, and obtaining only an 8th grade education. I’m sure he wouldn’t have the same drive without those experiences, but most people don’t succeed with even just 1 of those things against them.
I didn't know that his mom had munchausen syndrome. I grow up with a mother who had it. We went to the hospital at least once a week and i have been eating so many medicine's that i shouldn't have been taking. That made me an addict at only 12 yrs old and i still fighting with opiate addiction. In 2019 i got this medicine, Subuxone, so i haven't been mixing opiates with other drugs since then, i still need to do test for drugs every other week. Sorry if my english is bad, it's not my first language.
@@emzie77 yes, she would crush up Valium in his food, as well as other medications. He mentions her Munchausen in Cleaning Out My Closet and some of the drugs he was fed in other songs like GNAT “Mom fed me Valium like air, thought that’s why they called it a high chair”. Sorry to hear you’ve had to suffer through similar experiences. I’m glad you are fighting through it and trying to heal from it. All the best to you in your struggle against addiction. One day at a time ♥️
It's okay if you're not into the shock value stuff, fortunately there's still a lot of "serious" songs from him you can listen to. :) But I guess based on overall output NF is going to be more your cup of tea, he *always* raps about life and serious stuff. :D Em's Slim Shady side is prevalent throughout his entire career, so his newer albums still has shock value stuff, horrorcore, pissing people off and the like. :D But recently he's mostly obsessed about the technicality of rap, seems like he wants to show that he's the best rapper on every song, packing his verses full of wordplay, homophones, double-, triple (sometimes quadruple) entendres, and complex rhyme schemes, flows. I don't think you'd enjoy those kinds of songs too much, but who knows... :) Maybe we'll see. :) Oh, and official music videos are always going to be censored. Try searching like "song title" + "uncensored" or "dirty".
I would avoid the darker Slim Shady stuff. That music is pure entertainment. Like Bonnie and Clyde and Kim. Those aren't good songs to react to unless you are in it for the shock value. He doesn't do much music like that anymore as he has matured. Eminem is a very humble, intelligent kind person. He does a lot of charity work and even has his own charity. He is a lyrical mastermind and a great storyteller. I am a huge Stan, but I don't recommend his darker music to be reacted to. I also recommend Eminem - Headlights ruclips.net/video/7bDLIV96LD4/видео.html
I think it would be interesting for him to see all sides of Em's music eventually. So let's not discourage it so quickly. I've never seen those tracks as just shock value songs. Although the events are fictional and extreme, I think they aid in helping you understand the full depth of his anger towards that person at that time in his life. You miss that if you skip out of Kim and B&C. Just always follow the advice of Sing for the Moment, and don't take it literal. (And I don't expect him to like the songs if he ever hears them, but the context is key).
Love the Eminem videos. When I was younger I didn't give eminem a chance because of the stigma. About 10 or 15 years ago I decided to listen to a few of his songs and he is now my favorite artist in his genre and one of my favorite of all genres. I came from a classic rock background and find it crazy that he can touch such a broad audience. A couple other songs worth looking into... Anth - Let it Go Anth - Selfish (the two almost go hand in hand) Jon Connor - Someone Like Me
Been an Eminem fan since day 1. Seen him live 4x. It's nice seeing you really get it and see the alter ego is just that and Eminem has so many layers to him and his music. This song literally brought me up from a dark place. Eminem has helped millions of people in the world. Awesome
So Slim Shady is his alter ego as you mentioned. In both of his "Ego's" he has the same witiniess and level of lyricism, but with shady, the witiness turns into humor rather than a deep message you'd get with Marshall. Some of Slim Shady's stuff has graphic language, but I wouldn't call it gangster rap. His songs, although vulger, have real messages about the world through his experience. I would recommend "Without Me".
He had a brief gangster rap phase when 50 came out. Didnt last long but theres a couple of songs in his discography you could say were gangster rap, like soldier
You want to see Eminem's gangsta side, you need to hear the songs where he disses artist for disrespecting his daughter. For example, the song Go To Sleep.
The song Insane is a perfect example. On the surface it's vulgare and disgusting and flat out bad taste. He exaggerates what he went through but its not for many, many others. It's uncomfortable and funny and witty and disgusting. Its Slim Shady. Its a master piece of a song when you really break and the funny thing is, its not even close to his best,.
You say he will never see it, but I wouldn't be so sure. He talks about reactors to music and talks about going down the rabbit hole of RUclips himself sometimes. He's actually responded to a couple reactors on Twitter as well. **edit** ... responding to the end conversation, Eminems mom was like my dad. Roles were reversed but I felt everything he was going through when he first came out, because I was going through it. I don't think you've dove into the stuff about his mom yet though.
I recently found your channel and I've got to say, I'm loving seeing you discover eminem and rap in general. I started listening to eminem at way too young of an age to be honest, but the way he encapsulates the rage that certain childhood situations can cause in people. It sort of became an outlet for me. Seeing eminem through your eyes, as a new perspective, is an incredible experience. Almost feels like rediscovering him. I would strongly recommend you do a reaction to Joyner Lucas' song I'm sorry. It's a brilliant song about suicide, it's genuinely phenomenal. though I would advise googling a picture of joyner lucas before hand so you know who in the video is hi
pretty much every official eminem music video from his earlier in his career is going to be censored. The media hated him and censored everything he put out.
You were on my recommended videos to watch for "When I'm Gone" and then I watched this one as well and then subbed. Great to hear honest first time reactions, especially from someone who wouldn't typically listen to this genre. If I could recommend another "meaningful/poetic" rapper to react to I would say "Alone With Me- by Hopsin. He does have other traditional gangster rap songs but this one hits home pretty hard. Keep it up
I’m loving your reactions to him. I’m 45 and started listing to Eminem when he first came out. But I was raised in a very eclectic musical household. I grew up hearing everything from ray Charles, Elvis, Billie holiday Beegees, queen, Aerosmith, zeppelin, steviewonder, Tina turner, run dmc, nirvana , Pearl Jam, Metallica, journey, dolly pardon, bob segar , Tim McGraw.. and feel so lucky. I was always told good music is good music. A good song is a good song. Race, genera, style doesn’t matter. Music speaks to your soul and to your heart. I love watching people watching new music and I love learning about things I have missed out on. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts and sometimes I would walk out loving the opening band I had never heard of that night. It was some of my favorite memories of shows were discovering a new artist. So I love watching you do this journey. Eminem is one of those once in a decade artists that will be heard for generations. Just like Elvis, queen, MJ he will be one of the legends of his craft. I would recommend headlights, toy soldiers, monsters, the entire album curtain call. Start from the beginning and watch all the videos on that album and it will give you a brief overview of his history in an order
I really love this journey you've started for yourself, and I am glad to be a part of it. I love many genres of music myself, so I love to see others open their minds and find something beautiful that they had no idea existed. If you would ever think of branching to another rap artist, I would have to suggest Wrekonize. He is a part of a group called mayday, and they kinda bridge the gap between rap and other genres. But he has a lot of good solo stuff as well. A good starter track would be - shortcuts and dead-ends by mayday. Please check it out, even if you don't react to it on the channel.
Really like your reactions to Eminem, so cool that you opened up to something that you never thought was your "thing". You could do "My Darling" by Eminem if you want something you've never heard before. It's very special, it's about his inner darkness. Also, you could do "Darkness", which is partially about the Las Vegas shooting. It stirred up a lot in social media, there were many conversations about it. Hope you find this helpful, greetings from Sweden! :)
"or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives, who sit and cry at night wishing they die, until they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe, we nothing to you, but we the fucking shit in they eyes" This line gets me everytime man

Eminem has a TON of language in his music, but it really does add to the flow. He has such a big, amazing catalog. Loving watching you discover him! He can get pretty graphic in some songs though, just as a heads up. White America might be a song you like.
Yeah White America is a great example. He got a ton of backlash from that track

Cleanin Out My Closet Uncensored
YES! and lt's very important to listen to them in that order! From the rage he had when he was young in Cleaning Out My Closet to the more mature way of thinking as an adult in Headlights many years later.
Agreed agreed
Amen man.

Very well said!

Well said Clouds!
“lose yourself” and “not afraid” are two of the biggest songs you haven’t reacted to yet. both are amazing songs with some great story telling
this might be appropriate to react after he is a little deeper into rap thing. For now, stick into the songs with melody and straight on stories.
yeah since its not much swearing I guess. A real Eminem reactor will react to the uncensored Eminem, the way its meant to be heard!
Lose Yourself is definitely a must.
“Your Never over”, “Going through changes”, and “Not afraid” are all songs you have to listen to. They aren’t gangster rap songs, just songs about moments in his life that changed him.
Great songs I would add leaving heaven to that list
This is a great list. Going through changes is a must out of all these
Beautiful
And Difficult
Could've said it better then myself! 👍
This song brings tears to my eyes almost every time just due to the pure passion in Eminem’s voice
Literally me
Don’t be afraid to find an uncensored video midway through your video man people will appreciate you keeping it real, you can’t sensor art!
Little fun fact: Stephen Tyler and Joe Perry rerecorded their parts especially for the song. Later Eminem decided to go with the original samples in this song in consultation with them.
Perry actually re-did the solo , you can spot the difference

Oh Larry, one song that that you might love is "Beautiful" by eminem. i mean theres lots of very good, deep meaningful songs. even his cheeky ones have a real meaning in there. hes a wordsmith after all and one of if not the best of all time
One my fave Eminem songs for sure

Definitely my favorite 👍
Absolutely! That song is indeed Beautiful!
I agree, I've listened to this song so many times
Agree with this entire post.
Steer clear of Fack though, lol
@@wiggyj5795 yeah was about to say the same thing

Also when you're looking up the artist try to find their actual channels. It will always have 30 to 50 million views. It may help to find the explicit versions. Can't wait to see you watch "Headlights"

Thank you for getting to this song!! As a 90s kid from Detroit, I grew up on Em and while it is nearly impossible to pick one song of his as my favorite, this one would be right at the top of the list! Helped me through some hard times! I get choked up during the 3rd verse nearly every time

You’ll never find an uncensored version of music videos unless you specifically see the word “uncensored“ in the title of the video (but that is very unlikely to find). The OP is right that lyrics-only videos will be much more likely to have uncensored songs.

I am SO looking forward to see more Eminem content on this channel! Not only these important songs with Real messages, but also those dark comedy/twisted stories. As long as you start each song with an open mind and know that he only proves his genius in each song you will certainly appreciate each single bar of each single song.

'Til they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe
We're nothin' to you, but we're the fuckin' shit in their eyes"
If you dive further into Eminem's discography, I think you should check out The Way I Am and Not Afraid. Two songs from completely different eras of his life but they both really define who he was at the time.
Totally agree, especially on the bars. I absolutely love those bars, and the 4 preceding ones as well
"That's why we sing for these kids who don't have a thing

Those 8 bars are the reason why this song is as powerful and deep as it is. Absolutely genius.

That's the thing with Eminem. You can't just turn the song off part way through because almost always his last verse is his best one

- Careful what you wish for
- like toy soldier (about beef that went to far in rap)
- Lose yourself (one of his best, if not best songs in general in my Opinion)
there are plenty more, these are just the first few that came to mind when I thought about "deeper" songs
And if you're interested in Eminems raw skill in terms of writing and rapping, also just a few that come to my Mind right away:
- Rap God (Self explenatory I think, he used to hold the record for the fastest rap in a song with this)
- Godzilla (He beat his own record with this song)

Bro, you're like me man, I love those songs, and a lot of them(his song general) are really underrated

Yep this one ☝️
Even in the D12 days he had both sides... that was the whole idea behind Dirty Dozen in the first place...6 artists each with 2 sides to them
Right now I'm going through some really hard thing at least for me struggling to finish school and find the school fee and feeling like I'm drawing for a future but finding back Eminem...
I can’t wait to see you react to slim shady 😂 you’ll HAVE to find the uncensored version!!!!
It's so cool to see these songs that meant so much to me as a kid, experienced for the first time by a good dude who appreciates good music. So grateful to have found this channel.
Thank you Kevin!
i really enjoy your reaction to the eminems songs.
Patti
Thanks again, Patti! Hope you're doing well!
@@larryshair My pleasure 🙏
Thanks so much!
1 dark Eminem song you need to listen to is “darkness”. Such an eye opener and relevant to today’s world and USA issues
Agree
He did, it was copyright blocked, so he never posted it.
@@erod4643 Ohh, that's a shame :( Thank you.
I love your reactions man please keep going and do more 👌👍
So happy u came back with more eminem.
Much respect! Been watching your Eminem reactions for a while now and I love the way u are opening yourself up to something outside of your comfort zone and watching you realize what most of us already know, which is, em is a genius. Absolutely love it!
Thanks Heather! You are so very kind!
I Appreciate you and your ability to experience different types of music without being pre-programmed to automatically dislike and judge them. Keep it real my fellow youtube human being.
Thanks MM!
I’m so happy for Em and him getting chosen for hall of fame. He looks so much healthier now than he ever has. He’s got his music, people that support him, his restaurant, I hope he keeps doing him.
Jackass Forever was great man, thanks for getting the crew back together one last time! Also, good video, keep the Eminem stuff comin!
lol, you're too funny! I don't see the likeness between me and Jonny, but you're not the first to mention it. Weird!
You’re one of the coolest dudes on this earth, love your content. Keep them coming
Wow, thanks Matthew! You're pretty cool, too!
Definitely a goosebumps festival going on here
You could ask your son to send you links to uncensored versions:) so you don't spoil the fun but also use the right ones
as a poc a lot of us love em cuz he rocked with our culture and has always been in support because those were his friends growing up, thats not to say that he didnt get hate from both minorities and white people alike. Its just recognizing talent as it is. he was up lifted by a black producer and then turned around and helped a lot of other people make careers in rap and hip hop, and he'll always be one of my favorite artists.
Yes it annoys me when people who don't know his story claim he's mimicking black people it's actually ridiculous
Thank you!
Thanks so much! You sound like a really cool mom!
Starting at the very beginning is usually best, helps to understand the evolution of him. 🙌
Wow! I got a like from Larry AND I made highlighted comment! I'm pumped lol. Ty ty again Larry! #respect (PLEASE do the Eminem - DARKNESS review? I gave the right link for you and told you to not see the warning in the first 5 seconds of the video, etc etc. I explained it in detail on another comment. "I know you got my last two comments, I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect" lol. But for real, once you do it, you will get a WHOLE new level of understanding about Em's drive, why he does it how he does, and no joke, that reaction video will very likely be your most viewed. And it will...well, I'll just say... hey, no joke, you'll be SO glad you covered it, and the emotional ride will be so much different than what you were imagining during the video and song. Have a blast brother and THANK YOU again for allowing us in on your journey. You ARE a REAL one bro, and that's a compliment, just ask your son lol. @Larryshair)
#itsokaytonotbeokay HERE IS THE CORRECT VIDEO FOR THE FOLLWING REQUEST. ruclips.net/video/RHQC4fAhcbU/видео.html MAKE SURE to NOT see the warning on screen during the first 5 seconds, THIS IS A MUST. I PROMISE, you will NEVER react to anything else like you will to EMINEM - DARKNESS . So much to say, lyrical genius, DEEP, an insane ride that we ALL NEED to experience. It's an emotional ride that you will NEVER be able to predict the ending to (See important info needed to react at bottom of this request). In advance, thank you brother Larry, and as well, your welcome. You'll understand, I promise. 🙏🙏 #itsokaytonotbeokay FYI, You'll want the unedited/explicit official video version. But MOST importantly for this video, you HAVE TO NOT SEE THE WARNING in the first 5 seconds of this video. Just have your son cue it up right after the warning closes? It will make sense afterward and no joke, buckle up. This one is THE one. Nothing but #respect brother Larry!
Edit: i really want you to react to the funny songs of Eminem aswell! Like «the real slim shady» or «without me»
I think you would have a really good laugh and understand Em’s twisted humour 😂
Thanks you so very much for your kind words!
Great reaction!! Love it..forgot over time how deep the last verse is..wow
Not even a big rap fan but know a good amount, no other artist wears their heart on their sleeve in their music like Eminem, not a single one
It’s truly incredible
Your reviews are so real coming from another generation it's refreshing to see the appreciation for a new artist essentially making a new song from a classic done right
He’s a lyrical genius! I can’t say it enough! He can rap and flow to anything at any speed or any cadence. And his story telling and word play is second to NONE
I woudlnt say so. He is one of the best to do it but many names you forget or dont know from 80/90s rap who are on par with Em
Will wait for your next Eminem reactions
Suggestions : White America, Mosh, Darkness. I can recommend you more from Em's catalogue but it can wait 😉
I always get chills when I hear the song, even after having heard it a million times
You are absolutely right about changing the realness of the track!!!! You good bro!!!👌🏽
YESSSSS!!!
One day at a time ♥️
@@iamangee Thank you 🙏🏻❤️
Surprisingly good... Thanks I would have never listened to or understood so much of this one! New fan.
This is the best reaction video I’ve seen of this song, you really grasped the cadence and meaning behind the lyrics. Thank you for this
Thanks so much!
It's okay if you're not into the shock value stuff, fortunately there's still a lot of "serious" songs from him you can listen to. :)
But I guess based on overall output NF is going to be more your cup of tea, he *always* raps about life and serious stuff. :D
Em's Slim Shady side is prevalent throughout his entire career, so his newer albums still has shock value stuff, horrorcore, pissing people off and the like. :)
Oh, and official music videos are always going to be censored.
I also recommend Eminem - Headlights
ruclips.net/video/7bDLIV96LD4/видео.html
Headlights only makes sense with listening to cleaning out my closet first, though
@@SerNaseweis That's a very good point, would make a good 2 parter.
@@forestcondon Great idea :D
the darker songs are often the most lyrical
Anth - Let it Go
Anth - Selfish (the two almost go hand in hand)
Jon Connor - Someone Like Me
When people say Marshall saved their life, believe them. I am one. Cathartic. I swear....❤
So glad you fund someone to help relate to. He's quite a great guy!
But NOT the “official video” of Without Me lolz
You want to see Eminem's gangsta side, you need to hear the songs where he disses artist for disrespecting his daughter. For example, the song Go To Sleep.
Definitely without me
The song Insane is a perfect example.
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it
Squeeze it and hold it 'cause we consider these minutes golden
You say he will never see it, but I wouldn't be so sure. He talks about reactors to music and talks about going down the rabbit hole of RUclips himself sometimes. He's actually responded to a couple reactors on Twitter as well. **edit** ... responding to the end conversation, Eminems mom was like my dad. Roles were reversed but I felt everything he was going through when he first came out, because I was going through it. I don't think you've dove into the stuff about his mom yet though.
Glad I found this channel, this guy is a real one and props to his son 👏
Thanks Jazz!!
@@larryshair, you are very welcome sir, much love
Eminem is so awesome that blew him away and hes not even paying attention to the craftsman he is with the rhymes and flow...
Your videos reached France, been there because of Eminem’s clip reactions, keep goin, love it! 🇫🇷🤝
Thanks so much!
Beautiful would be another Eminem song I think you'd really love
I was thinking the same. Definitely need this one
He and you both have the purest of hearts...loved your reaction.
Thanks CK!
I love your reactions! Em is an artist
