Awh you guys!😢 Even though it's been a year, thanks so much for the positive advice and messages. I pray that you both find all the happiness in the world and much, much more. May you stay blessed.❤️❤️
It was actually his nephew Brody who committed suicide. In the letter he literally wrote the line "tell my family it's ok , I'm sorry", which adds another level of deepness, this one always gets me
Joyner explains in an interview somewhere out there on RUclips that he's never personally dealt with anyone or personally known anyone who has committed suicide and that he got the information and details he raps about in the song from fans writing to him about their problems with depression and dealings with family/friends who've committed suicide. It really goes to show how great an artist Joyner Lucas really is, never dealing with anything like this subject personally and yet still make everyone who listens feel like he has or make them feel like they have if they never had before. A shame this song didn't win a Grammy, cause let's all be honest... it should've.
Happy Birthday might be my favorite by Joyner Lucas. And it's so goddamn underrated! Almost no reactions to it. Even worse, most people don't get the message behind it and start right of the gate hating on Joyner for "lashing out" at a kid. Smh...
The survivors guilt verse is hard for me. I've been there losing several friends from high school to suicide and ODs from drugs. It's legit how I was everytime.
I'm not racist may be the "controversial" Joyner song, but this song reached into my chest as someone who has both suffered endlessly from depression and lost countless friends and family this way, ripped my heart out, and makes me cry every single time.
My first attempt when I was 12... destroyed not only me but my mother too who felt as helpless as I did. Unfortunately mental health can take a toll on anyone at any age. I am still here to tell my story but I know many who are not. Spent many years in institutions and many more attempts after that one. I still struggle but try my best to be here for those in my life. Thank you for reacting to this video, even though its from 4 years ago it was a good watch!
This video broke me down cause I realized I only live for other people cause was so scared of how my suicide attempt hurt them, not for myself. Hope we both one day do things cause we can stay focused on the beauty of life, not for others
i lost my older brother to suicide about 10 years ago. i remember my father waking me up and i was shocked. i didn't feel any sadness until about a week later. people who joke about suicide are the ones who have never witnessed it firsthand. it takes a part of you away. his name was Nickolas and he was an amazing person. just never talked to anyone about his issues and dealt with them on his own accord. if anything im more upset with him than sorry. but i forgive and still love him to this day. amazing reaction guys.
I'm am today years old that I heard this man.... I heard this and "it m not racist" in one day... So far he plays both sides mm and I've been crying for ABSOLUTLY 4 hrs. I am getting one day tough love therapy... New to you two and new to cry it out therapy! 😁😭😭😭😭😁
I’m someone who grew up in a shit place I’m New York, this song made me cry a lot. Thank you for making this video and showing me I’m not alone, other ppl feel the same. Respect and love
I don’t know if y’all will se this but this is about his cousin who killed hisself his name was Brodie and the chorus how he’s saying tell his family he’s ok I’m sorry was in brodies actually suicide letter this hits way to close to home man
I’m Sorry” is an emotional track describing a friend of Joyner’s who took his own life and Joyner’s responsive emotions to this tragedy. The first verse is a letter written from the perspective of Joyner’s friend before taking his own life while the second verse is written from Joyner’s perspective; detailing his thoughts towards the friend’s suicide.
It was his cousin....his u come was the pastor in this video and the line "tell my family it's okay, I'm sorry" was taken directly from the suicide note
I had a buddy of to commit suicide he was trying to stop drinking this song makes me think of him.... he was a talented musician who had so much more work to do
You should watch his video "Long Way" Such a catchy song and video is intense! Also if you guys are interested in UK rappers with substance. Would you check out Akala- Fire in the booth pt. 1-4 . Hes a british rapper, activist, journalist, poet, and teaches seminars. Hes amazing. Knowledge bars that hypnotizes you lol.
Love the lyrical pieces. Maybe you guys could checkout Witt Lowry and start with Oxygin or Kindest Regards, some of his deeper music. Been binging your guys's reactions
I was 1 of 3!best friends. Now I’m here all alone. Both of my best friend used guns nd now aren’t here. Joyner is a messenger and e need to end him all the love
People who do this are trying to communicate how sad they feel in their life, it ls not how sad your life might be. Or how sad you think people with metal illness feel.😊
As a 43 year old man who was diagnosed with suicidal tendencies at age 12 I can tell u its a real thing. And it freaking sucks. Ur guys reactions r awesome though
Just found out a close friend of mine from middle school took her own life. We played volleyball and soccer together and she was a grade under me, she had only started highschool. She had her whole life ahead of her, and she was an amazing soul, you'd never think she'd do something like that. I feel guilty for not talking to her more.
Such a sad video Joyner is so talented able to play both sides of the story so well. And the 16.2 minutes is that why your video is 16 minutes and 22 seconds?
Sadly when you start this video to the end a person committed suicide R.I.P to that person and bless his soul I truly do hope every one calls that number I don’t wish this on anyone
You guys show the stereotypical "alpha male" image...and the fact yall reacted the way you did shows all of us men go through it, and relate to it. It's real out here. Stay strong fellas! Pain is temporary. Don't take the permanent solution out.
Men with beards feeling this makes me feel some type of way.... I wish I could be manly as you two.... I have PTSD and no beard lmfao it sounds stupid but I suffer from severe depression.... I have no one to talk to.... I'm stupid. Sorry.
‘There ain’t no reason a 9 year old should be suicidal’. Like no offence bro, I know what you’re trying to say, but you gotta be kidding. School children have regularly committed suicide because of bullying alone, let alone the other evils that can happen to children
I was suicidal since I was a kid too.
Mainly coz I was abused mentally, physically, emotionally.
But I'm glad to say, I'm doing better now. Thank God.
Please stay strong. Don't let them influence you . You are a strong person and you can defeat the negativity, I believe in you.

Wowwwwww....I never knew tthat. Smh. I've had family commit suicide and left notes...but I never read them
Just so you know Brodie means friend / brother. The guys name wasn't Brody nor was he Joyners nephew.
"Tell me what deaths like? It wasn't meant for u Brody"

Wronggggg
Thank you for reacting to this one. Joyner is so underrated. His older stuff is some of the best, but he still has a lot more to share.
p.s. "Happy Birthday" is another oldie but goodie.

@@iulia.bianca.b Agreed!! He's a brilliant storyteller and you have to watch til the end to understand. I adore him!
Still underrated till this day
The survivors guilt verse is hard for me. I've been there losing several friends from high school to suicide and ODs from drugs. It's legit how I was everytime.

Me either. Lost 3 friends to this a few years ago and I have the exact same feelings as the funeral verse about all 3 of them
People who do this are trying to communicate how sad they feel in their life, it ls not how sad your life might be. Or how sad you think people with metal illness feel.😊
This song actually has words of the suicide note his friend "brodie" left for him and his family.... (Make sure you tell my family it's ok, I'm sorry)
