Hi! My name is Leonie and I am a 23 year old girl who loves talking about books! From YA to non-fiction to classics, I read it all (although fantasy will always be my fave). I live in the Netherlands and go to university, but make booktube videos in my spare time :)

The Peter Pan review actually said "I don't recommend this book OR children". I can't tell if it was a typo or if that person really hates children
solid recommendation either way
The caterpillar character doesn’t develop? He literally TURNS INTO A BUTTERFLY!
SPOILERS!!
😂😂😂
😂
Hahshhhahshah
My favourite P&P review is still : “one star. Just a bunch of people going to other people’s houses.”
Mate I read one like: "Just some women tryna find the most agreeable guy" 😭😂😂😂😂 I dieddddd
@@LucyWucyywhich book was that for?
@@vellleity pride and Prejudice by jane austen
You look like Kim Possible mixed with Ginny Weasley and it's an aesthetic I could only hope to achieve
Low-key crushing on her lol
Oh my god that is so accurate
That's so brilliant 😂
Rozzy V wants to be her. Marteen E wants to date her. Can you do both?
@@Mecharnie_Dobbs No, but a gal can certainly wish
The person that wrote "I read over 10 books" reminded me that once, in a philosophy telegram chat a persona asked "how many books did you read in your life?" And the highest number was 30. I said "i never counted my book, but for sure more than 200" and the response was "impossible."
The average person is supposed to read around 12 books a year so even an older teenager has probably gotten to 200...
@@creatureoftheeast3331 you'd who suprised to hear how many peopele don't read books i my school. they only read when they have to, so like three books a year
@@never5618 Even if people are only reading what's assigned, how is it even possible to have read less than 30? Even if we leave elementary school out of the equation, assuming you read four books a year (two per semester) all through middle and high school, that's still 28 books. I feel like the vast majority of people have read more than 30 books in their life, even if they don't do it for fun often.
@@miriamb450 o sweet summer child. Do you really believe that people read these assigned books? Must be nice to live in such an honest world.
@@miriamb450tbf I barely remember what books I read in high school, and people probably don't count the plays and poetry collections they read. The only novel I can remember reading for high school is Of Mice and Men.
📖: pride and prejudice
📜: pride and prejudice if they just had sex
ahahaha
"Homoerotic nonsense" is exactly what I am looking for in my media.
homoerotic nonsense is my 5 star review
@Najawin Well, it's definitely recommended if you want to start reading Nietzsche's philosophy. It's extremely long though.
same tbh
YESS SAME HERE
yes Yes YES!!!
“If I read picture, I child?” IM SCREAMING
The fact that the Pride and Prejudice review said "just have a sex" made me giggle because I read it as just have one sex, one single sex. Just one. No more.
Who gets to have that sex, I wonder?
The worst goodreads review I ever saw called Anne Franks diary "boring" but he appreciated the "hot girl on girl action"
The fact that that was from a dude just makes that so much worse....
Maybe some people just shouldn't be allowed to write reviews like these
“Recommend for chicks”
Why was my first thought “chickens can’t read, why are you recommending it to them” 🤦🏻♀️😂
The only correct response
I guess the two stars for The Symposium are for
1. Homoerotic and
2. Nonsense
So the reviewer likes his book turn-offs to tag-team, and not just be gay or nonsensical.
I use to hate Romeo and Juliet too until I realised that it’s a tragedy because many people who hate Romeo and Juliet see it as a romance rather than a tragedy.
Killing yourself because of someone you knew only three days is definitely a tradgey
I have never considered this a romance - I still hate it. They're fucking stupid.
im pretty sure it was actually a comedy (their use of the word comedy) commenting on how stupid family feuding and teenage romance is
i dislike it because i find the age gap between the two weird and uncomfortable even though it was appropriate for the time it was written in and im aware of that (although the gap between paris and juliet was even worse)--its also the cause for "romeo and juliet laws" in many places which i definitively dont feel particularly comfortable with
other than that i can see both how it could be a comedy and a tragedy depending on how you look at it and also mercutio made the first half or so of the story bearable, so he was a win
@@lxckystars__ I think Shakespeare attended to make you feel uncomfortable with the age gap and the fact that they were just kids who didn’t know what love was yet
"Imagine being scared of the cat in the hat"
You clearly need to watch it's adaptation. It's the stuff of nightmares
8:57 I love that this aggressively optimistic reviewer was from 2013......because I cannot imagine living in 2021 and still be optimistic enough to think that George Orwell’s books are just “too unrealistic” or “too pessimistic”......
👁👄👁
based! what independent media do you use or recommend? :)
Pls make this a series!
Yes please!
That Little Women review was 100% percent written by Joey Tribiani
Lmao
Insert Joey meme here
The Little Women one reminds me of Joey (Friends) being convinced that it _was_ about little women
the bible being “not gay enough” is the best review ive ever seen
True
It isn’t gay enough though.
The person didn't lie tho lmao
But if it was about another religious book it would be disrespectful right..?
I don't see how disrespecting people's religious book is the best thing ever but okay
Leonie: "Grimm fairy tales....not child-friendly"
most European children from the 90s: *grew up on Grimm fairy tales about witches eating children*
😂😂😂😂
also we have a theme park literally built around Grimm (and more) fairy tales in the Netherlands
@@neroquin Very cooll!!! Would like to visit one day
This reminds me of my favorite thing to do after finishing a book: reading one star reviews on goodreads! It is always hilarious even if you love the book😎
I hate that I sometimes can't tell whether a review is meant as a parody or for real 😭
But love the idea, this would make a great series if you wanna do more!
Child: *Good for small kids but boring for adults*
I bet he's gonna read 50 shades of grey next.
Love your interpretation of the 5-second rule, girl has to wait 5 seconds before chasing the ex instead of having 5 seconds to call dibs on em
The person who wrote the 1 star review for Hobbit dubbing it "not fantasy" their name is Petunia... Dursley???
That's what I thought as well lol
"Not Gay enough"
I choked .
seeing you react to Chandler's review about Midnight Sun brought me as much joy as when I saw her initially post it 😂
2 years late but I'm pretty sure the "neutral government organizations" being referred to are the Wizards and the kingdom of Rohan. Saruman was known as Saruman the White and held in pretty high esteem as a wizard but was secretly working for Sauron and building the Uruk'Hai army. Meanwhile Wormtongue was Rohan's King (Theodan's) chief advisor and also under the sway of Sauron, leading to near total kingdom collapse. Both factions had remained neutral so far as direct involvement against Sauron's armies.
Hope this helps :-)
"Don't mind me, just thinking about a book that I cannot read" I found this really interesting sounding book on Goodreads today which sounded right up my alley, it's got aspec representation, it's got lawyers, it's got hot demons, the only problem? It's in German, a language which I can barely speak. Definitely feel that quote.
waiwaitwait what was it called?👀
maybe there’s an english translation!
@@lucikka3674 Sorry, I never saw the notification for this, but it was Die A-Karte by Carmilla DeWinter!
YT recommended me this video and I can’t stop laughing! 5 stars to you Leonie, your comments were 🔥 😂
"but I big brain adult" 😂😂😂
the first one is from friends. joey said it
This is the cutest, most heart warming video I didn't even know I needed haha
"I'm just going to set a 10 second timer on the laser cannon. Goodbyeee cruel wourl .."
PFZZZZTTTTT
"I might need a bigger fuse."
I remember this review that said they were disappointed with Old Man and the Sea because there was too much fish :P
It's so funny that you mentioned Jurassic Park at 5:00 because that was one of the books on my TBR list that I just read last month. Since I can't go to the library and since I can't go to the bookstore, I've been going through the books I already have at home and reading the ones I haven't read yet. One of them was that book. Surprisingly, it was a very entertaining and engaging read, more action packed than the movie. It did a great job explaining the scientific theory of chaos theory and other relevant principles that are discussed in the story. I will say, though, that the author, who has since died, was a climate change denier and he alludes to his views on this in the book when discussing the last ice age. Not exactly great, but if you can overlook that, it's a thoroughly enjoyable read. I'm currently reading The Lost World, the sequel, now since I liked the first book so much. Just thought you'd be curious to hear about this. Hope your studies have been going well.
7:08 "Rick and Morty" and "high IQ" don't belong in the same sentence
😂
I’m so glad you put an ad break right after the jake paul book review because I truly needed that 10 seconds to process what the hell I just heard
Such a fun video idea!! Also you should make outfits inspired by books vid. Idk if you’ve already done that but I think it would be cool since you’re style is so lovely
One of my favorite reviews comes from my brother. He needed help on writing an essay about Hamlet. I asked if he read the play and he said: yeah, but when I got to Act V.....
7:17 damn it Luke was the one who triggered 2020
everything changed when the Luke nation attacked.
Manny really went in on a children's book. LOL... I remember buying this book for my daughter years ago...
this video was amazing, love it
thank youu
Your humor is absolutely the best thing ever😭😭
Well, you could say that person dissatisfyed with lack of little women in Little Women would be also disapointed that there are a lack of little women in hobbit also hmmm
"I love my book"
*1 star*
"Over my head or under my ass" LOL that saying alone
Incredible😂😂😂 so many of these made me literally laugh out loud
Omg the hunger games one makes me upsetttt, how could they completely miss the entire point of the book🤯
Am I the only one who was also scared of The Cat in the Hat because of the movie? 👀😅
All live-action adaptations of Dr. Seuss's books are horrifying. Micheal Myers's Cat in the Hat and Jim Carey's Grinch haunted me as a child.
@@booksvsmovies yes I was terrified of that grinch
I laughed the whole video ! good job miss, you got me subscribed
It's actually I don't recommend this OR children, but either way works.
This video is pure serotonin
I sit and think about many books I cannot read. That's my Wishlist.
I got really defensive when I heard bad reviews of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit lol
Wow this was so funny😂😂😂 the 1984 one was my fave, I wonder how the person writing this review is doing now🥲
5:33 everyone when the clock ticks the last second od 2020
friend please PLEASE make part 2, I need it
This video was really fun to watch! Thank you!
Oof, dodged that spoiler SO HARD, nothing but respect! (I won't say where, because that'd defeat the purpose of your artful solution!)
I thought the same thing!
That hunger games one drove me up a wall too
9:13 "why would someone imagine a future like this?" Idk, maybe because it's based on the past 🤔
lol that optimistic person obviously rather deny the present too than acknowledge anything, what a bliss of a life.
Not me finding out jurassic park is a book too from this video lol
These are like the travel reviews: Went to the pyramids, there was so much sand, they knew we was coming so you would think they'd have swept it up for us ONE STAR
Please make this a series!! I just subbed so I’m excited for more of your content you’re so funny!
this was really funny, people on goodreads are something else XD i think my favourites were about to all the boys i've loved before, star wars and that comment about waiting to have children to appreciate it more hahahaha
Pure gold 😂 That video was excatly what I needed
Hope you’ll read Stephen Hawking’s book soon 😏 It’s amazing. Don’t think I about it, just read it!
This was brilliant 😂
i’m so happy i know this twitter account exists now 😂 can’t wait for some peak content
I love your videos 🥰
Ohhhh this was absolutely funny. Please make more videos like this.
I LOVED this!!!! I hope you'll do more of this, I seriously couldn't stop laughing!
To be fair, the cat in the hat tells a story of a random stranger that enters a house and starts to break everything, plus it does not take no for an answer HAHAHAHAHA
I don't remember my reaction the first time I read it, but the second and third time i thought about this XD And i was pretty young XD
NO, hahaha, I thought you were going for the jugular: "Maybe what you're missing is a diaper and a bottle of milk BECAUSE YOU'RE A MANBABY/CRYBABY". Also thanks, this video is on the exakt level as I am right now. I needed the break.
off topic but i definitely see you as genya from shadow and bone
"What messed up Orwell?" In a word, Spain.
This was hilarious.🤣. Loved it. 👍❤️
I like the video and I also like your fancy pants ;) Where did you get those from? :)
monki!
I can't add pictures here but please go to "Anna and the French kiss" review section and you'll find much hilarity there.
I laughed soooo much while watching this video that its surreal
The cat in the hat is one of my greatest fears 😂 I would not make my worst enemy watch the live action movie
😂 also love your earrings
9:50 How dare you, Petunia. How dare you.
Very nice portrait of the English countryside, but romance intrusive…summary of actual English review of D H Lawrence, Lady Chatterly’s Lover.
That symposium review was RIGHT okay I love the symposium but if I see one more ancient greek guy who is just absolutely begging socrates to sleep with him I will LOSE my mind
Aww man, I need more videos like this. :D
I 've read Shakespeare's' Romeo & Juliet...
How would the reviewer describe the Familial Fighting between the Montague & Capulets ?
My new favourite RUclips❤️
4:10 Thanks for the bleep. I always appreciate that from a RUclipsr.
I really like your style of clothes
Make part two !!
lmao the one for pride and prejudice made me laugh so hard
I loved this 😂 😂
The one that proves the rule for me is Stardust. The book was so insanly boring but the movie was great.
10:54 this one was especially wild since COMIC is even in the title of the book!
9:40 YES!! YES! Amen!!! Thank GOD we have CHRISTmas xD
10/10 exactly the content I deserve, let's have more thank you
This is very funny Leonie!
here I am, alone on a saturday night, crying with laughter over a one star review of 1984
The Romeo and Juli- sorry Julet review screams “sci-fi retelling”
Homoerotic nonsense has a standard 3 star minimum worldwide 🙄
to be fair, Tinker Bell was kinda catty. Anyway, I very much needed a good laugh, which you gave without asking, so thank you very much. btw, I'm not 100% sure but maybe he meant Rohan?
