Great video! I did Hamburg Marathon in April this year and the runners' vibes were on point!! Fast route for my PB (wide flat German streets like Berlin) and Hamburg is so beautiful - lots of lake and riverside running! The crowd was unrelenting and the food and drink stations were frequent and well-stocked! We were able to stay centrally for a reasonable price and the Parkrun for the pre-race shake out was amazing! Only downside was right after the finish line, you're kind of stuck in a big warehouse building and have to walk through in a tight crowd and it felt a little claustrophobic and hard to get out! But would 100% recommend!
Amsterdam doesnt even come close when your talking about vibes. Apart from the road along the amstel and the park the scenery isnt that great Either... the finish at the Olympic stadium is nice. But the crowds in Rotterdam and finish are way better in my opinion. So dont think to much about your Rotterdam marathon, because its another cookie😂
I think Boston needs a mention in here. It is a small town race that has grown into a major. The history, the support from the community, the public holiday nature of it, the local support, the organization... Heartbreak Hill, Red Sox game at Fenway, Boylston Street, Copley Square. It deserves its own video, in my opinion. Good luck with your running, fun channel.
Great Video Nick, I would have included the Pre-Race vibes too - The Expo and the general city vibe, I know Cape Town was buzzing on the day before the race.
Love all your work, but have to say I’ve done Amsterdam twice now. Pancake flat. Had one of my 3 sub 3’s start and finish in the Olympic stadium. Great weekend and architecture.. and running village to pick up number. (As good as London.) Keep up the good work Boom shakala 👌🏻
I felt like London could be following much nicer route and the course is very narrow at places. Starting in Richmond Park, Chelsea, Kensington, would be much more interesting. Florence and Vienna is a MUCH prettier course.
Boston gets 10/10 on all counts from me. I know it’s not flat but it’s my current PB course - and I’ve run Berlin, London, Chicago and Manchester! The pre race vibes, the crowds ❤, everything about this marathon is just fantastic.
I really liked Hamburg Marathon. Even though i'm from Berlin, have done it 5 times and it's really great, i chose to run Hamburg again instead next year. Such a beautiful city, but i could be biased as i did my pb there. If you don't necessarily need a pb but like scenery i can recommend rome even though it has some quiter arears without much croud support.
until now i run 3 majors and Vienna and every race is highly recommended but London 2024 is no 1; NYC cheering is awesome but in London is on level of hysteria; everyone from staff and volunteers are very kind and helpful; maybe running culture, hubs, clubs came from US but Brits put it on higher level London > NYC> Chicago> Vienna…to be continued Greetings from Serbia 🇷🇸
@@justalilbester you've probably done it before, maybe 10 years ago, but now your base is much higher after all these years of training. Cool hearing from your perspective what it's like to run at these paces now.
London Marathon is the best! 💪 the crowds, the charity aspect, the scenery, the route, everything! New York was amazing, though. I'd throw Paris Marathon into the hat, absolutely loved it, and great for a PB. 🏃♂️👍
@justalilbester really? What's his name? Might find he's familiar! Zambia is relatively new to the running scene but the ABSA marathon is breaking records year by year! Boomshakalaka
Valencia is great but i would mark down due to access. Every year, the same runners as the previous year get automatic priory access for the following year. If you do manage to get a place you will be paying at the top end of the incremental entrance fee. Not everyone pays the same price
Great video...Sydney is a New Major ..very early start so problems with Toilets...😱😱💩 Scenic, iconic, great crowd support..👍 Well worth the considering
Amsterdam is my call out……pancake flat, good scenery, great crowd, an epic finish in the Olympic stadium and good after race vibe….a few narrow parts can slow you down and parts of the course are a bit quieter but overall its a must do and a great PB opportunity.
I had a really bad experience at Amsterdam this year. Too crowded in the sub 3 hour pack, no crowds from KM12-26, low elevation but was very aggressive (going over bridges and underpasses) I was excited but I’m defo not going to sign up again
Hamburg is good. Wasn't too crowded back when I did it, and got a PB. Unpopular opinion: I don't like London. Numerous different transport changes/hassle to get to the start (for most people living in London!) and the race is too big now.
From Türkiye with love dear Nick. I continue to watch and recommend it to my friends. My favorite is Valencia and my favorite athlete is Nich Bester :))) Have fun. 👋👋👋👍👍👍#nickbester

Athens Authentic Marathon is a must! Cologne and Amsterdam host insanely good marathons/hm, huge vibes
Athens is definitely on my list!! 🇬🇷
It’s a bit one next year for Amsterdam so I’m not writing that one off too 🇳🇱
Amsterdam 2025 is 50th anniversary. So potentially extra special

Just got the confirmation that I will be giving my Marathon debut next year in Berlin! Can't wait
Whaaaat that’s epic and congrats for getting in!! 🇩🇪 it’s a cracker!!

Saving that special one for my last marathon major 🦄 🫶🏻
I like how you highly rate drinks after all the Marathons. I imagine any drink after a Marathon feels amazing.
Work hard, play hard! That’s how we roll. Got to treat yourself post race, for the work you put in 🎉
Big man, you need to get yourself over to Australia and do Gold Coast!
I would add Houston in the USA - very flat & fast, popular too 👍
I ran Copenhagen and loved it!
Chicago is my favorite
It also seems quite cold there which I like. Definitely on my list in the future, thanks
Great Video Nick, I would have included the Pre-Race vibes too - The Expo and the general city vibe, I know Cape Town was buzzing on the day before the race.
Good point and so much to love about CT. Really hope it becomes a marathon major one day!

Amazing I’ll get it added to the list. I know next year will be a big one there too 👀
I'd love to run Capetown; maybe in a couple of years when it has major status
I felt like London could be following much nicer route and the course is very narrow at places. Starting in Richmond Park, Chelsea, Kensington, would be much more interesting. Florence and Vienna is a MUCH prettier course.
Oooo I like the sound of this 🤩 that could be a very cool route 🇬🇧
Nick "02:19:00" Bester, lets gooooo brother once again tyvm for the video.
Haha waited a couple of years to update the intro 😉

Berlin i LOVE IT!!!
Sevilha LOVE IT MORE (PB)!!!!
Valência Love!!!!
Barcelona, Roterdam , Vigo/Bayona
I feel like we all favour our PB marathon route slightly more 😉
London Marathon !!! 10/10 🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
My personal fav 🫶🏻 🇬🇧 ❤️
Dublin, Ireland is up there as one of the best I've ran.
Definitely added to the list 🇮🇪 still a lot I have to do. Thanks
I am making my marathon debut in Belgrade in April as a 18y old, aiming for 3:30.
I hope you can try Manila Marathon or Cebu Marathon in the Philippines soon ❤
Should try the Auckland marathon. Not the quickest or most competitive, but amazing scenery and atmosphere.
A great excuse to make a trip out of it too 🙌🏻
Cape Town is much quicker now. You must revisit next year.
Great! I’ll have to make a return soon 🤩

Greetings from Serbia 🇷🇸
Thanks for sharing 🇷🇸 👋
Would love to see you take on the challenge of running 6min/km pace. I bet slow running is an elite runner's weakness XD
It’s definitely harder for me to run 6 mins per in than 4 mins per km.

Couldn’t agree with you more mate!! 🎉
@justalilbester I'd highly recommend doing Paris one year 👍
Anyone should try out ABSA marathon in Zambia. The atmosphere is electric!
One of my best mates lives in Zambia. I better give it a try one day, thanks

Noted and thanks for letting us know
I soooo waiting to hear whether I've been successful in the lottery for Berlin right now that I can't concentrate. This is a great distraction!
Haha I have Berlin a solid 9/10!! Good luck!! 🤞🏻 🇩🇪
@@justalilbester It was not to be, unfortunately. At least I have a place for Manchester! PS thanks for the inspirational vids.
how do you guys like the Barcelona Marathon? :) I`ll run it this spring :))
I haven’t done it yet but I’ve heard good things!! Races in Spain 🇪🇸 can’t go wrong!
Great video...Sydney is a New Major ..very early start so problems with Toilets...😱😱💩
Scenic, iconic, great crowd support..👍
Well worth the considering
Yes for sure 🇦🇺 I’ve heard good things! But not exactly around the corner so I’ll make a nice family trip out of it
Bru, I know you are a family man now, but try and find an excuse to come to SE Asia to run a race, the runners vibes at most races are 11/10!
Okay I’ll try make a plan. And definitely bring my head cam along to we can showcase it nicely 🎉
@justalilbester AWE! When you do, let me know where and I'll try and join you!
Rotterdam a 8 out 10 holy f man i am sooo dissapointed, you are talking about our biggest love my brother.
But the way they get you pumped at the start line is unreal 🎉
Rotterdam, only 8😢. How?
Lisbon great city ❤❤❤❤

Boston marathon
Saving that for my last marathon major 🦄
Boston is THE marathon tho
100+ marathons in 11 years? You averaging 10 marathons a year?!
I did the bulk in my first few years of running when I trained for Comrades marathon
100 marathons??
Yeah the bulk of which were done in my early Comrades years. I’ve done about 17 or so ultras. But not many since moving across to the UK 8 years ago
@justalilbester wow
My favourite marathon is always the first one you do, whether it be a major or not.
Nothing quite like that first one!! Especially the last 10k 😵💫

Sending love 🫶🏻 🇹🇷 thanks and Valencia is most certainly on the cards for me next year 🔥
