I'm doing my first marathon at Chester in October; following your training plan. I'm 72 and your videos give me huge encouragement. Hope you heal quickly and have a Happy New Year
I did run the "popular" this year! It was my first race ever, after starting running at my 46 years old, and made it on 54:44 minutes, a PB for me, and I'm really happy.
wishing health in the new year! on 31-st i did my first race, also 10k but in barcelona, 42:09, thanks for the great content which i am sure helped me to get to this result
Hope your leg's ok. Thanks for showing what these events are like for a beginner like me. Really appreciate your shoe reviews as well and got myself a few pairs from your recommended lists. Cheers and here's to another amazing year!
Almost every town in Spain has a San Silvestre race on New Years Eve. it's our biggest running tradition of the year. Obviously, Madrid is the biggest.
I was there Ben! I'm a Madrileño hahaha. Nice race after the super slow first k, you started pretty far I think. I started ahead of you but then you caught me I think around 5k, the I died in the final 2k. Hoping to go under 3 hours on my 3rd marathon (first one since 2014) next February 16th. I've been watching all your videos, súper helpful and love your amazing spirit. Thanks and happy new year 🎉
Only your running videos give me goosebumps. From the warm-up to lining up at the starting line and all the way through until the end. So exciting. You are amazing at taking people through your journeys, whether with happy endings or unfortunate ones like today. Either way, we love them just the same. Wishing you a quick recovery and you and Sarah a great new year!
Ben, you should come to the "Sao Silvestre de Lisboa" in Portugal, we also have several cities with this "last of the year race". The Lisbon one had over 14.000 runners this year (which if we compare the country size vs Spain is very impressive in my opinion).
Wow, yes that is amazing. Really would love to visit Portugal soon as I've never been (only to Madeira) Thank you for all the information about the race!
It’s great for us to see how you respond to an injury when you’ve clearly made a hell of an effort onto be in this race… the headspace you’re in is damn strong to manage the calf with such equanimity.
What a magical time (of the day and the year) and place! It's great that we can virtually accompany you to amazing events like this from the comfort of our screens. I'm going to look for night races that aren't remote rural trails and see if I can come close to this amazing experience.
Well done Ben, great to see you running, buddy. I have had a 5-month injury only just getting back on it, and you are an inspiration. Keep at it, and Let's Get It Done ✔️
Great video Ben, thanks for all the amazing content over the past year! Hopefully the calf isn’t anything more sinister, look forward to seeing your next video!
Mindset could be, not suffering, but overcoming and learning. Gave it a red hot crack! well done. Rest recover and come back to it with wisdom ;-) I did a 10km race on New Years day here in NZ. After a 9 month recovery from a very serious injury, and retraining I couldnt beleive I came in 2nd. I had to actually start from scratch. Walking to the corner of my street, then more etc. Running was a no go. Therapy, retraining. Run/walking, hills etc. Calcified hip tendon that snapped and impingement. Overcoming it now. Dont push it hard :-)
Happy New Year to you and Sarah!!! Wishing you both the best for all adventures that are waiting to unfold in 2025!!!! For me, coming back from my Achilles injury is the biggest priority, and be able to run a Marathon in Fall. Wish me best!! Crossing my fingers
So glad to hear that it's not a major calf injury. Thanks for all your inspiring content over the course of the year. Just received one of your lovely running hats and looking forward to wearing it for my first half marathon in april. Getting it done week by week until then 😊
Awesome job Ben! You continue to motivate me with the effort that you give. Running a sub 40 as a distance runner is great. Hope to get there myself eventually. Rest up and take care of that calf.
I hope you start feeling better soon Ben! You were going so well! Congrats to you and Sarah for completing, looked like a great occasion. My plans are for half marathons in Kinvara and Achill (2 of the most gorgeous courses in ireland). March marathon in Barcelona, October in Chicago... and maybe qualify for the AGWC in New York.
I started running about half a year ago and your channel has helped me so much, in terms of choosing shoes, to techniques, happy new year, you are amazing!
I can only run a fraction of your speed, but you are still a great running inspiration. Thank you for your videos. 🎉 My plan this year is my third Indy Mini, and my second Marathon in the fall.
Thank you Ben & happy new year to you both. Thank you for recording it on video for everybody. You should consider running the Sydney City to Surf (C2S in Sydney, NSW, Australia) in August this year. I ran it last year (another PW) & there was 90,000 runners & walkers. There has been some pretty impressive finishing times over the years & the finish is at Bondi Beach. Known as the worlds biggest fun run. Kind regards Robert
I've always wanted to experience a city 2 surf and I guess Sydney is the most famous and biggest! Maybe one day. Might be in Sydney for the marathon this year.. will see if the ballot comes off. All the best for your running in 2025!
@BenParkes Thanks Ben! We met briefly at the London Expo - I was amazed at how much energy you still had on the Friday because 4/5 days of Expo "noise" must have been exhausting! I also know it can be tough when you've run "faster" times just a few years ago to not be back there. But nothing takes those away from you, nothing prevents you from achieving just as amazing things in future - BUT! Nobody gets to 96 in the nursing home and thinks "the best part of running was my Marathon PB" - just look at these cool races we get to do, places we get to see, people we get to run with and meet. Focus on that, embrace the hard times, and the fond memories will follow 🙏
Loving the footage from the new DJI 5 Pro. Defo notice an improvement in the low light and Madrid looks like an amazing city! Sorry to see the calf hurting so close to the finish, but that was an amazing effort Ben! 💪
That event is on my list, Benidorm has a half and 10k end of November will be doing it again this year, atmosphere at these events is on a different level, ❤
Impressive run. Amazing time. I hope that you recover soon. Many thanks for your videos - I look forward to seeing more. All the best for 2025. P.S. I am doing the London Marathon.
Love this race, done it half a dozen times, both the International and Popular. Couldn’t do it this year as visiting family. The hill in the Popular course is harder and longer than the International 😮I will be back there to run again
Oh no! Hope that calf is okay… please take care and wishing you the very best for 2025. Thank you for inspiring us …. Always look forward to your videos
Impressive run & happy new year to the both of you. Please consider doing the Two Oceans Marathon &/or the Comrades Marathon in South Africa. P.S. These are Ultra Marathons. All the best for 2025.
My first run of the year was a slow 10K yesterday. And I ran without a phone and AirPods for the first time. Enjoyed nature and could say hi to people on the road 👏🏻
Incredible way to ring in the new year. I've never heard of that race, definitely one I'll look out for! Hopefully you aren't sidelined too long with the calf
For the moment, I only have 1 thing planned for 2025 and it's coming up fast: Arc of Attrition 100M. After that, I will take my time to see what else I will be doing this year (another 1 of 2 smaller events). All the best wishes for 2025 for you and Sarah!
Love watching this, got a 10k Sunday myself - week 2 of marathon training though so my legs are feeling it even after first week just complete...not sure I'll be very speedy, contemplating just running it easy as part of my long run as I don't wanna write myself off for week 3... 😮 hope the calf heals up! I had this during my marathon....at mile 18... Had to walk jog the rest from 3h25pace to 3h47 finish.
Well done Ben & Sarah. I hope your calf worked out okay Ben. My plan for this year is Manchester marathon in April and have yet to pick a marathon for October, but maybe Frankfurt. I have just got your plan for sub 4 hours. I am visually impaired so.Sub 4 is my goal for now 😂.
It's a pleasure to have you running in Spain! Best wishes Ben. The Grinch😂🎄
Amazing run as the Grinch Sergio! 🙌 you overtook me on the final corner to be the fastest RUclipsr!! hopefully we can race again soon! 😀
Not saying the grinch had anything to do with it but all of a sudden your calf goes out and the grinch passes? A lil sus duncha think? 🧐
Thank you so much for the support in 2024! Me and Sarah are so excited for what we've got in store for 2025... let's go!!!
So excited! I just finished my first year of running, excited for what’s to come 😊
How's your calf?
Happy new year Ben and Sarah.
Casually featuring Pitufollow dressed as the grinch, who is one of the most (if not the most) important running content creators from Spain
I'm doing my first marathon at Chester in October; following your training plan. I'm 72 and your videos give me huge encouragement. Hope you heal quickly and have a Happy New Year
A marathon at 72 is asking for injuries, I'm afraid. But good luck.
Good luck! There are people doing ultra marathons at 72, so go there and make it happen.
Watch out for the hill at the end!
Best of luck!

Congratulations!! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! 🙌
Ah mate, how you kept your cool when your realised you were injured was sensational. What an inspiration
You’re such an inspiration man! Keeping it real and showing the struggles is amazing!
wishing health in the new year! on 31-st i did my first race, also 10k but in barcelona, 42:09, thanks for the great content which i am sure helped me to get to this result
Thanks
Omg a $5.24 donation
@DanielKendall2010bro I thought it was like $400+ 😂
@DanielKendall2010 The world is a bit more than the US. This could be more than your 100 USD, my son.
@DanielKendall2010how about you show how much more you can give big man. Go on

Almost every town in Spain has a San Silvestre race on New Years Eve. it's our biggest running tradition of the year. Obviously, Madrid is the biggest.
An amazing tradition! Beats sitting in a pub getting drunk......although I'm sure that happens after the race 😉
I was there Ben! I'm a Madrileño hahaha. Nice race after the super slow first k, you started pretty far I think. Yes that last 2km was tough!! Well done for your race and hope you get that sub 3 hours marathon in 2025!!
@BenParkes Thank you mate! And hoping that is not a great deal injury you had there :-)
Great time , unlucky to get a injury hope it doesn't stop running for long and you recover quickly

Thank you for all you and Sarah have done in 24. Hoping the calf isn't long term. All the very best for this coming year.
Well done you two. That does look an amazing one. All the best for best 2025
Great video Ben, thanks for all the amazing content over the past year! Hopefully the calf isn’t anything more sinister, look forward to seeing your next video!
What a great event! Hope your calf is healing. Happy New Year! Thank you for all your inspiring content.
Congrats Ben and Sarah. I’ve got a couple of ultras planned in April and June and would love to then try and get a sub 50 10k later in the year 🙏

It's 'just' a strain.. so won't be off for long. Good luck in April!! How exciting. Let us know how you get on!!
Your race videos and training series are totally the best. Hoping to see more of these in 2025
Awesome job Ben! You continue to motivate me with the effort that you give. Running a sub 40 as a distance runner is great. Hope to get there myself eventually. Rest up and take care of that calf.
