was lucky enough to be out there with you guys. the hardest part was watching everyone peel off and finish the half marathon and ive got to do it all again! got it done though!
I would be so much more nervous knowing that TRC and their whole community are going to be watching me. That might also be good motivation to really push my limits though 🤔
Hahaha! That was me. It was more like: smile, when you pass by I'll be looking at your butt. They say smiling helps your running so I wanted to make people smile...and it worked! Happy running everyone 😊
Wow, I'm so jealous, it looks like an amazing experience! I wanna run my first half marathon in Berlin, would be much more fun if I could listen to TRC ladies during the race 😅
What an excellent achievement! Well done, Jonah!! I'm currently on my half marathon plan on Runna for April, 6. At the moment, it feels very hard at times but I trust the process. I will be thrilled if my expected finishing time really is under 2 hours 🎉🎉 Thanks TRC team and team Runna!
Brilliant loved the video, good stuff Jonah. I enjoyed running the Malaga half as well, i started in the section just ahead of you all and didnt see yiu at the start or the finish!!. Hopefully I'll be back next time, maybe even for the full marathon!
I’ve run the Malaga half marathon every year since 2015 (apart from pandemic year) but the specific half in March, rather than the December combined. It’s amazing how flat it is, though the course here seems quite different. It’s so nice to be able to run in warm weather, without the excessive heat later in the year. Well done all.
Me and my friend ran the Malaga marathon as well and we saw Sara and Tom and it was amazing!!! If gave us an incredible boost and excitement thinking that our role model almost ahaha was running with us at least for the first half! So you had around you 19 people from the running channel community 😍 we didn’t know there was the shakeout run before so we couldn’t join but it was amazing to have a glimpse of Sara at the starting line! Thanks for your amazing videos!
I also have a goal of 2 hours for the HM. My problem is that while my 5k times are good (around 19mins) my endurance is terrible and my legs start screaming after about 15k. I guess the answer is I need to do lots more longer slower runs!
Yep the answer is longer easy runs. I'm surprised that you can't get sub-2 with a 19 minute 5K (which is a very very good time). Typically people who can run that can run 1:45 no problem. You'll get there!
A 19 min 5k is pretty close to a sub 40 10k which is about the same as a sub 1:30 HM. If you put the training miles in you'll have no problem at all running a sub 1:45 HM within a couple months.
With this 5k time it will not take much to achieve a sub 90 min half Marathon. I suggest that you do a longer run like 20k, but do 15k easy and then the last 5k in race pace. So your body learns to run fast on low energy levels. Also always incoporate fueling into your runs and after.
"Who would you like to pace you in a half marathon?" Tom, definitely. I think he'd be the most fun, and I know he'd be going through the same feelings as me.
Great video folks and that is 1 talented runner right there! As talented as Sarah and Jess are - think i'd be hunting ear plugs for that 2 hours or so 🙈 on a serious note wonder if you could ever take a small group on first half/full marathon
It's cool that he prepared well beforehand. I jumped into my first HM (1h42m) after 2,5 months of running. It still is one of my most memorable races so I hope this will be the case for him as well. There's so much to discover in and with running :).
I'm spanish I'm a runner and I love the channel you must be proud really really good content jejejeje Actually you make me wanna race again in 2025 jejejej
@runningchannel actually, I'll use your 5k workouts to prepare a sprint triathlon which it is one of my new year's resolutions I have. I'm looking forward to cross the line jeje
how do you run with a selfie stick and control the bounce?? I see a lot of channels with people recording while running and the stability is good. what product would you recommend?
Losing Jonah at the start! 😂😂 Well done on the achievement. Only sad that none of the pacers singing was included, I was told that Jonah heard a whole bunch of musical numbers on the route 😅
Another great video - well done - but there was a lack of jeopardy as a young fit lean young man was always going to finish a half marathon and I feel he left at least 10 minutes out there by in effect pacing Sarah. I imagine 1.30 is well within his capabilities. Still enjoyed watching it as always.
A young swimmer has decided to go on for his first half... Do we see him next on a bike channel doing his first 90k? I would love to see that. Well done, mate!
I want a dark humor king snarky runner they are pacing for these two balls of wnergy cheer leader. You know the guy the embraces the suck and projects it. Just think the two opposing personalities would be funny. They guy complaining these ladys are killing me. I dont want to play runner anymore type person.
I dont think he gave it his best, I bet there was 15 minutes faster in him. He looks as if he just woke up and not ran for 21.1k , he got the aerobic and tempo but he doesnt know how to push himself or what the struggle is. When I go for example after my PB in end I am almost unable to breathe or walk man it takes mental like crazy, he just looks like me when i finish my daily easy 10k run.
I know I love Jess for her endless energy and both her and Sarah being incessant chatterboxes but I'm not sure how I'd feel about spending two hours with them. Clearly I'm up for giving it a try but at the moment I'm being harangued to enter my first full marathon, which has never made the bucket list. A half has always just fine the idea of running for 4-5 hours hasn't been exciting this old boy.
@@runningchannelClose to where I live. Honestly, I like smaller events more anyway. It's a lot easier for preparation. But I get it, we're not all the same. 🙂
I wish I could do this. I've never liked running. I'm not a runner. I'm 58 years old and last November I started "training". I have gotten up to 5.5 miles and struggling with small aches and pains. I dont see myself making it the full 13.1. I have a HM on the calendar for March 2. Not sure I will make it. My last 5 mile run, I did it in 1:05 minutes. Great video here though. Congrats.
was lucky enough to be out there with you guys. the hardest part was watching everyone peel off and finish the half marathon and ive got to do it all again! got it done though!

It seemed to be great motivation for him! 😁
That little skip he did at the finish.. man was proud 👍 Well done 💪
He did so so well!
The true spirit of enjoyment, camaraderie and dreams being realised. A lovely watch. Thank you
Awesome Race! I think Jonah's preparation, approach, pacing and realistic goals were key to his success. I have no doubt a sub 1:55 HM is not far off.
Hahaha! That was me. It was more like: smile, when you pass by I'll be looking at your butt.
They say smiling helps your running so I wanted to make people smile...and it worked!
Happy running everyone 😊
Jonah did so well, was a great watch! I ran Màlaga in 2021 and really enjoyed seeing parts of the course. I recognised them all.
He really did amazingly!
Wow, I'm so jealous, it looks like an amazing experience! I wanna run my first half marathon in Berlin, would be much more fun if I could listen to TRC ladies during the race 😅
It's a beautiful course! We would really recommend it
What an excellent achievement! Well done, Jonah!!

Love the excitement you guys had finishing the race. Very cool!!!
Young fella was HAULING 😮😮. Well done sir, well done!!
Brilliant loved the video, good stuff Jonah. I enjoyed running the Malaga half as well, i started in the section just ahead of you all and didnt see yiu at the start or the finish!!. Hopefully I'll be back next time, maybe even for the full marathon!
Your video was a lot better than my GoPro footage, sadly it was a bit shaky as I didn't turn on the higher anti shake mode😂
Amazing!!! How Sarah managed to keep her sunglasses on her head while running....I would have lost them at some point!!
It's a skill!
What a legend!! Amazing work Jonah!!
Well done Jonah, that was amazing to watch!!
Ahhhh! I just signed up for my first 1/2 marathon!!! Chicago here I come!
Brilliant, well done Jonah! 👏
That was STUNNING. Well done to Jona.
Absolutely smashed it. Awesome performance!
You guys got me in Tears, great Race!! Under 2 HOURS!!! 🎉
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video! Would you consider running Malaga?
@ Yes buuuut I just started running 🫣 I am signed up for a 5K (Sacramento, CA) but hope to do a Half Marathon by the end of the year 🥳🏃🏾♀️💪🏾🏁
I cried at the end watching, becoming a big softie in my old age.
Woohoo!! 🎉 well done Jona!
“Fruit and a banana”?
Banana is a fruit!
I thought the same thing! 😂
Bananas are technically berries
And that's still fruit... @@v6i838
Pure Joy, I love this channel, great job to everyone🎉
Great job, Jonah!!🎉
Well done all! You guys make it look so easy! 🎉🎉
Really glad you enjoyed it! Have you got any half marathons lined up this year?
Well done mate
💪💪💪
Very relaxed running talking the entire time

Just starting my running journey, If I ever get to this point I’ll be so happy
You ca do it!! The key is consistent training!
Awesome! I wish if I get a chance I'll do the half marathon as well. Just finished my first 10k race last week, very good experience!👍😁👍

Very good result for a first HM runner

19 for me went with 1.27 off about 30mpw. I do remember sub 2 as the best feeling though. You've a fun couple of years of big half PBs coming.
Fantastic achievement, Jonah! Well done =D
How could he not do it with those two pacers either side! No chance of falling back.
Great Run!
"Who would you like to pace you in a half marathon?"
Tom, definitely. I think he'd be the most fun, and I know he'd be going through the same feelings as me.

Well done!!!! Wow!
Ran this marathon and had no idea you guys were there until I saw Jess’s strava. How weird!
It’s always tough deciding whether to go fast or go slowish to enjoy and soak it all in.
The constant race battle for all runners!
Pretty awesome video! I love you support and help you provided. It's nice to be part of a community who goes out of their way to help each other!

Just done my first one by myself at the weekend, so much fun but gosh what a wall at 18k! So pleased with a sub 2 hour though 🎉
Amazing! Congratulations!!
well done that man !!
He did so well!
Honestly, Jonah looks like he's ready to go for that second lap 🙂
the route is so pretty
It really is!
Imagine you're running your hardest race ever and Sarah is next to you saying "You're a man of few words" 😂
Just downloaded the Runna app after getting a new Garmin watch, training for a half marathon starts tomorrow!
Amazing!! Let us know how you get on!!
That’s fecking savage running
Is there any way of seeing what his plan looked like?
He has plenty in the tank.
1:57:58 is exactly my half marathon time, well done Jonah!
Great time!! Congratulations!
Well done🎉

Bro's gonna be a triathloner
That was amazing!!! Go Jonah 🙌🙌 Bought back so many memories of my very first LLHM in April - I’m with Jess, the emotions just flood through 😢❤
Thanks Sam! The first time you run a distance can be so so emotional!
My first marathon I plan on 2026: I want this team with me toooo 😊
Which one are you looking into?
@@runningchannel I was tempted by Loch Ness, but I've read is painfully hilly for a first one. Edinburgh or Newport are on my top list!
I was running as long i can remember

We use GoPro's rather than selfie sticks and would highly recommend them for vlogging!
Totally got Arrested Development vibes from that intro.
Hahaha
How close were you to Rick in the end?
VERY!!
Braaaavooo 🙂😃🙌
Rick spoiled the ending from the last podcast. 😂
hahaha oh Rick!
I have my first half in march… but I am 49 😢
Please be my hype girls for Loch Ness marathon next September 🙏🥰😅
We'll do our best!
Losing Jonah at the start! 😂😂
Well done on the achievement.
Only sad that none of the pacers singing was included, I was told that Jonah heard a whole bunch of musical numbers on the route 😅
Hahaha we wanted to save everyone else's ears
How they still talking running at that pace? That’s faster than I can even run..
Good stuff everyone 👍👍
Thank you!!

Nah when things get past mile im good cruising at 7:15 7:20 mile pace don't need to go faster
I'm in Spain, but without the S
Did you pick Jonna so you can see him due to his height 😂
hahaha
Would love someone from TRC to pace me to a sub 40 10k!
EDIT - Not yet though....need a few more weeks building back up post half lol.
I would pretty much hate it when other people are swarming and talking around me all the time...
