Callum is actually a very talented marathoner who finished 4th in successive world champs. Check out his second half comeback in the 2019 Doha world championships. It's even more amazing.
He's a bloody legend in Scotland so winning that race is no surprise too anyone that lives here... He won the Great Scottish run in Glasgow half mara just a few weeks ago....THE RUNNER you need too go Google some of these races you put up always making out their a surprise... 🏴🏴🏴🏴...x
And he showed how tough-minded he is in the 2018 Commonwealth Games marathon on the Gold Coast where he suffered badly from heat exhaustion, but struggled on gamely but dangerously, eventually with a DNF!
No one in that field should be surprised. Hawkins is the real deal. He is a fearless racer! If you've ever seen him race cross country against the Africans, you will know this. I love this guy!
His win wasn't a surprise. He is an Olympian, he finished 4th in marathon at the World Championships in Doha in 2019. He didn’t fly all the way to Japan for a fun run.
Callum Hawkins is indeed a talent. Perhaps he should focus more on the half marathon and 10km race for now. He is only always close to being on a marathon podium
That ‘random Scottish dude’ could have easily beaten 1 hour if he had focussed on the running rather than randomly waving at the spectators as he approached the finish line. Random kudos however.
Their 10k was in 28:28 (not 28 minutes). A triathlete named Morgan Pearson went through Valencia half first 10k in 28:24 and finished in 61:08. Yes, a triathlete. How well does Hawkins swim and run?
The number of great Scottish athletes is disproportionate to their population. I think it is because they are not only physically tough but mentally too.

Definitely deserved a medal in that race
