    Step 7:57 is vital, not only for the safety of losing a wheel, break disc's disperse a lot of heat into your alloy wheels and if that heat carnt escape past the powder coating you will be soon replacing your warped disc's.

    But no torque wrench on the lug nuts?

      abs. mandatory on modern cars !!

    • @joapps8135
      @joapps8135 4 года назад

      Most r not aware that incorrectly torqued lug nuts => warps rotors => steering wheel shakes when braking. BUT torque wrenches r sensitive to support hand placement (or lack of) wrt BOTH hands... keep free hand on socket head to support n maintain a consistent 90 degree angle (tests show how movement can affect the applied torque) and keep hand on grip at consistent spot (where u grab can dramatically affect torque...think leverage). also, if a lug nut is over tightened with your impact gun and then u finish off w the torque wrench as u did, the lug nut will of course be overtightened -- if it clicks without any turn, then do over.
      other critical tips:
      -do not loosen lugs ever with a torque wrench. use a normal socket wrench
      -completely loosen torque wrench to lowest torque setting and then tighten to highest setting 3X (yes, 3 times!) before each use
      -loosen torque wrench to lowest setting when storing
      -do not use cheap torque wrenches which can be inconsistent
      -chock wheels to minimize vehicle movement as u torque
      -tune torque wrench as recommended by mfgr
      -etc

    I don't get the 2 points on why to apply the powder on the hot wheel. To outgas the metal? That's fine, just let the wheel cool down afterwards and it will still be outgassed. And to see how much you put on? If i'm not mistaken you can get a mil guage for powder and even if not, a professional that does this all the time will know how much they put on. On a hot wheel you will lose some of that self levelling ability of the powder.

    • @johnreynolds2240
      @johnreynolds2240 5 лет назад +1

      1) it saves time, no waiting to cool down, less time to get back upto temp 2) powder primers can tend to get a smoother finish hot spraying
      Just be careful as you can get sags in powder if you not experienced enough

    • @John-dz5dv
      @John-dz5dv 5 лет назад

      You heat the wheel up because alloy is porrouse your taking out the dampness air and any gases if you let the wheel cool down you could then get the air dampness back in.
      If you do the wheel cold you would get pin holes where the air dampness gases are coming out.
