I am the creator of the 5th map. Please allow me to explain what's going on. Seven years ago I played CIV RFC DOC and posted the gameplay online on civfanatics. I created this map back then. The game tries to simulate human history, but at the same time is a game, so humans can changes things. In this game I played as Russia. The maps includes a lot of anachronisms. Each country has the map of their technology date, which does not necessarily corresponds to the in game date. So France and British Empire are post WWI, while Portugal is a little older. Also, the projection is Robinson. Great for gameplay, maximum land but it messes up with unfamiliar people.

I have played the game in 1:30. I cannot remember it's name, but it's really addictive. It is mobile, and the main reason it is like that is because it's a hexagon-based map. Your troops advance in it like in Civilization

The most unforgivable thing in that 3:30 map is the fact france is given its post Berlin conference (1880) African borders, but for whatever reason most of its coast is given to Portugal, which also gets Mozambique but not the entirety of angola

They literally built a game on the premise of the world war and can't even make a proper Earth with proper borders, it's almost as if its done on purpouse

1:30 That is from World Conqueror 4, a strategy game based, as you said, mainly during ww2. The thing is, that map is more or less only the "debrief" map (for the "free campaign" (aka you pick a country, and then take on all ememies). The map used for gameplay is more akin to what landmasses look irl, however theres still the fact that... America is basically right next to europe. The Campaign/Scenario map is also wayyyy more precise. Still pretty awful tho, but thats mainly due to it using hexagons for troop movement.

0:55 one of the singular biggest annoyances I see on *tons* of maps (and I'm talking like as common as omitting New Zealand) is totally butchering the Washington coastline. Like, sometimes they just delete the Kitsap peninsula and a bunch of the islands, sometimes they just completely ignore the Hood Canal and/or Puget Sound. But its almost always, always completely butchered and literally nobody ever seems to complain!

As someone who's played so many Easytech games (European War being my most played) it's either: a) Easytech intentionally makes their maps like that for their art aesthetic b) since Easytech's from China, it's prob because they lack the knowledge for it either way, their games are fun regardless
I think one of my favorite things about the U.S. map is both the lack of.. uh.. Flordia, but the weirdly accurate presence of the San Juan islands, grays harbor, and defined Olympic range in Washington, stuff that is always simplified from maps.

The funny thing about WC4’s map (the 3rd one from the mobile game) is that the other maps made by the developers are usually a bit better, European War 4 is probably one of the best mobile strategy game maps I’ve seen. The map from that mobile game is from a game called World Conqueror 3, i used to play it a ton when i was a kid. The devs are chinese, and the whole world is represented on the game map, but is heavily biased towards asia in terms of detail. My theory is since the map is hex based, they only had so many hexes so they had to squash and stretch to make things fit, and since they wanted it to be a pacific theater simulator, they paid more attention to asia.
World conqueror 4 has a terrible map, everyone in the fandom agrees. But things are looking up, European war 7 has somewhat a more decent map. Can't wait for world conqueror 5.

My theory is since the map is hex based, they only had so many hexes so they had to squash and stretch to make things fit, and since they wanted it to be a pacific theater simulator, they paid more attention to asia.
World conqueror 4 has a terrible map, everyone in the fandom agrees. But things are looking up, European war 7 has somewhat a more decent map. Can't wait for world conqueror 5.

Yes the map is pretty bad, but the game itself it actually great. Although its predecessor is better.
That mobile game is called Glory of Generals. It's actually pretty fun.
I played World Conqueror 3 in 1.30 is the 4th one maps r bad but its still fun and playing in 1939 Bulgaria and Japan is fun

4:30 My bet is that "sideways I" is meant to be a label for Paris. Not a 100% accurate location but that makes the most sense. Looks like they get each map from a different source and felt removing the labels would make them more uniform.

The game at 1:40 is from a mobile game series called "European Wars" By EasyTech. I'm not sure which in the series this is from, though.
To be fair, the A&A board game isn’t really focused around historical or geographic accuracy, it’s more of a wacky conquest game
