For those who are wondering why the display resolution is now FHD instead of 2K, I want to tell you what I heard from the developer. Sony has used 4K 21:9 displays until now. However, 4K content optimized for smartphones did not become as popular as Sony had assumed. Therefore, they choose to reduce the resolution, but there is a reason why Sony did not choose 2K. Much of the content you play on your phone is in FHD, and not much of it is optimized for 2K. Xperia is a smartphone from the creator's point of view. With few creators making 2K content, they felt that there was little merit in adopting a 2K display just to dare to compete with other companies. Quitting 4K has made the display significantly brighter than the 1 Ⅴ. Also, the battery life is superior to the iPhone 15pro max and Galaxy S24. I know this is disappointing for those who liked the 4K display, but I want you to know that it is not just a regression due to cost cutting, but also an evolution. Sorry if my translation is not correct and I didn't convey it well.
Can't agree with that. Watching a lot of youtube and movies from d+, amazon etc. It is a difference in that case. 😅 I prefer a crisp image over 3hours of longer usage ... 1080 p is a standard from 2014? 16?
I own it as Sony Xperia 1 V wiith 1TB of storage + Samsung S24 Ultra 1TB. Top notch of products. I also own Sony A95K 55", PS5. I just enjoy Sony products.
All of the people arguing about 4k and 1080p. Well i got my 1 VI now .. The new Xperia 1 VI has the new Sony Bravia AI screen. It's not just 1080p though, it switches to different contents which is actually stunning!!! If you guys still insist that it is the same as 1080p screen. Nope. there's a big difference between sony Bravia AI 1080P screen vs Samsung or LG 1080o screen.
Sony Ericsson W850i Walkman was my first phone and I loved every bit of it, excellent camera great sound and music. Phones were more of emotions than just a gadget those days. Good to see Sony is coming back after left behind several years in competition.
Sony were not joking around when they said they are going to bring the Bravia TV technologies. Look at the flower in the wallpaper, it looks like 3d like in Bravia TVs.

The fact that you already have the phone is a miracle by Sony standards for real. I really believe some of the criticisms are unfair even though I was also let down that they didn’t go with higher megapixel complimentary sensors given the competition but the tele-macro lens looks amazing. I’m waiting for the fall/winter for the newly rumored Sony Xperia Pro-C but I’m looking to see some great things come out of this phone.
All of my smartphones were iOS-Devices (ofcourse all of them had a Jailbreak running) but iam done with iOS/Apple. For the past 3 years i was looking around for android phones and the Xperia immediately caught my eye. And they have finally manages to keep the Xperia characteristics but make it a phone you can now recommend to everyone and not only to pros. So, for the first time in my life i preordered a device. I should get my hands on it in a week i guess.

I've been wanting an Xperia phone pretty much since they left my country back in 2015, and I'm just in love with this 1 VI, the form factor seems to be way more usable than the 21:9. I hate the fact that I would have to pay twice for it just in taxes to get it shipped to my country. I guess I'll have to stuck just to watch videos of it on RUclips since I can't really have it.
i sold the s24 ultra i like how the s24 operates but the cameras over process way to much i prefer sony over all the other phones but i do like vivo and xiaomi almost just as much

I remember last years Sony Xperia 1 V, it came a week earlier, yes 1 whole week, and yes your right about the screen, I’ve worked in optics 20+ years, the human eye won’t be able to determine the difference between 1080p & 4K (that’s mobile phone screen NOT a gigantic Sony Bravia TV screen) the screen is beautiful, Sony doesn’t produce crap & it wouldn’t put anything out on the market that’s inferior to a predecessor.
I also watched that icelandic guy video. Battery is more important to me as long as it's at least 1080p. The photos definitely look more detailed than my Xiaomi phone.
Ignore those spec yapper that say it's a bad screen because it's resolution, resolution doesn't make a good screen, just like how megapixel doesn't make a good camera.
Keen to see how long it will be before the quality control issues come up like finger print sensor failing etc. I’m keeping an eye on this phone…if there’s no quality control or software issues…I might get it.
I have the xperia 1v and a samsung tablet that has 720p screen. Doesnt bother me at all. I prefer lower resolution actually - more battery life. 1 v actually takes a whole day to drain as well. The only feature i want from the 1 vi is the macro and 48mm which was also on the 5v. Hopefully an update that lets me shoot 48mm

I'm really contemplating getting this phone 📱 for it's video quality. I was going to get the Xperia 1 V but since the VI is out, I would get this one. I have an S24 Ultra and the quality of it is okay and good only in some instances. The 8k video is the only thing going for it. But, you can't go wrong with a Sony. That is so funny that you are in Georgia as well! The bipolar weather of Georgia is something else sometimes 😆 But yes, I've taken videos with my S24 Ultra in Atlanta back in April, and I was impressed and not impressed. The video bobs to much and almost a jello effect whenever I pan with its built-in OIS. But, I'd be willing to get this smartphone unless I get a professional camera that can take 4k 120fps.

@@MobilePhotoObsession as I was looking at the bands, the reason that may be the case is that the lack of band 2 support means that it forces you onto band 41 which is faster. I'm sold on this phone now. I'll be getting one in the coming months!

A great phone if the screen wasn't 1080p. Have the 1 III now and switched from the S21+ cause the screen looks like ass. How does it compare to something like the S21-S23+? Is it more dense than those Samsung phones?
I'm Sony person, but what's the difference between Sony IV ,V VI, ,all the same looks, and little upgrade, plus google is installed, meaning ull be spied, watched etc, so no more phone that have google, - 🤷

As a very happy Pixel 8 Pro owner, as much as I can appreciate the smart AI features and performance Google puts into their phones I would definitely love to have a phone that brings awesome photos through actual hardware capabilities. If ever my finances allow for it I'd love a Sony phone.
You can see the difference of 4k if you had a picture open on the old Xperias and it switched to 4k - realistic sharpness improved a little at close distance. It's not going to matter for most daily use. Phone movie buffs may be disappointed in that aspect however the colours and brightness are still there (and better). Your 21:9 content is only going to be a millimetre or two less wide as the new phone is slightly shorter I think.
Sony offers a lot of what you really need in a smartphone like audio, camera, se card, battery,etc.)And when I say audio I mean that no other brand can even come close.The real problem with Sony is the price.Samsumg S24 plus is a product that sales and it is cheaper with a 2k screen and it is packed with features too.If the Xperia was like 1100 or 1200 euro/dollars it was a no contest.The 1080 wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either if it was in the price range.The PRO C is said to come this year witch will be a super device since the 1 VI is already fantastic but but the price of the PRO C will surely be ridiculous.

Have you had any issues with 1 VI? I just bought it and I'm experiencing already two:(. Something seems to be too loose within the phone, it just moves every time I move the phone - even lightly. The second is the noise generated by camera, and I don't mean the noise of changing the lenses, but this kind of "white noise" that last all the time while using camera app. A sound similar to catching radio waves by a speaker. Have you experienced anything close to these?
Since the previous Xperia operated at 1080p unless you were playing videos, it is not shocking that it would be difficult to tell the difference. I can 100% see the difference using a 6" 1440p and 6" 1080p screen. But I am nearsighted and use very fine text size with the phone less than 12" from my face.

I tried a display set and could not see pixels on the display. Tested a 4k youtube video with xperia 1v. The color difference is huge!!!

I have watched the good reviews from both the same icelandic guy and the Swedish guy with the Subaru.

it had very slow speeds on mintmobile but not Tmobile which is very weird because mint uses tmobile

if you like telephoto macro shots and extreme battery and better connection id say yes but only if you can sell your sony for a good chunk

I have sony Xperia 1ii and the selfie camera is the point i don't like because of the unnatural proportions it makes on my face. Huge forehead long nose etc... And if you are not exactly in the middle, forget about to look at least okay on the quick selfie. Does the Xperia vi does disproportional selfies as well? Thanks in advance 😊

@@MobilePhotoObsession as I was looking at the bands, the reason that may be the case is that the lack of band 2 support means that it forces you onto band 41 which is faster. I'm sold on this phone now. I'll be getting one in the coming months!
Can't wait to get mine soon. Sony has lot and powerful capabilities but I dint think they use all their power and knowledge I mean they made all great cameras and sensors. I believe next sony xperia 1 mrk 7 will be huge game changer

A great phone if the screen wasn't 1080p. Have the 1 III now and switched from the S21+ cause the screen looks like ass. How does it compare to something like the S21-S23+? Is it more dense than those Samsung phones?

As a very happy Pixel 8 Pro owner, as much as I can appreciate the smart AI features and performance Google puts into their phones I would definitely love to have a phone that brings awesome photos through actual hardware capabilities. If ever my finances allow for it I'd love a Sony phone.

It does. And Swifttronics has them.
You can see the difference of 4k if you had a picture open on the old Xperias and it switched to 4k - realistic sharpness improved a little at close distance. It's not going to matter for most daily use. Phone movie buffs may be disappointed in that aspect however the colours and brightness are still there (and better). Your 21:9 content is only going to be a millimetre or two less wide as the new phone is slightly shorter I think.

Sony offers a lot of what you really need in a smartphone like audio, camera, se card, battery,etc.)And when I say audio I mean that no other brand can even come close.The real problem with Sony is the price.Samsumg S24 plus is a product that sales and it is cheaper with a 2k screen and it is packed with features too.If the Xperia was like 1100 or 1200 euro/dollars it was a no contest.The 1080 wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either if it was in the price range.The PRO C is said to come this year witch will be a super device since the 1 VI is already fantastic but but the price of the PRO C will surely be ridiculous.

Have you had any issues with 1 VI? I just bought it and I'm experiencing already two:(. Something seems to be too loose within the phone, it just moves every time I move the phone - even lightly.
The second is the noise generated by camera, and I don't mean the noise of changing the lenses, but this kind of "white noise" that last all the time while using camera app. A sound similar to catching radio waves by a speaker.
Have you experienced anything close to these?

Since the previous Xperia operated at 1080p unless you were playing videos, it is not shocking that it would be difficult to tell the difference. I can 100% see the difference using a 6" 1440p and 6" 1080p screen. But I am nearsighted and use very fine text size with the phone less than 12" from my face.

Wait, so you're in the states and ordered it through the UK? I was told it doesn't have a majority of the bands for carriers in the US. What service do you have? I really didn't want to go without a Sony when my 1 III dies. I've been using only Sony since 2002. I'm spoiled by their UI. It's unlike any other phone.
I'm using it on Tmobile if you wanna check my other video out i posted after this i show it on Tmobile my house signal is little weaker cause its old but i get over 1k mbps on tmobile and so did my Sony xperia 1 V i got it from wondamobile not the uk i got the case coming from sony uk
