    I really thought the scene of the droids Luke has building the dwelling in Mandalorian episode? Look like they were inspired by the droid factory playset. Take a good look. They were an unexpected yet pleasant surprise to see and added even more depth to that scene, the show, and the entire Star Wars canon. Nice and different!⚡️

    Dewback is a creature not a figure or vehicle. Like Taun taun or the Rancor.

    You know how the boxes for the vehicles have photos of the product , sometimes with figures in the photos? Well I cut the figures out and I say THEY'RE figures! 😂
    To me a figure is of a character with a speaking part or, if a background character, shows an obvious culture and has at least some articulation.
    Who makes the rules for this? I dunno, nobody's able to tell me, it seems to be arbitrary so as far as I'm concerned, it's ME! 😂👍

    Great video. I agree with all these and more. I have always included any depictions of the denizens of the galaxy as part of the figure line. I don't rule out beasts, droids, inarticulation, how they were packaged, international versions, or variants. They all deserve a place in the line on the shelf with the primary figures, in my opinion. People can have their own views, of course. The video highlights how deserving these toys are when added with the line and I just think its limiting to exclude. Without getting into variants or international versions too much, I still think there is more than even this great list. I realize these are controversial for some fans married to just the carded figures, but feel the following should also be included: The orange, and brown snakes that came with Yoda. ...The partial R2-D2 figures (or R2 Units,) that came with the X-Wing AND battle damaged X-Wing fighters. They're fixed in place but still are supposed to be representing astromech droids. ...The overlooked Droid Factory droids. Aside from the 3 legged R2, the inserts provided precise images and names to assemble them; the Rollarc Droid, the Tracto Droid, the Quad-Pod Droid, and the Mechano Droid. Arguably, even the one the insert suggests in the image using all parts to build, the Monster Droid.... Then there is the crude Seeker Robot Droid Remote from the Millenium Falcon toy. Released only for the 1st film, I understand. While you can argue it's equipment, it did have enough AI to interact and has Droid or robot in the name. ... The wind up walking Artoo Detoo, sold in Canada and Japan. This in many ways is sculpted better than the primary release versions and is a perfect addition....The Ewok and Droid lines, inc. Vlix, which I know are not part of this movie specific list but still are in the galaxy of classic Star Wars toys....There are even more variations and international only versions of figures I won't get into but in my world they should be included in the line. Even though I don't have them all myself due to scarcity or price. I understand how one can argue against certain toys. Each fan may have their own view on what's included, and that's okay. I for example, love to add figures (pvcs, erasers, etc., that look like a figure and are in scale range,) yet know full well they arent part of line and that even Kenner may not have released them, but are still fun for me to pepper in the normal line. Ultimately, the others mentioned above and the Padawan's list all serve to really bolster and enhance, and add more excitement to the incredible original line we all know and love, and that is a worthwhile venture.

    Nice... this is the kind of topic we could debate for hours! Obviously if it didn't have a card back, how could it be an action figure? But the "blue snags" always comes to mind...or the carbonite Han. I remember when that Slave 1 came out and that accessory was a little too small but still it scratches that itch with the play value. So, if it gives you nostalgia, no one can change your mind...

    An excellent video Joey. I agree, if it's a living being (character, creature, or monster), it is a must-have to complete your figure collection. The Han Solo Carbonite block from the Slave 1 ship might just be an accessory if we're being honest, but it is supposed to be Han, so let's count it anyway. 😉
    I appreciate that you shared again what you paid along with the current market pricing. I always find that of interest & am happy you've added that for us.

    The dianoga monster is supposed to be a python snake like creature. Because Kenner didn't have anything to go on much, that's what they came up with 😂. Rebo Band is obviously action figures. Frozen Han Solo I always counted as a variation figure and R2-D2 droid factory. Salacious Crumb is also 👌The rest are creatures I suppose, but can squeeze them in with the figures displayed 😂👍 Thanks for video bro✊😎

    I'm not sure what to say about the carbonite block, on one hand you have an accessory that is not to scale with the other figures, but then you have an accessory that fits TO the figure (POTF Han).
    Wouldn't the carbonite Han accessory be more of an action figure than the Slave I accessory?
    Not only that, but the carbonite block that comes with Han Solo is molded to look like the figure.
    Either way, I would love to display the Slave I accessory with my figures. :)
    Peoples and characters:
    Action figures
    Jabba: action figure
    He's an alien character
    • Animals, beasts, and monsters:
    Beast figures/creatures
    • Tauntaun, rancor, dewback:
    Animals
    For me, the wampa is a tough one,
    is it an action figure, or is it a beast figure?
    My question is where does it end?
    Sure, all these are figures no matter if they're animals/beasts or characters/peoples.
    But does any of it have to do with size?
    If I consider the dianoga trash monster an action figure, which has NO articulation, but I don't consider the rancor and action figure ..
    DOES size matter?
    I've heard people argue that the Droid Factory R2 is not a figure, because you have to make it yourself.
    My argument is, what difference would it make as long as the outcome is an action figure?
    But as for the other Droid Factory droid pieces, those are accessories that can BECOME action figures.
    Thanks for the video

    Is it a figure or an "action" figure is the question that divides this topic. { want it all, so its not a question that divides me. With the big ones, you have to ask, is it a creature or a character? Define your collection, then answer the questions, then you have youe=r answer. Wait, is Yoda's snake a creature, a character or just an accessory?

When I was a kid and played with my Star Wars I actually used the R2 from Droid Factory instead of the actual carded figure. This is because of the 3rd leg and he really was a lot better for action scenes. I do have a question for you. Being a musician, I love my Rebo Band figures a lot. However, the clarinet from Droopy is missing and I use some other thing as a replacement. I have not found anywhere to find one, any suggestions where I might be able to find one? I think there is a distinction between what is an action figure and what might be a creature or monster.
    Take a line like Clash of the Titans. We all consider the 5POA people as figures but the Pegasus horse is an animal and the Kraken is a monster. those two are not action figures. Take Jurassic Park. The people are action figures and all the dinosaurs are just that -dinosaurs. not action figures.
    So therefore action figures seem to be what we classify as things with intelligence. So Jabba is an action figure. but the Taun Taun and Dewback are creatures or monsters. Much like a T-Rex is a dinosaur or monster and Pegasus is an animal -not action figure.
    Seems like intelligence draws the line between creature or action figure.

    • @Superawesomegeekshow
      @Superawesomegeekshow 10 месяцев назад

      another example is a mech suit. if a robot has intelligence like a Transformer (Bumblebee), it’s an action figure. but when a robotic thing doesn’t have its own intelligence and it requires a pilot -like a mech suit -then, it’s a vehicle. Like the giant mech in Halo. That’s a vehicle that comes with an action figure pilot and not a set with two action figures. The packaging says vehicle and figure, yet both the mech and the pilot have legs and arms that are articulated. And all Transformers say action figure. so it seems the distinction is intelligence.

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  10 месяцев назад +2

      Great explanation. But a creature can still be an action figure. If the wampa was 3.75 inch and carded we would still call it an action figure right?

    • @Superawesomegeekshow
      @Superawesomegeekshow 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@thepadawancollectorofficial maybe. I was thinking about him. I know Jabba is considered a figure and Crumb. I thought maybe Wampa is semi-intelligent so he would be a figure. much like toys of Bigfoot are considered action figures.

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  10 месяцев назад +1

      @Superawesomegeekshow totally. Yea I was on the fence about all of these except the blue snag, but hey might as well present them and include them and have collectors give their opinions. The more I think about what is an action figure and not I just think, we’ll the rancor IS a big figure. It even says it on the box. But yea the taun taun and dewback, that’s def arguable.

    • @Superawesomegeekshow
      @Superawesomegeekshow 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@thepadawancollectorofficial that’s interesting. I would have said the Rancor was a monster -like a dinosaur and categorized it as not an action figure. But if the box says action figure, then it’s an action figure.
      This is a good discussion. I’m sure people are all over the place on this topic. Different collectors feel differently about this, I’m sure.

    Trash monster - a prop, it’s not an action figure, there is no action to be had!
    Blue snaggletooth - it’s 100% and action figure, it cools great and has all the articulation
    Dewback - while I consider this one an action figure all the way, others may disagree,
    Droid built R2 D2 - yes I do consider this an action figure, it’s like a Mr. Potato head! And the other droids you can make in the set I also count, but the piece all separated. I don’t count
    Tauntaun - like dewback, this is an action figure, same with its other variant
    Probe bot - this is a hard one, I think a lot of action could be made with it, it’s more the power droid, and I don’t consider him an action figure, probe bot reminds me of a play set, cool design, great interaction, but not really like the others,
    Carbonated solo - no it’s not an action figure, even less than the trash monster, while I think it’s an awesome inclusion, just nothing to play with! It’s honestly equivalent to those card bored stands,
    Hoth Wampa - it has all the articulation as a normal figure, yeah I consider is an action figure
    Jabba the hut - yes indeed, it’s in my opinion a action figure, while others may consider it a prop, I think it’s a great toy
    Jabba’s little buddy - me personally I think it’s a prop, but I have no idea what people think about him
    Rancor monster - again, all the articulation as a normal action figure, it is an action figure
    Sy snootles and the rebo band - I actually don’t know, truly, it looks like a prop and Is great for that role, but they also are action figures, I don’t have an answer to this one
    And that’s it! It was super fun making this, and if you don’t agree with this, tell me! I would love you hear your opinion on these,

    My Star Wars collection will never be complete screw paying the money people want for a Blue Snaggletooth and a pop up lightsaber R2 or any last 17 for that matter I’m lucky to have most never would I buy those even if I won the lottery I couldn’t justify paying those prices for a action figure.

      @@thepadawancollectorofficial brilliant videos by the way entertaining and fun. It wasn’t a dig at you it was just my view in general of the prices for these figures.

      You never know what you might come across at flea markets or yard sales. Keep searching. It's possible. 😊
