I loved the video but I think you should rate them on the one season alone. You could revisit videos similar like these but they would have very different rankings
I have a few things to say about this: 1) You are comparing players from different eras. I am older than you and remember how different football was in the 90s, 00s, 2010s and 2020s. Players these days are protected to the nth degree. If you're saying KDB has more talent than Scholes, well, there's very little in it, but KDB has never won a Champions League despite playing in a superlative team. Scholes has two titles to his name and superstars regularly name him as the best midfielder they played against including some guy by the name of Zinedine Zidane. 2) Your comments on van Nistelrooy, one of my favourite players at the time, are questionable. Ruud was an out-an-out goal scorer, not a fantastic all-round footballer. Don't just take my word for it, take the word of his Manchester United teammates. Ruud wasn't close to being the best technical footballer or playmaker in the United squad, it was his single-mindedness and his ruthlessness in front of goal that set Ruud apart from the others 3) Alan Shearer is only 7th? You clearly don't remember the career of Alan Shearer. The guy was the best pure striker in the world, was the most expensive transfer in the world for a significant period of time, and never played in a dominant team. He also carried injuries and was targeted by defenders up and down the country. He could score goals that van Nistelrooy just couldn't score like blockbuster 30-yard strikes and free kicks. 4) Henry < Cristiano Ronaldo is highly debatable. Henry regularly gets voted as the best PL player of all time and while your criteria isn't based strictly on PL performances, I can't help but think if Thierry Henry was playing in the same era as CR7, even if their peaks were only a few years apart, that Henry would have run riot to an even greater extent than Ronaldo. Henry is the only player in history to score 20 + goals and make 20 + assists in the same season. He single-handedly destroyed top teams on occasion like Real Madrid I'll give you some praise though for your analysis of Michael Owen. I'm an Arsenal fan and nobody tortured us quite like Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler. They were even more of a nightmare than Didier Drogba and we actually had a good defence when Owen and Fowler were scoring hat-tricks or stealing FA Cups from us As far as young players go, the best 3 I've possibly ever seen are Owen, Rooney and R9, all 3 of whom could lay claim to being the best striker in the world before they were 20, and all 3 of whom had precipitous drops in their later career relative to their peaks, even if R9 and Rooney were still highly effective and sought-after players.
Ronaldo has one of the most decorated careers both in terms of club titles and individual awards, and is frequently featured in discussions about the greatest players of all time. As much as I think Thierry Henry was an awesome player, I can't see how he could have been placed ahead of Ronaldo.
@@soundscape26 @ScariaJohn - Ronaldo was an amazing player and one of the best. It's different eras though and different teams. Ronaldo played for Man United when he was in a front 3 with Rooney and Tevez, who papered over the deficiencies in Ronaldo's game. Ronaldo got the benefit of being in the best team with the best manager in Sir Alex. Ronaldo gets most of his praise from his time in Madrid when he was playing in the best team To claim CR7 is the GOAT is OTT in my opinion. Statistically he's not on the same level as Messi despite being 10 times as selfish as Messi. If Ronaldo was the GOAT he would have done what the GOATs have done - almost single-handedly won a world cup with an inferior team like Maradona and Messi, indeed, Maradona almost did it twice! A reminder if you care to Google it, Thierry Henry is regularly voted ahead of Ronaldo as the GOAT in the PL. We don't have a direct comparison with peak Henry vs peak Ronaldo at Madrid but we do have those comparisons in the PL and Henry comes out on top
@@Pax_Veritas Just a clarification on my part... I didn't claim Ronaldo is the GOAT, just that his name is included whenever people discuss this subject. I don't even like that distinction that much because it's very subjective and comprises players from different generations. When it comes to Alfie, and from many of his past videos, I think his all time top 5 is comprised of (in no particular order) Pelé, Messi, Maradona, Ronaldo and Di Stefano, so by default Ronaldo would always top this list since neither of the other 4 have ever played in the Premier League.
@@soundscape26 True that but Alfie is too young to have that list. I don't remember Pele or Di Stefano and it would be disingenuous for me to say Pele is the greatest player when I never saw him live, nor do I have a deep knowledge of his teammates and opponents I can accept your position and opinions as being perfectly reasonable and there is evidence to back up what you say. The other guy though is claiming Henry isn't fit to shine Ronaldo's boots!!
@@ScariaJohn Thierry Henry was a better all-round player than Ronaldo. Henry was athletically superior on the ground, a better leader, a better teammate, more loyal, better at set pieces and significantly better at creating chances for others. Ronaldo (tapnaldo) is more like van Nistelrooy with a jet pack, a goal-scorer with supreme aerial ability
the difference between VVD's 18/19 season and his other seasons at liverpool is massively overstated. the difference was that was Liverpool's best season in league & CL and the season where their midfield was most mobile and able to protect. VVD has been consistent at that level the season before and the season after, lost 20/21 to injury, then came back in and took liverpool to 3 finals. the only difference post-injury is he isn't scoring as many goals from corners, he definitely had less trust in his vertical leap in his first couple months back. but as someone who has seen every minute he's played at club level, he's been the same player throughout his lfc career but the midfield in front of him has wildly fluctuated in quality.
@@RS-zp1we yep they're absolutely hopeless without him. midtable before he arrived and midtable whenever he's injured. he's been the reason they've won one of each trophy
If the criteria is their overall career performance I think Gareth Bale is ranked a tad too high, but solid list overall. 25:09 - So, who's Alfie's second greatest player in the Premier League?
What ? Bale was quality from a young age at Tottenham, moved to Madrid, was still quality for a long period of time. He only really turned into a no longer world class player from the age of 30 onwards.
The only reason you ranked them in this odd way is coz you obviously didn’t watch the older premier league seasons. Should’ve just done it from when you started watching
As much as I appreciate defenders, they’re defenders for a reason, because they don’t have the technical footballing abilities to be a Midfielder or Forward.
It might be harder to be a world class forward than a world class defender; but if you want to build a winning club, 100% of the time you start with the world class defender.
Alfie - what do you know of Polish players? Historically we had few (only few, sadly) really great ones Maybe you would consider paying some attention to Poland or at least Eastern Europe?
VVD the best season by a CB? No chance, not even close VVD 18/19 Vidic 08/9 Goals conceded 20 16 Clean sheets 17 23 Tackles 34 62 Interceptions 39 71 Bocks 17 26 Clearances 183 360
They are completely different defenders. Vidic was a beast and a butcher. VVD is an organizer and better on the ball. Just look on the impact he made on Liverpool's defense.
Just don’t understand this ranking system. Are you ranking the players that have won it at one point in there career based on there overall careers? If so why? We all have a fair idea of a ranking of these players overall but it would be more interesting to see the seasons be ranked rather than the players
finally someone says Kompany was overrated. He was a good to great defender, but was far from the very best IMO. and was prone to a few mistakes and had only one season where I felt he was close to the highest tier
Kante is definitely an all time great …he may not be on table 1 with Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi & Modric. He mayyyy not even be on table 2 with the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Vieira, Pirlo, Scholes etc but he’s still defo an all time great
How and why Michael Owen is ahead of Vidic and VVP, I will never know. I honestly think you give Owen too much praise, and I also think you overrate him.
Top 3 Virgil van dijk won pfa player of the year and premier league player of the season Only defender to win uefa men player of the year Henry 20 goals and assists Two pfa player of the year And two player of the season Cristiano Ronaldo 42 goals in 07/08 Ballon dor pfa player of the year and premier league player of the season back to back
Almost all strikers that explode on the scene at 17 and play for a big club are burned out by 30 playing 50-60 games a season if not more with Micheal Owen, Eden Hazard and Wayne Rooney being excellent examples
And that’s just England u have Pato the first Ronaldo, bojan, Adriano, Ronaldhinio, Fernando Torres and Anelka had peaked by the age of 25 and it was all downhill from there Lukaku looks done at 30, Robihnio and Tevez were finished by then too but used past glorys to keep playing for good clubs
So although I can’t argue with the fact that this is your opinion I will put across that fact that you clearly hold goal scorers as more impactful than any other position for example Dias brought City to a whole new level making players around him better VVD helped Liverpool to a champions league win and a first premier league title, Vidic was just not human and very good without him people probably wouldn’t rate rio as high as they do.
I only have one complain about this list. If a player won it more than once, they should automatically go to the top. 4 people did this, so the top 4 should be them

I don't remember Pele or Di Stefano and it would be disingenuous for me to say Pele is the greatest player when I never saw him live, nor do I have a deep knowledge of his teammates and opponents
I can accept your position and opinions as being perfectly reasonable and there is evidence to back up what you say.
I think Jamie vardy should be higher because he was the won who helped a suffering Leicester city win the league that season
Your videos are great.
Shame about the two unskippable ads every 3 minutes though. They’re unwatchable at this point.
Make a video on the best player to ever play in the each of the tip 5 leagues
16:18 i dont recall hazard at liverpool
If there was an ad after you said 18th , Cristiano Ronaldo , people would have died lol .
the difference between VVD's 18/19 season and his other seasons at liverpool is massively overstated. the difference was that was Liverpool's best season in league & CL and the season where their midfield was most mobile and able to protect.
I think if you look at goals Liverpool conceids with and without VVD that should say all.
@@RS-zp1we yep they're absolutely hopeless without him. midtable before he arrived and midtable whenever he's injured. he's been the reason they've won one of each trophy
16:15 what did you smoke 🥴
At 16:17 you state how many goals Hazard has scored for Liverpool?
If the criteria is their overall career performance I think Gareth Bale is ranked a tad too high, but solid list overall.
25:09 - So, who's Alfie's second greatest player in the Premier League?
He won five Champions League trophies and was a third of perhaps the second most potent attacking trio, at least since the turn of the century.
Probs either Bergkamp, Cantona, Aguero or Kane given that he mentioned them all at the start of the video
Pretty sure he said in a different video that he thinks it's Roy Keane
@@ianosvelisko3820 For that specific position I think he would put Vieira ahead.
What ? Bale was quality from a young age at Tottenham, moved to Madrid, was still quality for a long period of time. He only really turned into a no longer world class player from the age of 30 onwards.
Kevin Phillips was the name I was thinking when opening the video. Then I was wondering who on earth Ruben Diaz was.
I feel so old now.
14:09 santiago munez defending ruud van nistelrooy.
23:35 hasn't Suarez scored more than 500 goals ?
great video. now do it again taking ONLY that season into account.
Learning lampard is a Tory is probably the most heartbroken I’ve been watching a RUclips video
Played for 2 oil clubs. It's hardly surprising
Statistically a lot of English footballers are going to be Tories
@@brianmckee2267how?
@@brianmckee2267 what's wrong with having different political opinions
I feel like I learn something else about Freddie Adu's career in every one of Alfie's videos.
The only reason you ranked them in this odd way is coz you obviously didn’t watch the older premier league seasons. Should’ve just done it from when you started watching
It's nonsensical to compare players of different positions, but if you're going to do it, stop the bias against defensive players
As much as I appreciate defenders, they’re defenders for a reason, because they don’t have the technical footballing abilities to be a Midfielder or Forward.
It might be harder to be a world class forward than a world class defender; but if you want to build a winning club, 100% of the time you start with the world class defender.
This is a premier league list, why tf are you rating Hazard based on his Madrid time?? Not to mention, he should’ve also won POTY in 16/17 and 18/19
He clearly stated the criteria he was going to use 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Great video, but please, can you do a video ranking the 100 greatest premier league players of all time?
Alfie - what do you know of Polish players? Historically we had few (only few, sadly) really great ones Maybe you would consider paying some attention to Poland or at least Eastern Europe?
You should rank every premier league season from worst to best. Would be a good watch
Pls do a ranking of the greatest Caribbean players to play in the premier league
Can’t believe you didn’t mention Owen won the ballon d’or also
Hazard was brilliant at Liverpool.
You actually talked more about Hazard during Salah's entry than you did about Salah lol
Woulda preferred you ranked their seasons, maybe you can do that someday
Bon appetit for everyone else who enjoys their meals watching Alfie’s videos!
Right. Now rank every player who didn't win player of the season.
VVD the best season by a CB? No chance, not even close
VVD 18/19 Vidic 08/9
Goals conceded
20 16
Clean sheets
17 23
Tackles
34 62
Interceptions
39 71
Bocks
17 26
Clearances
183 360
They are completely different defenders. Vidic was a beast and a butcher. VVD is an organizer and better on the ball. Just look on the impact he made on Liverpool's defense.
These stats don’t paint the whole picture…Vidic & VVD are different types of CBs and operate with completely different styles of defending.
Video would’ve been much more interesting if it was based on the individual seasons they won it tbh
Just don’t understand this ranking system. Are you ranking the players that have won it at one point in there career based on there overall careers? If so why? We all have a fair idea of a ranking of these players overall but it would be more interesting to see the seasons be ranked rather than the players
Erling Haaland will become the second player to win the award while their team get relegated😂😂😂😂
Day 6: Requesting 7 best players who never won PL/pfa player of the season
Guess he named those at the start: Bergkamp, Cantona, Aguero, Kane, Gerrard, Keane and Giggs. Now it's a matter of sort them out.
@@soundscape26 giggs, Bergkamp, cantona, and Gerrard have won pfa player of the year tho
@@afellownerd Oh right... I missed the pfa part.
Next HITC 7 vlog:How many more years to go before the EPL implodes like the Chinese SL.
16:16 rip :D
finally someone says Kompany was overrated. He was a good to great defender, but was far from the very best IMO. and was prone to a few mistakes and had only one season where I felt he was close to the highest tier
Kante is definitely an all time great …he may not be on table 1 with Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi & Modric. He mayyyy not even be on table 2 with the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Vieira, Pirlo, Scholes etc but he’s still defo an all time great
The Kante section got me smiling
Day 393: Indonesia XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them.
Keep dreaming bocah
I actually agree with Alfie this time, I would've probably put Suárez 2nd but I'm biased.
Hazard scored 179 goals in 285 games for Liverpool? I must have missed that lol!
Fun Fact - None of the "best" PL players won a Ballon Dor or Player of the Year from Fifa 🤣
Ronaldo?
Ronaldo
How and why Michael Owen is ahead of Vidic and VVP, I will never know. I honestly think you give Owen too much praise, and I also think you overrate him.
Apart from Rooney being a bit high, I pretty much agree with this list. Put Rooney below Bale and KDB and it is spot on.
16:34 pretty sure Salah was age 25/26
Rank every goal of the season
I still think Roy Keane in 98-99 was the best individual season any player has had in the prem. Criminal that he didn't win POTY. Not a Man U fan btw
I missed those years Hazard was scoring goals for Liverpool
Top 3
Virgil van dijk won pfa player of the year and premier league player of the season
Only defender to win uefa men player of the year
Henry
20 goals and assists
Two pfa player of the year
And two player of the season
Cristiano Ronaldo
42 goals in 07/08
Ballon dor pfa player of the year and premier league player of the season back to back
man dragged his name in the mud after that pun 🤣🤣🤣🤣funny as fuck
How come you don't have documentary about Vardy
Almost all strikers that explode on the scene at 17 and play for a big club are burned out by 30 playing 50-60 games a season if not more with Micheal Owen, Eden Hazard and Wayne Rooney being excellent examples
Add Robbie Fowler and Gareth Bale in there as well
And that’s just England u have Pato the first Ronaldo, bojan, Adriano, Ronaldhinio, Fernando Torres and Anelka had peaked by the age of 25 and it was all downhill from there Lukaku looks done at 30, Robihnio and Tevez were finished by then too but used past glorys to keep playing for good clubs
Which is the "Player Of The Season" award tha Scott Parker won ? Is that the writers or something ?
So although I can’t argue with the fact that this is your opinion I will put across that fact that you clearly hold goal scorers as more impactful than any other position for example
Dias brought City to a whole new level making players around him better
VVD helped Liverpool to a champions league win and a first premier league title, Vidic was just not human and very good without him people probably wouldn’t rate rio as high as they do.
I only have one complain about this list. If a player won it more than once, they should automatically go to the top. 4 people did this, so the top 4 should be them
