Donnarumma can become the world's best goalkeeper again if he can find a way out of PSG. He hasn't developed there. Unfortunately, no Italian team can afford him and the clubs that can in England and Spain already have their number one goalkeepers locked in for years to come.
Insane of Alfie to suggest that Eggestein didn't reach his potential or that he is not world class. No, I am not crazy, I am just a St. Pauli fan and hope for the Hull City treatment.
Some weeks ago I was going to the stadium with a friend of mine and we saw an ambulance going into the same direction. My friend stopped and said "hey we got to see Renato Sanches go to the Olimpico!" That's how it's going
In the case of Donnaruma, he has spent most of the last few seasons at a league that, while not as terrible as is often joked about, has seen a serious decline in quality in the last decade or so, as GK for the team that wins it almost every year. Not receiving that many real challenges from his leagues's rival attackers could be a reason for his development not quite reaching the highs he could have potentially reached. He's still really young for a GK so he should still have a chance to land a move to a more competitive league and become a lot better, but considering the kind of wages he's contracted to at PSG it seems difficult for most clubs to consider that kind of investment on that position, specially when there are many other fairly good and a few really good keepers that would be far more affordable, so there's also the possibility of him staying for 8-10 more years at Paris and never reaching that World Class level. It's not too different from Mbappe's case, sticking around as top goalscorer at League 1 instead of moving to a more challenging league, but on his case at least he has been able to challenge himself to a higher level through the National Team, reaching two world cup finals and with very realistic chances of winning or at least reaching other finals for both Euros and WCs for over a decade to come. Italy has been rather inconsistent on the international stage for most of Donnarumas career, and from the looks of it, they could continue to struggle on that front for many years, with a few good tournaments sprinkled here and there but also failing in more than a few.
He always chased money that why he left being Porto captain and Portugal intentional to join championship side wolves (hadn't been promoted yet). He's a money chaser

He never made it too many Injurys and not good enough for a big club. Yet to play over 30 games in a season for his whole career and even his best spell at Lille he never played more than 25 games in a season, he joined Roma and he's been injured for months
Think the problem with Donnarumma is that he is playing for a team that is dominating the league so much that he probably don't feel he needs to evolve and improve. If he joins another club who isn't farming the league and the difference between the teams are closer he would probably improve.
As a Milan fans, I agree that Donnarumma doesn't seem to develop his game. I don't follow his match since he departed from Milan but when I see him vs Milan weeks ago, he doesn't seem to improve much. Of course his shot stopping ability is still good but that's all.
