The Kip Up was brutal to learn...

  • The lying kip-up took many attempts to find the coordination needed to generate enough force to bring me to my feet. Now that it’s here, more questions arise: how does it connect to the whole? What’s the purpose?
I often find myself accumulating skills that lead to dead ends. I want what I don’t have, but once held, there’s a sense it’s no longer needed. Some bodily freedom unlocks, but it’s clear a deep-rooted conditioning drives me into these cul-de-sacs. Flashy skills offer the thrill of accomplishment, excitement, attention, and praise-all experiences I crave and have yet to let go of.
At the same time, we need skills to play the game. Without them, the vehicle for development is limited and we stick to our patterns without uncovering new territory. But if we are looking for lasting satisfaction through accumulating skills alone, we’re digging holes in the Sahara. We have to connect everything together or when the storms come or the winds blow, the sands of time will swallow them up. In my experience, these moments only point us back inward, to remembering the impermanence of all things, the greater whole, and the presence process. May we keep acquiring knowledge, but let us also taste wisdom.
    Much Love,
    David

I've found the kip-up to be particularly difficult. Takes a lot of time to learn how to coordinate everything to generate one smooth movement. Great work. Hoping to get mine soon as well!

Yes, I found it challenging but attainable with the right cues and enough curiosity. Thank you! I hope you get it too.
