What a fucking disaster. A canon darktide mission.
I honestly like the struggle. Feels like I'm playing out how it's supposed to fight as a reject against an ungodly amount of heretics.
This is the true darktide public matches experience. Note that whenever someone dies, the enemies spawn intensity increases. So, it is either the randoms are intentionally making Unc suffers or they are just babies.
this is legit like 60% of my experience, the only solace is i play with a friend so I am not alone.
I don't have any friends on darktide, lonely ogryn 😞
I feel you ; be the only one too angry to die meanwhile your teammates just keep dying again and again and seeing at least 8 differents players during a game. It's pretty hard especially if you are trying to finish 5 maelstroms without dying for the penance.
I swear the AI director spawns 20 packs of gunners just because there's an Ogryn on the team..
And I swear Ogryn has like no good weapons to deal with gunners specifically.
Hopefully updated ogryn weapons fixes this
@@Highlander1432 Play vet and have 3 ogryns in your team. Unless you have plasma rifle, your shots are 90% of the time blocked by the wall of ogryns.

That is why I always end up using the stubber with fire ult.
Defense is good but stuff keeps coming at you endlessly and if no one else in the group can actually stack up kills then you get overwhelmed pretty fast. Deleting bosses in seconds should be mandatory as an ogryn.
I have 212 hours of Darktide and I literally have not played any other class except for ogryn
Kidding, as of just now I have 213 hours of Darktide. 212 hours of ogryn and 1 hour of psyker. I think imma go back to ogryn
Ogryn is the best
Ogryn is my second character and I'm enjoying the playstyles. I'm playing gunlugger right now and with a pickaxe you can still hoardclear and deal amazing damage. I also tried the heavy hitter which is amazing at being a frontline for your team.

Whenever I see things going bad, one thing remains consistent in this game; Gunners are pinning you down and are a bigger threat than most other things in this game.

A good shieldgryn build in the right hands is incredebly strong and satisfying to just bully all the armored chaos heretics with.

Have my friendly rock of approval.
Imo slabshield is pretty underated, you can take on an entire horde of maulers and crushers with the right build and some skill.
I personally run a full tanking support + heavy attacks with bleed build, ogryns have a lot of buffs and perks relating to heavy attacks.
Also recommend the shotgun, its really good for killing specialists even at range and has a good amount of ammo.

The special of the shield where you go into fortress mode is what allows that, only specialists and monsters can knock out of it and you are invulnarable from hits to the front of the shield, you can get flanked tho.
But you can also speck into all the thougness and damage reduction stuff on heavy hits and the middle tree to become insanely tanky where you can brawl with monsters head on.
I have "brutal momentum" and "skullcrusher" as blessings with flak and carapace damage perks on the shield.
On the shotgun "surgical" can allow you to kill specialists at a distance with 1-2 shots, flak and maniac damage on this one because most gunners and specialists are either of those, and the shield has low damage against maniacs (ragers and mutants).
I sometimes also run the rumbler with "adhesive charge" blessing because its fun, good against ogryns and grouped up shooters further away. (But the shotgun is objectively better at least for shieldgryn with taunt)
As shieldgryn you have to pay special attention to gunners and specialists when you are brawling to make sure you dont get flanked, you are big and often at the front and so will often be the first targeted, your dodging skills have to be on point.
Learning to dodge and slide (sometimes between cover) to avoid taking unecessary shots is crucial.
You should only use the fortress mode (for an extended time) if there is a overwhelming amount of ranged fire coming in without cover for and your team (either for protection or aggro so your team can fight back), a monster messing you up or to block a overwhelming crusher horde in a choke.
I play on auric damnation which is very unforgiving to big ogryns at the front with all the gunners and specialists so if you are playing on other difficultiers then it will be less stressfull if you are still honing your skills, once you get the hang of it you can stagger and dance around hordes of crushers even on auric with it :D

Semi helpful ogryn tip as a slab shield master first heavy attack if your ogryn is the tallest possible when hit a bit above bulwaks can hit their head’s if their standing still and sometimes while they are running when facing the shield.
Its not reliable unless you test it a few times but it has saved me just by stunning them for a few seconds chasing you mixed in with hordes.

There are a million wrong choices a player can make at any given moment. The best players are the ones who chose the wrong choices the least.
you can use the shield’s special block to reposition as dodges charge while you’re using it. you can dodge slide and set it down again until your dodges are back up

Gods, that beast of nurgle...hate that monstrosity when I'm on my tank ogryn. It's the one thing I don't have an easy answer for (other than keep running away and shooting)

New player here, zealot main, this is literally everything that happens on Heresy or above. I'm having to out gun snipers, clear mobs, support the team with overshield and then solo plague Ogrins....like I feel like the devs spoiling other classes like veterans with absurd stats is partly to blame.
I'm Veteran main but only casual trying to get better.

@Highlander1432 other than maybe ogryn u have the highest starting health and toughness, access to an overshield ability, a perk that let's you start with more ammo than your teammates, suppression fire buff and reduced suppression fire towards you.

Sad. No happy ending.
Think about it this way, there's never gonna be a happy ending in 40k so It's very fitting in a very grim dark way. Just fighting it out until the last man falls.
