All blacks will be welcome in Ireland and the Irish have enormous respect for them and believe they are a team that can beat any team on any day. I think they were very close to beating SA if they had of won 1 game we would be all thinking very differently now.

Just my input on the Rieko/Sexton thing, I was in the military 40 years ago and the banter was harsh, and unlike todays rugby, punches were thrown, so I'm all for the banter and ribbing, O'Mahony's dig to Cane and Retallick's response to Pete spot on, but Rieko was out of line with Sexton, knowing it was his last game and no chance for revenge, it was 'below the belt' But hey, if Ireland win in November I think Rieko will get a bit of stick.

Sexton himself said he had no issues with Ioane’s sledging and was trying to explain why he had such a bad reaction to the ABs winning that QF. Sexton's memoir, like that of Brian O'Driscoll, is another petulant and unseemly squeal, dripping with bitterness towards the All Blacks, against whom too many players of Sexton's generation still nurse a severe inferiority complex despite the recent pattern of results slightly favoring the Irish. Those twin QF eliminations obviously still sting, and in the classically disappointing fashion of too many Irishmen, Johnny would rather play the victim and moan about a cheeky quip than rise above reflect on his long career with wisdom or insight. Irish-NZ dual citizen talking.

As an Irish man - as somebody said, you have to give it and take it. Sledging on the field during the game is part of high level competitive sport - you dish it out, you get it back. But I think the lack of class Ioane showed saying what he said AFTER a game to a player who was retiring (and like him or not, has played over 100 tests) showed zero class. Clearly hasn't the slightest regret either. The contrast with players like Ardie Savea who would tear your head off to win a ball during the game but show a lot of humility after the game is done - shows up Ioane a bit really. And btw, no bias cos Sexton has crossed the line himself a few times during his career and was a bit of temperamental f*cker himself, way too narky as a captain aswell. This is only all about hyping book sales anyway!

A new style of rugby? Oh you mean the "flat-footed, standing start, thump it up the middle then spin it wide and hope the outside backs can make something of it" structure familiar from Cantab club rugby. Yeah, bit of a case of "here's the new stuff, same as the old stuff", like the team selection and overall pattern of results.

My theory around TJ and Sam Cane's continueted selection is, Scott Robertson is deliberately picking them and making them integral to his current team in order to try and force the door open to international selection, which would allow him to bring his little protégé back from his cushy Japanese retirement gig. If true, it would be a classic case of putting short-term self-interest ahead of sound long-term thinking. In other words, classic Robertson.

This guy seemed good at first but pretty worrying at this stage the rubbish that's spouted. ABs isn't a dev team, who plays best gets picked.... well those things are contradictory in the way they implement them cos if the best guy playing was picked Lakai would have been the 7 first game.

Jason Ryan basically towing the line that these coaches (and James apparently) think win the battle instead of the war. While the Boks develop for 2027, we're obsessed with making sure we don't drop anyone from the 'leadership group', no matter how poorly they're playing, and now we're taking two who were horrible against the lowly Wallabies along as glorified moral support. What's TJ teaching the better performing 9's exactly? How to pass badly and mouth off to the Ref? Ratima, Sititi and Va'ai have been the standouts this year, and yet none would have gotten their chance if injuries hadn't happened. We seem obsessed with the same 'experienced' players who have been at the core of landmark losses for years now. Same players = same outcomes.
