    To the Bok supporters frustrated by the Breakdown’s silence on the Bok victory, please understand that most All Blacks fans don’t share the same views as the show. The Breakdown caters primarily to an older, inward-looking audience focused almost exclusively on the All Blacks, many of whom still consume the show via traditional TV rather than online. However, the average All Blacks supporter is quite different from the one portrayed on the show. So there’s no need to be upset. Shows like The ARP are a much better representation of the broader, rugby-loving audience in New Zealand.

    The biggest difference between The boks, the All blacks or any other team is the man the myth the legend Rassie. I don't think people always realize what this guy has done in the last 6 years to get the Boks where they are today. Forget what you see on tv. The behind the scenes work, that he has done when he was Director of Rugby to being the coach. You can ask anyone that knows him. This guy eat breaths and dream rugby every minute of every day. The depth Rassie is building is next level. The fact that more and more players are interchangeable withing the squad is what really excites me. He always used the cycles to prepare for the Webb Ellis regardless of results for the most part which allows him to make changes and blood, unearth and give them confidence to play like they belong. Its an amazing transition to witness as a South African. Coaching standards is definitely being uplifted here by his example.

    I know Toni Brown is a great coach, but springboks have always had good backs, we just always played a forward style game. Our players have always had the skill they just weren’t given creative freedom to use it u til now. He’s not the only reason the back line is opening up. It’s because the platform now laid by the forwards are allowing it.

    James Parsons is never neutral when it comes to Blues players .
    Eveytime Rieko or Finlay Christie's performances are called into question, he's the first pundit to defend them.
    He's forever promoting the case for Dalton Papali'i - who bar one great try vs England in 2022; has never had an outstanding game for the AB's - and the workmanlike Harry Plummer.
    His close ties with the Blues prevents him from offering an objective view.
    Contrast that with Bryn Hall, who isn't hesitant to critique underperforming Crusaders.

Some players can earn clause in their contracts where they can play overseas for a season or two but the jersey always brings these players back. The biggest difference? It's easy...the All Blacks are stuck in the past when selecting only home based players. How many great players are not eligible for selection?...this is now truly the professional era. Players play where it's best for them and their families, and so they should. Pick overseas based players and your pipeline is bigger, you have exposure to the URC, championship cup, etc, and most importantly, you pick your best players. Until the All Blacks do that, their player depth and quality will suffer, and they'll continue to play catch up.

    • @Hatunrumioc
      @Hatunrumioc 2 месяца назад +2

      We don't need any of the overseas players. Mounga maybe but he was never the answer anyway and the damage it would do to Super Rugby certainly isn't worth it for him.

    • @exb254
      @exb254 2 месяца назад

      @Hatunrumioc if you pick overseas based players, the transition would've been a lot smoother. Most of the overseas based All Blacks are at the end of their careers, but they could still add a lot in terms of experience and guidance to the newbies. You have Aaron Smith, Retallick, Mo'unga, Whitelock, Frizzell, and so on, who can add lots. Not to mention losing players to other countries like Ireland. Bundee Aki, JGP and Lowe would probably never have played for Ireland if they were eligible for All Blacks selection. Not to mention, if you pick overseas based players, there are more spots available for young players to play locally, and as a result, you have a bigger player pool to choose from. Over the last 8 years, over half of the players Rassie has picked for the Boks were playing abroad whilst being selected for the Boks. Without that option, the Boks would've struggled 💯...as a Springbok supporter, however, I hope the All Blacks never change their selection policy as it's better for us, but as a diehard rugby fan I wanna see the best players playing test rugby especially for the All Blacks.

    • @Hatunrumioc
      @Hatunrumioc 2 месяца назад

      @exb254 Well you're the pot calling the kettle black there. Rassie wants to build more depth than you need and as a result has picked lesser players than he could have on many occasions, thereby cheapening test rugby, ripping off the fans, and treating many tests as a training run/ experiment. Not as bad as France is but the second worst for it easily and for different reasons. At least the French are hampered by the Top 14. As for those players you mentioned, while top players they are the past and not what the ABs need moving forward. Simply put, NZ's main issue has been that we haven't quite had the talent coming through like we normally do. But that is changing rapidly with generational players coming through this year and more waiting in the wings. This talk of picking overseas players comes up every now and again but it will be gone again by next year with the progress we are making with these young guys. You also didn't mention any of the negatives that would come with a change in policy. NZ isn't SA and our situation is very different. It would almost be cruel for SA not to pick overseas players with the state SA is in as a country. Logistically it wouldn't work for NZ and would drain NZ rugby like crazy potentially leading to it's collapse. The time difference alone would mean most kiwis wouldn't watch most of the ABs play, except when playing for NZ. The vast majority of NZs top players still play the bulk of their careers in NZ and that isn't changing. They still want to play for the ABs during their prime and all the names you mentioned are rapidly being replaced, and wouldn't even make the team if they were to return next year or whatever. If you haven't noticed NZ had been quite successful at international rugby even with that policy. We have the best players since the mid 2010's coming through (Will Jordan the exception) and it won't be long until everyone is wondering again how such a small country with a relatively tiny player pool, and hindered by our selection policy, can still be so damn good at rugby. See you in NZ next year!

    I didn't watch all of the show, but did anyone comment on what Razor said about numbers not mattering when it comes to loose forwards? Alot of the discussion around the loose forward make up that I heard from you guys was around who should play where: 6-7-8. Do you guys agree with Razor here? I think its a really interesting insight into his thinking and I have to be honest - I like it. The days of having a seven who predominantly pilfers, hits rucks, defends, is gone for me. Every loose forward needs to be able to do that in spades. That's just a given for being a loose forward and if someone struggles in that area it can be coached (often its a fitness or attitude thing). What all loose forwards need to be able to offer at test level now is the ability to run the ball and carry well over the ad line. Defences are so good now that this will be the difference between the best teams in the world. This is why Sititi is so exciting, this is what Ardie does so well when he is on his game. (He could still do it from 7 too) This is why South Africa are going so well - they have big ball carriers coming out their ears. Jacobson and Dalton have had their chance and they have not been dominant enough in this area - (to my mind). Blackadder better, but I think Razor needs to be looking for another loosey who can dominate collisions and look dangerous with the ball. This is harder to coach - as guys are either natural/instinctive ball runners or they are not.

  • @cheslinblows

    Am I the only one who thinks Razor is loving being in the spotlight a little to much? The way he carries himself in interviews is unlike any of his predecessors, no? The thing is, he knew all along that he's taking over from Fozzy, had all that time to get his ducks in a row...now he looks shellshock as to why the ABz ain't firing and performing on the brand of rugby he promised!
    Yes it's a whole new different mindset, but should it really be? The longer he takes to make the big reveal with All out-Guns blazing-Attacking-Running rugby, teams like The Boks and Rassie have evolved some more. The same goes for Ireland, France and England... So it's forever going to have to adapt and play catch up to those nations.
    NZRU needs to wake up and get with the times... Start choosing overseas based players and pay the players what they deserve(or ask for).

    I will say it again. It's time refs and their sidekicks get their games reviewed, their pay docked and game-time reduced. They have cost teams big time in biggest moments. They are the only ones leaving every game unscathed.

    So France are wasting NZ's time in 2025 by sending a second rate squad.
    Southern Hemisphere rugby should just cancel incoming French tours. They're not going to sell out stadiums or bring big TV audiences so they do nothing for the finances of the local union or it's brand value. We should all opt out of playing them on the end of season Northern Hemisphere tours too. Let them play their domestic rugby and we'll see them at RWC's.
    Let's rather see a full Bok tour to NZ in 2025, with midweek games ... like the AB tour to South Africa in 2026.
    Much better for both sets of fans. Much rather watch more All Blacks vs Boks rugby than wishy washy tests against weak opposition.

    The REAL difference? I would say referees... SA has stolen two WC.
