Is it weird that I unironically love the cheesy "We'll meet again, Spider-Man!" line? It's classic comic-book stuff, but Sam Rami created the world where it kind of works when in the MCU it would be super out-of-place.
I think it's mostly because MCU tries so hard to turn everything into a joke and the heroes are almost always in control of the situation; the protagonists are barely ever an underdogs in their stories.
Yeah it’s pretty cheesy but I can so easily see it being a panel in the comics, in that jagged speech bubble. I love how comic book like these films are, especially with how Peter has to struggle so much.
Iconic Spider-Man scene, it’s so creepy and cool. The way green goblin is flying from far to the audience. Gives me the chills. Best Spider-Man movie ever.
This movie alone to me capture that super hero feeling I got from the original Superman! It’s combination of scenes, with story and like u said the music, so perfect. And if I remember correctly it was first movie to hit 100 million in weekend.
Willem Dafoe is just such an incredible actor. To display this much fun and range without even even being able to show his face for half the movie is amazing.
I love William Dafoe's acting and performance as the Green Goblin. It's like Heath Ledger with the Joker. Plus he really gets the crazy laugh on point and really shows the difference between Norman Osborn and Green Goblin at times such as talking to himself and the split personality.
I don't think that there was EVER a better Green Goblin suit than this one. Maybe better incranations as a whole, but when it comes to the suit alone, this one is still the top one.
There’s nothin better than the last fight scene between these 2 in this movie. I don’t think we’ve ever seen a Super Hero take a beating like the Goblin gave Spidey
Everything's very well directed, clearly interpreted and shown in these movies compared to superhero movies we see these days with hard to understand action scenes.
Altough I think this trilogy is better I think there are good fight scenes in the new Spider-Man movie as well. For example the final fights with Mysterio in Spider-Man Far From Home was pretty good in my opinion.
Kaulana Luke “bAcK iN mY dAy” I get the nostalgia, I really do. But the new Spider-Man films didn’t suck and the fight scenes aren’t hard to follow at all. If you think that you’re either being melodramatic or you’re just a little too slow to keep up with them.
@quersea tell me how's he a sidekick when he defeated vulture on his own?? Mysterio too?? And war machine is iron man's sidekick.. plus mcu spiderman is 15 years.. and 15 year old aint mature enough to act like other heroes do.. he looks up to tony thats it..
2:16 Now there's a pretty subtle yet clever nod to his comic roots; when the Green Goblin rises up from the tent, you can see some purple paint tainted on top of his head. I honestly didn't see that until now!
I never really noticed, that Norman could have very easily killed his own son here, and he didn't give a shit at all. Speaks volumes about his character.
@@rishabhbhatnagar9632 Subconsciously he knew. Norman didn't care about Harry. Harry: My father loved me. Peter: No. He despised you. You were a disappointment.
"Hard to believe that next year this movie will be 20." I know, right? The years are just flying by now, with each one blurring into the next. "I remember it like yesterday. :')" Me too. A relic of a happier and simpler time (and I say this knowing that it still came out in the post-9/11 era, which just goes to show how much worse things are now than they were back then).
Willem Dafoe is still an amazing actor, easily A tier. It's whether marvel will be able to give him, as well as 5 other villains, 3 Spiderman and a wizard good characterization. In a 2 hour film. I'm sure from the way I worded that you can tell that I'm doubtful, but I have hope 😂
"We'll meet again Spider-Man!" he screams as he flies off into the distance is still one of the most comic-book moments in any of these films. Just straight out of the old cartoons. Reminds you also with this being the "first" of the modern Marvel films the only reference _was_ the cartoons and the older, campier, superhero movies.
The green goblin was terrifying in this movie. Look at him, flying around, laughing manically throwing bombs at people. He was really creepy. I remember spiderman throwing a punch thinking it would knock him out, and he caught it with ease. At that point, I thought spiderman was screwed. In this movie, the villain was stronger and smarter than the hero. It took true grit and adversity for the hero to win.
One of the good things the majority of the Sam rami films did was make a compelling villain most of the time with a somewhat understandable motive, again most of the time, and when they are villains they are amazing
Agreed. I like him in this scene you can see Norman has completely lost his sanity. When he sarcastically mocks the police and Spider-Man was super impactful to me lol.
@Bobby Papoutsis And actually Spiderman can be able to lift 25 tons, and in somewhat scenarios up to 60. So actually Spiderman can easily destroy Green goblin, green goblin is on par because of gadgets and Peter holding back always, if not then he would stomp.
Joijeong Thats not entirely true, at least in this universe. While Green Goblin may have some edge bc of his gadgets, the chemicals he exposed himself to enhanced his physical strength as well. U can see it in the lab scene where he throws his assistant across the room, and he wasnt even using his Goblin tech
I couldn’t agree more. However, I personally prefer his NWH costume over his original 2002 suit. Mainly because his NWH suit actually has the signature hood from the comics. NWH proved that William DaFoe doesn’t need a goblin mask to look menacing as the Green Goblin. As his face is already expressive enough to portray a menacing maniacal psychopath of a super villain.
i don't care what anyone ever says about Tobey. HE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE SPIDER-MAN. yes, he wasn't as comical as he should have been, but his acting was phenomenal, as well as raw and powerful. this movie symbolizes my childhood and always will. the fight scenes are so intense, realistic and full of true terror and suspense. there isn't one flaw with this movie in my book. Tobey, Kirsten and William nailed their roles and this film. no matter how many times i watch this movie, it will never get old, boring or annoying. it's a masterpiece all over and always will be. ❤ (edit) i just came back to this video not expecting this many likes or comments. i greatly appreciate all the positive feedback, it's absolutely amazing. now let's hope we get Tobey for a cameo or a main character in No Way Home!
Chris Austin Abso-bloody-lutely One thing I liked about Tobey's jokes is that they felt very Spider-Man and not at all forced and he may not have told many but he told them where they felt like they could be appropriate, it's clear they worked jokes in where they could so that way an intense scene wasn't ruined by Spidey just spouting one-liners
This scene has just such graceful and tasteful nods to Superman saving Lois in Superman 1977. Especially the dive at the end it’s identical to Superman. Some of it’s kind of goofy but spiderman was essentially our second silver screen superhero ever (in a movie made to respect and honor the character) Superman 1977 and Spider-Man 2001 are the two most important superhero movies ever and not only that, they are stunningly great even with aged effects and cgi, most of which is practical.
I was literally born the year spiderman 3 came out. I never got to see the trilogy on the big screen, but I still cherish those movies like my childhood memories
William Dafoe was perfect to portray the Green Goblin. I cant see anybody else taking the role. He just brought life into one of Spider-man's most dangerous villains. Now years later, now reprising his role again. Its amazing. "Out, am I?! I was only 1 when this came out, seeing spiderman get the black suit when I was six in theaters was a high point. Fuck what anyone says spiderman 3 is great
Part of it is because Goblin doesn’t say a word until he attacks. He swoops in completely silent, almost like a predator circling their prey. It’s only when he strikes that he reveals what he truly is. An absolute monster.

Is it weird that I unironically love the cheesy "We'll meet again, Spider-Man!" line? It's classic comic-book stuff, but Sam Rami created the world where it kind of works when in the MCU it would be super out-of-place.
Conor Gleeson G1
I think it's mostly because MCU tries so hard to turn everything into a joke and the heroes are almost always in control of the situation; the protagonists are barely ever an underdogs in their stories.
Yeah it’s pretty cheesy but I can so easily see it being a panel in the comics, in that jagged speech bubble. I love how comic book like these films are, especially with how Peter has to struggle so much.
Giga Atom Almost every shot in this movie could be a comic book panel. That’s why I love it so much

Iconic Spider-Man scene, it’s so creepy and cool. The way green goblin is flying from far to the audience. Gives me the chills. Best Spider-Man movie ever.
The reason to give chills is the soundtrack too, it leaves you in the world of fantasy and fear and I agree, the best spiderman.
This movie alone to me capture that super hero feeling I got from the original Superman! It’s combination of scenes, with story and like u said the music, so perfect. And if I remember correctly it was first movie to hit 100 million in weekend.

I still remember how I'm scared of green goblin..went to cinema for first time in 2002 i was 6 years old...

Willem Dafoe was absolutely brilliant in Spiderman No Way Home. I love how he can kill it as a villain.
When he was announced to play Vulko in Aquaman, i was pretty surreal about him playing a Marvel villain and a DC mentor
Love how at this scene 2:16 You can see the purple reflect on Goblins helmet just like the comic version

i don't care what anyone ever says about Tobey. ❤

One thing I liked about Tobey's jokes is that they felt very Spider-Man and not at all forced and he may not have told many but he told them where they felt like they could be appropriate, it's clear they worked jokes in where they could so that way an intense scene wasn't ruined by Spidey just spouting one-liners
Kids today will never understand the elation of seeing Spiderman on the big screen. This still gives me chills.
