Without this bear, there would’ve been no Curtis couple. Without Curtis couple, Izumi would never have opened the door of truth. Without her opening the door of truth, Elric brother would never have chosen her as their master. Without the Alchemist Elric brother, the Father would’ve destroyed the world. This bear saved the world.
Yeah, except that if she hadn’t opened the gate there would have been only one person he could have used as a sacrifice. Two if you count that Pride could make another by destroying himself. So this bear pit the world in danger as much as saved it.
That has always been one of the only major sticking point for me in the show. Father goes to such incredible lengths to carry out his plan, yet he is really short on potential sacrifice candidates. All they needed to do to completely destroy his plans was get out of the country for literally a few days. Hell if Izumi or someone happened to stumble and break her neck accidentally everything would have been ruined. There should have been at least one evil alchemist who had opened the door that was actively and voluntarily working with Father (because sacrifice was a bit of a misnomer, the sacrifices were the only people in the country safe from Father's plan) that the protagonists needed to make it their goal of incapacitating.
I suppose so but in the event of that worst case scenario that probably could have forcibly created some like that created mustang. Not ideal I know considering what it did to pride but it could be done

That's not really a bad strategy, in order for to become strong enough to carry a bear you need to start going to the gym on regular basis, which means you'll have people you can socialize with them and possibly hangout with, not to mention going to the gym leads to raising your self esteem and making you taking care of your health which ends up making you look more attractive.

Huh... i actually expected their background story to be more dramatic. Of course i realize that the bear was Izumi's lunch which she choked to death with her bare (althoug not bear) hands along the way. But still... bumping into each other on the street? No punching down trees, no reality-warping muscle flexing, no Meat Friday, no 2 vs 9000 battle, no run in with the Armstrong tribe? Its so... normal.

He used to be fit and trim, but he developed a bit of a belly after he got married and I think that's adorable. You can tell he is still very healthy and incredibly strong, so it's obvious that he didn't get lazy. That means he must adore his wife's cooking so much that he'll eat enough to get a belly despite him still working out.

I actually thought it was some weird alternate universe tale where Izumi fell in love with Bradley. Was simultaneously relieved and weirded out when I realized it was Sig.
If there is one thing i will say, it's that Sig is the realistic one in the relationship. I know that sounds odd, but when izumi is saying how easy the elrox brothers training is compared to her own, he outright says 'Don't compare yourself to a normal person!' to izumi. He is quite aware how OP'ed he and his wife are, and is sensible enough not to use it as a standard.
This one of my favorite shows of all time for this exact reason. It is capable of being insanely philospophical while never losing itself to pretentiousness or existentialism and also just being human and showing how life is beautiful in the simplest of ways.
And yes, I’m positive Arakawa-san wrote this as well. It’s from the “Brotherhood” anime, which is meant to be faithful to the manga, since the first anime split off after the 5th laboratory arc.
Fullmetal Alchemist is the perfect example how the same anime can be different over a period of time. Even if the newer version of Alchemist is great i still prefer the old ones atmosphere and how they execute certain story portions

Fullmetal Alchemist is the perfect example how the same anime can be different over a period of time. Even if the newer version of Alchemist is great i still prefer the old ones atmosphere and how they execute certain story portions
