How Could a Veteran Cop Mistake Their Gun for a Taser?

  • The Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon has been identified as Kim Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department. "Taser! Taser!" officer Potter could be heard yelling on the body-worn camera footage released by police Monday, which included the moment Wright was shot. Potter is then seen grabbing her handgun and firing a bullet. So how could a veteran cop mistake their gun for a much lighter taser? #InsideEdition

      Its actually true the American police system has the least training and requirements to become and officer. the whole system needs to be dismantled. In America you can become an officer with a GED, and a total of 6 months training... In Canada most officers have university degrees in criminology and take on going de-escalation training and mental evaluations. Everyone needs to come together to demand the entire American policing system be changed. and hold your politicians accountable! to make these changes!

      She probably sucks with the hands on street work. But she got promotions sucking up internally because she posses good interpersonal communication. But when it comes to executing responsibilities on the field she actually sucks. She displays this by publically resigning. That there shows that she isn't qualified to perform her duties in law enforcement.

    • @codykirchner9606

      I've always wondered why they don't use a taser with a button instead of a trigger, so you don't even use the same finger. I also think this is a side product of so many police forces focusing on the ease of the striker fired glock, instead of the safety of something with an external safety instead of a trigger safety. A 1911 or an hk with an external would have never gone ouf in this scenario. Both functions, a button taser and an external safety would go a long way toward addressing these problems; at least that's how I see it. But I'm not an expert. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

    • @AbelSorin
      @AbelSorin 3 года назад +12

      Interesting way to describe it, and I agree. It makes more sense to have to use the taser differently. You can even use the same finger, but if you have to press a sideway button, you wouldn't be able to discharge a firearm if you actually pressed that spot.

I have never hold a gun in my life but looking at the video I can see she knew it's the gun because if you stretch your hand in front of you, your eye's gaze will capture at least 180° of the images around you in all the angles ie, down , right , left, and top but the most obvious will be the images right in front of you and with the yellow colour of the taser I can conclude that she mearnt to shoot this young man and plan to shout "taser, taser, taser just to disguise her well planned intention and premeditated murder. She did plan this perhaps to sow a confusion in the Derick Chauvin case. She killed Mr Wright on purpose.
