    QUICK NOTE ON EIKON BATTLES!
(I can't believe I basically skipped past talking about these battles)
I LOVE THEM! They just got better and BETTER (with the exception of maybe one battle towards the end that was really underwhelming). As far as the gameplay goes, these battles were EASILY the highlight of FF16. Seriously, these were some of the most technically impressive sequences of any game I've ever played.

I platinumed 1 and 2 this week and binged a ton of your videos while I played. I’m recovering from surgery so it was really nice and relaxing. Anyway today I subscribed and I want you to know I really enjoy your content!

FF16 was the first game this year to make me speechless from what I was playing. I mean those Eikon battles made me take a step back, convincing myself that this is a full blown video game. I used to look at FF7 Advent Children and seeing Cloud fight Bahamut wishing we could get battles on that type of scale in an FF game, and now we have that in real time gameplay. I also just really love how great the story is as well as how great a protagonist Clive is. This is truly a great addition to the mainline franchise.

This is the first FF game I played completely blind. It ended up having the perfect gameplay to story ratio and difficulty for me. Combat had lots of potential for depth, but also enough simple elements that you don't need to dive to deep into it if you don't want to, which is also exactly the kind of thing I love. I also don't really ever feel compelled to explore in games, so the world structure didn't bother me at all. This particular brand of post-game isn't my favorite though, I don't have any plans to play on the higher difficulty any time soon. Story and characters were also great, though I didn't find myself quite as attached to the characters as I am to those in, say, 7. I also have very mixed feelings on the ending; I feel like I need to talk it over with someone who really liked it or something lol, because a lot of the choices they made at the very end left me wondering what exactly they were supposed to add to the story. tldr, great game, good story, best cid

I hate that this vid only has 1k views. This is such a wonderful review! FF16 is so flawed, but it's my favorite video game experience I've had in over 3 decades. I wish FF16 would've had a broader reach and more mainstream acceptance. I need more FF like 16!

Most definitely, and you have so much freedom of movement with him as well. But that 1st fight in the beginning with Phoenix was breath taking for sure. 😊

New favorite game ever personally. There’s something very particular I’ve been looking for in the realm of hack and slash and action RPGs and their storytelling, and as a DMC, Bayonetta and Final Fantasy fan with a cat named Sora, this game was the whole package. All I can ask for at this point is a beefy directors cut or some fun DLC. This was everything I wanted, even if it takes such a departure in some ways. I’m excited to see their next experiment after this one, but I’d say this one was a resounding success. Nothing it does is particularly “new”, but it does everything it does better than the rest and isn’t afraid to flex. I felt like I was playing a spiritual successor to Kingdom Hearts II.

Soken and Koji Fox are the musicians behind FF16's music. Same peeps behind FF14 music.

I was looking forward to your review! Congrats on beating it 🎉 and wow.. this is the review I probably agree with the most, whether for the same reasons or for different ones. But you made an amazing point, I too, play this series for the STORY first and foremost, and I got exactly what I came for, it was a well told, dramatic rollercoaster of emotions that used every common trope or theme this series is known for. And it earned it’s place on being a *Final Fantasy* in that regard, almost as if they intended on writing it that way.
Does it have some low points ? Absolutely, but all of it pales in comparison to the things it does so well. I enjoyed watching your review and look forward to more!

watching this review in anticipation for the pc release. i really liked 16. my only complaint is that you dont get to visit at least one major city as an actual "town". the world is great, but feel like its still a tease.

I feel the same about FF overall, I strongly disliked turn based combat until I played FFVII and absolutely loved it for its story, characters, music and designs so much that I came out of it enjoying turn based combat and went on to play the others, so when I got to play XVI, I couldn't believe how "top tier" the execution of those non gameplay elements was done, I cried so so much playing this and I think it's funny how the Twinside level gets me in tears, then super hyped with the best boss fight I've experienced in any videogame and then back to tears. Now, gameplay wise... I also loved it! I'm a Bayonetta fan, so knowing that FFXVI was going to be an action game got me pretty happy, I really like all the accessibility the game has to offer, but I also think that there should be options to scale the difficulty upwards, because this combat system has so much secret sauce that didn't click until I tried the NG+ Arcade Mode, the importance of thinking about your loadouts, how every single skill offers something different, using Limit Break bars as an animation cancel and defensive option, Torgal as a combo extender, it's all so fun!
I really enjoyed the review, I think there were too many outlets that made a huge deal on the lack of classic FF RPG elements, when there is so much to appreciate in every other aspect of the game that feel so Final Fantasy, definitely XVI has become one of my favorites exactly because of how strongly FF everything feels. And the DLC was soooooo fun, the new accessories are great and can't wait for Leviathan DLC.
