    As a 21 year old that owns a 2014 ES350...
    I have to say I only like it being FWD for fuel efficiency. I used to own an Integra and loved it so much. I wanted to get out of the cheap sporty world and enter the cheap luxury market because ive grown up. I dont want to go fast. I just want something thats comfortable and also somewhat fun to drive!

    This really is an amazing car. You can rotate the car predictably with drop throttle neutral to slight oversteer in corners, has enough power and a great transmission. And will last much longer and be more reliable than most cars. Great review Sarah.

    The Lexus is $10k more than a similar Avalon, but it looks like $20k more, inside and out. This is the ES to get!
    Great job, Lexus!

      not molesting a f-sport with a hybrid system is a great choice. Hybrid cars in performance do worse in sales. If you are concerned for fuel economy, then you do NOT want a fast car.

    I have a 2013 ES350 with only 38k miles. Best car ive ever owned and I’m on #20 since 1981 when i turned 17. LEXUS is by far the best car company, most reliable and luxurious! Reliability and longevity is unparalleled. My ES350 will last for 10+ years since I drive only about 6-8k miles a year and will maintain it. Pearl White (triple coat) metallic exterior is beautiful and glistens in the sun. WOuld love to drive this F Sport version! 302 hp vs my 268 hp would be great too. That interior is amazing, especially those seats

    Sarah your reviews are always awesome. You end this one saying you like the GS better... I bought a certified pre-owned GS350 F-Sport AWD a little over a year ago, and have shocked all my family and friends who've known me as a Mazda purist for the past 30+ years. I'm in love! It's needed some warranty work, and I've had almost every other Lexus as loaners, the ES being one of them. While it's an overall great car, quieter than my GS, smoother, waaaay more rear legroom, more efficient, and pretty zippy too, it's - as you stated - "wrong-wheel drive". There is just no comparison to the rear-drive based GS. Sadly, the GS is gone now. grrrr But no way does an F-Sport ES fill the big shoes of the GS F-Sport. No way. Thanks again, I always look forward to seeing your reviews!

      @InexplicableBill 4 года назад +9

      Sure, but now that old lady has something REALLY BALLSY to unintendedly accelerate into the storefront of her hair salon at the strip mall. It's always some sort of Toyota. The ES is, after all, a glammed up Camry.

      @@thisismagacountry1318 You've been somewhat misinformed. The Toyota New Global Architecture (aka TNGA-K, also GA-K) platform was rolled out to underpin the current generation Camry in 2017, then for the new Avalon, Rav-4 & Lexus ES in '18, the new Highlander in '19 and the new Sienna and resurrected Venza in 2020. I knew the gist of this from reading Car & Driver for years, but I had to look up the specifics on Wikipedia.

    The common complaint is yes they now share the same 3.5L (2GR-FKS) engine, yes they both run the same 8sp auto. But where the Camry/Avalon fall short is the fact that lesser models (Camry/Avalon) feel like they don't have "all" their power available (thus feeling restricted) where as the Lexus version is so much better, it feels like it has no restrictions power wise, etc. Toyota did this because they can't have the same true performance/programming otherwise ES's wouldn't sell, after driving both back to back, yes they're both decently quick but the ES feels so much more responsive, more top end, less eager to dial back everything, etc. I'd take the Lexus for many reasons including that extra/unique cladding lexus models get over the Camry, interior fit/finish, transmission programming is superior, etc

      InexplicableBill I know that. However, the ES and Avalon have the same wheelbase and track width as each other. Starting with the previous generation, Lexus decided to base the ES on the Avalon, rather then the Camry. I hate it when I stack comments but is it just me, or does it look like the gas pedal and the brake pedal are reversed @2:34?

    The ES has always been front wheel drive. In fact, it's the only front wheel drive car the Lexus has ever made. For many years it used the same body and platform as the Toyota Camry.

      Actually, the Lexus NX is based on the Toyota Rav-4, and the Lexus UX is based on the Toyota CH-R. Both are front-wheel drive or available w/ AWD.

    The Buick LaCrosse has been discontinued for over a year and still sold almost half as many Avalons. Avalons sales are so poor at -34% drop from 2019.

      Neither as they are just FWD Camry's underneath.
