How To Fix Dodge Ram Power Windows

- This is how I fixed the power windows on my 2003 dodge ram 2500. The problem i was having was only the driver's door could control the windows. All I had to do was bypass the child lock switch by connecting two wires. This should work on most ram series trucks.

Did this fix today..worked 100%. Did not use a jumper, just good Ole electric tape after slicing together.

Idk if anyone is still commenting on this.
1) Happened to me
2) checked fuses and wiring
3) messed with the buttons
4) I had to put my side mirror button pressed down on L and they started working again. No cutting or removing needed for my experience.

Great video. But, how did you determine which wires fed the window lock? I see a lot of yellow wires.
Fantastic fix ,simple no brainer. I spent $ 8.00 on a ebay switch that I didnt need Thanks so much
I have a 2002 Ram 1500 2 door regular cab that had this same problem. I just used a piece of phone wire to jump the peach and (thick) yellow wires at the plug connection and it works the balls. Saved me form buying a new switch assy. which cost $30 to $60. Thanks.
(It helps to insert the phone wire if you first lift the white plastic tabs that keep the wires in the plug and then replace the white tabs after the phone wire is inserted.)
Worked on my dodge 2003 standard cab. It was only working on master switch till it stopped working on that. Now passenger side controls its own window....Thanks...Got the tap splice from ace hardware. Now each door door controls it’s own window....all for $3.00....Great video

Same with mine only drivers is working. Do I splice them both together?
Great fix, thanks. A heads up to others: make sure you jump the cables close to where the two harnesses separate so as to leave enough room for the connectors.

This fixed my issue. My wire colors were different and I used the jumper method as described in the previous comments. This after buying a new master control a few years ago that did the same thing after only a few uses. This saved me from spending another $20. Thanks for the video and all of the comments.
What were your colors I have a 09 6.7 2500 Cummins and my wires are different
@@josephcope1714 I can't remember, but 2 of the comments gave me a place to start. I think it was the peach wire and the thick yellow wire. Hope this helps. My Ram is a 2004 1500.
Can i just buy a new driver side remote panel and pidh the child lock for the window will that work i just need to turn it off
@@coltonfowler7785 When mine first stopped working I bought a replacement and that one quit working not long after install. Eventually none of the windows would work until I used the jumper wire. It's worked perfectly since. Best to just jumper it and not worry about it.
Good stuff, I was just looking up how to fix this on my 03 1500. This seems like the most logical solution because I don't have kids and really have no use for the window lock feature.

I've had this video saved for about a year. Fixed it in less then 5 minutes while still in the Walmart parking lot where I got the quick clip.
Rear plug = Nude color wire
Front plug. = Largest Yellow color wire
Both are the same diameter
Blue Quick Clip and BOOM. They all work great now. Just as you've described.
My Quick Clip had one through channel & one dead end. A quick simple whittle with my pocket knife carved out the dead end flap and made it a "double (2) through channel" Quick Clip. Blue is the perfect size Clip for these two wires.
Does the connecter have to be double sided on both sides or just the one?

I've been having a problem I can't roll any of my windows down. I bought a new main switch for the drivers side but that worked enough to roll my windows up but then stopped all together again. I think it's the wires or the window lock how can I buy pass the lock button I don't care if I can't use it just as long as I can roll my windows up and down again.

No need for a jumper. The solder joint at the switch has a "Cold" solder joint (manufacturing process failure resulting in latent failure). You can see it with a magnifier. Simply re-solder the joints at the switch and it will work fine.
Can you provide a picture of the joints you mention?
@@jlbaca7314 Just Google "cold solder joint" and there's lots of examples. Basically, you'll see a tiny crack around the center of the joint.

I had one on hand, but any auto store or Walmart would have them. The video shows a good photo of what it looks like.

Yes. It comes with one side blocked so you can deadend a wire in it. I just drilled out the little plastic restricter.

Just bought new master switch on eBay with new bezzel and all for 25 bucks and everything works took about two minutes to install

Be great if you showed each of them 2 wires where they are located in each plug, my 04 has a orange harness with colored trace stripes, completely different colors from yours.
I have that same wireing harnes. for me it was pink with yellow stripe on one side and orange with blue stripe on the other side

Why didn't you just buy a new master window switch? There 20$ new on eBay and Amazon. Had mine in for two years now. No issues.
I just replaced the master driver switch with one from Amazon but the windows stopped working again. It's funny because the side mirror motor still work. I'm thinking maybe that's why this method works in his case and maybe mine too.

Quick splice dorman part #85464 18-14 gauge was small for my application so maybe a larger size splicer

Its called displacement conector you might be able to find it at walmart or at any auto part store but dont take my word for it

Looks like the face plate is now loose. Did you break the tabs?

Anyone know the colors for 2006 1500 slt? Also the blue box that connects to the bottom of the master switch has a burnt one inside. How should I go about that?
My wires are different I don’t have thick yellow once and help my thickest one id a peachy one with a line next to it I don’t have the tick yellow one I do have the other peach one tho

I cut the two wires thinking I could make something else work and it did not. I lost power to my master window. Locks work but window wont roll down from master and master cant roll the others down now either. How do I fix this and what did I miss
Sorry for the late reply, but I just did the same thing. In my truck, the peach wire supplies power to the windows, and the yellow actually goes to the window lock wire. Should've connected the yellow to the peach, not peach to yellow 🥲
Would this work on a 03 Dakota? Does anyone know if the wiring is similar??

I got sperm all over the switches and it dried up all inside the electrical terminals what do I do?

I replaced mine a few years ago and it started doing the same thing. This actually fixed it and cost zero dollars.
