    He makes a good point about the absurdity of prejudice with the beastslayers. Here is this band of people, minding their own business and slaying dangerous beasts. Every town with beasts nearby has frightened villagers, disappearing children etc so these beasts are clearly a menace. Youd think these guys would be heros but humans are weird and I can absolutely see how these people would be misunderstood and persecuted against. Great world building in BB!

    Oathtakers ambitions aren't bad at all and many times can be helpful. I really enjoyed the Oathtakers origin, you start with a couple great brothers, some good gear, and the oaths help more than hurt if you are smart about the fights you take.

    My preference has always been beast hunters for the constant challenge and role play aspect. They start injured, hp in the red and morale tanked to breaking. It's the literal disaster save file start. Take if you'd like the trouble of getting them into profit. Otherwise know it's going to be hard and requires some smart/flawless play.
    On the plus side, they start with very good and accurate weapons, a net, a dog and a reasonably good range bro (which is damned rare in BB). The deserters begin with equivalent tier gear but in their armour. Overalp 3rd or 4th best equipped start. It's also the start that's the easiest to learn about juicing up the band with potions as well as indiscriminate bomb use.

      Beast Slayer works well with the chemist retinue. Also, Beast Slayers have better changes to get more materials from the monsters. Its not soo easy getting white pelts from the yetis (difficult to find or with chosen/reavers), the tree monsters (that everyone love them🥰), getting the scales from the Lindwurms (the beast that everyone loves😜), the materials to craft the trinket +6 resolve, or having one extra material from the Kraken as a bonus because if you're beast slayer, you get 1 more material (another beast that everyone especially loves😂). If you want to craft some nimble-forged armor, you must fight the trees monsters and the linwdwurms to get the right materials, and you dont want to fight them every day.
      It's, a difficult origin, and its not for everyone, but its easier to have all your party members with attachments and the +6 resolve thing.

  • @kobal6525
    @kobal6525 11 месяцев назад +9

    I mostly agree with your list, for me I would definitely put the raiders above the band of poachers, I agree that the trading caravan is really nice an open ended. I played a few runs with it, it's nice to hoard a lot of valuable goods greedily and then make massive profits while selling at festivals or southern cities. I like to keep a little paperpad on the side while playing them lol. Great stuff. Nicely detailed video too, for me the biggest weakness to any run is having a limit of 12 brothers in the roster total. It just forces you to have 2 archers or so at all times so you can tackle all kinds of content, meaning you need to make them hybrids for the late game pretty much.

    I love the Manhunters orgin.
    When I play them I will give my indebted throwing weapons because the whip bonus makes them really good at range attacks (and melee) while giving my free man polearms because they can then whip and attack in the same turn while being safe in the back lines.
    Also, they are cheap, the indebted cost no upkeep, and level up fast (they get a exp bonus with this origin)
    Here is also a small tip, the indebted get different stats based on who you capture (desert, normal or barbarian)

    Surprised Davkul ranked so low. You don't really have to worry about brothers leaving if they are converted, they get huge buffs, they all have deathwish, anyone can become a cultists, and the only negative is the game occasionally demanding a sacrifice. But the entire game is about sacrifice.

    Peasant militia, traders, the raiders and poachers are my favs origin. the trade one (Raven Co.) was my most succesful, few casualties,lots of good and gold, fun times. the militia was fun until late-mid, late game, I just got powercreeped. Raider are cool you just have to move away down south and avoid anything that can clap you, aka most stuff. And last the poachers (The Gladeruners) was the one which more fun I had! Lower cap on carry and brodas was not a biggie tbh, being fast (on map) is a good thing overall, this run ended wen one of my OG bros was killed during a confrontation against another mercenary company and we retired on late game with a happy ending. Lets hope we get Battle Brothers 2 in the near future!

    I personally consider deserter as the best origin, a free perk that can be used offensively and defensively on ALL your bros is very strong, makes fighting hexen extremely trivial if you have a couple of bros with bow and crossbow, only origin that can be very consistent in a fight versus hexen (this is excluding keeping a bunch of sticks in your inventory for the fight).

    Beast Hunters - I really like it but yea it is somewhat worse. It doesn't help to snowball just offers convenience of quicker attachment acquisition in midgame. I like playing it as it pushes you more into Beast contracts that are notoriously bad. Also Snake Oil isn't affected by their penalty so you go for it. Still as someone mentioned - tough to get going. Not many people realise it but Beast Hunters being one of the classes that benefits more from roaming in forests (you can get free food) and while not limited to this origin, Beast Hunters are fine candidates for hybrids and sometimes make for great Archers.
    Oathtakers - Nice tempo origin. Really need to get working on that Dagger Specialist asap so by the time you get your story battle against betrayers you can acquire additional Oathtaker 300 armor. Some oaths also push you into unique lineups like 2 Sergeants, which opens new options. Oathtakers having more Initiative makes them fun 0Stam/Dodge builds. There is also high chance your young Oathtaker is prime material for fencer build.
    Davkul - you didn't mention that you can control who gets sacrificed (first non cultist are selected so you can have 2 indebted at all times for fodder). It is just little unwieldy by the first sacrifice period as you probably have still few more brothers you want to convert which has lower chance as your number of cultist is low. Good Origin for Full Adrenaline team, which is breath of fresh air and in late game having extra stamina recovery is just strong.
