Thank you so much for this video. I wasn’t seeing proper results after using the acne gel but after watching this video I realized that i have to thoroughly rub it in. I also didn’t know that the gel came before moisturizer so thank you!

Thank you so much for this vid 😭😭 I tried many other products ( expensive af ) thinking that they will do their job just because they are expensive but I was wrong , beign expensive doesn’t mean that they will help improve your skin , I just started using cerave and im so happy that this is helping me my skin condition its between sensitive / oily / dry on the cheeks

At first I only used cleanser but now I don’t want to ruin my skin and I wanted to have a good routine and you gave me so many options and that was just what I wanted and thank you so much also for giving the order of wich product you have to use first ❤
@@domy0849 So all you need to do is just wash your face with water in the AM and/or PM, and for the rest, leave your skin alone. Otherwise, you are going to create problems by using such products, as it disrupts your skin balance.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDietSorry for poor english but its because I’m italian. I use these products because my face is oily on the T zone and dry on some places and my forehead is full of acne that’s why
@@domy0849 So, you can try using a Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser-just apply it where you get acne. It's also advisable to figure out the root cause of your acne. Does it come from your diet, which may affect your gut and skin? Or is it due to stress or other mental factors? See here: ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4j-bcEAC5JU9n0zB0zLi_la8jkx_ZKzl
Hi, I don't have a daily routine, I will buy cerave, is it mandatory to buy retinol? Can you give me some advice for a daily routine for acne-prone skin? Thanks for the video, greetings from Dominican Republic.Excuse me for my english
Either get a Salicylic Acid-based cleanser or a Benzoyl Peroxide (4%) cleanser, and only use it on acne-affected areas. No, you do not need to buy Retinol or another exfoliant. However, you need to figure out whether your skin responds better to Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide. However, I also recommend investigating the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), or your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, milk, bread (gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).
Thank you for the explanation. i currently use Cerave resurfacing retinol serum at evening and i want to get this Cerave acne control gel. How i do i combine both for my evening skin care routine? I want to treat acne dark spots on my face.
I'm 16 from nigeria can i use acne control cleanser and acne control gel and recommend a good skin care routine for me .i have an oily skin but during the day i have combinatin skin and i have dark spots.please i need your help.
Hey! 😊 Well, you can follow the example routine as I've mentioned in the video. If you do not tolerate the combination of the Acne Control Cleanser and Gel in one routine, keep them separate and use CeraVe's regular Foaming Cleanser when using the Acne Control Gel. Adjust the frequency to your needs and tolerance. Also, don't forget to use sunscreen during the day. CeraVe also has a gel-type moisturizer (fairly new) that you may want to get instead of their PM moisturizer or skip the moisturizer altogether.
Thank you:) If I use the Acne Control Gel only in the evening routine, do I have to apply sunscreen after cleansing in the morning routine?(I have oily and acne prone skin.)
Technically, it depends on your daily activities. The gel makes the skin sensitive to the sun because it sheds the outer layers of dead skin cells. As a result, the healthier skin cells are more exposed to the sun and more sensitive. Therefore, whenever you have prolonged sun exposure, you should wear sunscreen, regardless of the time. However, if you are mostly indoors or have only brief intervals of sun exposure, you might not need to use it, or a low SPF and PA factor may suffice. Still, I think it's important to wear sunscreen even for shorter periods, as the effects can accumulate over time.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you, Actually, I use La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVmune Oil Control SPF 50+ product in my morning routine, but this product made my face more oily and shiny from the first moment I applied it. Also, my acne increased after using it, but I am not sure whether the reason for the acne is the sunscreen or the Acne Control Gel. Do you think I should continue to use sunscreen or should I use the gel a few times a week instead of every day? :)
@@ismailvasip5726 It could be either the gel or the sunscreen causing the issue. How long have you been using the gel? Based on your description, I assume it's daily. Remember, overuse can lead to breakouts, as it may overwhelm the skin barrier. Thus, reducing the frequency or even stopping for a week and then using it less often might already solve the problem. It might also be the sunscreen. That's why I only use Winona SPF 48 and Good Molecules Sheer Mineral SPF. I tolerate both well and they don't seem to increase my acne. However, it's very challenging to determine the exact cause as it depends on individual skin tolerance, sensitivities, and personal preferences for what you like wearing on your skin.

Hey! 😊 The order of application looks good; however, I think that this can become quite irritating because you want to use two exfoliating acid products in the same routine + on the same day. Especially when doing this daily, it can really overwhelm the skin. I recommend using either The Ordinary's Salicylic Acid Solution or CeraVe Acne Control Gel. If you want to use both, use them on alternate days. Over time, you may be able to use one in the morning and the other one in the evening (which depends on your skin tolerance). Still, I think that it's going to be too much over time. Correct! :)
Hii! I love the video that you just did right there it's very understandable thank you. But I just wanted to know what should these three products of CeraVe should go first. I have the one called "Acne foaming cream cleanser" and the "Foaming facial cleanser" and "Acne control gel" can you help me which one should go first? Or the steps?
Use the Acne Foaming Cleanser in the morning and the Foaming Facial Cleanser in the evening when using the gel. Avoid using the Acne Foaming Cleanser and Acne Control Gel in the same routine. @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you very much Melissa I will be doing that from now on. Such a great person you are helping others and I'll be watching the video that you sent me thank you.
No, you cannot use The Ordinary Buffet with the Acne Gel or Paula's Choice 2% BHA. And also recommend not using the CeraVe Acne gel with Paula's Choice BHA since they are the same and it may lead to irritation if you planning on doing it regularly. So you basically need to use them all at different times to get all the benefits 😞
Use a regular cleanser to wash your face, such as the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser or The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser (which should work well year-round). Then, consider using the Acne Control Gel or something like the Beauty of Joseon AHA+BHA Toner. However, keep in mind that if you struggle with acne to also investigate into the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), or your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, spices, milk, bread (wheat/gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).
Hi Please I have a very sensitive oily skin And I want to try cerave for the first time I got the acne control cleanser and the blemish control gel and also the mosturizers for both pm and am and also retinol Please is this too much for my skin do handle For the first time and please is it safe to use the cleanser and the control gel together
Using multiple new products at once can be overwhelming for the skin, so it's always best to introduce new products one at a time and gradually build up your routine. My suggestion would be to start by using the retinol serum every other day for a few weeks before introducing the other products, especially the blemish control gel. Alternatively, you could use the products less often during the first few weeks and gradually increase usage. Here's a sample routine: AM: Cleanse face with a gentle foaming cleanser. Pat dry with a clean towel. Apply moisturizer or moisturizer with sunscreen, depending on your daily activities and sun exposure. PM1 (2-3 times a week): Cleanse face with a gentle foaming cleanser. Pat dry with a clean towel. Apply retinol. Wait 2-3 minutes. Apply moisturizer. PM2 (1-2 times a week): Cleanse face with a gentle foaming cleanser. Pat dry with a clean towel. Apply blemish control gel. Leave it on or wait 2-3 minutes and apply moisturizer. If you are not using any of the products, simply cleanse your face, pat dry, and apply moisturizer. Keep in mind that this routine may work for you, but it depends on your overall skin tolerance for these products.
Hello, i have just started using the cerave post acne cleanser and then I put on the blemish control gel. I then put drops of the ordinary on top at the end, is this the right order? Or should the ordinary drops coke before the gel?.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I Have the niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% mineral Blemish formula and the cerave I use is the blemish control cleanser for blemish prone skin and the gel is also blemish control gel.
@@LouieCollins-p3q I suggest getting another foaming cleanser such as CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, or even the new The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, and then alternate to avoid irritation. Also, a light moisturizer or hyaluronic acid serum may be beneficial. So, you could do the following: AM: Clean your face with one of the cleansers suggested above. Pat dry. Apply a niacinamide serum. Wait for 30-60 seconds. Use sunscreen when exposed to the sun (as you are using these exfoliating acid products, making your skin sensitive to the sun). PM 1: Clean your face with one of the cleansers suggested above. Pat dry. Apply the blemish control gel. Wait for 1-2 minutes. Apply a hyaluronic acid serum or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan. PM 2: Clean your face with CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser. Pat dry. Apply a hyaluronic acid serum or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan. This routine should work well. However, keep in mind that overusing these acids can lead to more irritation, so moderation is key. 🙃
Well, it always depends on your skin tolerance. But the Resurfacing Retinol serum has a very hydrating formulation, so it shouldn't be an issue. Just test it; it will not burn your skin. But if too much dryness occurs, balance it with a moisturizer or just alternate days :) Or use the Acne Control cleanser in the morning and the Retinol in the evening.
Thank you for this video! I have a question: would you say this works more as a serum or a spot treatment? I am trying to figure out when I should incorporate this in my routine while also using serums (Cerave Skin Renewing Retinol Serum in the PM and Cerave Vitamin C Serum in the AM) or if i should replace my serums with this instead. Thank you in advance!
Well, it could be used all over the face or just in the affected area. This depends on how much acne and acne spots you may have. For how long have you been using CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol serum? Do you use it daily?
Hey Mellisa I am thinking to get this cleanser I have been using other ordinary products like nicinamide, ascorbyl glucoside and alpha arbutin every night and no moisturiser Should i need to have the cerave acne control gel ? Thanks
hi, i come across your videos every time i buy cerave products. can i use the cerave acne foaming cream wash (10% benzoyl peroxide) with the acne control gel?
No, that combination is too strong and may cause sensitivities over time. Use them on different days, and adjust the amounts according to your personal skin tolerance.
Thank you ♡ But I have a question: I have oily skin with little acne and I use the blemish control cleanser and acne control gel. Do I also have to use a moisturizer after applying these 2? (Remember I have oily skin)
Thanks for the clarification! I have been cleansing, then moisturizing, and then using the gel during the night. will I get better results if I use the gel before the moisturizer?
If you do not have sensitive/dry skin, you do not need to use anything before or after. Cleanse Differin Gel But nobody really knows this since there are no studies. So you could still see the same results. But if you use a moisturizer before or something that buffers it, it will penetrate slower into the skin, making it more tolerable. Still, there is also the concern that your pores may get clogged and that it reduces its efficacy. But nobody tested it yet 😉
If your skin tolerates it, yes. However, using the acne control cleanser and gel in the same routine and using them too often may also cause sensitivities and irritations in some individuals. That's why I also used a non-exfoliating acid cleanser for the demonstration. So, you could use the acne control cleanser in the AM and a non-exfoliating acid cleanser + gel in the PM.
This video was so helpful tysm!!! My dermatologist gave me benzoyl peroxide to put on in the morning for the big red bumps on my face, I bought the acne control gel to help with all of the forming bumps and other pimples, so I was just wondering how could I incorporate the acne control gel into my routine?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I use a benzoyl peroxide cream. But I haven’t been to the dermatologist in a while and I just realized that it expired a couple months ago 🤦🏻♀️. Would using the expired cream effect my face, if it does I can just stick to the acne control gel.
@@sophiafeken4185 Ok, I wouldn't use the BP cream anymore if it is already expired. Does BP work for your breakouts? If so, I recommend going with it again. So, you can either use a 4%-5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser (and use it in the AM and/or PM) or a cream/gel (but only in the PM). Either use a BP product or go with Salicylic Acid. I wouldn't use both. It's also important to know what's causing your acne in the first place so that you can reduce it or even stop it. Have you ever changed your diet to see if that's the cause of your acne?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I’m pretty sure my acne is mainly hormonal but I do notice slight changes with my diet, but I’m going to stick with salicylic acid for now and see if that works for my breakouts and if I don’t see much changes then I’ll switch to benzoyl peroxide. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks so much dear, for your effort.. 💕 Anyway, maybe I don't catch up all of what you said that's why I have a few questions as below: 1. Why do we use the acne control gel after cleansing as the second step, not after the PM lotion in this routine? 2. Can I change to use the acne control gel after the PM lotion as the third step because when I apply the acne control gel after the cleaning and then PM lotion for the last step , I feel a bit irritated which sometimes I decide to apply more PM lotion to reduce the irritation. So if it cannot, what should I do for this routine? 3. Does acne control gel treat only acne or it can treat acne mark too? * My skin is combination to oily, and acne prone skin which has acne and acne marks. Thanks in advance for your answer.. I believe your answer will help me a lot like your VDO does.. Love you ..
Hello, Because it is an exfoliant, it sheds off dead skin cells, allowing the products that follow to penetrate better and work more effectively. Here's a step-by-step guide for using it: Cleanse your face. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel. If you have sensitive skin, you can wait a few minutes for the skin to further dry. Apply a pea-sized amount of the gel all over your face. Wait 1-2 minutes for it to absorb. Apply moisturizer if needed. However, if you feel that applying the moisturizer before the gel works better for you, you can go ahead and do that. Additionally, this exfoliant can treat acne and acne marks effectively.
@@sunjonh7196 That's the question: It may be less effective as the moisturizer can hinder absorption. However, if you don't tolerate it the other way, you can still use it in that manner. Overall, it would be better to use another gentler formulation or wait until you have finished the gel, allowing you to use it the other way around and receive more benefits.
Hello Melissa. Thanks a lot for your informative videos. Can I use cerave blemish control cleanser with a retinol at night ? can I use the same cleanser in the morning ? and does the blemish control cleanser help reduce blackheads if I don't use the cerave acne control gel?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I'm using la roche posay retinol B3 every night. I've been using it for almost 6 months. I don't suffer from any sensitivity due to the daily use of retinol so far. I have a combo skin and my T zone is really full of blackheads. I clean and moisturize (cerave products) twice a day + retinol at night
@@meryemaattouri8673 Do you use the CeraVe moisturizing cream or lotion? Because that is often the issue in oilier parts, and it only increases your blackheads. Also, it is best to extract the blackheads with a tool and, after that, just use the retinol on these parts without moisturizing or only use a light hydrating serum (hyaluronic acid or toner) before using the retinol if you really need it. Most reviews are fake/not honest, and some even say it suits acne. It is a popular/bestseller product; therefore, people push it. But it is NOT helpful for oilier parts around the chin or cheeks when dry; it would be something to consider, but avoid it at all costs on the oilier blackhead or acne-prone areas! The issue with the CeraVe SA cleansers is the formulation; it is particularly drying when used too often, and twice a day is too much. It works with La Roche Posay or The Inkey List SA cleansers, but after using the Acne/Blemish control cleanser for some time, it really feels tight and dry, which should not be the case.

Hey! :) Yes, you can use that cleanser. Do you use sunscreen and/or makeup during the day? Is it stubborn to remove? If yes, you can do a double cleanse using an oil or balm cleanser before using your dermalogica cleanser. If not, there is no double cleansing needed.

This depends on what causes your sensitive skin in the first place because this gel contains Glycolic Acid, which can sting on sensitive skin. I recommend looking into Lactic or Mandelic Acid instead.
Well, it contains AHA and BHA, which are exfoliating acids. How much of the product did you apply, and which cleanser did you use? Also, do you have sensitive skin?
Hey, I have dry and acne prone skin. So as of now I use Cerave hydrating cleanser, Cerave resurfacing retinol and Cerave moisturizing cream for both AM and PM. This routine helped healing the skin flaking and dryness but not much with acne and blemishes. What do I do? I’m afraid if I completely shift to acne prevention products I might get flaking again. Can I use hydrating cleanser and Moisturizing cream with the acne control gel?
Hmm, for better improvement, you might consider using a potent retinol product, like Good Molecules 0.1% Retinol Cream or even Differin Gel. Additionally, Benzoyl Peroxide can be effective for targeted acne treatment. However, since you have dry, acne-prone skin, these treatments might not work as well for you. What also helped me significantly was changing my diet. I try to avoid preservatives, additives, and processed food as much as possible. This definitely makes a significant difference for me, so I'd suggest looking into dietary changes as well, and not solely relying on treatments. To answer your question, yes, you can use the hydrating cleanser and moisturizing cream along with the acne control gel. However, regarding the frequency and tolerance, you'll need to test it out as it depends on your personal skin tolerances.

Hey! I’d love to try this routine, but my dermatologist said that I need to use retinol, salicylic acid and niacinsmide. How can I add them to the routine from your video?
So, CeraVe's Acne Gel (and Cleanser) contain 2% of Salicylic Acid. You can use an SA Cleanser (or Gentle Cleanser), Niacinamide and Salicylic Acid Gel + Sunscreen in the AM and Gentle Cleanser and Retinol in the PM.
If Im at home. Do I need to wash my face again to put on the acne gel control in the afternoon? Im not going anywhere so I won’t be having moisturizer or sun block on.

Hello Mel, I hope you are not using them together, but you can create multiple routines while using these products. However, I suggest keeping it simple like this: AM: Cleanser CeraVe Acne Control Gel SPF if exposed to the sun PM: Cleanser (Gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type) Differin (Start with every other day and gradually increase frequency to daily use) Optional your moisturizer That should help you
Hi I have oily acne prone sensitive skin which routine would be better for me AM Cerave foaming cleanser Cerave Moisturising lotion SPF PM Cerave Acne control cleanser Cerave acne control gel Cerave Moisturising Lotion OR AM Cerave acne control cleanser Cerave moisturising lotion SPF PM Cerave foaming cleanser Cerave acne control gel Cerave moisturising lotion Also alternating nights with the ordinary retinol 0.2% in squalane
What SPF do you use? Because usually they are already very hydrating and you do not need to use anything else before so I would go with this one: AM Cerave acne control cleanser SPF PM Cerave foaming cleanser Cerave acne control gel Cerave moisturising lotion
How often do you use them? 🤔 Because if you overuse them, then the frequency is too much, and you need to reduce it. Now, you could simply stop using these products for several days and let your skin recover, using a mild cleanser. After that, you can use them less often during the week; for example, the gel 2x and the cleanser 3x, while always alternating with a gentle foaming cleanser. I would recommend something like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser or Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser (very hydrating but still working well for normal to oily skin types). That should solve the problem. But the most important thing is giving the skin enough time to recover now.
I started using the acne foam cleanser and cleared whiteheads and used the resurfacing retinol, skin looks good but now the acne scars I got my papule pimples back, just started using the acne control cleanser and gel routine and will try to clear the blemishes up, should I continue using the acne foaming cleanser w the retinol routine or stick to the acne control gel routine to clear the papule bumps up or switch between the other each week? Btw I have oily skin and moisture w ceraves moisturizers daily, skin without acne on it looks glowy and good just the acne and red bumps that need to go away(on my 3rd week of cerave use)
I was thinking: All CERAVE AM: Acne control cleanser then gel Hydrating acid serum AM moisturize PM: Acne foam cleanser (BP) Resurfacing Retinol Hydrating acid serum PM moisturize The acne scars seemed to fade but got the red bumps after only using the PM routine but for both AM and PM for a week and after a couple days of using the designated AM routine, the red bumps on my acne scars seemed to flatten and dissolve which seems that both work lol just wondering if using my routine for both would really have any negative effects
Hey! 😊 The routine you've listed can work; however, it overall depends on your skin's tolerance and how often you're following this routine. Using these products too frequently can sometimes be excessive. You might consider using the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser instead, especially in the AM before applying the exfoliating acid gel.

My husband most often does not use any moisturizer at all, which works best for his oily skin. Oil regulating serums such as Niacinamide or Azelaic Acid can also work great. Anyway, NIOD Hydration Vaccine is probably the best you can use. Another one would be Paula's Choice Water-Infusing Electrolyte Moisturizer.
Not sure if anyone of you will see this but the simple light hydrating moisturiser is a life saver for oily skin!!!! And it’s like £2 as well! So cheap and so good!
How do you use The Blemish Control Cleanser Gel for Pores? Do you apply it on wetskin leave it like that, or you massage on wetskin and after 1-2minutes u wash it off?

I recommend using one of the products as both are potent and contain BHA. To avoid over-exfoliation, I suggest avoiding their use at the same time or on the same day.
I suggest getting sunscreen to use during the day. To protect the skin, especially if you have a lot of sun exposure, as otherwise, the dark spots take much longer to heal.
Hey! Please respond when you have time❤I have been having these irritating bumps on my forehead. When I don't wash my face as much (only at night) they go away but then I get acne on cheeks. This is my routine: Am: Warm water Clinique clarifying exfoliating lotion Clinique moisture Pm: Clinique dry combination wash Clinique moisturizer Wait till dry then add differin I have been dealing with the same acne and I'm becoming really sad about it. Do not use "Clinique clarifying exfoliating lotion" and "Clinique moisture". That will help. And use lukewarm water to wash your face. Am: Warm water (Sunscreen if exposed to the sun) Pm: Clinique dry combination wash differin

Hello! So I just had a question, is it alright to use my cerave daily moisturizing lotion over my acne control gel? I’ve been wondering this for a while and this is the first time I’ve used cerave products.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I have super dry skin, that’s why u use it. But I don’t want to make my face worse than what it is. Thank you so much by the way.
@@lesliemelodyrose365 That's a tricky skin type and condition you have. Not sure how that will perform. I suggest that you test it; if it does not work well, change it to another moisturizer. You really need to try it for yourself, and I can't help you much there 😕
I’m so confused. I did the test on Cerave website & for my acne prone/oily skin I was recommended to use the Acne Control Gel. Somehow I bought both the gel & serum. Can I use the gel & the Resurfacing Retinol Serum together or …? I want to keep my routine simple. I use the Foaming Cream cleanser.
You can theoretically use them together as both have a very gentle formulation. However, suppose you are new to them. In that case, I recommend using both in the evening but on different days to see how your skin tolerates them individually before using them together. So: AM: - Cleanser - Sunscreen PM 1: - Cleanser - Resurfacing Serum - (Optional) Moisturizer -> Although the serum should be hydrating enough. PM 2: - Cleanser - Gel - (Optional) Moisturizer If you have oily skin, you can skip the moisturizer in general.
If you apply it in the morning, leave it on until the evening and then rinse it off with your cleanser. And if you use it in the evening, leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the evening.
@@oddzzyy5649 You don't have to use a moisturiser at all (depending on your skin type). However, yes, you can just follow with a 'normal' moisturiser afterwards :)
Hmm, technically it could work. However, practically speaking, it's best to extract the milia. Consider visiting an esthetician if possible. Additionally, it's important to determine what caused them in the first place to prevent them from returning!
i use this gel all over my face, should i apply it on damp skin beacuse when i dry my skin completely the product is difficult to spread. (before the gel i use the serozinc from la roche posay)
Damp skin is when the skin has absorbed some water but has been dried off on the skin's surface. If water drops on the skin's surface, apply it to wet skin. And no, it is not recommended to apply to wet skin. But it should spread easily, as it is a gel which contains mainly water. (as shown in the video) so I wonder whether you have dry skin? Or what cleanser are you using 🤔 How to Apply Skincare on Damp Skin?: ruclips.net/video/xNUUUr81rLE/видео.html
hii! i have been using CeraVe acne foaming cream cleanser for a few weeks now (with no moisturizer bc the first time i tried the daily moisturizer lotion my face got hot and red/ felt uncomfortable) every morning and night after slowly getting my skin used to it. i do plan to buy the am and pm moisturizers soon and try those! i just got the acne control gel and was wondering if it’d be okay with my specific cleanser (considering u didn’t mention it in the video and it’s got a treatment of it’s own)??? i did research but came up empty handed and am hoping you’d have input.
I think it is not a good idea to use the gel after the foaming cleanser, even though some dubious sources say so. I have tried such combinations in the past; sooner or later, it irritates the skin and may cause barrier damage. So I suggest not using them together. And I think it would be best to use a retinoid/retinol. For example like this: How to use Panoxyl Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser and Differin Gel for Acne-Prone Skin: ruclips.net/video/nu1Wo9O_6e0/видео.html You could also do the same with the gel ;)

@@domy0849 So, you can try using a Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser-just apply it where you get acne. It's also advisable to figure out the root cause of your acne.

I'm 16 from nigeria can i use acne control cleanser and acne control gel and recommend a good skin care routine for me .i have an oily skin but during the day i have combinatin skin and i have dark spots.please i need your help.
Hey! 😊
Well, you can follow the example routine as I've mentioned in the video.
Thank you so much this made it less confusing to do!
You're welcome!
Thank you:)
If I use the Acne Control Gel only in the evening routine, do I have to apply sunscreen after cleansing in the morning routine?(I have oily and acne prone skin.)
However, it's very challenging to determine the exact cause as it depends on individual skin tolerance, sensitivities, and personal preferences for what you like wearing on your skin.
am i using my products in the correct order? and do i wait until the acne control gel dries before putting on my other products? (sorry for all caps)

Hey! 😊
The order of application looks good; however, I think that this can become quite irritating because you want to use two exfoliating acid products in the same routine + on the same day.
Correct! :)

Please I have a very sensitive oily skin
And I want to try cerave for the first time
I got the acne control cleanser and the blemish control gel and also the mosturizers for both pm and am and also retinol
Please is this too much for my skin do handle
For the first time and please is it safe to use the cleanser and the control gel together
Here's a sample routine:
AM:
Cleanse face with a gentle foaming cleanser.
Pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply moisturizer or moisturizer with sunscreen, depending on your daily activities and sun exposure.
PM1 (2-3 times a week):
Cleanse face with a gentle foaming cleanser.
Pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply retinol.
Wait 2-3 minutes.
Apply moisturizer.
PM2 (1-2 times a week):
Cleanse face with a gentle foaming cleanser.
Pat dry with a clean towel.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much I'll try this and see the results

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I Have the niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% mineral

@@LouieCollins-p3q I suggest getting another foaming cleanser such as CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, or even the new The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, and then alternate to avoid irritation. Also, a light moisturizer or hyaluronic acid serum may be beneficial.
So, you could do the following:
AM:
Clean your face with one of the cleansers suggested above.
Pat dry.
Apply a niacinamide serum.
Wait for 30-60 seconds.
Use sunscreen when exposed to the sun (as you are using these exfoliating acid products, making your skin sensitive to the sun).
PM 1:
Clean your face with one of the cleansers suggested above.
Pat dry.
Apply the blemish control gel.
Wait for 1-2 minutes.
Apply a hyaluronic acid serum or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan.
PM 2:
Clean your face with CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser.
Pat dry.
Apply a hyaluronic acid serum or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan.
This routine should work well. However, keep in mind that overusing these acids can lead to more irritation, so moderation is key. 🙃
Great video! I have a question, can you use the resurfacing retinol serum after cleansing with the new acne control cleanser? Can those two be paired?

Yes of course :)
hi, i come across your videos every time i buy cerave products. can i use the cerave acne foaming cream wash (10% benzoyl peroxide) with the acne control gel?
No, that combination is too strong and may cause sensitivities over time. Use them on different days, and adjust the amounts according to your personal skin tolerance.
I dont have a skincare routine or cleanser can i still use it
No, you have to clean the face before using it, otherwise it will not properly penetrate or cause breakouts.
Thank you ♡
But I have a question: I have oily skin with little acne and I use the blemish control cleanser and acne control gel. Do I also have to use a moisturizer after applying these 2? (Remember I have oily skin)
No, you can use them on their own :)
Thanks for the clarification! I have been cleansing, then moisturizing, and then using the gel during the night. will I get better results if I use the gel before the moisturizer?
If you do not have sensitive/dry skin, you do not need to use anything before or after.
Cleanse
Differin Gel
But nobody really knows this since there are no studies. So you could still see the same results. But if you use a moisturizer before or something that buffers it, it will penetrate slower into the skin, making it more tolerable. Still, there is also the concern that your pores may get clogged and that it reduces its efficacy. But nobody tested it yet 😉
Hello Melissa! I have a question. Can i use Cerave Acne Control cleanser then use acne control gel and then use the ultra-light moisturizing gel?
If your skin tolerates it, yes. However, using the acne control cleanser and gel in the same routine and using them too often may also cause sensitivities and irritations in some individuals. That's why I also used a non-exfoliating acid cleanser for the demonstration. So, you could use the acne control cleanser in the AM and a non-exfoliating acid cleanser + gel in the PM.

Hello,
Because it is an exfoliant, it sheds off dead skin cells, allowing the products that follow to penetrate better and work more effectively.
Here's a step-by-step guide for using it:
Cleanse your face.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thanks so much ❤️
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet So if I change to use the acne control gel at the last step ( after PM lotion) , is it still effective?
@@sunjonh7196 That's the question: It may be less effective as the moisturizer can hinder absorption. However, if you don't tolerate it the other way, you can still use it in that manner. Hello Melissa. Thanks a lot for your informative videos. Can I use cerave blemish control cleanser with a retinol at night ? can I use the same cleanser in the morning ? and does the blemish control cleanser help reduce blackheads if I don't use the cerave acne control gel?
Hey! :)
What Retinol do you use?
How well do you tolerate your Retinol? Because the concern is that it can lead to dryness and possibly sensitivity.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I'm using la roche posay retinol B3 every night. I've been using it for almost 6 months. I don't suffer from any sensitivity due to the daily use of retinol so far. I have a combo skin and my T zone is really full of blackheads. I clean and moisturize (cerave products) twice a day + retinol at night
however I don't see any improvement regarding blackheads and occasional breakouts. that's why I wanna try the new cleanser (acne control)
I'm also thinking about trying cicaplast balm B5 to use as a moisturizer at night after retinol. I've seen a bunch of good reviews about this balm.

Yes, you can use that cleanser.

Hello i have a dry and sensitive skin. Can i apply this gel on my face?
This depends on what causes your sensitive skin in the first place because this gel contains Glycolic Acid, which can sting on sensitive skin. I recommend looking into Lactic or Mandelic Acid instead.
I just got mine but my first trial on my skin seemed like it was burning it, so I had to wash it off. Please I would love to know why?
Thank you!
Which of the above mentioned ( good molecule, differin, cerave acne control gel) do you suggest?

I still suggest avoiding any exfoliating acids in the same routine as retinol.
So AHA (Glycolic, Lactic Acid), BHA(Salicylic Acid)and PHA Toners or Serums.
So a routine could look like this:
PM1 (Rest of the week):
Clean face

CeraVe Gel
PM2 (2-3 times a week):

Retinol
AM (Daily):
Clean Face

Hello! I have a question, I plan on incorporating this product into my skincare routine. I have recently added several new products into my skincare routine and I was wondering if you could check to see if this product would balance out with the others.

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Cream
Differin Acne Treatment Adapalene Gel
The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin
The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide
CeraVe Acne Control Gel
Cosrx All in One Moisturizer
Do you think with all the products that it would be too stripping?
Hello Mel,
I hope you are not using them together, but you can create multiple routines while using these products. However, I suggest keeping it simple like this:
AM:
Cleanser
CeraVe Acne Control Gel
SPF if exposed to the sun
PM:
Cleanser (Gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type)
Differin (Start with every other day and gradually increase frequency to daily use)
Optional your moisturizer
That should help you
Hi I have oily acne prone sensitive skin which routine would be better for me
AM
Cerave foaming cleanser
Cerave Moisturising lotion
SPF
PM
Cerave Acne control cleanser
Cerave acne control gel
Cerave Moisturising Lotion
OR
AM
Cerave acne control cleanser
Cerave moisturising lotion
SPF
PM
Cerave foaming cleanser
Cerave acne control gel
Cerave moisturising lotion
Also alternating nights with the ordinary retinol 0.2% in squalane
What SPF do you use? Because usually they are already very hydrating and you do not need to use anything else before so I would go with this one:
AM
Cerave acne control cleanser
SPF
PM
Cerave foaming cleanser
Cerave acne control gel
Cerave moisturising lotion
I use the Eucerin oil control spf. Would this be a routine I would be able to use everyday?
hmm, not tried that one so not sure 🤣 try both ways ;)
i use the same products ur using but mine burns alot whenever i put it on why?
I was thinking:
All CERAVE
AM:
Acne control cleanser then gel
Hydrating acid serum
AM moisturize
PM: Acne foam cleanser (BP)
Resurfacing Retinol
Hydrating acid serum
PM moisturize
The acne scars seemed to fade but got the red bumps after only using the PM routine but for both AM and PM for a week and after a couple days of using the designated AM routine, the red bumps on my acne scars seemed to flatten and dissolve which seems that both work lol just wondering if using my routine for both would really have any negative effects
Hey! 😊
The routine you've listed can work; however, it overall depends on your skin's tolerance and how often you're following this routine. Using these products too frequently can sometimes be excessive. You might consider using the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser instead, especially in the AM before applying the exfoliating acid gel.

Hello Naz,
I have, but they are more expensive 😕 I haven't found any good "affordable" moisturizer for oily skin.

Yes, however not in the same routine, and it may not even be needed because both contain 2% Salicylic Acid so just go with one.

So:
AM:
- Cleanser
- Sunscreen
PM 1:
- Cleanser
- Resurfacing Serum
- (Optional) Moisturizer -> Although the serum should be hydrating enough.
PM 2:
- Cleanser
- Gel
- (Optional) Moisturizer
If you have oily skin, you can skip the moisturizer in general.
For how long do i leave the gel on ?
If you apply it in the morning, leave it on until the evening and then rinse it off with your cleanser. And if you use it in the evening, leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the evening.
Can I use a .5% salicylic acid moisturizer after using the gel?

Damp skin is when the skin has absorbed some water but has been dried off on the skin's surface. If water drops on the skin's surface, apply it to wet skin. And no, it is not recommended to apply to wet skin.
But it should spread easily, as it is a gel which contains mainly water. (as shown in the video) so I wonder whether you have dry skin? Or what cleanser are you using 🤔
