Ironically, when I was first diagnosed with severe eczema at age 26, pg was in the steroid cream I was prescribed, triamcinalone (sp?). That sent me on quite a journey (2 years) to figure out why my itching couldn’t be quelled by steroid creams, and only kept getting worse.
The acne gel is the best spot treatment I've ever used! Clears up active pimples overnight and gets even better by the 2nd day. Also works lovely as a once or twice a week chemical exfoliator! I hope it's doing well on the market so it will stick around because it's truly awesome to have all those nice actives, and considering how much you'd pay for Paula's Choice, etc. that have the exact same actives, $17 really isn't that bad, and you really don't need that much to feel it working. A little skincare tip when using foaming cleanser, use a small amount, apply some water to it and work it up into a foam before washing the face with the foam. Switching to Cera Ve years ago helped with my acne and many other things I wasn't focusing on. They got the core formula right, and they use it in all their products. Too many times I have had to compromise one ingredient for another in other brands, which are usually expensive. Cera Ve is worth the price!

this is purely anecdotal but my mom uses a cuticle oil on her nails (she makes her own with jojoba oil + vitamin E!) and I've noticed that ever since she started doing that her nails are much smoother to the touch! So maybe hydration is part of the answer?
I use CeraVe's daily moisturizer morning and night. Love it. Does CeraVe have a product to help treat melasma? I haven't started the 4%hydroquinone my doctor prescribed yet. I'm kind of nervous to try it. Looking for other options.
Paula’s Choice has a SA cleanser that is lower than 2%. It’s supposed to be less drying than 2% so people with dry skin can use it daily. It’s the CLEAR line. I haven’t tried it but I am thinking about using it for morning cleanse. I bought the travel size to give it a try before buying the full size.
2% is best for acne skin because this is the percentage at which it effectively clears out pores, reduces oil, and prevents and reduces PIE. Less than 2% SA is pretty much only anti-inflammatory.
@@jessie9653 I think they will keep both. The old one is more for everyday. The new one will probably act more as a treatment to use a couple of times a week or instead of exfoliating toner.
There are two ways to treat acne breakout. Using skincare to eliminate bacteria and calm skin is one way which almost everyone are doing with varying degree of success. Another method is to address the problem at its root by treating the hormonal level change which can be done by using medications or simply getting enough rest and managing stress level so as not to trigger out acne outbreak. I found out that solely relying on skincare is not a foolproof way to clear skin. Taking some steps to made a bit of changes in lifestyle, diet and mood management work hand in hand together with skincare to bring about clear glowing skin over time.
I grabbed the 4% benzoyl peroxide cleanser at Ulta over the weekend because my 9 year olds have started getting tiny breakouts. Within two days blackheads were significantly improved! 🙌

Maybe make sure to apply a hyaluronic acid cream to a damp face, straight after cleansing (to hold in hydration). When it's absorbed, then apply your oil free moisturiser. I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream as my hyaluronic acid cream. I have only skin and I'm OK using the one for dry skin. @@jessie9653 The two cleansers have nearly identical ingredients list. However, their new acne control cleanser has a greater concentration of salicylic acid which I prefer. I will be purchasing the new cleanser.
You are correct, the Cerave SA Cream is a much better value; however, it is much thicker and so more difficult to place in a multi step routine. It is the proper pH and a BHA (which is oil soluble) so technically should go on your skin first after cleansing (unless you're using a lower pH vitamin C serum), but it might cause pilling or be too thick and rich for any toners/serums/lotions you'd want to put on after. But if you like an all in one-type product, this would be great (that's why it's primarily marketed for use on the body). The Cerave SA Lotion is not the proper pH and so not nearly as effective as the cream. We are unsure of the acne gel's pH as of yet, but it does seem as if it's the proper pH for exfoliation. So it really comes down to which delivery system you prefer.
I was wondering how this might compare to Cetaphil's new salicylic acid cream cleanser. I bought that and LOVE it. But debated with myself over which one to get.
Cetaphil has fragrance and that's an irritant. Dermatologists always recommended products free of fragrance. Even dr dray says not to use fragrance on the face.

I want to try this cerave product, but have had a strange reaction to the foaming cleanser and moisturizer (cerave). It leaves a waxy sensation on my skin, is it because of the ceramides? Switching to Cera Ve years ago helped with my acne and many other things I wasn't focusing on. They got the core formula right, and they use it in all their products. Too many times I have had to compromise one ingredient for another in other brands, which are usually expensive. Cera Ve is worth the price!
I love that Cerave is launching new products. Thanks for featuring these❤
I’ve been using azaelic acid as a treatment to help with my acne and hyperpigmentation because benzoyl peroxide tends to give me contact dermatitis. I’m excited to have something else to try out, as my skin tends to do ok with salicylic acid. This looks promising and I did not know about it!
Have you tried it? If so, what was your results?
@@Kiki-AndBeyond I actually didn’t try it. My skin cleared up pretty well with a simple hydrating cleanser and moisturizer, a long with incorporating azaelic acid when I had breakouts and the cerave resurfacing retinol at night.
@@fluorescentjas Thank you. What brand of Azaelic acid did you use?
@@Kiki-AndBeyond you’re welcome. I used the one by the ordinary. I heard good things about the one from Paula’s Choice too. Also Naturium makes one and they’re at Target, but I haven’t heard much about it.
The control gel is great. Works on the body too.
🌸 Question Dr Dray: how should, those of us over 50, treat the ridges on our nails? I know part of it is normal aging. Thanks.
this is purely anecdotal but my mom uses a cuticle oil on her nails (she makes her own with jojoba oil + vitamin E!) and I've noticed that ever since she started doing that her nails are much smoother to the touch! So maybe hydration is part of the answer?
@@jennymallow Thank you
Ridges are a result of Vitamin B deficiency. Dr Dray did a video on it.
@@Wanderful1 Thank you
I use CeraVe's daily moisturizer morning and night. Love it. Does CeraVe have a product to help treat melasma? I haven't started the 4%hydroquinone my doctor prescribed yet. I'm kind of nervous to try it. Looking for other options.
Thank you for discussing other patients who can benefit, exactly what I was after!
@@carpediemearth i used the 2% and it burned so bad, so i switched back to the renewing sa cleanser
Was happy to hear the gel helps with milia, the review was very helpful.
But also the old SA cleanser only has 0.5% Salicylic acid.
I wonder if this is replacing the SA cleanser or are they still going to have both
@@jessie9653 I think they will keep both. The old one is more for everyday. The new one will probably act more as a treatment to use a couple of times a week or instead of exfoliating toner.
Cerave doesn’t disclose the % we don’t know
That's the European version w smoothing in the title... TheAmerican has 2% (renewing SA cleanser)
I haven’t been able to find the old one!! It’s out at my target, Walmart and Walgreens!
Loving the cerave acne cleanser it’s really working on my acne also doesn’t make my skin oily
Do you use it 2 times a day?
@@technoMinded90 yeah morning and night
@@Vampybattiedid you use cerave gel after cleansing?
I grabbed the 4% benzoyl peroxide cleanser at Ulta over the weekend because my 9 year olds have started getting tiny breakouts. Within two days blackheads were significantly improved! 🙌
That's so awesome! I have two kids and I'm excited for the day they use face washes and treatments on their own. I know a fair bit and Doctor Dray has really helped me simplify my own routine!!
@@darbirhian just curious what do you use for body wash for acne for your kids . Something for back acne ?
@@moniquem9609 I would use a Salicylic Acid or BP face wash or body wash. If they were teens, I would look into an AHA body cream to spot treat instead.
@@darbirhian thanks so much for taking the time to reply
Salicylic acid always drys out my face, even in a wash off cleanser. I do use the Paulas choice BHA exfoliant, but I only use it once a week.
right? it dries me like CRAZY. worse than benzoyl.
Try Inkey List’s salicylic acid cleanser!
Dr. Dray recommends putting actives over moisturizers to cause less irritation and (I would assume be less drying). Can't do this with cleansers of course though.
Maybe try AHA's like she mentioned. They are water loving but won't strip your oils out. I LOVE glycolic and lactic acids. They seriously heal up acne so well.
@@lauren8627 Thank you for sharing. What glycolic and lactic acids do you use? I’m curious
Should I use the blemish control gel in the evening then wash it in the morning?
Your breakdown sounds very promising and I have high expectations
Good morning to you, your mom and Tybee! Thanks for the content.
Good morning!
I’ve been using this wrong but now thanks to her I can use it correctly
Can you please explain the difference with this cleanser vs the acne foaming cream cleanser 🙏 love your advice
Hopefully the benzoyl peroxide cleanser will be bumped up to 8 oz. instead of 5.
That would be awesome
I agree! This would be great.
And in a pump! Don’t like the tube. Too tall & easily falls over, not to mention the screw off top. I mean, ???
Just about to run out of my cerave SA cleanser so I’m excited to switch over to this and give it a try :) I really like that the percentage is actually listed.
Have you tried it? Can you tell me about your experience?
I used a face epilator and ever since I’ve been having breakouts on my skin and now I have acne, mainly under my chin! I will use this and see if it helps. I’ve always had pretty good skin and now I’m so annoyed at myself for ruining my skin with the epilator 😩
So how do you use something like this, if you are already using something like Differen?
You don’t
My husband has requested that I ask you to review products marketed toward men (in one easy to find video 😋)
Skin is skin, no matter the sex of the person!
Trash! If the products are marketed towards a certain gender they're probably bad 😂 it's a gimmick
@@Latte-girly90 I know this and he does too. It was more that he was curious
@@tamerebel It’s true! And he knows that too. He’s just curious because he has fun buying from Dollar Shave Club and that stuff seems to be marketed toward “men.”

It's the necklace for me, not the cerave. Love the big necklace❣

This feels like such an under-the-radar release for CeraVe. It’s been four months since you made this video, and I just heard of the cleanser because I searched for salicylic products at Ulta. Of course, I immediately checked whether you’d made a video about it 🙃
What is the meaning of under the radar.
@@SarahalaniIt means that something went unnoticed. In this case, it would be the new products from CeraVe.
@exoticcats6119 thanks❤️❤️
This is so helpful I was wondering about their new products!
I've been using the CeraVe SA cleanser on my scalp for seb derm and it works so good I'm hoping the new reformulated version works the same
I used original amber listerine on my scalp used cotton swabs to apply combed it through my scalp & took off all the dryness/scales (Ik sounds gross) I’d re apply often and let it soak on my scalp also kept it on over night a few times it burned like a Mf but my scalp and everywhere else is completely cleared now , I had seb derm for a long time only my scalp, face, neck ,ears & every time I stopped the topical creams my dermatologist gave me it came right back until I tried the listerine! If I got any spots irritating me I put the listerine on it and it went away . It’s been almost 5 years clear 🙏 I only use the whole blends honey shampoo/ conditioner too . Switching my s/c to that made a big difference.
How how?
Would the gel be good for reducing sebaceous filaments?
i use these products both daily, as recommended, and it they have helped my breakouts but not stopped them but then again i am very hormonal so that could be the reason i break out a lot. idk what skin type i have i think its dry or combination or dehydrated. they are good and i feel very clean but i feel like its not enough for me personally.
I started using the lotion for my back hopefully it works
I’m sitting in the parking lot after my dermatology appointment literally right now. Might have to look into this

Hi James! Either way is fine with me, but Dr Dray puts so much effort into uploading everyday, that I think that she is giving herself too much extra work. Although she does have a great profile!

@@nadab4750 I agree, she could literally just do a podcast and I'd listen to it everyday. Like her skincare philosophy, I don't need anything fancy.
@@alysa6642 Agree. Regular angle = just fine. KISS motto applies. ;)
@@alysa6642 That may be good for you but wont work with other people
I love CeraVe products! But the last new acne wash didn't work for me at all. It made my skin very dry & made my acne worse. I stopped it & went back to the foaming cleanser... I wonder how this product will be 🤔
Maybe make sure to apply a hyaluronic acid cream to a damp face, straight after cleansing (to hold in hydration). When it's absorbed, then apply your oil free moisturiser. I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream as my hyaluronic acid cream. I have only skin and I'm OK using the one for dry skin. Ì prefer it (rather than the tegular) because it is fragrance free... which is preferable when it's leave-on product.

Same here most of cera ve products don’t work on my skin I don’t know why, I just stick to Vani cream or cetaphil
Anyone being negative about the angles is a complainer 🙄😂 ty for the video🤍
Glad to see % SA on this cleanser, trying both
Don’t you think the Cerave SA line is a better value? It can treat the same conditions and it is cheaper.
there is no leave on product in that line
@@DrDrayzday Hmm. I was considering the SA Lotion or SA Cream to be leave on products.
@@noneofbusiness7739 I was wondering the same thing...I can't live without the SA cream. I may shed a 😿 tear if it's ever discontinued 😂 I'm also using the SA cleanser as a shampoo for seb derm on my scalp. It's really works
So it really comes down to which delivery system you prefer.
which is a good cleanser that helps with blackheads over time
I was wondering how this might compare to Cetaphil's new salicylic acid cream cleanser. I bought that and LOVE it. But debated with myself over which one to get.
Great question?
👱♀️❤
Same
Compare the ingredients. Cerave to me has better ingredients than the cetaphil
Cetaphil has fragrance and that's an irritant. Dermatologists always recommended products free of fragrance. Even dr dray says not to use fragrance on the face.
I thought that the helpful peeps may answer that way!

We need more Cerave products in Germany (EU).
Hey, eventuell weißt du das schon, aber in einigen Apotheken kann man CeraVe bei uns kaufen, ansonsten bestellen die einem auch gerne die Produkte. Thank you Dr.Dray! Is sodium Choloride bad in Shampoos and body washes?
Not at all
they all work wonderfully for back acne! love ur advice, the sa cleanser did irritate my eyes. while the lotion formula of the acne line w/ benzoyl peroxide cleanser is pretty gentle
Please review the new acne products from Cetaphil!!!
I’ve been using the cleanser and I LOVE it. I rarely repurchase any skin care I purchase aside from anything vanicream and I will definitely be repurchasing the cetaphil cleanser 😩
Should I purchase this Cerave gel or the Paula’s choice Aba Bha product. Or buy all these acids separate and apply?
this line is new to me. I’m a medical aesthetician in a dermatology office and I’m looking forward to recommending these products to my patients😊
I actually learned of Cerave from my derm years ago. He recommended the moisturizer and I've used it ever since. It's wonderful
Lmao estheticians* are jokes
Is this cleanser good for very sensitive skin and is it oil free and won’t clog your pores
I want to try this cerave product, but have had a strange reaction to the foaming cleanser and moisturizer (cerave). It leaves a waxy sensation on my skin, is it because of the ceramides? Someone else happens? i switched to a eucerin foam cleanser and the waxy feeling on my face lessened a bit after i put on the cream.
i believe clinique has something similar for less expensive, 3 oz for maybe $40
A couple days ago I bought the SA cleanser and was so peeved when I saw on their website that they released this new one lol
Aren't they the same, just rebranded?

@@kweeenk3391 I'm trying to figure that out. I hope they still sell the SA cleanser I use it to wash my hair. It really helps with my seb dermatitis on my scalp
Mee too😢
I used the SA for my face. It is probably very similar. They don't disclose percentage of SA though
What i like about this cleanser that is doesn’t have any oil. The SA renewal one does contain oil
Which one has better ingredients from the cerave control and the Cetaphil salicylic cleanser?
Where I live this acne control contains 4% benzol peroxide. Dosent have salicylic acid. What is the difference?
BP kills causing bacteria it doesn’t exfoliate
Read carefully if the ingredients. Wish Dr. Dray and others would discuss those ingredients to look out for.
Allergic reaction
I believe I’m one of those that have an allergic reaction to a particular preservative called Phenoxyethanol. Now there may be others, but this is a preservative that is also in the PM Facial Moisturizing lotion. I did not have this reaction to the AM moisturizer which does not have Phenoxyethanol. I only used it one time. I’m very dissatisfied to say the least.
