This is honestly so true when I started I had no clue what to do leave it on my face wash it off put moisturizer on or anything this video was so helpful especially because I’m more of a visual learner
You can actually leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. I’ve personally been leaving it on for 10 minutes since the benzoyl peroxide doesn’t give my skin a bad reaction. This stuff works great. Be patient though if it doesn’t seem like it’s working at first. It takes about 8 weeks to get FULL results and for your acne to be completely gone. The first couple weeks might seem like your acne’s actually getting worse, but it’s not. You may experience white heads, but this is because your skin is purging out all the bacteria from your pores, which again.. will “look” like it’s getting worse at first, but that’s just cause the bacteria has risen to the surface before it’s ready to come out. 10 out of 10. Just be consistent with it and try not to miss any days of using this product.
Yeah, but I wouldn't use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser on the skin for that long. In that case, a benzoyl peroxide cream or gel may be more helpful. Still, getting to the root cause of your acne is important so that it doesn't return after you stop using the treatment. I've been experimenting with this approach, and so far, I can tell you that it's very likely diet-related because I don't use any skincare products on my face whatsoever. I just changed my diet, and my skin has never looked this good! :) See here: www.youtube.com/@MelissaVanDijkOfficial/community
Wow! This is a very good video, thank you so much! I'm new with Cerave's products (just bought them yesterday lol) and watching videos like this really help me
Today I used it for the first time and it went into my eyes. The only thing that I can say is NEVER TAKE IT NEAR YOUR EYES. It hurts sooo bad. update: it's been 12 hours since it went into my eyes. i rinsed it a lot and it still stings a little bit.

How did you use it? What percentage of Benzoyl Peroxide do you use? How much did you apply? Did you apply it all over your face or just to a specific area? What other products do you use? Is this your first time using a Benzoyl Peroxide product?
Thank you for your very detailed videos. I'm in my 50s and have acne prone oily skin with very large pores and hyperpigmentation mainly around my cheeks. I just started using this cleanser. After washing, I use a toner with hyaluronic acid before applying niacinamide and then my moisturiser. Is this routine okay??
Thanks for your reply. I use the cerave ultra light moisturising lotion because of the sunscreen. As a Nigerian sunscreen has never been my "thing" but reading up and listening to so many people talk about the benefit of sunscreen, that's why I decided to give it a try. But I found out that I react to the ones I've bought and more importantly, they leave an unsightly white film on my face! Any recommendations on sunscreen for a girl of colour so I can ditch the moisturiser??

I have the 10% Acne Foaming Cream Wash. I started today June 13th, and left it on my chest for 7 minutes before washing it off on the shiwer. I didn’t have any negative sensitivity effects. But is this recommended? Or should i only leave it on for 3 minutes, is that enough for it to work ? 🤔
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Imagine being in the shower for 15 minutes 😅 I appreciate your confirmation that 3 minutes is good. I thought it should be enough to penetrate the skin. Plus like you said everyone should be on lookout for sensitivity effects and act accordingly. I really enjoyed your video. Thank you.
At night, I use the CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser. I gently massage it onto my wet face and rinse it off after 2 to 3 minutes. After washing my face, I feel an increase in burning and dryness, and the redness on my cheeks also intensifies. Then, about 5 to 10 minutes later, I apply Vaseline Premium Petroleum Jelly to my face, which provides some relief. Gradually, the burning and dryness start to subside. Is using it this way suitable for my skin?
Hey! :) What strength of benzoyl peroxide do you use? How severe is your acne and where is it located? It's fine to apply the treatment only to the areas where you experience acne. See here: ruclips.net/video/hdZKPkiwx7U/видео.htmlfeature=shared Still, I also recommend looking into the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), and especially your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, spices, milk, bread (wheat/gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).
It may work for some time, but generally, I think it will become irritating after a while. So it is not a good idea. Better to just add hydrating toners.
I started using the acne foaming cleanser for the first time today. I avoided my eye area but used it all over my face. After washing, my acnes on my cheeks feel a bit warm and itchy. Is this normal cause my forehead doesn’t feel anything. Is this how this works or is it an allergic reaction?
Is it just a little and then it goes away? If so, then I assume this is because it's dry. So, in this case, if the problem persists, a moisturizer would be ideal, ideally a gel type. Something like CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion, pure aloe vera gel, or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. Here’s what to do: Clean your face with the benzoyl peroxide cleanser. Pat your face dry. Apply a bean-sized amount of the gel all over your face.
@@HashiniNavodhaPerera So, it shouldn't be an issue. However, the more you use it, the drier your skin may become, so the gel might still be necessary. But wait and see how things go over the next few days before deciding to purchase it.
I have been using Benzoyl Peroxide cleansers for some time, and it has never bleached my hair or so. However, it can easily bleach towels and fabric, so make sure to either use white towels or old, clean towels that you don't mind getting bleached. :)
Hi, I have white heads, black heads & pores.. which of the cerave cleanser should i use? The Acne control cleanser or Acne foaming cream cleanser? Whichever you recommend how often should i use it ? …I have combination skin
You may have success with the Acne Control Cleanser since it contains 2% Salicylic Acid. However, depending on the depth of your blackheads, it's advisable to have them extracted professionally. I also recommend investigating the root cause of your whiteheads and blackheads. Regarding your pores, it's normal to have them. Check this: ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4j-bcEAC5JU9n0zB0zLi_la8jkx_ZKzl ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDpfFN90vkWK8knvwDlkqRSoDDZZzX3vG
hi i found this video super helpful! i just have one concern. i have the cerave acne control cleanser (salicylic acid) that i normally used but i was recommended to start using the cerave foamimg cleanser (benzoyl peroxide). however, i was wondering if i can i use the acne control cleanser for my entire face and then the foaming cleanser for the affected areas as i am unable to afford another cleanser? or can i use one in the day and the other at night?
The CeraVe acne control cleanser is very drying, not because of Salicylic Acid but because of the overall formulation; now, when using the Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser the same day, it really can accelerate the already dry skin. Therefore I suggest not using them on the same day. Instead, you can use them in different areas and try to see if it works. The best solution would be getting your hands on the CeraVe foaming cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial cleanser, or another foaming cleanser that you could use when it gets too irritated. You need to try the different methods; just don't overdo it, and if you experience too much irritation and dryness, you can skip them for 1-2 days and rest your skin.
@@vaneshajagroo It may, however, it hasn't happened to me as I'm not using it through my eyebrows. Make sure to properly wash it off, and it won't be an issue :)

The best I have tried are from Paula's Choice. Paula’s Choice Skin Restoring Moisturizer with SPF 50 (Normal to Dry Skin) or Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid with SPF 50 (Normal to Combination/Oily Skin) But you can also try CeraVe Sunscreens. Melissa, can I use this and the Effaclar Duo Plus on my face? For starters, I'm thinking once a day. But a bit concerned about using both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide at the same time. I have closed comedones on my forehead and occasional whiteheads on my chin and cheeks.
Essentially, you've already pointed out the potential issues. I also believe it might be too much for the skin to tolerate. Therefore, you need to adjust this to your needs. Start slowly and alternate use!
Hi, I have 2 questions: 1. In the ingredients list, there is a glycolic acid. I think it is not safe to mix benzoyl peroxide together with glycolic acid and use it at the same time. What do you think? 2. Based on your experience, between panoxyl benzoyl 4% and cerave benzoyl 4%, which one work the best for you? Thx...
If a Benzoyl Peroxide product contains an acid like Glycolic Acid, it's usually well-balanced to offer mild exfoliation, hydration, or to balance the pH of the formulation. So, in that case, it's not a concern. I prefer PanOxyl's Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser or Differin's Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser.
My acne is clear now i have just acne scars . Is acne foaming cleaner is good for inactive acne which cerave cleaner is best for in active acne or acne scars
Hello, i was wondering if it can cause breakout cause i had been using acne control cleanser from cerave and it was good ... then i tried this one and it made my face worst and i dont know if it tries to bring all the crap from under the skin or what..... no irritation no redness nothing just the acne getting worst.. I use it morning and at nights mornings with : Acne Control Gel: Targeted Treatment. and spf moisturizer nights with : Resurfacing Retinol Serum - Skincare - CeraVe and moisturizer
It could be that your skin responds better to Salicylic Acid than Benzoyl Peroxide, yes. However, it could also mean that you're overusing these treatments, as you are using a Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid-based Cleanser along with a Retinol Serum. So, you could either completely stop using the Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser, or just use that one and stop using the Salicylic Acid cleanser to see what works best for you :)
@@bryanlopez1266 Hmm... it may cause excessive dryness and/or sensitivities. This mainly depends on the formulation of the cream, your skin tolerance, and how often you're doing this combination.
It depends. If you want to leave it on the skin for a moment (like a minute or so), you can start with the cleanser and then move on to your shampoo and body wash. Once you're done with it, you can rinse everything off in one go. You have to test it. It primarily depends on your shower routine..like do you only use shampoo, maybe conditioner too?... :)
Hey, how are you managing your acne? For me personally, benzoyl peroxide has been the only treatment that has shown a reduction in my type of acne. All the other treatments were somewhat ineffective, but it might depend on how well your skin reacts to the different ingredients. So, the other cleanser is salicylic acid!
@@Dominic7449 Well, it's not a bad thing. I mean, if you can target the acne and temporary dryness when treating it, that's not an issue for me. I'd rather have that than use hydrating products that constantly give me new acne. Although, I think it's more about the other ingredients in these formulations causing it. But, as I already told you, if it's not severe and your skin is not on fire, it's not an issue, at least not from my experience, and only for the time you are using the product.
I can just use this in my routine? 1.acne foaming cream cleanser 2. HA 3. Niacinamide 4. Salicylic 5. Moisturizer Or isn't it necessary? Also is it better to also use foaming facial cleanser or acne control cleanser before the acne cream cleanser? Or rather just use them at separate(am/pm) routines?
That sounds like a very irritating routine. I suggest keeping benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid separate, especially if you are planning on using them more often. Here is a better routine: Acne foaming cream cleanser or control cleanser HA Niacinamide Moisturizer (only if it is a gel and non-comedogenic, avoid creams or heavy lotions!) It may also be good to have a gentle foaming cleanser to use when not using the acne control cleanser or foaming cream cleanser to balance it, such as CeraVe Foaming Cleanser or Cream-to-Foam Cleanser.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you for the reply! I always do my routine in the shower. Do you think if I use the acne foaming cleanser first the wash it off with the foaming facial cleanser second it will be as effective and then use a moisturizer last
I personally wouldn't, because Benzoyl Peroxide can also cause some 'damage.' That's why I only recommend using it when you're experiencing acne. I would switch to a regular cleanser now. What other products do you use? While a BP cleanser can help reduce acne, it's important to determine the underlying cause of your acne for a lasting cure.

@@noorulainarshia7476 Okay, good! I also recommend looking deeper into your acne concerns, such as identifying potential triggers like hormones, stress, genetics, your diet (including food intolerances), or the presence of preservatives, antibiotics, and other toxins in your food. As for a sunscreen, have a look at Good Molecules Sheer Mineral SPF.
It also exfoliates the skin, so there is no need for it. Also, I do not recommend following up with an AHA or BHA since it will dramatically increase the risk of irritation. From my experience, it does not work well and often just causes the skin to react with more breakouts. So if you have both and want to use them, I suggest using them on alternate days.
Thank you very helpful viedo! would i be able to use my normal night stuff that I use after using this face wash such as paula's choice Discoloration Repair Serum or The INKEY List Beta Hydroxy Acid or even Hyaluronic Acid?
The BHA may cause some irritation when combined. It won't happen right away, but based on my experience, it's best to use only one exfoliating product per routine, especially if you plan on doing it regularly, but if you only use it occasionally, it will likely work yes. Could I use the cerave acne foaming cream cleanser and cerave acne control gel in the same routine? Since the cleanser is benzoyl peroxide and the cream is salycylic acid?
It can work; yes, I do that sometimes, but it drys out my skin if I do it repeatedly. So keep the frequency in mind and adjust it accordingly to your skin response.
I am not sure about that; my tattoos on my back are still there;😉 it did not bleach it, and I used it for several weeks. But I am unsure how it performs on tattooed eyebrows; still, you do not have it on the skin for that long, so it will likely not affect it. Or maybe just leave that area.🤔 Or ask in your local pharmacy or the tattoo studio.
Does ur acne gets worst and get better or it will just get better? also I’m using clindamycin phosphate topical solution usp 1% can I use the cerave foam while using the clindamycin?
It primarily depends on how your skin reacts to Benzoyl Peroxide. My skin does not have a problem with BP and it works great for me! :) You can use this cleanser in the AM and a regular cleanser + your treatment in the PM.
Hi! Can I really use Cerave Hydrating cream to foam cleanser before using Acne foaming cream cleanser? Some says that acne foaming cleanser cannot be combine with salicylic acid , however Cerave Hydrating cream to foam cleanser has it. Thank you!
The Salicylic Acid amount in that cleanser is so little that it does not matter. However, I wouldn't use them together since this can be pretty drying. So, you can alternate between those two cleansers :)
Hey! :) It is advised to apply it on wet skin. So, I recommend applying it on wet skin, massage it onto the skin and then rinse. Just as shown in the video :)
@@danielmorgan6397 Yeah, the word damp seems to be a new popular word to confuse people. It's a foaming cleanser, which foams when adding water...therefore apply it on wet skin.
Hi, I struggle with acne/blackheads and i am planning to get the acne foaming cleanser. I also have acne scars (i’m brown skinned and was told i can’t use acid which would cause hyperpigmentation). I actually have The Ordinary- Niacinamide + Zinc (it has caused breakouts - i have been using it for a week/less) and i was also told to use The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin (which i haven’t gotten my hands on them). What would you suggest to use to reduce/clear scars if i am also using acne foaming cleanser? I have also read that dark/brown skinned should use retinoids to help with scars, i don’t know what to use
Hey! :) Do you have physical scars or just red/brown spots? What's your skin type? You can use this cleanser for active acne. As for your dark spots, you may need to get a Niacinamide serum with a lower %. I do not recommend using an exfoliant if you already use a Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser. However, you can use a Retinol or Retinoid (like Differin Gel) in your evening routine. Use a gentle cleanser instead of the BP cleanser when using your Retinol or Retinoid.

Hi melissa!, I have a question and I was wondering if using the cerave cream to foam cleanser first and using the acne foam cleanser after on my routine is good to do? And I was wondering is hydrating cleanser is good for combination skin or is it only the cream and foam cleanser ?
No, do not do that. This can really cause irritation. Only use one cleanser or alternate between them. If you have normal to oily skin, you can use a gentle foaming cleanser. If you have normal to dry skin, use a hydrating cleanser. My suggestion would be to follow the benzoyl peroxide cleansing step or salicylic acid cleanser with a lightweight, hydrating hyaluronic acid serum or gel, such as Neutrogena Hydro Boost or G&G Hydration Station. Keep the frequency of the cleansers in mind and alternate with the gentle versions to avoid over-drying your skin.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet ooohhh well good think I haven't started to do that thank you melissa. Oh and I was wondering another think even if you suggest not doing it both at the same time because of irritation would it be posible that even if I still continue on using the hydrating or foam cleanser but I want to add the acne cleanser and use it ones a week would it create change or more irritation or do I just stick on using one cleanser ? And if hydrating facial cleanser better that hydrating cream to foam cleanser or both work differently?

@@jen-9444 But also if you have dry, sensitive skin, you may prefer the non-foaming texture of the Hydrating Facial Cleanser, as it is less likely to cause irritation or dehydration. @@ynnahgstd Since you finished the Peeling a week ago, you should be able to start with CeraVe's BP cleanser. However, do not use it the same day or even the day after you're using the Peeling.
It depends on your overall skin tolerance, but I could use it once daily. When I used it more often, I got sensitivity (redness) or experienced dryness which I then tried to balance with a moisturizer, but that led to other issues. Here is a little routine for acne, which helped me to reduce it. You could use CeraVe Cleanser instead of PanOxyl. I do that sometimes, and it can work well. However, I do not do it daily since redness and "skin rash" can appear if too much dryness occurs. So if that happens, I always give it a break of a couple of days before combining it again. So you need to adjust it to your needs. Alternatively, you can use it when not using Adapalene, so just use it in the morning and Adapalene in the evening or vice versa to avoid it 😀

CeraVe's Acne Foaming Cleanser or SA Renewing Cleanser can help to reduce active acne; it also may help to reduce blackheads. Literally though lol I had to learn from chat gpt. The bottle didn’t even mention leaving it on for 5 to 10 minutes

Here’s what to do:
Clean your face with the benzoyl peroxide cleanser.
Pat your face dry.

You may have success with the Acne Control Cleanser since it contains 2% Salicylic Acid. However, depending on the depth of your blackheads, it's advisable to have them extracted professionally. hi i found this video super helpful! i just have one concern. i have the cerave acne control cleanser (salicylic acid) that i normally used but i was recommended to start using the cerave foamimg cleanser (benzoyl peroxide). however, i was wondering if i can i use the acne control cleanser for my entire face and then the foaming cleanser for the affected areas as i am unable to afford another cleanser? or can i use one in the day and the other at night?

I sometimes get this with certain products, not sure why. Benzoyl Peroxide is always a bit aggressive, but the formulation of a BP product makes a huge difference.

Hi Melissa! I've been using cerave acne foaming cleanser in a week now together with retinoic acid (brand my derma gave). But I am experiencing super dryness and flaky skin. Is this normal? How long will this take?
Hello :) are you using them in the same routine? Because that is usually not how it is done, but instead, using them at alternate times. But also, from my experience, that can cause severe redness or dryness, which will not go away. I solved that issue by only using one treatment at a time and adjusting to that before introducing the other. But if your dermatologist told you to do so, I recommend getting in touch with him to check what you can change :)

If you have oily skin and acne no, that will lead to more breakouts; it is too heavy for the skin. Hey! 😊
Do you use this cleanser daily in the AM and PM? Also, do you apply it to your entire face? If so, you may want to consider using it less frequently and/or only on the affected area. What other products do you use? While a BP cleanser can help reduce acne, it's important to determine the underlying cause of your acne for a lasting cure.
i used it at night time.
when the acne started spreading i limited it to the affected areas only.
Yes, i think it would be better to use it off and on.

@@noorulainarshia7476 Okay, good! I also recommend looking deeper into your acne concerns, such as identifying potential triggers like hormones, stress, genetics, your diet (including food intolerances), or the presence of preservatives, antibiotics, and other toxins in your food.
As for a sunscreen, have a look at Good Molecules Sheer Mineral SPF.
as far as i noted, diet and stress are the triggering factors for my acne, anyways, im really grateful for the advice 😊
So, look into these factors to reduce your acne :)
Can I exfoliate my skin while using the product?
It also exfoliates the skin, so there is no need for it. Also, I do not recommend following up with an AHA or BHA since it will dramatically increase the risk of irritation. From my experience, it does not work well and often just causes the skin to react with more breakouts. So if you have both and want to use them, I suggest using them on alternate days.
Can it also be used for granites?
I don't think it's a good idea to use benzoyl peroxide on granite, as it could potentially discolor or damage the surface. 😉
Can i use the mandelic acid or 1% retinol in the PM after cleansing with that cleanser?
Mandelic Acid may work, but 1% retinol is likely too potent. So my advice would be to use them at different times.
Thank you very helpful viedo! would i be able to use my normal night stuff that I use after using this face wash such as paula's choice
Discoloration Repair Serum or The INKEY List
Beta Hydroxy Acid or even Hyaluronic Acid?
The BHA may cause some irritation when combined. It won't happen right away, but based on my experience, it's best to use only one exfoliating product per routine, especially if you plan on doing it regularly, but if you only use it occasionally, it will likely work yes.
Example:
PM:
CeraVe Foaming Cream Cleanser
Hyaluronic Acid
Discoloration Repair Serum

I have oily skin & no pimples just because of the peeling effect of the rejuv set. There's little bumps on the face and. Just want to prevent acne in the future.
You can use this cleanser once per day or every other day. However, why don't you continue with the set if it has helped you?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet just finished the set consumable for only 1 month. its a little harsh to the skin if you continuously use it as a skin care in more than a month so just needed to switch to a mild skincare for maintenance. I'm still worried if I can use cerave acne foam cleanser with benzoyl peroxide after peeling. Should I use it or rest my skin first? really appreciate you helping me. Just subscribed to your channel for more videos about skincare 🫶
@@ynnahgstd Since you finished the Peeling a week ago, you should be able to start with CeraVe's BP cleanser. However, do not use it the same day or even the day after you're using the Peeling.
can i use moisturaizer after this?
Yes, just make sure to choose the one that's right for your skin type!

How often should someone use this?
It depends on your overall skin tolerance, but I could use it once daily. When I used it more often, I got sensitivity (redness) or experienced dryness which I then tried to balance with a moisturizer, but that led to other issues.
Here is a little routine for acne, which helped me to reduce it. You could use CeraVe Cleanser instead of PanOxyl.

Can I use this in same routine with Adapalene gel ?
I do that sometimes, and it can work well. However, I do not do it daily since redness and "skin rash" can appear if too much dryness occurs. So if that happens, I always give it a break of a couple of days before combining it again. So you need to adjust it to your needs. Alternatively, you can use it when not using Adapalene, so just use it in the morning and Adapalene in the evening or vice versa to avoid it 😀
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet okay. Thank you. Do you have a video on these two together ?
@@adto0930 No, only about Benzoyl Peroxide and Retinol :) However, that's a good idea for a future video! :)

Which CeraVe is best for removing acne, blackheads and oily skin?please answer the question ... Which of these three (CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser or CeraVe Sa Smoothing Cleanser or Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser) will take? Or none of these?Or take another? or Can I use Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser to remove blackheads? Please advice me.....
CeraVe's Acne Foaming Cleanser or SA Renewing Cleanser can help to reduce active acne; it also may help to reduce blackheads. However, if they are too deep into the skin, I suggest getting them extracted by a professional or extracting them yourself with a tool at home.
Overall I prefer Differin's 5% BP Cleanser or Panoxyl's 4% BP cleanser over CeraVe's Acne Foaming Cleanser, but it depends on what cleanser you can get in your area or online.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Differin's 5% BP Cleanser ,Panoxyl's 4% BP cleanser ,CeraVe's Acne Foaming Cleanser and SA Renewing Cleanser all are available in our area. There will be no problem in getting these products.
@@zahidulislam2052 I like Differin's 5% BP cleanser :) Depending on your skin's tolerance, you can use that one once or twice daily. You can also alternate between that one and CeraVe's Foaming or Cetaphil Daily Facial or Oily Skin Cleanser :)
