    Schluter says to save the first inch rip of the tray because it doesn’t slope (no tapered cuts around shower floor) and then float it with the Kerdi when you waterproof. It works well. Also I despise cutting the stuff, it make a mess!

      Use a razor knife. Lol. No mess.

    This merits a video with a full walk thru. The idea of modifying a premade pan is interesting as long as theyre not overpriced otherwise mortar. Trying to keep an open mind.

    Hi, I am having a hard time understanding this. I have read that the slope for a curbless shower should be a minimum slope of 1/4" (0.25") and the maximum slope should be 1/2" (0.5") per foot. And this should be from the drainage out to all directions until the height of 2" is reached.
    So follow the rule detailed above a curbless shower with a slope of 1/4" (0.25") should have a distance of 8'. 1/4" (slope) x 8' (distance) = 2" (shower pan height requirement).
    If we follow the established rule with a 1/2" (0.25) slope then the distance should be 4'. 1/2" (slope) x 4' (distance) = 2" (shower pan height requirement)
    What am I doing wrong here? Please help me understand this.

    My drain pipe stub up is crooked, resulting in an unlevel drain during test fit. Any ideas how to fix?

    What kind of blade do you use to cut the foam with circular saw?

    Lol easy. Ya...sure.
    Unless you have this system witb the drain and p trap on the ends, in middle of house. Tough cutting and making new p trap. P trap also needs to be extended lower. Box the ends of the shower framing. Further recess the floor with recessed ledgers precisely to the depth of previous plywood. Then if needed like ours when removing tub, add.more.plywood that'll raise up the kerdi Styrofoam drain just enough where it's just exactly level with the Ditra system. Our joists didn't line up with ends of shower, so had to make false joists to box in and add ledgers.
    Lot of measuring and planning. Aka-not easy.

    What part in the usa you do this because here in texas looks a lot different

      east coast, but recessing the subfloor and adding a pre-sloped tray is fairly standard

    Doesn’t look like a minimum 2” slope to drain?

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Год назад

      It’s 1/4” per linear foot
