Mustang Front End Travel, here is my secret!

  • Today, we are taking some travel out of the Mustang and putting the radial valved front struts on since we plan on racing at some stickier tracks in the next few weeks. I showed ya'll last year what my plan was to get more travel, today I show you how much it actually provided. If I could have modified the lower a arm so the ball joint would not bind it would have been a ton of travel.

    I am Truly amazed at the total understanding of suspension and getting the car working correctly. You are a very intellegent person. One of the many reasons I love your channel. Keep up the great videos.

    john,i just added a 3" spacer to mine an some 16"x75# front springs and i ran into the ball joint binding deal. i run upr a arms an their ball joint but i noticed if i raised the a arm it would unbind it. im thinking a taller ball joint might fix it. i think qa1 an steeda make taller deals or find one that can take the extreme angle.

    • @TurboJohnRacing
      @TurboJohnRacing  Год назад +1

      I have not tried a taller ball joint

    • @suicidal_racing

      @@TurboJohnRacing ive been trying to find the max misalign angle for stock ball joints. qa1 has a std one an a .5" raised one. both list 50° misalign max angle for fox bodies.. the raised one will take away some travel do to the spindle being high.

      @suicidal would a k member spacer help that ball joint angle?

    • @suicidal_racing
      @suicidal_racing 6 месяцев назад

      @@MansfieldRacing229 yes but if you don't run motor plates it'll lower the camshaft centerline height.

    If you make a longer "A" arm that would cure that ball joint problem. But not a easy fix.

    • @schulzy1544
      @schulzy1544 2 года назад

      Sn95 a arms are 3/4" longer and new edge are 1 1/2" longer, stock. Aftermarket ones should be similar.

    If you can run what you were running a year and a half ago when you were at Galot running Chris and Tyson then you can run with those guys at NPK small tire John and you need to cut those good lights that you do and I think you can go many round! I have seen their dragies.

Went from 3.25" extension to 5.5" with regular off the shelf lakewood 90/10s. Next step is springs, I'm on 14" 150s, gonna go to 16" 100s. Should hook the street someday...

    You might want to get some spray plastic bottles. Fill the bottom with some ice cubes, a couple of inches or so, the rest with water, and give the racing
    family their own ice cold spray bottle, adjust the nozzle to mist, and cool your face and neck and under the collar. It works nicely. It's going to be hot.
